What is Inulin?
Inulin is a starchy carbohydrate found in pulses, predominantly lentils and chickpeas. This amazing fibre has recently been featured on the BBC’s programme with Angela Rippon, ‘How To Stay Young’.
Benefits on Inulin
Inulin offers a range of health benefits. Considered a prebiotic, Inulin is a carbohydrate that good bacteria in your digestive system utilises to produce a number of nutrients which are beneficial towards human health.
How can Inulin be used?
Inulin is also used in baking to preserve the moisture in cakes and biscuits, but also as a binding agent. Inulin can also be used as syrup, by mixing it with water and heating. Finally, this versatile fibre can be used in smoothies to make them thicker and more satiating.

Arrived promptly and is exactly what I hoped. Goes Well With:Most things from drinks to pancakes
Great service guys. Very impressed with the delivery time, quality of packaging etc. Started using Inulin immediately - very easy to use - I just added it to my bowl of breakfast oats. In case you haven't seen the programme with Dr Chris van Tuleken and Angela Rippon (How to stay young), Inulin reportedly helps break down visceral fat if used consistently over a period of about six months. Well worth a try.Goes Well With:Basic porridge made with oats and milk.
The product is good and can be mixed with most things. I find that there are very few instruction either on or inside the pack. How many times a day is it supposed to be taken (once, twice or doesn't matter) this guidance is important to those who are using the product for the first time.
Last time i went on a calorie controlled diet/meal replacement diet i struggled with my bowel movement for days at a time. That was inclusive of having 28g of flaxseed a day. I have now introduced inulin into my diet and my bowel movements are somewhat regular without the constipated/painful feel. This product mixes very well even in water like others have said; i would definitely be buying this agian. thank you myprotein :)Goes Well With:anything liquid
This is very mixable, you don't need a lot of it, in fact even the small scoop suggested once a day can be a sudden change to the body, any rises in fibre can give gas until the body is used to it. Saying that it does actually work as it's meant to, so I would suggest it for anyone that eats a lot or finds it harder to break down protein and carbs, but maybe start with a tiny bit and work your way up.Goes Well With:protein, oats, glutamine, juice
I have been using it for about 3 weeks. It is tasteless, I have with porridge in the mornings. I can not say it is the reason I have lost some weight. I am taking it because of the program How To Stay Young.
I mix this with a little apple juice topped up with water and some green powder. It has no taste and seems to vanish once it has mixed in - just making the drink feel slightly smoother. I feel it has benefited my digestion and so far seems to help with low blood sugar slump. I have not rated its effectiveness as it is too early to say what the long term effects are.Goes Well With:Green powder, Udo's Choice wholesome fast food, Fruit juice and probably anything else you want to use it with.
I want inulin and this is the only source of bulk packets I've found yet in UK. It's a coarse powder (small granules), which dissolve in a glass of water fairly easily. It tastes a little bit sweet and I use it to disguise the rather unpleasant flavour of MSM. Stir the inulin in first for better dissolving. I've been taking it for a few months, to feed my gut bugs and I think it will take longer to assess the effectiveness. No change yet and I'm optimistic it will come.Goes Well With:Water and MSM
Inulin is very good to get enough fibres. I put it together (10 g) with with a pound of lowfat fromage blanc and a proteinshake. It tastes good, is good mixible and its the best overnight combi
This is a good product at a good price. Pleasant taste but tends to go lumpy if quickly mixed with water or liquid. So I mix it with my muesli.Goes Well With:Muesli
I have been adding 2 scoops of inulin to plain yoghurt each day. It has helped my "intestinal transit" as they say on tv. No side effects but I don't know whether there have been any major benefits - time will tell.
Hopefully it's reducing my visceral fat. I think it's helping to keep me regular as well.Goes Well With:meusli, porridge.
It's difficult to know whether this works as it reputedly reduces internal body fat. Personally speaking it gave me stomach pains and I had to stop using it. Having said that, there is good evidence for its effectiveness
Have only recently started taking it so its difficult to say how it is affecting me at the moment. I have put 4 stars for rating because I don't know whether it is excellent right now but its certainly not adversely affecting me. It doesn't taste of anything so, for me, that is great because it can go in anything. Goes a bit clumpy when mixing with hot stuff but a vigorous whisk sorts that out. Great price and great service from my protein Goes Well With:porridge
Product arrived very quickly and I have been using it each morning since. I bought the unflavoured and mix in with dry cereal first and then I add soya milk. I have only been using for a fortnight so not really able to evaluate if it is working. I am hoping to reduce my visceral fat so rather early in the process!Goes Well With:Linseeds, oats, granola!
Very early to tell how effective this product is. Bought in response tot he Angela Ripon programme on longevity. Inulin is supposed to help remove visceral fat in the body. No change in weight yet ....Goes Well With:Cereal
To early to tell if its having any effect on visceral fat, but it does loosen the bowels. Goes Well With:Anything
Have only just started to use the product. Seems to be ok. No taste, easy mix or better still added to food. We have experienced a bit of flatulence but assume that once we are used to it that will go. Time will tellGoes Well With:Squash, fruit juice or sprinked onto food
I saw a BBC programme about ageing and the effects on the body, a doctor suggested that exercise alone cannot rid the body of built up internal fat. But that a dietary supplement Inulin was active in that effect, also that inulin occurs naturally in bananas and onions, both of which I eat regularly but in quantities that cannot have a total internal fat reducing effect. I have taken inulin at a rate of just half a measure (the spoon included) with my breakfast, in cereals and porridge. All I can say is that I have moderately exercised and cut out more fat and sugar content items from my diet and I feel fitter and slimmer. I have tried the citing down and exercise before but not had the results as recently with Inulin. As with anything, I would not over consume any supplement so once I get to a satisfactory level of fitness I will reduce the intake of Inulin. For me this has been a great discovery. If you yourself read up on the product ad try it I am confident you will see a benefit.
I have been using this product for the last few weeks and my energy has improved tremendously. It is easy to use and mixes well . I usually spread it on my porage for breakfast.Goes Well With:Cereals or drinks
I heard about inulin on the recent TV programme "How To Stay Young" on the BBC. As I get a bit older I think it`s effectiveness as show in the programme will be helpful to me and my lifestyle. I really like the fact that you don`t need a large amount per day and it`s easy to mix in your daily smoothie or juice or glass of milk, or in fact soup or a stew.
Thought I would give this a try to help reduce fat levels. Only used it for two weeks, so not sure yet if it is working.Goes Well With:Porridge
Easy to use with no taste so can be mixed/added to virtually anything. 3 stars for effectiveness because effects on visceral fat cannot be seen.Goes Well With:Anything
so far so good only been on inulin 2 weeks i think its okayGoes Well With:nutribullet drinks, orange and spinach, all drinks really mixes well
Great product, easy to incorporate with everyday use
Have been taking Inulin for approx 3 to 4 weeks; pleasant texture and no taste. Generally sprinkle on to breakfast cereal and really can't notice it's there. Have lost some weight and don't appear to feel hungry as quickly, even though exercising more. Will definitely buy more when run out of current purchase.Goes Well With:Particularly cereal.
Saw this on a BBC program. Just started using it, fingers crossed that it is really doing me good. I take it in a drink and mix with fruit and soups. Does not alter the taste. Goes Well With:Water, Soup. Mixed fresh fruit. and porridge. Any liquid actually..
Should there have been a measuring scoop in the pack? For dosage it says 1 and a half little scoops, but nowhere does it say what size of scoop. And it doesn't say how often in a day.
Have mixes Inulin with my drinks and have not noticed any taste, my wife has added it to her breakfast and has not noticed any difference in taste either. Well worth a try. Goes Well With:Cool drinks and breakfast
Long term use expected so too early to know full effectiveness. Ask me again in a few months.Goes Well With:Anything
Arrived in good time and well wrapped. I'm now about two weeks into taking it on a daily basis. I found the powder to clog a little in water but with constant stirring it does dissolve completely and is easy to drink. No side effects to speak of so overal a pleasant easy to consume product. Goes Well With:No yet taken it other than dissolved in water but could easily add it to food without the worry of it tainting the taste.
Quick delivery. Great price. Mixes well and has not taste to taint food. Too soon to report on effectiveness.Goes Well With:My porridge
I saw this mentioned on the 'Staying Young' programme on the BBC and had to give it a try as I'm sure I have a lot of visceral fat as a result of a long period on high dose steroids after a brain tumour! I'm clearly not expecting a fast result but the product is easy to integrate into my diet as I mix it with my muesli. I will monitor my condition over the next 6 months.Goes Well With:Muesli.
This product seems to be a easy way of increasing the fibre in my diet. I sprinkle a teaspoonful on my breakfast muesli and hardly notice it's there. No problems at all so far.Goes Well With:Muesli
Following the BBC programme regarding the health benefits of Inulin, I decided to give it a long term trial. Although it is far too early to see the benefits, I have found the product very easy to use and usually mix it with yoghurt as I am following a low fat healthy eating programme. I will continue to use this product for the foreseeable future. Goes Well With:Cereal, fruit and yoghurt.
It's very early days to say how this is going to be but definitely so far so good! It's so easy to take, no horrible taste ... slightly sweet & very palatable, mixes well with most foods & drinks! I have suffered no side effects from taking it & will most certainly continue with it!!!
If this does what it says it does then it is the perfect product! Sounds double Dutch I know. It is tasteless and the powder is so fine it is very easily mixed in with whatever you are eating. I don't know what effect it is having because I cannot see inside my body. Hopefully it is giving me more fibre in my diet and helping the good bacteria in my gut. What I know it does is give me a great deal more wind towards the end of the day!!!
Really pleased with this product. It mixes very easily into my smoothie and adds no taste at all which is perfect. Using it as part of my new exercise regime involving a lot of dancing, some light weights and pilates. Never too old to exercise- we are in our fifties! Goes Well With:Smoothies
excellent product- Myprotein had the very best price.
I saw this on tv and what it could help with so I bought one pack to try and I am glad I did. One of the main reasons being I have digestive problems leading to constipation, inulin has definitely helped with this and I am very pleased with the results. It is tasteless and can be sprinkled on anything. Delivery was prompt. Will definitely order again.Goes Well With:Anything
Best value on the internet.Goes Well With:Cereal in the morning
Product seems to be of good quality and its difficult to determine its efficacy after only using it for a weekGoes Well With:Tried it with porridge which is fine
For years and years my husband has suffered from a painful, bloated stomach. We have tried changing his diet and all sorts of other remedies and at last we have found a product that works. Since taking Inulin all his issues appear to have stopped and that was in the first week only. So glad I found you.
I started to use inulin just this week. I am trying this in an attempt to help my T2 diabetes. Despite a good diet, I struggle with blood sugar levels and have read that inulin might be able to help me. The product is in powder form with no taste. It is very easy to mix, and I have also sprinkled directly onto shredded wheat. I have not been using long enough to see any results yet, so will update in a few weeks. I am a little disappointed in the number of e-mails and contact from my protein, which I feel is personally too frequent for me, and the mails do not target in any way my demographic or reason for using the product I bought. Shame that...
This is a convenient product as you get a concentrated dose of Inulin in a little scoop! It's flavourless so mixed with pretty much anything (not carbonated drinks), making it easy to consume. Comes with a little scooper to measure the powder out simply Goes Well With:Juice
Good size bag for price. Includes measure. Good mixable product. Goes Well With:Yogurt or smoothies
As recommended by Angela Rippon and health experts on her recent TV programme on how to stay fit in older age. Good value for money. Arrived promptly. Soaks up the fat which accumulates around the heart and liver in older age. Only just started taking it, so don't know whether it is working or not - here's hoping! Goes Well With:Hot drinks - does not dissolve in cold drinks. Can be sprinkled on food too.
After seeing information on inulin on TV I decided to give it a try, not for the fibre content but to influence fat absorption. And it is already showing dividends as I can see a difference in my tummy fat melting away. The tape measure confirms it ! So I will continue as the benefits are internal as well as external.
HAVE NOT USED IT LONG ENOUGH YET TO BE SURE IT IS DOING WHAT I HOPE BUT NOT EXPECTING OVERNIGHT RESULTS
Having watched Angela Rippon on the BBC programme, How to Stay Young, I decided to try inulin because although I am fit for my age and not overweight, I suspect that I am carrying too much visceral fat. It was discovered on the programme that this was Angela's problem, picked up on a MRI scan. I do not propose to go to the expense of an MRI scan, so I can only suppose that the inulin is doing me some good! It is tasteless and mixes well in a morning glass of water. A small scoop was provided and I have one scoop per day, so the 500 gram bag should last quite a long time. No side effects - maybe slightly windy for a couple of days.
