Firstly, I am severely lactose intolerant and this means I'm limited to what protein I can have, so I thought that I'd be stuck with really gross options. I've tried so many, and was suffering (in silence) about how disgusting they were. Then I found MyProtein after some searching and took a risk by trying the Smooth Chocolate and Strawberry Cream. O M G! I have double scoops for meal replacement and protein loading for circuits, dancing, PiYo, ChaLean Extreme, P90X and weight management. Two scoops is the important bit for me because most protein doesn't mix well, even with a blender. I load my shaker, then with very low expectancies give it a thoroughly good mixing testing with the Chocolate first...it mixed, and no blender! Next came the taste...it was good! And I mean, really good, definite chocolate tastes, nutty aroma, went down really easily sipping it, no nasty after-taste either! The next day, I had a chocolate one in the blender, fantastic. Really smooth and creamy, take care with the amount of milk (I use Lactofree blue), not enough and it's not nice, but get your amount right, memorise it and keep to it. I eat a main meal at lunchtime, then in the evening I tried out the Strawberry Cream, used a shaker, mixed two scoops and O M G! It's even nicer than the Chocolate Smooth!!! How is this possible? Now, I mix one scoop of Strawberry with one Scoop of Chocolate for ultimate NOMZ!! The protein content is high, not as high as the unflavoured but I don't want to have to add fruit to make it taste nice, it would defeat the object of low carb and high protein. For anyone with a need to have Soya protein, this is the nicest I have ever tasted and I've already ordered my second set! Mix with shakers or blenders, add in fruit, I'd say blueberries, put in in cake mix for protein sponges, Lactofree milk, Soya milk, and Almond milk.
Bought this for it's higher protein content. Found mixing the powder with a small amount of liquid first and letting it settle slighty before adding the rest of the liquid worked well. Combining it all together at once resulted in some horrendous lumpy and ridiculously frothy mess. I add coffee to mine, which helps make it more palatable.
I've used this product for several years now and am highly satisfied. It is easy to digest and a truly excellent source of protein in my diet - which as an 80 year-old vegetarian - is of great importance to me! It is always delivered quickly and in good packaging.
Tastes nice, mixes well with soya or coconut milk. With almond it becomes so thick you need a spoon to eat it. Would highly recommend
Flavour: Unflavoured. I can generally stomach a lot, but this stuff is just the worst. The texture is so bad, it's thick like cement and gloopy. I actually turned my shaker upside down and it took about 10s to drip out. I added double the water and it was almost just as bad. Unfortunately I was not allowed to get a refund. I wish MyProtein put a warning on the product that it's basically cement.Goes Well With:Bricks
First off, I am not actually milk, lactose or whey intolerant. I take this excellent protein supplement simply because of its amazing value and complete amino acid profile. It is significantly cheaper than the whey product alternative which very important to me as I am on a very restricted budget. It is also easy on the digestion with absolutely no side effects whatsover and is really helping my gains - it's even improving my beard growth! Additionally, I had been using a competitors Soy Protein Isolate as it was slightly cheaper but after I received a discount code from MyProtein, I decided to try their product. In short, it is far superior in both taste and mixability being much smoother in consistency when mixed with no lumps and less frothing. Sure, you've got to get jiggy with the shaker when mixing but hey, if you can do the weights or other exercise then shaking it up shouldn't be a problem. I will now only use the MyProtein product which, even without flavouring, tastes just fine to me but then I ain't a fussy Mummy's boy.Goes Well With:Creatine Monohydrate
I normally have whey protein but recently discovered I have a milk allergy so tried this. The best way to describe this is angel delight... it is so thick it doesn't come out my shaker. It should be sold as a dessert mousse. Make sure you take a spoon with you to the gym.Goes Well With:A bowl and spoon.
I've been feeding this to my underweight pony that can't tolerate even the smallest amounts of sugar and she is looking better after only three weeks. She is really fussy about supplements and often refuses to eat new things but apparently this tastes great!
I have bought about three batches of unflavoured spaced about 4 months in between, and I would say that the mixability went from medium-to poor-to good. I was told by the sales guy that it depends on the source of the protein. I had to use a blender to mix the powder in. Anyway the soya taste does not bother me. For effectiveness, I would say my gains were better than when I used whey -- apparently I am lactose intolerant.
I bought these products the other day as I have trouble with milk. I bought 1kg of Strawberry and 1kg choc smooth. The chocolate is ok, I have it mixed with 400ml water as it was way too thick with the recommended ammount, and I also blend in a banana to help with the taste. It tastes find when blended. The strawberry has been not so great to me. When you mix in a shaker it goes to half foam, half drink... I'm not sure why, and it makes is hard to drink, and the texture and flavour is not great. I think I'll stick to the chocolate when I've run out this time. Its good for the money and for the dietary requirements I have.Goes Well With:Rice milk, Water with banana.
Struggled with a dairy allergy/intolerance for years. Find the higher grade protein brands and those that claim to be lactose better for my stomach and breathing problems, but always affect me. Thought I'd give this a try, wasn't sure what to expect. Tastes great, mixes well. Only downside I've found is its a little foamy and takes quite a while to settle down. Would like to see the product available in a larger quantity as well.
I decided to buy this as Whey protein results in acne for me and I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised. The Strawberry Cream tastes great, I find the Vanilla has a slightly bitter aftertaste as a shake, but works well mixed in porridge or a pancake batter. The down sides? It doesn't mix as well as the Whey powders, but pop it in a shaker and it's fine and I would say add more liquid as it has a much thicker consistency. As for gains, it's too early to give a review but I will definitely be purchasing this product again.
Great as always! I always buy this protein powder, I love it and take it 3 times a day plus! I have it with oats for breakfast, with milk as a mid morning shake, before a workout I take it with powdered oats and milk with coffee as a flavouring and after a workout something similar, it's really good and I highly recommend it!Goes Well With:Milk, porridge, oat powder and as a protein bar mix!
Strawberry cream wasn't in stock so thought I'd try vanilla! URGH. Ordered strawberry back! Otherwise, this product is excellent! I'm lactose intolerant so have to have this alternative, but soya is a deemed a complete protein so it's all good! Please fully stock for strawberry cream! :) thanks Goes Well With:Strawberry cream- frozen berries and milk ( blended)
I bought the smooth chocolate flavour, the taste isn't bad at all reall. It's a bit false but you can cope. I imagine this stuff would make you feel full for a long time. The texture is thick, dense and simply cement like. I mixed in 25g with 250ml of almond milk and within seconds it has solidified to a thick paste. No amount of shaking my already sore triceps would help. It was lumpy and slimey. If you have a blender of some sort, go for it but I wouldn't suggest it for people who want a quick shake on the go. Sadly, I have to now go and spend more money on getting some whey protein...
Firstly, I love Myprotein's soy protein, I've been buying it for years. I usually buy unflavoured (which is great) and chocolate. However, when I opened the chocolate smooth last week and had it in a shake ... YUCK!! Myprotein is clearly using a new recipe as the texture and flavour is completely different - not In a good way! I can't stomach the new taste! PLEASE go back to the old recipe!!!Goes Well With:unflavoured in smoothies and porridge
One of my first real experiences with protein shakes and have been using them for almost a year now! I'm vegetarian and can't have too much milk so this is perfect. I actually mix it with 20% milk (animal or nut) 80% water to make sure its creamy but still okay for me to have. I always went with the chocolate smooth and with rate it highly- fantastic stuff! The taste is great, mixes easily for a shake and can be used in stuff like protein oats too. However, I decided to change it up a bit and go for vanilla and was extremely disappointed. The flavour itself is't too bad (but very sweet), it refused to mix smoothly with ANYTHING and even just minor temp changed in the liquid made it go lumpy- spent more time trying to make the thing drinkable after it went into lumpy mess than I should have to for a small shake. I understand making this kind of product is a delicate balance, but honestly I would take it off the site until its useable.
Reading reviews I was quite worried about this one. I don't get it, its perfectly fine. Mixes easy as whey, mixes with other stuff just as well. Not like cement or whatever people said. I had Soy, Oats, Creatine mono & BCAA with some nesquick powder in a bottle of water. Soy didn't taste of anything other then a very light creamy mouth feel. The chocolate powder I used barely changed the taste so all I could taste was oats. Don't worry just get it and probably no need to use milk (maybe why people get bad results?) PLEASE MAKE FLAVOURED VERSIONS! IT'L WORK!Goes Well With:Water, Oats Flavouring.
Plant based protein source with good texture. Good with oatmeal. I ordered some without flavour (and no artificial sweetners) and I mixed it with some stevia flavdrops.Goes Well With:flavdrops, oatmeal, water
I'm sensitive to milk proteins and this is a good alternative. The texture and taste are fine but it would be good if they introduced coffee and or banana flavour. I like it because it doesn't have added carbs so is useful when I'm keeping a close eye on my carb consumption. It must be really difficult to make coffee flavoured sports drinks, gels etc as there are so few on the market. It must be a taste people like or we wouldn't have so many coffee shops.
