This powder clearly doesn't mix as well as others, but there is really no issue so long as you follow the instructions of one of the other reviewers. Start with 200ml water, put a scoop in, shake for a minute, add in milk (if using), shake some more and there's no lumps. The banana flavour is absolutely fantastic - exactly like Nesquik Banana - and I will probably order the exact same next time!
For a smooth, tasty and perfectly mixed shake follow these instructions to the letter! 1. 200ml water in the MP shaker (make sure the metal ball is inside) 2. 1 scoop of Carnipro 3. Shake the hell out of it until the powder is completely dissolved. 4. For those who want milk in the shake, add 100ml or more milk at this stage. For those who want water only, add 100ml or more of water at this stage. 5. Gently roll the shaker on it's side to mix the added liquid with the froth from before. 6. Let the shaker stand for 30 minutes. 7. Gently roll the shaker on it's side again. 8. Within a few more minutes the shake is ready to be consumed. 9. Thank me!
Very nice protein!!! Always my first choice from now on. For me better then the whey protein ;D
Due to my paleo lifestyle I am unable to use whey protein (and the fact my body hates dairy). I have used hemp and although enjoy the nutty taste it can be overpowering with reasonable but not large amount of protein content. I decided to give this new product a try (unflavoured) as it only contains the hydrolysed beef protein and xanthum gum - no sucralose sweeteners like the flavoured ones. I am very impressed. I added it to my morning chocolate smoothie (300ml almond milk, 1/2 avocado, 1 small banana, 1 tbsp linseed, 1 tbsp cashew nut butter, 2 tbsp cocoa powder). It did not change the taste at all, however bumped up the protein content 22g!
Whey protein makes me sick, this doesn't. It tastes decent however does not receive 5 stars only because it is not completely soluble in water. Effective however & does the job a winner in my eyes.
The unflavoured one doesn't taste very good, but it is unflavoured, so no right to complain ;-) However, the mixability of the product is awful, even when you mix it for 10 minutes there is still lumps and foam. I tried to bake it as well, it was a really bad idea. Indeed, my cookies stick to the baking sheet. But still it is a good product, because completely suitable for paleo diet and sugar free addict and very high in protein.Goes Well With:blended with fruits in a smoothie
Yes mix ability in the standard shaker is a problem, however a good blender with water and a few ice cubes sorts that issue out... Taste is delicious, can't fault the chocolate flavour. Definitely prefer this type of protein compared to whey and whey isolate, easier on my digestive system. Will keep on buying from now on.Goes Well With:A blender and Ice
I have to admit that I read the other reviews of this product thoroughly before trying, and although there were a number of comments about poor mixability and one about taste I decided to give it a go. In 2.5 years of training & using protein products this is the first time I've had what I consider to be a failure. I just can't get on with the product for two main reasons. Sure I feel better great after I've managed to down it & I do believe that the protein is absorbed more efficiently, but for me it's just a no-go product. So what about it is so bad? Let's start with the flavour. I bought the chocolate flavour, as this has always worked well for me in the past no matter what type of protein I've had. In this instance it was probably the worst flavour I could've chosen. The shake doesn't taste very chocolatey at all, in fact there is a definite meaty taste to it - not to mention the after taste. The best mix I've managed has been using the remains of my orange & cinnamon workout drink as that just about masks the flavour while I'm drinking. But nothing can take away the after taste. I can only manage a portion of this if I have a flapjack, seed bar or something like a Nakd bar to quickly eat after it as that does mask the aftertaste to a manageable degree. The next problem is mixability. I have an MP shaker with the mixer ball which has worked with every protein powder I've used in the past, but is a complete failure with this particular protein. No matter what I try (adding a little water first to swell the protein, making it really watery, trying to make it thick) I just can't get it to mix. It foams up ridiculously & the foam seems to lock in the protein - so I end up with watery chocolate drink & over half a shaker of foamy protein - which just tastes rank! Sadly I bought a 2.5kg pouch of this, although it was on offer at the time, so I have rather a lot of it to get through. Within 3 days I had ordered a 2.5kg pouch of Whey because I just can't handle this on a daily basis, let alone twice a day. I'm sticking with using it after my 2 hour sessions (Bootcamp, Spin & Body Pump) on a Saturday as it does help with recovery from such hard work, but I feel that's the only time I workout hard enough to be able to justify following up with a flapjack as I have to be very careful with my carb count. So in summary, it's a high quality protein which seems to help with muscular recovery (hence the 3 star overall rating), but it's a impossible to mix without making a really foamy drink & tastes awful. It's like drinking a sirloin steak mixed with a thin chocolate shake.Goes Well With:Nothing!
After ordering Carnipro and then reading some of the reviews, I got a bit worried that I'd made a mistake. I needn't have worried as although yes it is harder to mix than the whey equivalent, if you persist with the shaking it does eventually mix well. Maybe some people can't be bothered trying or something. I did find that it mixes better in a mesh bottle rather than one with a whisk ball. I have the banana and although it wont win any awards, it certainly tastes like banana. I find that I have less stomach problems while taking this as opposed to whey that makes me feel nauseous and bloated. I will definitely buy this again.
The taste of the shake is good e.g vanilla was plain and tasty as expected. The Mixture is very sticky when mixed with liquids so try not to spill. However, very poor mixability as i used both a filter and mixer in my shaker but gives me a very lumpy shake after a good 2-3 minutes of shaking. The actual content of the Carnipro is of high quality but its not worth the effort if using a regular shaker as it produces a lumpy outcome. I recommend buying a shaker with a blender in it if you continue to use Carnipro. Positives are that it can be used if suffering with mild-moderate acne or spots as it doesnt flair up at all, as it is dairy free unlike whey which can cause spots to form.
This product is full or protein and has other great attributes. I'm sure the gains will be good too. But it really doesn't mix well, I've used many wheys and in comparison just doesn't barely mix at al, it clogs my shakers, and leaves a powdery clumpy mess in everything else. but if your persistent you can get it mainly mixed and then just get it down. I drink this for nutrition not delightful mix ability. nobody ever took a vitamin tablet and then gave a culinary review, jesus! The taste of the strawberry is fine, just if I use less water it is hard to mix, but with more it becomes quickly very watery tasting. Anyway as I said, manageable, and definitely worth the problems.
I don't know what all the fuss is about. One scoop mixed fine for me in a shaker just add a bit more water. Slightly sticky and with a few lumps you can easily swallow, not a big deal. Taste is great, very banana like, didn't give me bad breath either. I will continue to use this as whey makes me acne go crazy.
Just recived this product. Opened the package and the smell was amazing, like whey protein (chocolate) - that was the good part. Then i mixed it in water, like they recommend - HORRIBLE! Milk/juice - same bad taste. Another bad thing is that it doesn't shake well, like really badly! Then the consistency, it's like a really thick gravy! Would rather crash on my bike, than recommend this product!
Simply put, the single worst mixing MP product on the market. Nearly insoluble in water or milk. Ends up like a mix of water and suet. Probably good quality protein, but i'll never find out, as i have a need for permanently blocking a culvert on a local farm. Carnipro to the rescue !
Ok so I purchased this product after trying a few other blends from myprotein. With the previous blends being pretty good. Ie mixing, texture, consistency etc Unfortunately this one doesn't blend well unless you use a blender. Also I brought the unflavoured blend which even with the addition of milk tastes terrible. I now have a 1kg tub that I'm probably not going to use. So I won't be buying this one again.
This product will not blend. I have used it in my shaker with the shaker ball in and it stays lumpy even after ~5 minutes of constant shaking. Lumpy shakes are really not a big deal though. Biggest complaint is the texture. It tastes like drinking gelatin mix. The Banana flavour tastes good, a lot like banana medicine as a kid, but the texture just ruins it for me.
I was a bit worried reading previous reviews, about the taste and smell of this product. Anyway, I ordered the banana flavour and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it tastes. I much prefer this over the Soy protein, for taste and mixability.
Being Gluten sensitive I have found the Carnipro Chocolate very tasty my only irritant is this does not blend well with water so am left with a very lumpy shake no matter how long I shake or blend it. Overall happy with the product.
The banana flavour is excellent!! Found it very hard to mix it (almost impossibble in a shaker, good that I have a blender) and also hard to wash the shaker after it. But makes you full for a good couple of hours, and I'm absolutely happy that it comes without dairy or soya. Definitely worth its price.
As a person allergic to dairy i've been through most of the alternative proteins and when this appeared thought i'd give it a shot. The taste initially takes a bit of getting used to , but it seems to mix quite well with chocolate. I use nesquik hot chocolate or chocolate almond milk and both mask the taste nicely. I tend to mix in a Myprotein shaker and this stuff takes quite a bit of effort and easily goes quite lumpy. Mix it with a little water first before adding the milk and the choc definitely helps and if you try mixing it with milk from scratch i find it foams up. Not sure how effective it is yet as i'm only halfway through, but its digestible and doesnt sit in your stomach like some proteins. I'll definitely give it a second shot. Hemp is still my #1 favourite though as its quite enjoyable to drink.
I have tryed alot of protein and decided to try out some Carnipro to see what it was like and to mix things up,(Taken whey for about three years almost and tryed alot of brands). Comparing this product to the MP whey protein well the Whey wins on mixing in a shaker/blender For taste they are both even both taste nice and smooth Cost is around the same I would recommend this if you could not have dairy however make sure you have a blender as unlike with whey it doesnt mix with 15 shakes it will take longer than that but dont be put off by how well it mixes.
I rate this very highly, so far i have only tried Banana which tastes fine. There are lots of reviews saying it does not mix well however it is my experience that anything with a low sugar content needs mixing in a blender, the only use i see for shakers is to carry a pre-mixed drink (say to work for later) and shake to re-mix after settling. I intend to try the unflavoured next as i have a cupboard full of Flavdrops. No bloating which when you are over 290 pounds is a good thing-i`m looking to go 300+ for new year.
Good product for this price :D Only mixability its not very well
Too early for a full review but so far positives are no bloating and absorbed quickly with it being hydrolysed negatives doesn't mix well taste is not for the faint hearted.Goes Well With:Blender
I was looking for non-dairy alternatives, because the Soya Isolate has varied mixability issues. So i tried this one, apart from a bit of stink -- it does not affect the taste at all. The unflavored mixes well with any flavoring; I use Cocoa. Excellent for the lactose intolerant, I had my gains when I shifted out of whey.
Probably the best quality-price ratio in the market. I always mix it with water and it tastes good but it is similar to a smoothie in terms of liquidity so I personally find it a bit difficult to drink.
The chocolate flavour is very tasty, and I know some people have complained about the mixability, but I didn't have that problem at all. I bought one of the My Protein shakers with the powder as I didn't have one before, and it works a treat. It ends up a little frothy but not enough for it to be a problem. I'm new to protein shakes and was worried about finding a nice one that was lactose free (I'm intolerant) and this has made life very easy!
As a beef protein, choc flavour is awesome Reccomend it over whey Quick muscle recovery
I've developed lactose intolerance into my 20's so I've had to replace my entire fridge and workout supplements; as whey-based protein powders have begun to leave me horrifically bloated and feeling rather nauseous. After much debate between the vegan/pea/brown rice blends, I decided to go with the manly option - CarniPro. I was pleasantly surprised with the banana flavour, which tastes pretty much like Nesquick! It might even be the best tasting shake I've ever had (next to the jam roly poly flavour of course). The only negative to this product is that it doesn't mix particularly well. I first tried it with lacto-free milk, to try and get an authentic milkshake style shake, and it turned into a gelatinous mess. It also takes a strong shaking arm to get a lump-free shake with water, but even with lumps it isn't actually too bad as the taste is so nice and sweet. I would recommend this product if you're after a dairy-free powder, especially the flavoured stuff. Goes Well With:Milk (blended), water, fruit.
I am lactose intolerant so I chose to buy either soy protein or this new Carni-pro recently. For the last couple of years I was using only dairy-based protein but wasn't really getting gains until I switched to Soy Protein and CarniPro. Since I am not a fan of extra sweeteners, I chose the unflavored version. Although there is a stink that's expected with meat-based protein (which I saw in most reviews of this product), I planned to mask it with pure cocoa --- so I get an extra theobromine and good fats there. I use a bullet-blender to mix my shakes, and I find it quite the same mixability as the Impact Whey (and so much better than the Soy Isolate). I haven't dared try it on its own, because of the meat-stink - but with pure cocoa in it, I know I can't go wrong. Tastes sinfully dark and good. My mixture is avocado + desiccated coconut + carniPro + creatine+ water. Goes Well With:avocado + desiccated coconut + creatine+ water
Ordered vanilla after using the same flavour of whey protein which was ok taste wise, what I found is that it smells horrible and tastes even worse. You try and mix it and to get rid of the lumps you need to shake it so much it turns into froth. Very poor and not something I will buy again.
The best protein that may be. I feel very well after it. What to miscibility, the worst I've ever seen.
I've tried every protein on this site, and by far the best quality protein is carnipro! It's not a protein that is meant to mix well in a shaker, it must be blended with ice , water or almond/soya milk. Add some flaxseed meal to it maybe some cashew nuts or a favourite fruit depending on your goals! GREAT STUFF!!!! GREAT PRICE!!!
This is a great product. I have been using whey for about 4 years. Started using Carnipro 3 months ago and have noticed it is far more effective than whey and it tastes great, but doesn't mix well. I won't be going back to whey. And the price is great too.
Great protein powder which tastes great and has low carb and fat whilst having 22g of protein per scoop. Great for using as is, or a base if you want to up the carbs or fat by adding ingredients. There's been a few people on here saying the mixability isn't great for this stuff. If you've only got a shaker then it won't mix very well; however; if you've got a hand blender available it mixes perfectly and makes a nice thick smooth shake which tastes amazing (Chocolate - I haven't tried the rest, yet)Goes Well With:Water, Almond Milk, Rice milk.
This is a correct product. Mixabilitiy is not as well as impact whey protein, but it worst its price.
The taste and mix of the protein are pretty terrible. For the price i paid for it though im not going to complain! Only way to get a smooth mix without lumps is to use a proper blender, mixes will into porridge fine though.
This stuff tastes amazing, the best tasting protein I've had! if it wasn't for the the bad mixing I'd give it 5 stars! So far I've had the most success with using a blender, but ends up very frothy. I have managed to get it mix in a whisk ball shaker, but took ages to get rid of nearly all the lumps! Although saying that, the lumps of this stuff taste great too, and give a bit of chew to it, which I don't actually mind. One last note; the taste of the vanilla flavour reminds me of marshmallows.
The best protein in the business. High protein value per serving, delicious flavours and beef is far better on the body than whey, for me. Add one scoop to 250ml almond milk and 75ml water - mixes in 2 minutes and no froth to speak of.
I have got a problem with CarniPro..It mix not very well.Taste is good but not a "tasteorgy" ;-) Altogether this product is good stars4 :-)
I bought the unflavoured one first as I wanted to avoid any added sugars and preservatives and was really unhappy with my purchase. The mixability was terrible so i had lumps in the shake and the taste of it was awful. I still have a bag of the unflavoured protein at the back of my cupboard... I decided to have another go though and ordered the chocolate one, when it turned up i mixed it using a shaker and this time there weren't as many lumps and the flavour was actually surprisingly good! Im going to try to mix it in a blender with some fruit later and see how that goes but I am very hopeful :) My advice would be - go for the flavoured one unless you're planning on mixing the unflavoured one with chocolate milk or something like that, in a blender preferably. Other than that I am very happy with the chocolate flavour and will definitely buy it again! :) Goes Well With:Fruit juice or flavoured milk / almond milk
Tastes great, exactly like chocolate milk, very sweet. I've been using it for a few weeks and I'm definitely noticing the effects. The mixability's not great, it helps if you add a little bit of water first (about the same volume as powder) and shake into a paste, then top up and mix it together. Otherwise it'll be fairly lumpy.
Saw this with no reviews so thought i'd give it a try. Unfortunately, i have to say that the mixing is terrible, as it is convenient for me i often mix shakes with water... I bought Banana flavour and it did not mix with water well at all, the taste was quite frankly disgusting and like i said, did not mix well even after i shook it for about double the usual time necessary, however, mixed with milk i found the flavour to be rather enjoyable, and the mixability was slightly better but still disappointing. I would perhaps recommend trying an alternate flavour.Goes Well With:Milk
First off, the taste of this protein, is great! The best I've tasted in a long while. I'm lactose intolerant so only mix with water, but the banana flavor is still strong and the texture is nice. I do tend to add an extra 100ml of water or so. The recommended amount is far too little! As with the other reviews, mix-ability is a real issue with this product. I tried mixing it with a shaker...once. It was clumpy and no matter how much i shook it, I couldn't loose the lumps. I now use an electric hand held blender to mix it and it's now perfect. If you need a protein you can mix with a shaker, I honestly wouldn't bother with CarniPro. You won't be happy. If you're using a blender, then I can't recommend it enough!Goes Well With:Water
Normally I get quite annoyed when people review a product and score that product on mixability and taste but forget about the main point - effectiveness. However, this product simply just does not mix well AT ALL. To the point where you miss out on 2/10 of the protein content because it is stuck to the bottom of the shaker. Having said that, this is protein is clearly the best I've taken for lean gains in the 9 years that I've been training for. It's a real shame but I've had to score this 3* because it takes me 20 minutes to get through 8/10 of the shake. Goes Well With:egg white powder
Very good taste and does not give me the bloat that I used to suffer with the whey based products. Mix ability is not that good, so I use a hand blender which works wellGoes Well With:Water
Hard to mix in a shaker bottle, flavour ok. I can't say it's not effective, it probably is, but if you can tolerate whey, go for it instead.Goes Well With:Water
I love the taste of the New CarniPro, but mixing it is a real nightmare!!! The fist time, I mixed it in your free shaker and ended up with a ball of what seemed like animal glue around the blender coil - what a mess!! It is much more difficult to mix than Carnivor I have found better results if I mix it dry with your Whey Isolate, flax seed and coconut floor roughly 25/ 25/ 25/ 25. I will continue to use it because I love the taste so much :) Also, I would have liked it without any artificial sweeteners - I mostly buy Reflex Vegan powders as they are sweetened with Stevia. Another also - whatever you do - do not put it in porridge and then cook the porridge - it boils over at the slightest provocation!!!!Goes Well With:Whey Isolate Flaxseed Coconut flour
it has great taste but mixability is so bad
as carnipro was on special offer i decided to give it a go and picked the unflavoured version. am used to the hardgainer unflavoured mixes and to adding just a little cocoa powder, this way i avoid the ever present sucralose that comes with flavoured powders. first the taste: it's vaguely salty? i mix it with almond milk, a spoon of green and blacks cocoa powder, creatine and i tried to add instant oats as well for a high calories solution. the powder itself has got a dreadful smell to it, like... something died? but luckily it doesn't carry to its taste. but it made me hesitate when i had my first shake!!!! carnipro sits like a lump on my stomach after i injest it and keeps me full for hours. not the most pleasant feeling but i remember i was the same when i first started with the hard gainer mixes too. so perhaps it's a case of getting used to it. second, mixability: i hate to echo what everyone else said, but it's impossible to mix this powder adequately. you need a blender basically. and even then, if you mix it with instant oat powder like i did, you need to add a lot of almond milk (or other liquid) to make it drinkable, otherwise you're looking at concrete mix with added lumps! so you end up with about 1L of a shake, with a lot left at the bottom of the blender as it sticks like mad. third effectiveness: it's still early days so i don't know yet how this will compare to hard gainer. since it makes me feel bloated and full though, i cannot eat quick enough after and probably lose out on calories intake! but perhaps my stomach will get used to that. we need more ppl trying this powder out and for longer to be able to talk about its effectiveness and its effect on our digestive system. i wanted to try an alternative to dairy and whey, but i think until this product is made more shaker friendly i will stick to mixable dairy alternatives personally. would be good perhaps if myprotein could start adding this type of protein to new mixes like "carnipro hard gainer" for example to maybe improve mixability? Goes Well With:green and blacks cocoa powder + creatine
