

Dr. Ishrat Ahmed
Group Medical Director & THG Private GPDr. Ishrat is the in-house GP at THG where she has created a CQC-registered medical practice within a corporate environment, one of the only corporate GP practices nationally.
She has previously worked for the NHS, supporting and supervising students and doctors in training. She has experience in general practice, mental health, and women's health, and has completed a diploma in Women's Health (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) as well as a PGCert in medical education and leadership. Dr Ishrat has been providing GP clinics both face-to-face and remotely for all THG employees for 2.5 years and has been a doctor for over 11 years.
Dr Ishrat provides wellbeing talks across the Group, which encompass practical lifestyle strategies to help with physical and mental health. She has a keen interest in a proactive approach to improving health and lifestyle.
Longterm condition management is the cornerstone of her work, and Dr Ishrat has a passion in addressing these by supporting lifestyle changes which help to not just prevent, but treat and sometimes potentially reverse underlying metabolic disease such as type 2 diabetes, metabolic liver disease, obesity and hypertension.
Her interests include lifestyle medicine, longevity and wellbeing, and provides advice using her nutrition foundational knowledge, which is a core aspect of overall health.
Dr Ishrat is also a perinatal GP champion. She offers specialist support to people who are struggling with their mental health for the first time and people who have seen their existing mental health problems exacerbated by pregnancy or parenthood. Working across Greater Manchester, she delivers education and training sessions to improve knowledge and understanding of mental health and provides free access to face-to-face support.
