Bought this product and was skeptical, but was pleasantly surprised. Yes, the initial smell is fishy. Yes, the texture is a little rubbery and not so... ricey. However! This product is virtually calorie FREE, compared to the usually high calorie content of rice this product is a good substitute. Of course it isnt going to be just like rice, but once its covered in some sauce and mixed with something (e.g. chilli) there isnt that much of a difference! Not sure i could eat it plain, but this product doesnt deserve to be criticised because its not rice - its still good for so little calories.Goes Well With:Chilli, curry...
Theses are great for adding more to a plate. They work wondefully as a filler for your meal to mix in, it helps make you feel like you've ate more without the calories. The rice on its own isn't great, as it tastes bland and is rubbery, but the fact that it is rice sized makes it great.Goes Well With:Every hot meal
I had to come on here to re-read the reviews about this because I was certain people rated it highly therefore I bought 2 boxes. Its texture is literally like rubber in rice form and barely changes texture when cooked. If you mix it with chicken or pasta you MAY be fooled but its really quite bizarre. I advise to buy one box to start with and try it first haha. Goes Well With:Chicken and Pasta... sort of.
I purchased these after reading the reviews and was very intrigued as to what I was going to receive. What you need to understand is that it is a low calorie alternative to rice therefore it is not going to taste exactly the same as your usual microwavable rice. I have to say, I was shocked by the texture as it is slightly rubbery and I would say that it doesn't taste of much however at only 7 calories a bag it is absolutely perfect to add to a meal instead of your normal stodgy rice. Would definitely suggest ordering one box and trying for yourself.Goes Well With:Salmon, Chicken anything that you would usually have with rice for an evening meal.
Was unsure about this but I preferre these so much over rice now, easy to eat and moist as they come in bags with a little water. Been mixing them with my chicken as a filler and works exactly how I would like it to.Goes Well With:chicken/peri peri sauces etc
My Rice is exactly the same as the standard konjac rice from EatWater etc which, if you've had it before, you will know has basically zero taste and feels a BIT like chewing tiny bits of rubber. However, to feel almost uncomfortably full after a little sachet of this stuff and for zero calories it's basically a prayer answered. You can't use it to replace rice in every instance - it's not good on its own, or cold - but pan fried in with something saucy or thrown into a stir fry and you basically can't tell the difference from normal white rice. It's a low-carbers dream! Good value when bought on a deal and the single serve packs mean you can't eat so much you make yourself resemble a space hopper (unless, like, you wanted to) which can only be a good thing.
put the rice with a sauce and I cant really tell the difference I have 2 bags at a time with chicken and tunaGoes Well With:mayo and I like yogurt and mint sauce
Looks like rice and has a similar texture but is pretty flavorless. However, it does the job. You can use it in any dish that would have rice including salads. Drain it well after rinsing and before heating otherwise it can be a little bit soggy.Goes Well With:Prawns and salmon
Buy this product if you like rubbery, fishy rice! Never again 100g of wholegrain rice is 23g carbs so I just made room for it instead
If you're expecting rice you'll be disappointed! It's like rice but has no taste. However, mix it with any sauce or mincemeat etc and it tastes fine. It's edible and it has virtually no carbs what more do you want! Went through the first batch and ordered a second lot. Portion size looks small, but it is enough as it fills you up.Goes Well With:Tomatoe based sauces. Curry sauces...all healthy eating ones of course!
This is absolutely disgusting. Smells like fish and has a awful textureGoes Well With:The bin
I eat no more than 20g of carbs a day which is not just really hard to stick to, but I miss my starchy carbs like pizza pasta and rice so much! This product really helps as it has the texture and consistency of rice, doesn't taste bad and most of all, it feels like I'm eating rice YAYGoes Well With:Anything!
These are really expensive for what they are. and these ones arent great at all. ive had another brands from groupon which are tons better. im really dissapointed with these! tiny portions aswellGoes Well With:egg fried rice 5 spices
Great for adding to meals when dieting. I typically half my usual amount of normal carb-heavy rice, and add in a whole bag of One of these to bulk the meal out but only adding 7 calories Great with chicken and riceGoes Well With:Chicken, beef, fish... CLA, green tea
I was a bit sceptical about the pouch sizes when they arrived but once I began to add it to my meal I realised it was a good portion as part of a meal. I stir fried the rice in coconut oil with carrots and broccoli served with chicken and it was delicious. It doesn't have a normal texture of rice, slightly more rubbery but absolutely fine. Especially at 7 calories it bulks up meals really well. Give it a try, don't believe horror stories about taste/smell. Goes Well With:Stir fry or sauces
Great addition to any meal that's looking to cut the carbs. Goes Well With:I've used mine for stir frys, currys and even added it to soups to be more filling.
Brilliant product, trying to drop weight and sometimes veg and a source of protein can get a little boring. This adds more to the meal and is great for an extra boost when I need a bigger meal without all the calories. Texture is a little rubbery but that doesn't bother me in the slightest. It also does smell quite fishy when you first open it but the smell goes as you start cooking it so again not problem at all. Very please and will definitely order this again!
The rice reminds me of fisheggs, and makes me gag a little when eating it. Tasted great though, especially mixed with curry but i could not eat this without sauce or by itsselfGoes Well With:Curry
Great idea but tastes like rubber, disgusting on its own but mix In with real rice and does the business at cutting carbs! Goes Well With:Real rice or some kind of sauce
Perfect thing for dieting! No carbs and practically no calories! The one thing is that it differs a bit from original rice. Worth the money!Goes Well With:Sauses, protein, chicken.
