Dr. Tom Brownlee is an Associate Professor in Applied Sport Sciences at the University of Birmingham, bringing over 15 years of experience in elite sport as a practitioner, educator, mentor, and researcher. He holds a PhD from Liverpool John Moores University, where his research focused on strength training in soccer players during his tenure at Liverpool Football Club.
Tom’s expertise encompasses performance areas, from strength and conditioning and physiology to nutrition. He is particularly interested in long-term athlete development and training load management. Tom has contributed to over 30 peer-reviewed publications and has provided consultancy services and worked with a number of elite sporting organisations, including the English Premier League, Formula 1, and the NFL.
His blend of academic rigour and practical experience ensures that he brings valuable insights into applying sports science principles. Tom’s contributions to the board will support evidence-based strategies in performance, aligning with Myprotein’s commitment to scientific excellence.
