What is L-Leucine?
L Leucine is an essential amino acid that is broken down in to fat structures. As an essential amino acid it cannot be made by the human body and, therefore, must be consumed through food such as nuts, brown rice and whole wheat bread products or dietary supplements.
Benefits of L-Leucine
In total, L Leucine is around eight percent of the total amino acid count in your body's protein structures. It is also the fourth most concentrated amino acid in your tissue.
Who is L-Leucine suitable for?
This is therefore sutiable for an individual wanting to increase their daily intake of L-Leucine and essential amino acids.
As a dietary supplement we recommend consuming 2 - 3g twice daily. For optimal results take 45 minutes before your workout and also post workout. One serving should be sufficient on non-training days.
Add 1 heaped MP small scoop (2g) to your preferred amount of water or fruit juice and consume immediately. Best consumed on an empty stomach.
1 x level MP Plastic Scoop (small) weighs 1.5g.
This product is 100% L Leucine with nothing added or taken away.
100% L Leucine
I love Leucine
- (14 / Apr / 2014)
First time I've used this amino acid and it is excellent. I have increased muscle mass and lost fat. The down side is the fine powder won't mix with anything so its a matter of a teaspoon full into the mouth and down it with lots of water. Worth the effort.Goes Well With:whey and high protein meals
- (10 / Apr / 2014)
The best product ever and very good price.
- (22 / Mar / 2014)
This stuff does not mix well with liquids so try it mixed with a spoon full of natural yogurt, mixes 100% but tastes awful ..mixing problem solved
Disgusting but worth it
- (05 / Mar / 2014)
Plain Leucine tastes disgusting but mixed with a flavoured BCAA product it tastes fine and enhances the Leucine to Isoleucine and Valine ratio. Have honestly noticed more muscle retention when dieting after adding in two servings on training days. If you can stand the taste, you could get away with Leucine on its own.Goes Well With:Flavoured BCAAs
- (07 / Jan / 2014)
I hink L LEUCINE helps me out after my work out or used between meals to keep muscle protein synthesis
- (31 / Dec / 2013)
As all the other reviews have said, alone this creates quite a chemically taste, so I always mix with a flavoured pre-workout or post workout flavoured protein.
Doesn't mix at all with a stirrer, mixes very well within a shaker!Goes Well With:Pre-workout or Protein
- (11 / Dec / 2013)
Fast delivered, and the help I needed was very effective by the product and the staff of myprotein.
Too soon to judge
- (09 / Dec / 2013)
I've only recently started using the product but so far I'm happy. It doesn't mix at all.. Sort of sits on top of whatever you put it in and it also has a taste that May give me a hernia... However it does seem to be effective...
Be warned though, it doesn't come with a scoop. I wasn't informed of this and don't want to just order one.Goes Well With:Something with a strong flavour
- (18 / Nov / 2013)
Been using it for a year, can't fault the product!
- (16 / Nov / 2013)
I take this with whey protein powder, L-Glutamine and Creatine. Seems to work. A tad hard to mix if you use only water and it has a bit of a chemical taste.Goes Well With:Whey protein.
- (05 / Nov / 2013)
Nice one! Good price and fast delivery!
- (27 / Oct / 2013)
Great product, doesn't taste bad at all even mixed with water.Goes Well With:Impact whey
- (07 / Oct / 2013)
I like this very much. I prefer it with juice of some kind. I find that I am feeling more toned, tighter body I definitely will be ordering more. Goes Well With:orange juice
- (30 / Sep / 2013)
I take this L Leucine either intraworkout with BCAA or in a pre-workout stack. I've found no problems mixing with water in a shaker with a hurricane ball - use flavoured BCAA and you wont taste it.
This is one of the most important supplements you can take, look it up, and get on it!Goes Well With:BCAA / Pre workout stack
- (06 / Sep / 2013)
This L Leucine is a great product! It helps me to stimulate muscle protein synthesis. I use it between meals to keep muscle protein synthesis at high level and I add it in my PWO shake and my intraworkout drink along with some BCAA. Taste is not so good but I don't care because it does its job the way it should and I'll continue to use this product.Goes Well With:bcaa, whey protein,
- (02 / Sep / 2013)
This L Leucine is an excellent product and I got a good delivery time from Myprotein.
Does not mix.. But decent stuff
- (19 / Aug / 2013)
Been using L Leucine for a few months now and it's such a shame this stuff doesn't mix at all! I've had to mix into protein which is inconvenient. It just froths up and sits on top of water so don't do that. Same with juice of any kind. Decent results and goes well to boost bcaa ratio. MP need to sort out the mix ability and it would be good stuff. Goes Well With:Protein and milk/water. Doesn't mix into anything else
- (06 / Aug / 2013)
The taste of L Leucine at first with water was a bit odd, but after a having it a few times and using juice instead of water, it isn't bad at all. As for what it does I'm still finding out.
- (11 / Jul / 2013)
Recently bought this L Leucine to increase my bcaa powder from a 2:1:1 ratio to the more effective 4:1:1 ratio. It works fine and I personally think it improves the taste of the unflavoured bcaa powder, but it still isn't the nicest taste in the world. Depsite that though, it's helped me to maintain my muscle mass whilst on a strict 2,000kcal cut down so I cant complain.Goes Well With:Bcaa and water
- (09 / Jul / 2013)
Good for preserving muscle gains when on either keto diet or low carb diet.Goes Well With:protein powder or scrambled eggs.
I have to say:
- (09 / Jul / 2013)
I'm a light heavyweight British champion, I've competed many times and I truly know how important supplements can be, so I'm happy to say that I'm honestly impressed with the Myprotein supplement range. It's great tasting and definitely a company you can rely on, brilliant.
- (02 / Jul / 2013)
It's going to give you a boost if you can handle the metallic taste.Goes Well With:Flavoured protein shakes
- (25 / Jun / 2013)
I've done fair bit reading up on this and I recommend this to any serious gym goer. It's best off mixed in to shakes as the taste aint the best! Goes Well With:mp impact whey isolate
- (30 / May / 2013)
Excellent product, I have been on a diet for seven weeks, during which time I have lost 10 kg. L-Leucine has been one of the most important products on the diet. I still continue using L-Leucine, during the bulk period. Excellent!
- (27 / May / 2013)
L Leucine is a great easy way to take this BCAA, mixes well and allows you to control serving size a lot easier than a capsule, the powder is very fine meaning when you open the bag you get a fine mist everywhere but it means it's very mixableGoes Well With:Whey Isolate/ Hydrolysed Whey Post WorkOut
- (07 / May / 2013)
Myprotein seem to have changed the recipe for L Leucine to make it more mixable. The old stuff sat on top of the water and just kind of froths up, but the newest bag I've ordered mixes a lot easier.
Bad but good.
- (07 / Mar / 2013)
L Leucine is a necessity for any serious builder. The only downside is the repellent taste. Be warned.Goes Well With:Has to be mixed with protein to actually dissolve in liquid.
- (14 / Aug / 2012)
"good price. But the ibcaa or bcaa should be at least a 4:1:1 ratio even a 6:1:1 to start with, so we wouldnt have to buy this on top. Shame really as all the evidence points towards 4:1:1 minimum. BUT would recommend this product to add to a 2:1:1 bcaa powder"

"Looks like synthetic talc weighs nothing and has the ability to float on water, tastes like plastic and is brilliant, I use it with L Glutamine and have had abreak for a week to check wether or not it's affective, and I can confirm it's good stuff, I choose to follow the spoon it in and quickly drink a fruity drink, namely a creatine pre work out drink that I use, but be warned it's so light, that if you take a breath or can't check point you swollow reflex, you will likely inhale the stuff, which is not a good idea. if not then mix it into a paste/shot of fruit drink/cordial. I also found it mix's with a shot of milk; likely due to the fat in milk. I get good focus and recovery in the gym and mixed with other amino's the general observation is that I see and feel an increase in my uptake of protien also."
- (15 / Mar / 2012)
"Good on price but no scoop and bad taste, Mix this in with a tasty drink and neck it down ya. This stuff is so important so add it in and suck it up. no pain no gain.."
- (17 / Nov / 2011)
"I use this product post-workout for recovery from intense full body workouts (Squats, deadlifts, kettlebells, NOT arms). Combined with 2 scoops of dextrose i use 4 small MP scoops imediatley after my workout then just another 2 scoops (no dextrose) 2 hours later. It has significantly shortened my recovery time. I do not use on non-training days as protein requirements arent as high."
- (08 / Oct / 2011)
"Be warned, this is unlike any other supplement I have tried before, first time I tried following the advice on the back of the bag, take with water.... ....its impossible to take with water, it floats on the top, and sticks to the side of the glass. Couple this with the fact it also catches at the back of your throat and makes you want to throw up from the taste... to put it lightly, it isnt for the faint hearted who struggle to swallow protein shakes. I'll follow the advice of putting it with a protein shake but I was hoping to be able to take it similar to the way I take another supplement by having it seperate from a shake. On the upside, there is a huge amount of evidence to support this supplement, especially if you are already increasing your protein intake. "
- (28 / Aug / 2010)
"Just add one heaped small scoop to any of your protein shakes, best after a workout, put I just bang it them all. Does not effect the taste of the protein shake all. Seems to help me get more protein down my neck in a day, which is nice."
- (07 / May / 2010)
"Mr Pollar, yes you can do it without any problem.\n\nGreat product MP, will buy again:)"
- (03 / May / 2010)
is it ok to mix l leucine with whey protein and milk if any1 knows? it would be helpfull thanks
- (25 / Apr / 2010)
"Really impressed with the results, only been using for a week and ooking alot fuller, I take mine in as shot glass with strait ribena, and goes down easy, also on whey protein and ceapure."
- (20 / Sep / 2009)
"Ive been on this for about a 10 days now, and I'm looking a lot fuller and solid. really happy. only slight neg is it doesnt seem to mix with my protein drinks, it sort of settles as a froth on the top, takes a lot of constant shaking to get it down n not leave half of it in the bottom of the shaker..."
- (23 / Jul / 2009)
"I take it post workout with whey and creatine, seems to mix ok..results has been really good..very happy with a product iv not tried before!"
pumped and hard
- (01 / May / 2009)
"i ve now took leucine, and methoxy bundle for 3 weeks. leucine at breakfast then some amino pre and leucine post work out. I am pumped and hard have gained an inch arms and chest and am solid all over!!!!!"
- (14 / Jan / 2009)
"Great stuff, Great gains as well as mucle preservation on a cut.\n\nTO Mr P Luffman: Looks like you just threw up a Christian Thibs post."
- (13 / Jan / 2009)
"Leucine is great for pwo, combined with eaa or bcaa in a 4:1 ratio is even better. Its also very good when on a keto diet , it will get you into ketosis quicker As a result, your blood sugar goes down and the body switches to a ketogenic state much faster. \n\n"
Not Bad Stuff!
- (20 / Jun / 2007)
"Ive been taking it for a couple of months now, pretty sure i can feel a difference as ive been doing more cardio too. Tastes vile and doesnt mix so i just spoon it into my mouth and use water to flush it down. But no pain no gain right?"
- (22 / Dec / 2006)
"Before adding your protein powder, add the leucine to water and give it a good stir, leave for about 20 minutes, give it a stir again and then add your protein powder. Mixes fine this way."
- (08 / Dec / 2006)
this stuff dizzolves totally in boiling water. not sure if the boiling water damages the powder tho. mixed it with aakg 3g of each pre workout (30min).
Mixes fine with shakes
- (02 / Nov / 2006)
I add it in with oats and whey and i can't really taste it. Add the water after and it mixes nicely.
Just use it
- (11 / Oct / 2006)
this stuff mixes fine and is tasteless when you take it with your protein powder. Give it a go!!
int leucine brilliant!
- (11 / Aug / 2006)
"What can i say about this lovely amino acid, well, it is the primary ingrediant of leukic. Leukic has had much achademic research into its function following exhaustive performance/training and from the peer reviewed material i have looked at the data is very convincing, stop reading, buy this nutrient, your body deserves it. \r\n\r\nI have recently combined it with gaaka, niacin, vanadyle sulphate and others, wow its cool. I would also say, use niacin (vit B3) pre training (100-500mg) and it alone will make you blow your mind!"
- (13 / Jul / 2006)
"great product, i find mixes well with my protein shake, postworkout its great to take with ur carbs n protein, and good value for money, mixes better than other whole bcaa powders ive tried, so five stars"
- (24 / Jun / 2006)
"Remember being told that medicine had to taste bad to be good for you? Well substitute tricky to take and thats Leucine. Silvery and light its like fairy dust. Put in a small shaker with a little liquid, shake like mad, and down it. Repeat with any sticking to the sides. It helps to have your regular shake waiting as a chaser!"
- (13 / Apr / 2006)
"I can not get this stuff to mix with any liquid in any quantity - it just floats on the surface and if your not careful when sliding it into your mouth comes back out as a a scattering of powder the next time you open again.\r\nThe taste is possibly the worst tasting supplement I have ever known and I can tolerate anything in a drink, I have to resort to taking this with mints in my mouth and 50ml of water, refill to catch all the powder thats stuck to the side of the glass when tilting to drink, and repeat this procedure 3-5x. \r\nIf I was'nt so tight that after buying something refusing not to use it then I would give up on it for the benefit of taking extra.\r\nIf you are going to buy this then buy a capping kit as it is the worst."
