What is inositol?
Structurally similar to glucose, 100% Inositol is a vitamin-like compound which is an important component of cell membranes and cellular signalling. It can be found in both animals and plants, or made in a laboratory.
Often referred to as vitamin B8, inositol is not actually a vitamin, but a carbocyclic sugar, which is common in high quantities in tissues. Your kidneys produce roughly 2g of inositol each day, but the highest concentration of inositol can be found in your brain, where it is involved in the function of your brain’s chemical messengers.
What is myo-inositol?
There are numerous types of inositol, with two commonly used forms being myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol (DCI). Myo-inositol is the most common form of inositol and it is found in most plants and animals.
Myo-inositol was previously considered to be a member of vitamin B complex, vitamin B8. It is no longer deemed to be an essential nutrient, as your body can produce inositol itself from glucose. A nutrient is only regarded as essential if it cannot be produced by the body and has to be sourced from elsewhere.
- Important for function of the nervous system
- Contribute to mental performance
- Contributes to mental concentration
Found naturally in various foods, our 100% Inositol is a super-convenient way of increasing your daily intake.
What are the benefits of inositol powder?
Your cells use myo-inositol, transforming it into phosphatidylinositol, which is an important part of cell membranes. It is also used by the body to influence how the hormone insulin behaves.
Which foods contain inositol?

Great alternative to antidepressants
I was reluctant to go back onto antidepressants because of the less than pleasant side effects, but I was getting pretty desperate to do something. I was tearful all the time & my head was like cotton wool. I certainly wasn't able to function properly at work & had no recollection of some events at all. I was contemplating resigning as I couldn't cope. I stumbled across a recommendation for Inositol & am taking it with Choline Bitartrate as another reviewer recommended. So far it's been less than a week & although I'm not saying it's a miracle cure, it feels pretty amazing. Placebo effect? I don't know, time will tell. The change in my ability to go about my life without fear of bursting into tears or my head exploding from the anxiety I was suffering is worth 100 times the price. If it's a placebo effect, I don't care, the mind is a very powerful force, so long may it continue
Report this reviewPCOS trial
I bought this on advice from PCOS sufferers. It doesnt mix particularly well with anything, and leaves a horrible gritty taste - also with higher dosages it gives you a "runny tummy" - it has however shown an impact in regards to my PCOS - so you have to weigh up the positives and negativesGoes Well With:Protein shakes (mix with these shakes and you cant taste it)
Report this reviewAmazing!
I suffer terribly with PCOS and bought this on the off chance that it might have an impact on the regularity of my periods. I’ve been taking 10 mini scoops a day for the past month and for the first time in my life I’ve experienced a period when my tracker app says I should! I wasn’t expecting results so quickly. Completely tasteless when mixed into squash, slightly sweet taste in water but not unpleasant at all. Mixes so easily you barely need to shake your bottle or stir in a glass and it’s gone! Will continue to take this for a long time and hope that it helps with my other symptoms too. Have already noticed a slight difference in excess hair growth slowing down. Goes Well With:Squash, water.
Report this reviewAmazing for anxiety
I don’t normally write reviews but thought I should. I had been suffering with anxiety for years and just recently it started to spiral out of control. I had to take time off work, I could barely leave the house without crippling panic attack’s and the doctor gave my anti depressants which were horrendous. I wanted to find a more natural approach. I’d done some online research and heard about the anti anxiety effects of inositol. My protein had a good offer on so I thought ‘why not’. I’m so glad I did. After about 20 mins after my first (small) dose I felt so much better. More relaxed, less negative thoughts. I’ve now been taking this for 3 weeks and I’ve worked my way up to taking 3grams 4 times a day. You should start low as the only side effect for me anyway was copious amounts of wind (ahem). Much to my husbands amusement. It’s now starting to subside buts it’s a small price to pay for feeling the best I’ve felt in years. And when I say the best, i mean I feel ‘normal’ again which is amazing. Sorry it’s such a long review but I love this stuff. Goes Well With:I mix mines with orange squash. It mixes brilliantly.

Bought this to try self treating pcos and so far (its been 2 weeks) I have been pleased with the results. I have more energy, have lost a couple pounds and just generally feel better in myself. This is excellent value and also very fast delivery. Will be ordering again!
Report this reviewMiracle supplement for OCD
I've been buying inositol from Myprotein for 2 years now, after reading a couple of articles about its effectiveness for treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder. I've suffered from severe OCD for about 21 years. My OCD has always tended to gravitate towards obtrusive thought patterns, but the weird ticks have been there as well - touch the light switch with both hands at the same time, that kind of nonsense. Anyway since taking Inositol at 5g's, and then upping to 10g's in the last year - be warned it can produce negative effects on your digestive system at first, diarrhoea, cramps etc. So start at a low dose and gradually up it to a level were you feel your symptoms being reduced. Also be patient, and don't expect any miracles over night. I'd say it took at least 3 - 4 months before I noticed any considerable reductions in my ocd. I hope I don't jinx the benefits I've received while taking Inositol, but in 2 years I've gone from being riddled with obtrusive thoughts and the anxiety this state of mind can generate. To rarely exhibiting any ocd tendencies, and even when I do get the off obtrusive thought it carries with it no weight or importance - I just shrug it off and move on. I only wish someone would have handed me a bag of Inositol all those years ago instead of that pharmaceutical garbage, which helped neither my anxieties, depression or ocd; but introduced a plethora of side effects instead. Anyway I can't rate this stuff enough, but remember everyone's different; so what worked for me might not work for you and vice versa.
Report this reviewCan’t praise enough
I have PCOS alongside various mental health conditions that induce anxiety/obsessive thinking/low mood. I initially bought this for pcos and I cannot believe how much this has helped in only a few weeks. My carb cravings and awful appetite have diminished. I have energy throughout the whole day and my hair falls almost half as much. Amazing and I know the best is yet to come. I take four scoops three times a day as I saw somebody else do this in the comments. I think this around 2400mg. What I did not expect is the benefits it would have on my mental health. My obsessive thinking is almost gone or does not bother me anymore when it crops up. My low mood has lifted. I feel more grounded and stable. I am no where near as anxious as I have been for the best part of this year. For the cost this is incredible and so much better than the nasty side effects of medication. Please try this! Wish more people knew of its benefitsGoes Well With:You can literally just scoop it into your mouth or have in water. I also put in oats and hot drinks. Anything. Tastes sweet.

I ordered my first pack of inosotol from my protein as it was the best value for money , also knowing it was coming from a reputable company for peace of mind. I suffer from pcos and have herd amazing reviews so thought I would give it a go. I have had no side effects / no upset tummy. I have felt better in myself. Not as hungry. It's too early for me to see if it's helping my periods but fingers crossed it helps as I have been irregular for years. I have also changed my diet while I have been taking this to a low carb / gluten clean eating diet. I take 4 scoops 3 times a day, so just under 2500mg I believe ? I will increase in time but thought this was enough to start with. Goes Well With:I have this with orange dilute or just as a shot with water. It has hardly any taste. Just slightly sweet if drank on its own.

This stuff is amazing. I hadn’t had a period in 8 months and the drs couldn’t help me without hormonal treatment/the pill. I started taking beginning of April and had a period end of April and have since had another natural period & a normal cycle. Amazing stuff! Mixes OK with squash, much better in your coffee/tea! Basically if you have PCOS I really advise it! I take 5g morning and evening. Goes Well With:Coffee!
