Powder or seeds?

This bag of psyllium husks is a very fine powder, compare to the previous bag which was seed. However just the size of the bag was different. I still wonder what supposed to be in the bag. Powder or seeds? It is easy to mix with any liquid but if u leave it for too long, its easily become like a thick pudding in your shaker bottle or even thicker. I personally use this to keep my hunger down and survive until I can have my lunch. Helps to avoid eating unneccessary sugary things that you crave for when your blood sugar drops. Plus keeps u regular ☺️

Yucky fine brown dust - disappointing :(

1
Overall:

Very disappointed with my latest purchase. Although the listing at the time, and the packet itself, says 'Whole Psyllium Husks', what I received was something resembling a fine brown dust. I left a review years ago saying what an excellent product it was, how it mixed well, and in OJ it was was like OJ with juicy bits. This is nothing like that; it doesn't mix well, and if you mash the lumps they are just a slimy paste. I see the name has since changed on the site to 'Powdered Psyllium Husks', and I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known that's what I was getting.

I've been using this for a few weeks, and ran out because I've been waiting over a month for a new package to be delivered. I've bought some Psyllium in a local health food shops and what a difference. The local stuff mixes well, tastes better and is much more effective - almost makes me glad Myprotein hasn't delivered on their promise to send me what I've paid for. Won't be buying from them again.

Results like wall paper paste

As has already been mentioned on this review page, the results are of the taste and texture of wall paper paste. I thought this would have been ideal to add to porridge but following mixing you can literally peel your porridge from the bowl in one big dollup, similar to the slime toy that kids from the 1980's will remember fondly playing with. Grim.

Powdered Psyllium Husks

I bought Powdered Psyllium Husks not just to help me get more fibre in my diet which if it was for that reason alone is a good thing as in this day in and age getting enough good fibre into our diet can be hard with all the processed food alot of us consume for a quick fix to feed our bodies through out the day. But I also bought powdered Psyllium Husks to help me feel fuller through out the day to help me from feeling hungry and going for a quick fix of chocolate bars or crisp and the processed carbohydrates between meals. Does it work for this reason? Yes I find it does the job of not making me hungry through the day and to stop the sugar cravings so I won't go for the quick fix junk food options. The fibre side to Psyllium Husks product, well were told by the health officials that where not consuming enough fibre in our diets now a days which I believe is true but how do we know? to be honest I do not but what I found since using powdered Psyllium Husks is that my bowel movements (sorry to gross any one out) are regular as clock work so to say and my stools have the same consistancy (no hard stools or too runner stools) comfortable when passing. How I use it? First thing in the morning on rising I mix one desert spoon with one pint glass of water and consume straight away I do not leave to stand as the fibre will solidify fast which is not recommended when in this state as it can stick in your throat so drink it down fast once stirred. This way it keeps me full through out the day. I've found the Myprotein Powdered Psyllium Husks product is a excellent product for the quality (easy to mix) and for the price they charge for this quality product as a lot of other companies will price the product as much as two to three times this for a good quality powdered psyllium husks product .
Goes Well With:
Any one starting a low calorie diet to lose weight as it stops them from feeling hungry through the day.

It's hard to get excited about powdered Psyllium Husks. On it's own has the texture of fine sawdust. However it's a cheap, natural source of fibre, with little or no taste of its own. Since going on a diet to lose weight, I've suffered a little from bowel movement irregularity, and while I have added extra fruit and vegetable to my diet they is only so much I can do. I thought I would try adding a little of this every day to get things moving more regularly. I add it to oat bran for breakfast, which makes for a pretty sticky porridge, but it goes down if you add cinnamon or something with flavour and eat it before it sets! It's a lot better with a chopped banana in a milk and yoghurt shake, where it doesn't distort the texture or flavour too much. Since adding it too my diet I've been more regular, which is good with no bowel problems associated with adding fibre to your diet - but I did increase the amount gradually over a week.
Goes Well With:
Banana/yoghurt/milk in a shake. Blitz and drink. You can use Soya milk and soya yoghurt if you don't want cows milk - it works okay too. Make sure you have plenty of liquid or it will form a sticky gel.

whole vs powder doesn't matter

I am a huge fan of adding Psyllium husks to shakes. I have used the old 'whole husks' and the newer 'powder'. Some of the reviewers below seem to be confused as to the difference between husks and powder. The powder is made by grinding the husks down so that the gel produced is finer and has less of a grainy texture. If you are adding psyllium to a shaker, or mix your protein with a spoon, the powder may be a better choice because of its finer texture. If, like me you, mix in a blender, then it all gets turned to fine stuff anyway. Both forms of psyllium will provide the same health benefits (e.g. increase your daily fibre intake, help to make you feel more full post shake when dieting/cutting, help with the loo etc).
