On my last order I did not received whole psyllium husks but very finely ground powder. It is very difficult to mix with water. Why did you change perfect product to this? Very disappointed.
As per another recent review, this product used to be good, but is now a fine powder - ideal if you want to consume wallpaper paste! I contacted My Protein following the change, they said: - "I have spoken to our relevant department, they state the product is fine, it's just a finest powder due to the new production process. If you're unhappy with this product, please feel free to leave your feedback on our website." I hope the old version is re-introduced soon.
I've bought Whole Psyllium Husks for some time now and have always been pleased at the good texture but the.last batch was just husk powder. It wasn't how it was described so where the name of Whole Husks came from I don't know. I was very disappointed and thought the wrong product had been delivered but soon realized it hadn't when I read how products can look different being sourced from different places.
This used to be great as whole husks but they've changed it recently so you just get a rubbish powder. I won't be buying these again as you've taken a 5 star product and made it 1 star.Goes Well With:The old type
Not like before where you had flakes, this stuff is now fine powder, so fine in fact when you open the packet it puffs up in the air. Not happy.
As others have said, the product has now changed to a fine powder when previously it used to be whole psyllium husks. I used to put a scoop of this into my porridge in the morning but I cannot do this anymore as it makes my porridge into an elastic-y lump which is inedible. I'm very disappointed at how this has changed as there was no warning to say. It is also virtually impossible to drink with water without feeling like you're going to be sick. Why change a good product MyProtein? :(Goes Well With:Nothing - it's gross
Psyllium husk mixed only with water - horrible (better mixed with cordial). However, add a scoop or two to vanilla protein base (or any other flavour), not only do you not taste the husk but it acts as a thickening agent - perfect. Add crushed ice, husk and vanilla powder with fresh espresso and blend and you've got yourself a frap'! It's great for fibre bulking of the bowel, keeps a regular bowel action. Word of warning: do not mix husk with boiling water as it turns into a mucous viscosity. Great value, delivery is always prompt and great fibre product, especially if you have a wheat/gluten allergy/intolerance.Goes Well With:Any protein powder.
Echoing the previous sentiments really. Previous product was great (whole husks). The new batch are powdered and thus not really ideal. They swell too quickly to drink. If you put enough product in the shake to be effective, its undrinkable. Enough to be drinkable and its ineffective. Can you please revert back to the previous formulation?
This product is completely different to the previous batches I have had. The old stuff was fibrous and mixed up to a pleasantly tasting and textured drink. Also, it worked well. This new stuff is just like Pollycell walpape paste. It is a very fine powder which sets to a disgustingly textured paste and is virtually impossible to swallow. Other users have made similar comments and I feel we have been conned. Either replace this with the old stuff or refund the money.
If your reading this now you must add this to your cart, had belly ache for first 2 days as it cleared out my guts and now every time I go to the toilet it's nothing but 1 wipe wonders. Great for feeling full when added to a protein shake
Psyllium husks are great and I've been taking them for years now as I believe that they help maintain a healthy gut. They can be pricey and so you can understand why I was so happy to find these at myprotein at such a "good" price however, as with just about everything, you get what you pay for... The myprotein psyllium husks have been ground into such a fine powder that they don't dissolve/blend very well and tend to bob around in globule like forms...They also taste pretty bad compared to other alternatives. I have called up on 3 separate occasions asking if a coarser variety could be bought perhaps blended (as a well known health store offers) with iIulin, Lactobacillus, Acidophilus and Bifidobacterium Bifidum and on all 3 occasions I was told that a coarser variety was previously available via Myprotein and that numerous people had requested it's return.. perhaps this review may stimulate the myprotein buyers to see what is available in the market and come back to their many clients with a superior offering to the one currently available.Goes Well With:Water... just about
I use to be a regular user of this product for a long time and it use to have a good texture. The fibres were not too fine. However, now they are finely ground like sand or powder which makes them difficult to mix and have a bad texture. I hope you go back to your previous method of grinding them.
I am a huge fan of adding Psyllium husks to shakes. I have used the old 'whole husks' and the newer 'powder'. Some of the reviewers below seem to be confused as to the difference between husks and powder. The powder is made by grinding the husks down so that the gel produced is finer and has less of a grainy texture. If you are adding psyllium to a shaker, or mix your protein with a spoon, the powder may be a better choice because of its finer texture. If, like me you, mix in a blender, then it all gets turned to fine stuff anyway. Both forms of psyllium will provide the same health benefits (e.g. increase your daily fibre intake, help to make you feel more full post shake when dieting/cutting, help with the loo etc).Goes Well With:protein powders
I'm yet another VERY disappointed customer who bought what I thought was the same product I had previously used - WHOLE Psyllium Husks. This product has been changed to Psyllium Husks Powder and is no longer the advertised product. (Trading Standards issue?) I need the whole husks and the powder is not a suitable substitute. I could have bought cheap powder from any other vendor & won't buy this again from Myprotein until the advertised product is reinstated.Goes Well With:Woodchip wallpaper & a paste brush.
The old product, when it was whole husks was far nicer, this new version is unmixable, tastes terrible and floats on top of whatever you mix it with like sour milk. I used to mix this with my orange juice, as it worked like a pulp in smooth OJ but now its horrible and tastes terrible. The old stuff was almost sweet but this new product, as someone else stated, is like flour and tastes about the same. Hopefully they take this criticism on board and go back to the old style, or I'll be swapping providers.
As a customer who has purchased psyllium husks flakes for a few years now I was upset to open my newly purchased packet to find this fine powder. Initially I thought that my protein had sent me the wrong product. By the number of reviews surrounding this subject I hope my protein change the product back to what it was.
Just to reiterate the previous reviews. The composition of this product has changed from the previous excellent product offered by MyProtein. The batch I received (77779) was a very fine powder and not the same consistency of previous batches I've receive from MyProtein. It forms a glutanous substance very, very quickly. Whilste trying to consume it in the previous fashion (scoop of psyllium with a full shaker full of water), I just ended up with a mess in a glass. I tried again and found I was able to consume it by taking very small doses multiple times in quick succession. Seemed to work, for a few minutes... then i had a vomiting session in the bathroom! I'd suggest being very cautious with the dosage when you first try this. Maybe taking lots of small doses throughout the day rather than one large dose in the morning as I'm used to.
Taste is horrible and can be quite overpowering, so had to experiment with serving size. Half a small scoop is fine for my morning shake. Seems effective.Goes Well With:Impact whey
For many people, a good fibre supplement is going to have as large an impact on your health as any other supplement you can buy over the counter. Ranging from blood profile to anti-cancer. These Psyllium Husks blend particularly well with Impact Whey Latte flavour, it's almost like a dessert - especially if you follow a low carb lifestyle. (avoid consuming post-workout.)Goes Well With:Impact Whey - Latte Flavour
Mixes very well, and does the job. Wish the larger size bags (1kg upwards) were still available. Still excellent value.
