Here at Myprotein we’ve been spending a lot of time in 2014 in the lab designing MYPRE- our brand new pre workout formula.

What is Mypre?
Mypre is Myprotein’s new premium pre workout formula and the most effective and strongest blend on the market. What Ingredients Does Mypre Contain?

Through cutting edge scientific development we have merged the most essential and effective pre workout ingredients, including those designed specifically to aid muscle anabolism and recovery, such as essential amino acids and semi essential amino acids, power and performance enhancing compounds including creatine and nitric oxide, as well as energy and focus optimising ingredients like caffeine, vitamin B complexes and various minerals.

Essential Amino Acids (EAA’s)
In the body there are two main types of amino acids: essential and non essential. Essential amino acids are those that are vital for physiological function and protein synthesis- but cannot be produced by our body’s on their own. As a result these amino acids must be consumed in the diet and through supplementation. Essential amino acids can be found in a variety of food sources- but in little amounts. In those who exercise, the body’s demand for amino acids increases and that’s why supplementation of amino acids is widely advised.
In our Mypre formula we have incorporated a full list of all 9 EAA’s. As a result, Mypre is important for muscle growth, whereby these EAA’s, in addition to BCAA’s, will support muscle recovery throughout your training session. Essential amino acids have been shown in a number of studies to increase muscle energy, reduce muscle soreness and also aid a decrease in body fat and increase in muscle composition.

Branch Chain Amino Acids BCAA’s
My pre contains a massive 4g of the branched chain amino acids leucine, iso-leucine and valine in a 2:1:1 ratio. Branched chain amino acids are unlike any others- they have specific chemical structures which means they can be delivered and metabolised directly in the muscles at a fast rate.
Leucine, in particular, is the main amino acid which stimulates muscle protein synthesis (i.e. muscle growth) and reduces muscle protein breakdown. As supported by scientific studies- this means that through incorporating BCAA’s, Mypre can help reduce muscle and protein degradation by the body, muscle catabolism, during your training- helping to maximise your gains.
Because leucine is the main branched chain amino acid that has been supported through scientific research, we’ve incorporated an additional 800mg of L-Leucine, making Mypre the ultimate anabolic muscle formula.

Non essential amino acids are those which can be produced by the body. During training and exercise the body’s unique demand for amino acids becomes elevated. This means the rate at which the body produced non essential amino acids can often become inadequate to meet our needs. As a result of this, the body can be forced into a catabolic state, leading to muscle breakdown. In the body non essential amino acids have a series of physiological functions that during training can be vital toward your success. Therefore, although non essential amino acids can be produced by the body, in order to optimise performance and avoid amino acid depletion supplementation is recommended.
Beta alanine is the only beta non essential amino acid which provides Mypre with a series of functional properties to enhance your performance. During exercise the build-up of acidity in the muscles can have a huge impact on exercise capacity. This acidity results in a decrease in muscle pH which occurs due to an accumulation of hydrogen ions (H+) in the muscle environment. As a result, metabolic processes can be altered which can against muscle anabolism and our exercise performance. Mypre delivers 3g of Beta Alanine which acts directly to increase the muscle carnosine concentration and neutralise the working muscles, reduce fatigue and in turn increase exercise capacity.
Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate (AAKG) is a chemical compound containing both Arginine and Alpha-Ketoglutarate in a 2:1 ratio. Arginine is another conditionally essential amino acid that has a number of vital roles within human biochemistry. AAKG is another important biological compound when it comes to muscle performance and energy, which is used by the body to help with the creation of usable energy from carbohydrates, fats and protein.
Alpha-Ketoglutarate helps improve the delivery of the amino acid l-arginine in metabolic pathways. The Arginine and AAKG salt is a precursor to the amino acid l-glutamine, which is one of the only amino acids that can act to directly increased the energy levels of our muscles. Not only this, but this but within its metabolism, AAKG can also act to temporarily boost nitric oxide production which can support blood flow and nutrient delivery to muscle tissue, whilst also encouraging lean muscle growth and development.
D Aspartic Acid is an amino acid that is formed principally in the pituitary gland, hypothalamus, and testes, all of which are involved in hormone production. In the body, when l-aspartic acid combines with various enzymes in the testes it becomes D-Aspartic Acid. D- Aspartic acid plays a role in metabolic support whereby according to scientific studies, D-AA supplementation can increase testosterone levels. This is because D-AA has been thought to take part in the regulation, release and synthesis of the hormone LH and testosterone.
For males in particular this can have beneficial effects on performance whereby as men approach the age of 30, they can experience diminished testosterone levels. This natural aging decease in testosterone can lead to increased body fat levels, decreased recovery ability, and problems with sleep. As a result, D-AA may help boost testosterone levels to promote hormone balance.
Citrulline Malate is a unique combination of the amino acid citrulline and the organic salt malate. We have included citrulline malate within our Mypre formula because Citrulline can aid the removal of toxins such as lactic acid and ammonia, which are by-products of intense physical activity. Excess levels of lactic acid and ammonia can act against your performance, interfering with protein metabolism and promoting the likelihood of a catabolic state.
When it comes to gaining lean muscle creatine is a supplement that is strongly recommended, whereby it is often advised to supplement with around 5g of creatine pre or post workout. To date, there is a huge amount of scientific evidence suggesting that creatine supplementation can improve strength and power during high intensity exercise. This is because in the body creatine plays a vital role of PCr hydrolysis and the regeneration of ATP energy.
That’s why in Mypre we’ve added a hige 4g of creatine… but not just any creatine- to make sure you get the best performance possible we have provided a unique blend of four different types of creatine including; Creatine HCl, Creatine Ethyl Ester HCl, Creatine Monohydrate, and Creatine Monohydrate (Creapure®). These types of creatine all work synergistically, to increase muscle Phosphocreatine (PCr) stores and enhance the muscles PCr availability. This is particularly important for short bursts of high intensity and explosive exercise which predominantly incorporates Type 2b muscles fibres and uses the PCr system whereby this addition of creatine can reduce muscle fatigue. Creatine is also highly recommended for augmenting training-induced improvements in muscle mass.
Nitric Oxide (NO) Production Ingredients
Mypre combines a unique blend of L-Citrulline Malate (3g) and L-Arginine (1g) which have been shown to increase muscular energy. Citrulline Malate is readily converted to arginine which acts to increase NO levels in the body.
NO has been scientifically proven to increase blood flow and in turn enhance the delivery of nutrients and oxygen to the working muscles. Mypre also contains Betaine which has also been shown to increase NO levels which acts to regulate cellular fluid volume and in turn improve muscle strength, power and endurance.
Energy, Focus and Hydration
Caffeiene has been shown in various scientific studies, both old and new, to improve endurance capacity, increase energy and improve alertness, whilst also increasing cognitive function and reducing the perception of physical effort during exercise.
Typically, the benefits of caffeine are noticed when it is consumed in a single dose 30-60 minutes prior to exercise, that’s why Mypre combines a proprietary blend of caffeine and guarana extract to provide 400mg of caffeine per 2 scoops. This amount can help deliver all the beneficial effects we find from caffeine, without the negative side effects of shaking and nausea.
There are 8 different vitamin B complexes known, all of which contribute to energy metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. As a result of this we have included all 8 vitamin B complexesin our Mypre preworkout formula: Vitamin B1 (Thiamine HCl), Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin), Niacin (Niacinamide), Patothenic Acid (D-Calcium Pantothenate), Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine HCL), Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin), D-Biotin and Folic Acid.
Minerals and electrolytes
