This is undoubtedly the best value meal replacement formula, especially if you buy it in bulk, and it tastes great too! For me, the chocolate flavour is the best but vanilla is very drinkable too. I've been drinking 2 of these a day without getting tired of the taste. That was until and that brings me on to the problem. There is one major drawback for me, and it is significant, hence the 3 stars. The use of brown rice syrup. I can see why, it is after all a very economical way of sweetening without the same stigma attached to it that other sugars have. It also helps boost the calorific content of the formula. Why is this an issue? Besides the fact that it has an extremely high glycemic index, it is the presence of arsenic that is of real concern. Anyone who regularly consumes anything containing brown rice syrup is in effect poisoning themselves. It's still not clear how dangerous this is but it is serious enough to worry the European Food Safety Body. If Myprotein can adapt their formula and replace brown rice syrup with another safer sweetener then I will happily return to using it.
This is the best plant based protein shake I have found to date. great tasting and mix-ability! The vanilla taste never gets old too.Goes Well With:water is the best with this. You can use almond or soya milk but it gets turns quite thick.
Notice the Huel confederate's remarks? They're fake. Shills planted by Huel. I doubt the Huel fan boys that are slamming this product ever even purchased this product. They've obviously been deployed here for a predictable Huel sanctioned smear campaign. Of course this product isn't Huel! Just like Huel isn't Soylent. Soylent is a lower priced alternative to real food. In the same way, Huel is a lower priced alternative to Soylent. Analogously, MP's Whole Fuel is a lower priced alternative to Huel. In each case of "The Real Thing" V "The Alternative", there are naturally differences and tradeoffs. I like Whole Fuel. It exceeded my expectations.Vanilla is my favourite. It would be good to have an unsweetened/unflavoured option though. If you're not into sweet stuff, mix this with either MP's Vegan Blend or with your favourite oat flour. The finer ground the out flour, the better). Mixing this in the right proportions with something flavourless based on your own tastes and nutrition needs, will lessen the sweetness to whatever level you prefer. Goes Well With:Water, Soya Milk, MP's Vegan Blend
If the reviews on the Huel forum are to be believe this product is really spreading fear through their Camp. Its cheaper better tasting and all in all a much better product from a much more reliable brand. No wonder Huel have locked their forums to comment on Whole fuel, and their CEO has pinned a hastily written panic post to the home page. Keep it up Myprotein, which market will you conquer next?Goes Well With:The tears of your fallen competitors!
I was considering buying Huel for a long time after transitioning to a vegan diet (I DO find it hard to reach my protein macros!) but after receiving an email from MyProtein about Whole Fuel thought I'd give it a go considering the price. Bought the Natural Vanilla flavour and mixed 100g with 400ml water- it was thick, sweet but not overpoweringly so, in my opinion- if you have a sweet tooth it's actually really nice! Will probably whizz it up in the Nutribullet next time as a shaker does leave it with a few lumps but as a protein packed, super quick post-workout morning shake I am really impressed! And the macros are great, especially if you're in a calories deficit! Really filling as well. Would definitely recommend! Goes Well With:Water, plant milks, banana
This is the first nutrition product I have ever bought, my aim was to introduce a quick and healthy breakfast meal into my diet to help stave off junk food cravings before lunch. The product has definitely helped me achieve that goal and I am no longer snacking on chocolate coated flapjacks which was my vice! I have lost a couple of pounds as part of this and other efforts to cut down on the junk. The product contains ingredients which sound very healthy, but it's impossible to say if it's had wider health benefits. A couple of gripes though; firstly the recommendation is "100g or 3 scoops" per 500ml of water. The scoop included turns out to be 70mg, so three scoops is way too much! So be aware of that. Other thing is the flavour; as I'm having this for breakfast the last thing I want is something super sweet. It seems pretty much all sports nutrition products are either fruity sweet, or chocolatey sweet. My solutions was to put a shot of coffee in with the Natural Vanilla flavour. Just a couple of teaspoons of instant using hot water to dissolve, then put in the water, powder and ice-cubes. It's now a really nice drink I look forward to in the morning, the coffee nicely balances out the seeetness of the flavouring. Hope this helps! Goes Well With:Coffee (natural vanilla flavour)
Guys, this is waaay too sweet. Why add so much sweetener to it? I don't even think I will be able to stomach another one :( Please can you make an unflavoured version so we can add our own flavouring.
I have been using Huel since it started. Big advocate of the product, but when I googled huel to place another order this came up. I took a look and due to the price I thought I give it a try. Personally I like the taste. Yes it's sweet, but the sweetener in huel is also very sweet and quite artificial tasting. The vanilla in this tastes better. Is it better than huel??? Well it's a got a decent macro profile, and a good price, so I'll stick with this a while. Freed up some money so I could buy some Vivo Perform which is an outstanding quality vegan protein that is more than just protein. I mention that here because it would be great if Myprotein offered a product like Vivo Perform too. Nothing wrong with a bit of competition in the market place.
Great tasting, easy to mix and a whole lot cheaper than another brand on the market that offers the exact same product. Huel be talking about this product to all your friends who want a high quality, great tasting vegan meal replacement that isn't extortionately priced. Goes Well With:A new years effort to get fitter and lose some pounds
It is smoother and a little sweeter than Huel, but unless you are extremely fussy, this is fine! The vanilla flavour is certainly not dissimilar to Huel. By the way, I only use 50g and make it up to about 400ml of water as I don't like it too thick. I find this excellent value for money and I hope myprotein continues to sell this product long into the future! Goes Well With:Just water ('cause I'm hardcore, obvs)
Like many others here I've tried Huel before and noticed that MP have brought out a slightly cheaper version. Ingredients-wise and in terms of nutrition it's pretty much the same and serves the same purpose for me (high-protein breakfast on the go). I mix the Vanilla flavour with water and coffee and leave it in the fridge overnight and the thickness is the same, flavour is slightly different (bit sweeter, kind of tastes like melted vanilla ice cream) and unlike Huel there are no little bits of oat or whatever. I actually like the bits in Huel as it feels like you're getting more full as you're chewing. All in all this is a great substitute for Huel at a cheaper price.Goes Well With:Coffee
Straight to the point with the pros. Its effective and its cheap, (for what you`re) yet somehow, I cant see myself buying the product again. Its nutritional content boasts some impressive numbers with all the vitamins and minerals you could want in a shake. But, like many things... this is just to good to be true. I went for the chocolate flavour, just to stray away from adding to the plethora of vanilla shakes I have tucked away. BIG MISTAKE. It mixes like 30 parts concrete to 1 part water. Yet the shake being thicker than tar isn't the worst of the problems. One could genuinely mistake its taste for wall paper paste, I would have gagged less trying to swallow a whole banana. Judging by the reviews it seems to be the chocolate flavour that tastes this way. Maybe there`s hope for the other flavours. However. I can`t deny the effectiveness for such a good value. If you`re used to the taste of something you`d find under the sink, by all means give the chocolate flavour a shot...Goes Well With:Lots of Dilution
To my personal tastes, the chocolate flavour is unpalatable and triggers my gag reflex which isn't ideal. It's not like I'm not used to shakes - I am, it just has a very paticular flavour that seems 'plasticy' or 'synthetic' for want of a better word. So I am now experimenting with various blends with fruit and huel. Super great value though and does succeed in keeping hunger at bay.
Using 3 scoops makes this taste too thick. I got the Chocolate one and to be fair it does not taste like chocolate, but rather an extremely unappetizing nutty flavor. The chocolate does nothing. I do not see myself using it as the taste is incredibly off putting.Goes Well With:Just don't buy the chocolate one.
Started using this as a cheap and quick way to get a good lunch while at work. I normally work through lunches anyway. It's really quick and keeps me satisfied until dinner time with no afternoon slump. Got the 5kg chocolate bag, it's a good chocolate flavour (especially for a vegan shake) but by the time I've finished it i'll be ready to try the vanilla. I've tried Huel too, this beats it on taste and cost hands down! Nice one, MP.Goes Well With:Coconut Milk, Maca Powder
Bought this after MRP had been discontinued. Whilst the various flavours are ok, i loved the flexibility of unflavoured MRP, to which i could simply add milkshake powder. That tasted way better than flavoured Whole Fuel does. So, whilst this is a good MR powder, please add an unflavoured version.
I've only been using it just over a week so far. Taste of the Vanilla flavour isn't unpleasant but it's not particularly nice either, a bit too sweet, hopefully the chocolate one is better. It mixes very well in the blender for just a few seconds, like a thick milkshake. I don't find it as filling as other brands like Huel. I find myself getting hungry in the evenings and especially later at night resulting in wanting to snack whereas hunger never really kicked in at all with Huel. Still, i plan on sticking with it a bit longer as my body may just be taking time to get used to it.
Having taken Huel for the past few months i was excited to see this new product however it tastes very artificial and not that great even when mixing with coffee or mixed berries. It's also too sweet and i usually like sweet. It mixes well but i'll be sticking with Huel.
First time i tried these kind of products. The powder was fine and easy to blend, however i cant get round the over whelming taste of sweetners. I'd much prefer a natural sugar but it seems almost all my protein shakes have sucralose as the sweetner and thats i can taste for hours afterwards. If they change then i'll try them again but its a shame as ruining a vegan product with such an unnatural product seems counter productive. Oh well back to the drawing board. :(
The vegan supplement I have been waiting for. I haven't tasted the other flavours but the original natural vanilla tastes great. Only tried it with water as I want to keep calories down. Excellent product great price and I have 10 kg sitting here ready to get through!Goes Well With:Water
