International Women's Day: Carly Thornton

Q. When did you start weight training and what initially inspired you?

Answer:

I started training at 21 years, but not an the intensity I do these days.  The first person who actually inspired me funny enough was Britney Spears as I wanted a wash board stomach like she had haha!

Q. Who is your biggest inspiration?

Answer:

There are a few pro athletes who inspire me which compete in Bikini and Figure, I also get inspiration from hard working people who I see continuously achieving success in their business ventures through sheer hard work and dedication and my parents who have achieved everything they have by supporting each other and working hard

Q. What do you consider your greatest achievement to date?

Answer:

I have many different achievements that bring different senses of success , this would be my first time competing with the UKBFF, then representing them at the Europeans, my first ever magazine front cover, my personal training business and on-line coaching elite body and fitness which I have with my partner Luke and inspiring other people to lead a healthy fit lifestyle and helping them reach their own goal, this I LOVE, to see others succeed is just awesome!

Q. What has been your Favourite place to train?

Answer:

I train at Ripped Gym in Basildon where I also PT out of, it filled with the best equipment and awesome atmosphere!

Q. What advice would you give young women aspiring to compete?

Answer:

To keep the love for training and remember you can only improve yourself, look at others for inspiration but do not focus on them so much that you loose sight of your own goals

Q. If you could only pick one
Myprotein product what would you choose and why?

Answer:

It would have to be the Impact Whey Protein Isolate as this is one of my daily staples in my day to day routine, but there are SO many products I use so that’s a little cruel getting me to pick one!!

Q. What is your training like?

Answer:

Do you set yourself regular goals and targets? I keep a log book so I am focused on continually improving, now this could be either increasing my weights or more reps but every session is another workout to improve

Q. What is the most challenging aspect of your routine?

Answer:

It has to be legs, I love love love training legs, I hit them in so many different ways and can never get lost of new exercises to keep pushing to the next level!

Q. What is your focus right now?

Answer:

I am focused on competing at the IFBB Arnold Madrid which I am really looking forward to, the UKBFF have really supported me since 2008 and am very proud to be able to represent the UK abroad and with such a fantastic federation and team

Q. What Will be your greatest Challenge in 2015?

Answer:

As above my next challenge competing is the IFBB Arnold Madrid, I am constantly focused on new challenges to keep myself motivated and to grow as a person. A few new photo shoots this year and more filming with Myprotein is definitely on the cards!!
