Glucosamine is a naturally occurring amino sugar. It is a building block of cartilage, which absorbs impact and cushions our joints when we move. Glucosamine is, therefore, super-important for anyone taking part in high-intensity exercise.
What is Glucosamine Sulphate?
Glucosamine sulphate is a combination of glucosamine and either sodium or potassium chloride. Whilst glucosamine is the active agent, sulphate is the delivery method of this agent to our bodies so it can be absorbed.
Glucosamine sulphate supplements are commonly sourced from shellfish but can also be produced in a laboratory.
What is glucosamine?
Glucosamine is an amino sugar, which occurs naturally in the body and can also be found elsewhere in nature, such as in shrimp, crab, lobster, fungi and animal bones.
It is used by your body to make various chemicals, such as glycosaminoglycan and glycoprotein, which are in turn utilised to build your joints. This includes ligaments, tendons and synovial fluid. The synovial fluid allows your bones to freely move across one another whilst minimising friction and allowing joints to move without causing pain.
Where is glucosamine sourced from?
Aside from being found naturally in the human body, glucosamine can also be found in shellfish. Glucosamine sulphate is therefore often produced from shrimp, crab and lobster, though it can be manufactured in laboratories.

God Tablet
I had a cartilage problem behind my right knee and was really struggling to push off that knee and bend down, it was really uncomfortable. I did some research and saw this and all the reviews raving about it and I was like no its too good to be true, but I tried it and it really is a brilliant supplement, 2 weeks of taking it and my knee pain is almost gone and its alot stronger aswell. Like I said it the title, it's a god tablet! Goes Well With:Alpha Men
Report this reviewExcellent product
I recently started running, bulked too long and got fat af. Anyways that's beside the point. Knees got awful weak (arms were heavy). lol jk. In all seriousness the product help relieve pain big time. I have been taking it for about two weeks now and it has worked wonders. Literally all the pain has dissipated. And for those who care, yes the running paid off I'm no longer chubby. Though strength is gone. Would recommend.Goes Well With:Us select group of dipsticks who think running is a good form of cardio.

Report this reviewReally effective
My GP recommended that I try glucosamine for the osteo-arthritis in my knees. After just two weeks, the condition is much improved. I am amazed and delighted, as I can continue to take long walks - my preferred form of exercise.
Report this reviewEffective
I take one of these daily with my breakfast. I feel like they help my joints considering how much I train, and they are great value.
Report this reviewGreat price
I bought these after my doctor suggested I cut back on Cod Liver Oil, and my trainer suggested Glucosamine instead. I compete in a wide variety of sports/events, triathlon, running, cycling, mountain biking etc and so I am keen to look after my joints. These are fairly large tablets but they are relatively easy to swallow. Goes Well With:Water
