Lentil Burger Recipe
Lentils are known to be a pulse, but did you also know that they can provide a pretty hefty protein content? This recipe is a fab way for vegetarians to get some extra protein and these lentil burgers are super tasty!
Here’s what you’ll need to get started, but if your an expert on herbs and spices, feel free to spice it up a bit!
50g of red lentils
50g of green lentils
1 clove of garlic
1 ½ scoops of Myprotein freekeh flour
1/3 of a green pepper
1/3 of a red pepper
1 small onion
2 large Portobello mushrooms
1 teaspoon of Coconpure coconut oil
Bring your lentils to the boil and allow to simmer for 10 minutes.
As your lentil cook, chop the rest of your vegetables and sauté them in a pan.
On a low heat bake your two Portobello mushrooms for 10 minutes.
When your lentils are cooked, drain all the water and mix in your chopped up onions, pepper, garlic and herbs.
Add 1 and ½ scoop of Myprotein Freekeh flour and an egg and mix well.
Add a teaspoon of coconpure to a pan and allow the pan to get hot. Add small amounts of the lentil pattie mixture in a rounded shape to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes either side.
Remove you Portobello mushrooms from the oven and remove the stalk.
Using the baked mushrooms as a bun, add your lentil burgers, lettuce and a spoonful of salsa!
