"This is the protein shake mix that I use and I quite like it:\n\n1 scoop pea protein\n2 scoops waxy maize starch\n1 tablespoon of natural peanut butter\n500ml milk\n3 teaspoons of nesquick chocolate milk mix\n\nI find that this tastes ok. It has take a little getting used to, but I think the addition of the chocolate milk mix really helps.\n\nIt is quite a lot of calories though, around 800 I think. I use it as a pre/during/post workout shake, since I workout in the morning and can't eat enough for breakfast to get my energy levels up before my workout."

This really isn't as disgusting as some of the reviews make out. I mixed it with soya milk and some banana flavouring and it tasted ok.

"It's seriously not that bad, I think it's more of a state of mind, if you drink it thinking "eurgh this is pea powder", then you're not gonna like it.\n\nBut, it actually tastes quite nutty, I find that if i mix one scoop with about a pint of water, you just end up with some nutty tasting water, not disgusting at all.\n\nLast night I blended it up with some apple juice, oats and nuts/seeds, tasted alright.\n\nTaste wise, I'd say it's on a par with soya protein."

"As in the "When Harry met Sally" scene, where she fakes orgasm andthe old lady looking on says, "I'll have what she's having". That was how I felt on my first taste of pea protein isolate. It says it has a neutral taste, perhaps that is why some people find it disappointing, because actually it tastes intensely of peas, and I love peas. It's a real pea hit, and I drink it mixed with Evian. To me it doesn't need anything else. Since I'm using it as part of a weight loss diet that is a plus for me, that I don't need to mix it with more calories. I can just mix it up to meet any deficit as an almost insignificant addition, calorie-wise. And as I said, I love the taste. It isn't neutral, it tastes of peas, and it's delicious. Good and sharp."

"I read these reviews, but thought they must be overexaggerated, and seeing as I have a strong stomach, decided to give pea protein a go. WHAT A MISTAKE! I've tried every other animal-free protein going and believe me, pea protein tastes like sh*t! Far worse than anything I've ever tasted. Even as part of a protein shake containing banana, milk, peanut butter etc, the taste still dominates. I've resorted to downing this stuff with breath held now and can't wait til my batch is finished and I can get some rice or soya that doesn't make me wanna throw up every day."

"This stuff didn't taste half as bad as most below are stating, I mean, yeah, it's not the greatest taste in the world, but then again, which protein shakes are?\n\nI bought some berry blast flavoring to go with and it completely masks the taste, as does your local brand squash.\n\nthe powder mixes quite well too, not the gritty texture like you get with some other proteins.\n\nThe only real downside to it being is that it's not a "complete" protein, but then again, that's not MP's fault... it's the peas, and all you gotta do is buy the brown rice isolate together with this and you're sorted!"

"I couldn't drink it with water or orange juice - it just tastes too bad. However if you mix one scoop with 4 spoonfuls of choco drink, it's almost like Schwartz' finest :)\r\n\r\nDry it !"

"im not a big fan of peas, but i thought i would give this a try, how bad can it be? thats what i thought, when i first opened this i knew it wasnt going to be the best tasting so i took it to the gym with me, and after mywork out i filled it with water and started to drink it, i somehow managedd to get half way, and i was forced to stop in fear of being sick on the spot, i thought it must of been a heavy workout, so i tried again that night, and the same thing happened. the next day i left my friend try it, he added water and mixed it, he tasted it so did i, we both agreed it is TRUELY TERRIBLE! so we added orange juice, some of the taste went anyway, he manage to finish it, and sure enough under 40seconds later he was being sick in my bathroom! if you think you wont like you then you wont, trust me pleaasse, i have only got 1kg so i was lucky not to for got more, which i wont be, offical g rating of 0gs, taste is seriously 0/5"

"I have been told that it's best to consume a 4:1 carb:protein ratio mix within half an hour of completing a running session, then again within the next two hours. This protein mixed with pure fruit juice is a healthy and convenient way to do this. \r\n\r\nIt has a very neutral taste so works well with orange juice. Compared with Brown Protein isolate it mixes much more easily and the taste when mixed with water is far more tolerable.\r\n\r\nI would recommend this to anyone seeking a cheap dairy-free protein. Don't be tempted to save a few quid and get the rice stuff - like me you'll soon regret it.\r\n\r\n"
