Bought the Thai Green Curry and tried my first sachet as part of my post workout lunch and it didn't mix overly well - had to keep adding water until it was quite thin and obviously you can't use a shaker with boiling water (unless you fancy a trip to A&E when your shaker pops), so... I popped half a nest of wholemeal noodles (does MP make protein noodles? must check) into my oversized mug, poured in the sachet, added boiling water, gave it a quick stir then left it to sit for a couple of mins before stirring again, et voila: A perfect noodle soup, with no lumps and fills you up with only around 270Cals Noodle Soup Macros: Carbs: 23g, Fat: 3g Protein: 25g Goes Well With:Noodles
I think the soups are fantastic value for money. What I tried was brown rice with chicken breast cubed and a protein soup poured over. This actually makes what can be a dry meal very tasty.
I am just in love with this protein soups, I do not use it as soups but i make sauces with it (sort of thick soup with just 10cl of water)! For example the beef soupe is a perfect pepper sauce to accompany meats (just add water & pepper), pasta or rice and the chicken soup is a perfect bechamel sauce that I can insert in a gratin or just to accompany meats as well! I eat this soups everyday! Goes Well With:Konjac Pasta, pasta, rice, meat, chicken...
MIXABILITY I've bought and consumed Beef, Chicken and Thai Curry. They all are reasonably mediocre in mixing, even if you follow the "directions" of mixing half the content of the packet into half of the desired liquid, letting it stir for 30 seconds, and then adding the other half (of both packet and liquid). Out of them the beef appears to be the one that is more mixable. TASTE Thai curry - stronger taste, bit spicy but fine overall. Chicken - smooth and chicken like. Beef - smells like beef, tastes ok. EFFECTIVENESS Effectiveness isn't really a factor here, this is basically whey protein mixed with artificial flavours/scents in a conveniently packet. It's a cozy (for colder weather) of getting your protein requirements. TIPS You don't need to boil water, you can just pour out water from a Nespresso machine and it will be hot enough for mixing the protein soup. You can also try this with oats, as they get soft in no time. No need to boil water, just use a nespresso.
Parcel arrived quickly. So far I have found 2 pouches split and had to throw away. I purchased the beef which taste really awful. Very hard to mix and leaves lumps. Bad purchase on my part and wont purchase again. I do not recommend. Goes Well With:Nothing
I have only had the Thai Green version. Very spicy but not much complexity of flavour. I suspect a little sprinkle of fresh coriander/ basil or a squeeze of lemon juice might give it that kick that's missing. I suspect that I will end up stir frying some peppers, onions, garlic and chicken or prawns and adding it to that for dinner - so using it as a high protein curry sauce base. Still its perfectly acceptable for lunchtime after some exercise - could be improved but a good whack of protein . Myprotein team - try an Ainsley Harriot Thai Chicken cup soup and work from that as it has a really good flavour for about 25g powder (obviously that has a negligible protein content) Could do better - but not vile. Does not live up to the impact whey flavours, maybe its just harder to do savoury stuff?
This stuff is the worst ever. Does not mix without blender, very powdery and teh tast is disgusting. Supposed to be beef flavour?? My shoes taste more like beef yuk.Goes Well With:bin liners
I have bought many products from My Protein, but this is by far the worst product I've tried. I ordered the Mediterranean Tomato, it tasted about as much tomato as my back-side. Mixing is a bit suspect but after reading the reviews the best way to mix is to pour a small amount of water in, mix to a paste and then keep adding water and mixing from there. I don't mind the slightly grainy texture, I don't mind the mixing problem, but the taste has to be addressed. Sorry My Protein, but this ones "not great", and that's being generous.
Absolutely loved the protein smoothie and dessert. But have to say the soup was very disappointing. Mix ability poor and had to blend but even very grainy. Taste was poor. Will be buying dessert again. But definitely not protein soup.
Big fan of myprotein as I can always get the help and feedback needed before a purchase but this is the first product in dissatisfied with. No real taste and a horrible texture made this inedible and will just got to waste.
Read a few reviews on this about not mixing very well... Here's the answer! Pour the whole sachet into a cup, add a tiny bit of boiling water, mix until wallpaper paste consistency, keep adding water until cup is full mixing in between. By the time the cup is full it's not got any lumps or any grains! Taken me three days but I genuinly believe that's the best way to mix it! Goes Well With:A bit of bread :)
Bought the "Mediterranean tomato" flavour soup. Absolutely gopping. Didn't mix well, tasted grainy and the flavour was bad. Waste of money, straight in the bin.Goes Well With:Chundering it down the toilet
I quite enjoy these. Tried all of them as soups and then as someone suggested - as less liquid sauces on buckwheat for example. I find these soups satisfactory. Not mind blowingly tasty, but they at fine.Goes Well With:Less water
Soup is tasty and easy to make, nice to have a quick snack!
Honestly you can taste the powder, it tastes vile it's just horrible horrible horrible. Couldn't even finish one bowl, made me gag.
Chicken - The taste isn't good and the texture is even worse. You think it's mixed it but you can feel the powder against your throat. It's so dry! Put it like this, my dog wouldn't even finish it and trust me, that's saying something.Goes Well With:A bin
Delicious isn't the word I'd use to describe these soups I've tried the chicken and tomato versions. Neither soups don't mix well and both have little taste. I've tasted much better whey-based soups from other suppliers. These are not enjoyable and I wont be buying them again. I don't expect them to be more enjoyable than real soup but these aren't even palatable. Goes Well With:added salt, pepper and lots of spice to give it some flavour
Bought the tomato flavour and it's not bad. Tastes a bit like pasta-bake sauce (note to self- try it with protein pasta next time). It took a lot of mixing- had to change arms halfway through. Creamier than I thought it would be and quiet potato-starchy, which isn't a bad thing. What is a bad thing, however, is the amount of salt! 4g per serving- I had it half an hour ago and I still feel slightly desiccated. I've had to re-adjust my evening meal plans to take into account my salt-overdose. Overall, not bad, just take care if you're trying to cut down on salt.Goes Well With:Protein Flat Bread
I like these. Taste or mixability wise, they're not worse than any other instant mug soups out there -- that being said, we're not exactly spoilt on that front. Still, the macros make up for this, and as long as these, per sachet, cost just a hair more than regular, maltodextrin and starch-bulked regular stuff, I'd totally choose these. And anyways, you can always upgrade them with a bit of tomato paste, noodles, egg yolk, croutons, bouillon cube, spring onions, vegs... whatever floats.
Thai flavour- This stuff is pretty alright tasting. Quite spicy but I like it To make - Need to add 1/3 boiling water then slowly add contents whilst stirring. Then add another third etc. Gets rid of lumps perfectly. 4 star because it's got quite a lot of sugar in?
