Healthy Side Dishes | Turnip Gratin

A perfect accompaniment with any meat dish, this tasty low calorie side dish is quick and easy to make and can be frozen.


300g – Turnips

30g – Half Fat Cheese

1 Pot – Quark

1 white onion

1 Garlic Cloves

Salt and Pepper


a) Thinly slice the turnips and onion and crush the garlic

b)  In a baking dish start the layers take a third of the turnips and onions lay them in the base spread a third of the quark pot over them, sprinkle with crushed garlic, salt and pepper

c)  Continue the process until all ingredients have gone and lastly top with the grated cheese.

d) Bake in the oven for 25 minutes on 180oC
