Tastes good, much like any other hot chocolate. Mixes really smooth with an electric hand blender and the protein froths it up so you get a nice frothy drink. The downside is that it has a sucralose aftertaste, which is a bit off putting. Would be better as an unsweetened version I think.
I bought this a month ago as I have an extremely sweet tooth and thought I could use this as a replacement. I followed the guideline of a scoop and it was far too sickly and so put to the back of the cupboard. Have just made again but using a normal portion if you was using proper hot chocolate of a heaped teaspoon and wow it's delicious! Definitely hitting the sugar spot. Does have sugar but nowhere near as bad as a chocolate replacement. Would recommend very yummy. Goes Well With:A good movie and blanket on cold days.
Mixes alright for me, tastes the same as most hot chocolates. When I drink most protein drinks I struggle, I get an indigestion kind of feeling so they take me ages to finish, with this it just takes a minute. Due to the price being even cheaper than a lot of other protein powders I am going to be using this a lot. It tastes best with milk, but still decent with water, I microwave a little over 90 seconds and think it'd be fine around 2 minutes. For the taste, digestion, treat with biscuits, get this.Goes Well With:Milk, water
This product has to be the greatest protein product I have ever tasted. I'm usually a little skeptical of buying such products as generally I have to, against my wanting, endure and not enjoy it. However, this is a fantastic tasting, protein packed and high flavored powder that is great before bed.
Was very pleased when MyProtein had this hot chocolate up and in all honesty I am very impressed with the taste of it! It does not taste like the real high calorie hot chocolate but its a very close representation of it. I would say 85% real taste was very smooth, very easy and quick to make. I find its best with milk or even better soya milk. Hunger and craving wise it did the trick. I had mine just before I went to bed and did not wake up in the middle of the night hungry. all in all I give this thumbs up! I will be buying again!
but sweeter, and creamier. I would have given this 4 stars but it's just a little too sweet, otherwise quite similar to Cadbury's Hot Chocolate. I tried following the instructions, but found it mixed better when heating the milk first, then adding the hot chocolate to my old shaker and mixing it with my hand held blender. Adding additional impact whey didn't affect the sweetness or taste. I'll still use this but it's not quite chocolately enough, and a bit too sweet to have every day. One scoop works out at about 5 teaspoons. So seems good value. Too early to tell whether this will help with my increased protein (and strength) goals.Goes Well With:Milk. Other whey protein, non fruit flavours.
This is a lovely Hot chocolate if made right. I made it with boiling water and blended with folk and omg how disgusting, lumps of chocolate in your mouth. I now make it with 300mls of Almond milk 1 scoop of chocolate and blend with a whisk, put in microwave for 3 mins ( BIG jug needed ) as it boils over. And then pour into your favorite mug....... ENJOY xxxx I am now back to buy some more
I thought I'll try this as it was 40% off. Unfortunately it's not very good. It's sweet but not chocolaty enough and has an artificial flavour. Only tried it with water. I normally have Options 40kcals hot chocolate which has much better flavour. Won't be buying this again. Stick to normal whey protein.
It's not unpleasant tasting, however, the product that I've received has been cut with pea protein isolate... Most people probably wouldn't know, however I happen to have used pea protein isolate every day for many years therefore I know the taste and texture inside out, and they are absolutely unmistakable. The powder is thick, creamy and chalky/floury, and when you press the bag, the powder makes a squeaky sound. The texture thins when the powder is mixed with a hot liquid, decreasing the likelihood of anyone noticing, but when you mix it with a cold or room temperature liquid, the powder is thick, floury, creamy and non-dissolving. There are definitely dairy proteins in here as stated, but there is also a percentage of pea protein, which is very cheap. Tut tut My Protein. You aren't the first protein powder retailer to cut one of your products with pea protein isolate, and I'm sure you won't be the last..
Lovely hot chocolate, nice and rich! Great for before bed! Decent casein content!! Love it!
Really tasty !!I have one a day , really fills me up and picks me up when tired from training. I add hazelnut milk , tastes divine ha Goes Well With:Hazelnut milk
I wasn't sure about ordering this but I am so glad I did! The powder mixed well with milk and the taste is amazing. It's quite sweet but that is what I like in a hot chocolate. The only issue I had was when it was warming in the microwave and it bubbled over the top a little bit. I will try it on a different setting next time! Over all I am very impressed with this product :)Goes Well With:Milk
To be honest I don't normally drink hot chocolate but I found this to be very pleasant indeed. Make sure you mix it well beforehand, put it in the microwave for a minute or two, and you're done. You've got yourself a great tasting treat with a decent amount of protein. My wife, who normally loves hot chocolate, found this to be too sweet but for me, it's lovely. I can see her point though because you need a sweet tooth to really enjoy it. Obviously you're not really going to see any gains by drinking this stuff but that's not the point. Use it as a replacement for those times when you're craving a high-calorie, unhealthy, high-sugar treat and take all the guilt away, whilst getting some extra quality protein down you.Goes Well With:Protein cookie
Perfect at a evening protien hit...taste lovely and mixes fine with water! I found the taste no different than when mixed with milk! It's nice and thick and very satisfying. I made a salted caramel drink...hot chocolate, toffee flavour drops and a sprinkling of rock salt!! AMAZING! Goes Well With:Water or milk
Love this product. It mixes well and tastes good. I don't heat it up, but just mix it with milk to increase the protein and improve the taste. Please create a version without the unhealthy Sucralose though... I don't like to ingest artificial sweeteners. If it really needs one, could you not use Stevia instead?Goes Well With:Raw milk
Ordered and was expecting no taste and for it to just be a waste but was willing to try. Glad I did, this tastes amazing. Beats a Costa hot chocolate (with he extra toppings) any day!! If you follow instructions on reverse of pack this will make the perfect hot chocolate. I've used semi-skimmed milk and skimmed milk, both work perfect. I only use half scoop as full is over the 25g portion suggestion. Great taste, smooth and creamy. Slight disappointment it take longer to prepare than regular hot chocolate but can't fault otherwise. Goes Well With:Perfect alone
Perfect to curb those cravings on a cold night. Easy to make and good flavour. Was worried about it being powdery but it's not :)
I love this drink! It's easy to mix, tastes good and gives great results.
Tastes just like cadburys hot chocolate, maybe a bit thicker and creamier but none-the-less healthier. However, every time i make it, it leaves lumps. Tried mixing powder with small amount of milk then adding more milk which slightly reduces lumps but still leaves a few. Best bet is to buy an electric drinks whisk and use that.Goes Well With:Protein Pancakes, Impact Whey, Creatine Monohydrate
Very nice. I have mine with coconut milk. Very useful if you want a hot chocolate and need to top up your days protein. Great taste. Probably a bit heavy for me right before bed but fine a short while before (say 30 mins to an hour). For me overall a winner. Goes Well With:Coconut Milk.
Made mine with water. Heated in microwave for 2 mins. Taste is so lovely. Helps you overcome if having a sugar craving. Goes Well With:On its own or with protein muffin
This is soooooo good! Oh my!!!!! I was so so nervous about trying this as a lot of other protein drinks (from other brands) have proven to be very disappointing not to mention gross! However this protein hot chocolate drink is so tasty I can actually get it down and enjoy it! Yum yum yum! No lumpy bits!! Smooth comforting hot chocolate you don't have to feel guilty about! Plus in my case it arrived the next day. Very impressed!
Wow, now this stuff is sweet! Works best on mixing the 25 gramme serving, using the provided scoop, with some milk, stir to a paste then add hot water and serve. Doing this prevented the problems on the first attempt with lumps the size of sugar cubes The taste is pretty chocolately but very very sweet. Adding more milk makes it a bit creamier but there is always an over riding sweet taste. If you like sweet things like me that ain't a bad thing, but my training partner tried it and couldn't get past the first few sips. 15 g of protein is good, but it doesn't affect the overall consistency and the taste and texture is very much like Cadbury light chocolate but much sweeter. Recommended.Goes Well With:A time you want a nice hot drink with added protein
Great tasting drink! Tastes exactly like proper hot chocolate but with all the protein inside it!
Great flavour even with water, I was quite shocked how sweet it was, but I am definitely using it again. Good stuff!Goes Well With:Milk and instant oats for added protein and carbs
Absolutely amazing hot chocolate. It's one of the best hot chocolates I have had in a good while. It mixes really easy and doesn't take long to warm up in the microwave. great night time drink.
I love most of myprotein products, good quality, great value. Excellent customer service! However this protein hot chocolate is not one of the best out there. It is certainly the most reasonably priced that I have come across, but I find the artificial taste a bit too much to bear. I usually try to stay away from sucralose so maybe it's just that I don't have the palate for it. I find that mixing it with cocoa powder dulls down the sweet taste slightly. PLEASE myprotein consider a natural stevia version, I believe this would improve the taste considerably :) Goes Well With:Milk, almond milk, water, cocoa powder
I usually find the chocolate shakes a bit sickly after a while but the hot chocolate is completely different. Taking the advice of previous reviews doubting the mixability I mix using a blender and the results are great, adding in a small amount of cadburys hot choc to reduce the sweetness. tastes just as good with water as milk and a great option for anyone with a sweet tooth. will definately buy again!
Great taste but it does not mix well if you don't shake it before you put it in the cupGoes Well With:protein cookies ;p
Love this product, make great tasting froffy hot chocolate that is quite filling. It's great on an evening when I feel like I need a chocolate fix but don't want to spoil my diet with sugar. It's also a good bedtime drink because the slow release protein. I like to make mine with part water & part almond milk in a shaker (I probably use slightly more liquid than directions on pack), I then pour into a mug and microwave for 2 mins, stirring halfway. Perfect! Also, I've discovered another awesome treat it can make... Yummy chocolate pudding. I put a scoop into a small bowl and very gradually add small amounts of almond milk (could use any milk or just water), mix well until it forms a gooey mush, add vanilla essence, tablespoon of Greek yogurt, sweetener of choice (I use 2tsp stevia but honey is great too). Optional.. Add in a little Peanut butter, or any nut butter! Mix well. Eat straight away or put in freezer for 20-30mins so it sets like a chocolate mousse.
Tastes like any other hot chocolate but with some protein in it could replace your daily drinks.
I have a real sweet tooth and always struggle to fight the urge for chocolate but the protein hot chocolate meets all of my cravings. Plus the casein let's me know that I'm still getting my protein even when sleeping.Goes Well With:Protein pancake mix
If it were socially accepted and legally possible to marry a MyProtein product I would do it. And it would be this Protein Hot Chocolate. Its simply a gorgeous invention and if I were you I would order 10 bags right now. Go ahead. Do it. Please. ps. try adding cinnamon to the mix! YummyGoes Well With:Cinnamon
I initially didn't like this because the taste was far too sweet and not that chocolatey. Add a teaspoon of cocoa and it tastes a lot better, even when just using water. I now have one every evening and thoroughly enjoy it!Goes Well With:ZMA
Good for when you're done for the day and you have that sugar crave late at night taste great Goes Well With:Whole milk
Unfortunately I was a little disappointed with this product.. I found it hard to mix together, even with a vigorous shake and just an odd tasting chocolate. Sorry :(
As far as non-fattening hot chocolates go it's delicious, it mixes well although stir a LOT when you take it out of the microwave. Easy source of casein.
Great product if you need a slight boost to your daily protein intake. I mix it in a blender to get out all of the lumps - it is really smooth, and mixes well with anything (e.g. water, coconut/almond/soy milk). Only needs a quick zap in the microwave - bubbles over, so use a large mug! Would definitely buy again, although I think the bag I have will last me ages, which is great :)Goes Well With:Soy milk, almond milk, coconut milk, water. Especially good with vive soy vanilla milk!
Spot on, good amount of protein and great taste
Absolutely brill product. Full of taste and easy to mix. Is suitable for any time of the day when you fancy a warm beverage and on a plus. It's another protein source to keep building up you're daily protein intake Goes Well With:Either milk or water
Taste is excellent, mixes well. Only minus from the sweetener (sucralose) that is in my opinion too much. I have to mix this with whey protein isolate to cut down too sweet taste. But after doing that, the taste is super, just like normal hot chocolate. I will use this occasionally as a treat, not too often because of the artificial sweetener.Goes Well With:Water, milk.
Bought this because it was on offer and I'm a big hot chocolate fan. Unfortunately its so sweet I can't drink it. Mixed fine, with both water and milk but so artificially sweet that its un-drinkable. Can't comment on the effectiveness as I haven't been able to finish more that two mouth-fulls. My partner, who has a sweeter tooth than me, manages to drink it but complains about the chemically sugary aftertaste.
Excellent protein drink. I mainly use it to make my proats and add some red berries for extra flavour. It's great to have right before a workout if you can manage something too heavy. Definitely recommend to friends and fitness fanatics! Goes Well With:Porridge oats and red berries Protein ball recipe
Taken as a hot drink 30 to 40 minutes before bed brings on a warm calming feeling just right for a good night's sleep. It is fairly sweet and so I have just a level scoop. I heat the milk in a bowl and then whip in the chocolate powder. Saves it frothing in the microwave. Taste is as good as any packeted choc drinks I've tasted and smooth (providing you whip it). Only moan is the packing. When low its a real pain to fill the scoop and as its a finely milled powder, and so a light dust texture, its messy to decant into another container. Goes Well With:Sleep ....zzzzz
A good flavour and protein source but it takes longer to make than I expected (as you defo have to mix it in the shaker rather than stir it together) and separates surprisingly readily!
Really good hot chocolate - tip - mix with water/milk at around 70% rather than boiling as powders tend (even normal hot chocolate) to mix more easily at lower temperatures, then stick in the microwave for another 30-60 seconds to bring the heat up as required. Taste is great, no plastic(!?) Pea protein apparently according to the super taster in another review, except not, the ingredients specify each protein source is from milk, legal issues around accusing a company of miss-declaration of ingredients I wonder? Anyway, great stuff, great price, some people are just never happy, shame even in this day and age you can't cure stupid.Goes Well With:Milk rather than water, great pre-bed.
I am a hot chocolate addict, so I was delighted when I saw this protein hot chocolate. It tastes just like the low calorie substitutes (i.e. Options), not as sweet as your standard hot chocolate but definitely hits the spot!Goes Well With:Coconut milk
This protien hot chocolate smells and tastes like an actually Cadbury hot chocolate. Rich taste and flavour. And can be drank also as a think smoothy.Goes Well With:Milk or hot water.
Ideal for a tastey protein boost before bed, waking up a little less sore to be able to nail the next workout.
