If you're after non a non dairy protein source then this is it, mixes well and with around 24g protein with each 30g scoop you can't go to wrong. The taste however is something else, some people comparing it to cardboard are not far off, but it has to be one of the most disgusting tastes ever. It's taste is so over powering, I've tried to make protein pancakes, protein flapjacks etc. using this protein as opposed to whey but you can't escape the gritty nature and vile taste. When it comes to shakes I've tried to mix it with cinnamon, cocoa powder, honey, chia seeds and a range of others just to try and partly remove the taste but I simply cannot. I've literally just purchased a smoothie maker, so will try and mix fruits etc. with the protein to see if I can get away from the horrible taste. I'm not actually lactose intolerant like some people are, I choose not to take whey protein as I'm a sufferer of acne, and if any of you do any research with regards to whey protein and acne, then you will understand the situation I'm in. I stopped taking whey about 2/3 months back, but it's so hard to get the right amount of proteins in my diet to hit my macros without the odd shake or two during the day, hence why I searched for non-dairy protein shake source. If anyone is looking to take this as a whey alternative due to acne like myself, so far I can tell you I've had no adverse effects so far, just the taste makes it so hard to bare. All I can say is grit your teeth and drink this as fast as you can, have water next to use each time as after every mouthful your mouth becomes dry as if you've just swallowed some chalk. I've given this 4 stars purely based on the reason why we take this - to add protein to our diets to compliment our training and it does that. My nutricianist recommended this for me, as I couldn't tolerate whey protein and he said that this is just what I need at the moment. It tastes fine and does what it's supposed to...fills me up and strengthens me. Also, for those of you who do weights, exercise etc and need extra protein, this is one of the few that doesn't contain all the nasty chemicals and sugar. What's the point of exercise if you don't watch what you're putting into your body?? It's a little grainy but how long does it take to knock back a drink? If you want what's best for you, try it. After reading the reviews I was a bit confused but decided to give it a go as I was annoyed how whey protein made me feel. Being bloated is not fun and looking 4 months pregnant is not so enjoyable either. All the negativity was directed mostly towards the taste. Not exactly sure how brown rice protein tastes on it's own because I took advice from a friend and I mixed the brown rice protein with pea protein and mix it just with water without adding flavourings and I must be weird because I totally don't mind the taste. You definitely wont go "mmm that's soo good" but it's not the worst tasting thing that I've drank or eaten for sure. For those really fussy ones if you mix it with juice you wont be able to taste it (tried that with first shake to be on the safe side) I cannot really comment on effectiveness just yet but I can say that it doesn't make me bloated and uncomfortably full after drinking it so therefore I love it.Goes Well With:Tropicana mango and orange juice but I just mix it with water (and with pea protein)

Try this: 4 tablespoons of greek / plain yoghurt 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder 1 scoop of rice protein 1 banana Stick this in a blender and add honey or syrup if you have a sweet tooth. Delicious.
I use Brown Rice Protein as a filler in homemade low carb bread, it's easy to mix with other dry materials.
My nutricianist first recommended this for me (please see my review from January 2015). I've been using it for just over 3 months and can report that I now actually enjoy taking it. What works for me is about 250ml of water, 30g scoop of rice protein, a liberal shake of cinnamon and some flax seeds (linseed). I don't have a shaker, so just weigh the dry ingredients into a plastic beaker, add water, and mix with a small metal whisk. Then I add 1 tablespoon of milled flax seeds and whisk them in. The seeds make it a better consistency to drink, as it's thicker, and also gives it a slightly nutty flavour. Result: I can now drink this straight down without stopping and without the back of my throat getting dry. The other benefits are as stated: I'm stronger and feel fitter, there's no lactose and no other nasties or sugars. For a good source of protein without unnecessary additives, I can only recommend that you try this, as it certainly works well for me.Goes Well With:Cinnamon and milled flax seeds (linseed).
This is the best alternative to whey from what I've read, although it's been a bit of a shock to the taste buds. I recommend it purely for its benefits, and reasonably high protein content, but if you struggle drinking vile tastes this isn't for you. I've tried mixing with banana, yoghurt, honey, almond milk and berries in a smoothie, but all I've ended up with is a disgusting grey/green gloop. You can try mixing with more honey, sugar, ice cream, chocolate powder or whatever, it might then be drinkable, but that would defeat the object of being healthy, which is why I got this protein in the first place. If MyProtein could create a drinkable, tasty rice protein I would definitely buy again, but at this stage I can't see myself doing so.Goes Well With:A hardy set of taste buds, and a manly attitude.
I take this along with Pea Protein Isolate. I mix it with Alpro Almond Milk unsweetened, and Organic Rice Dream vanilla flavour and a teaspoon of honey, I shake it and drink. I teach 8-10 RPM classes a week, so have it after every class, it really helps me recover quickly, and I feel much better taking it. Goes Well With:Pea Protein Isolate

Wanted to try different non-dairy, non-soy protein powders, and apart from pea protein powder this is the best alternative. May not taste that great when used on its own, but when mixed with porridge, soup, or just generally put into any food you make, the taste isn't that noticable. As a pre/post workout shake it's best mixed with other protein powders, because on its own it is rather gritty and doesn't mix that well. Goes Well With:porridge soup other protein powders
Great for mixing with a fruit juice of yoir choice. I havent seen any bug difference yet but i do have a fast motabilism. Hopefully when i add more meals to my day and keep working out an hour a day i should start adding some pounds. I have out on abiut half a stone but sometimes i cant make up my mind if that just the weight of all the water. Still its protien i can use without being ill and its not that expensive either so 4 star 5 when i actually get some muscle tho ;)
I started taking brown rice protein (with pea protein for better amino acid profile) - and have noticed huge improvement from the start. This might be a great protein for vegan but on its own it has a very strong and bitter taste (in a bad way), tried mixing it with rice, tired making smoothies and shakes. Its just hard to deal with. Works better when you mix it with other plant proteins. I think its a good product if you can handel it but I wont be purashing again, Pea Protein is less harsh..Goes Well With:Not alot.... The taste and textureof this drink took some getting used to. I tried mixing it in smoothies and everything and still found it a little chalky and grim. However keep a glass of water to hand and you will get used to it quite quickly, and its not that bad after that. It has however produced some good results in terms of building muscle and definition, I'm not using this to bulk up, Im more interested in dropping fat and toning up. On that front this has worked well and i feel energetic and good in general whilst using it. It hasn't supressed my hunger as much as the Whey Isolate did in the past though, but that is no big thingGoes Well With:Nothing I have tried, you just have to suck it up!
I have tired a few proteins now. This I would rank second. Whey isolate being better than egg white power being worse to mix and taste Brown rice protein is filling and mixes well with water. I'm not sure I would use this as my only source of protein. I use it as a cheaper alternative to whey isolate and use whey isolate after training. I might try replacing brown rice protein with Calcium caseinate. Goes Well With:creatine, dextrose, instant oats.
Been using the pea protein for a while with good results, so decided to try the brown rice protein as it's amino acid profile complements the profile of pea protein. I've been using half a scoop of each powder and whacked it down in a shaker with a good amount of water...the less water in the shaker the harder it is to mix I found. Taste wise it's a bit weird, not particularly nice but mixed with the pea protein it's a lot better. I can definitely identify with the gritty texture it leaves on your teeth afterwards which isn't pleasant, but it's good protein when all said and done and it definitely helps feed my muscles with good stuff to help repair and recover. My advice is man up, and get it down, for a non dairy protein coupled with pea protein you can't go far wrong with this product.Goes Well With:Pea protein isolate and water and the ability to ignore your taste buds!
The taste is worse than I had expected, but I am willing to bear with it when mixed with something else, as it does do the job. My muscles dont hurt after excersise and its a quick way to get that needed protein in after a workout without having a snotty reaction like the lactose alternatives.Goes Well With:hot chocolate powder and bananas.
This is a great way to have a more diverse protein intake. Usualy i have 2 or 3 types and brands of proteín shakes as i believe in food diversity. Although this one is a little raw to be taken simple, it goes and blends great with other shakes. This protein powder has helped transformed my life. I suffer from IBS, so cannot take dairy protein powders. This digests very well and has helped me put on 45 pounds over the past year. I have been having bloating probs with whey protein so just got some of this brown rice protein was its not that bad to drink atall just havea glass of plain water to hand to wash your mouth out after its well worth it. It saves you getting bloated and gassey off whey

When I made my very first shake with this Brown Rice Protein, I had one sip and couldn't even manage to swallow it. It tasted that bad. It tasted so bitter, and it was such a strong taste. I threw the entire bag in the bin as it would have been impossible to finish.

Brown Rice Protein is very good, I am enjoying it.
This type of protein powder can be tasty if and only if you are adding an acidic juice to it. The best I have found to break up that chalkiness of the taste is cranberry juice and/or pomegranate juice. I have not tried orange juice but that is because orange juice makes me nauseous. Anyway, the first time I ever tried Brown Rice Protein was in a mix with Pea Protein and that did not taste well with anything unless it was baked into some muffins or something. I can't consume whey and there is controversial studies about soy, so rice seems to be the safest alternative to everything. The only drawback is that the juices have 28g of sugar. I buy unsweetened cranberry juice by ocean spray and blend it with the protein mix. Then after it is blended I drop a few ice cubes in the drink. The texture is still too thick if I blend the ice with the ice and protein powder. It's as if the water has diluted the acidity of the cranberry juice and it prevents the cranberry juice from breaking up the rice protein bonds that is probably making it taste so gritty. I only ever made it through organic chemistry so maybe a biochemist could explain this better. For whatever reason, it just tastes better to me if I don't include the ice in the blender. Since it does have so much sugar, even in the unsweetened juice, I pretend it's a milkshake because it tastes just as sweet as one. I want to try to find a cranberry juice that does not have aspartame in it or 28g of sugar but I have yet to find one. I hope this helps all of you beginner rice protein drinkers, I am trying to spread the word as it can be good if you know how to make it. I always feel great for the rest of the day after I drink this. It's sort of tough to handle the taste but after the fourth day it's almost like you crave it. It becomes addictive - I never thought I'd say that.

While the taste of Brown Rice Protein is very difficult to stomach with water or milk, I have noticed considerable gains using this product without bloating or flatulence. I put it in a smoothie of frozen berries, a banana, greek yoghurt, maple syrup and milk as my post workout shake. This hides the taste well. It has worked great so far and I will be mixing it 50/50 with pea protein in future.
I purchased this Brown Rice Protein powder a couple of weeks ago on the recommendation of a friend who, like myself, cannot stand the taste of the run of the mill protein powders with added everything. Artificial fruit flavours, honestly make me gag, and I would rather have a square of dark chocolate to satisfy my (rare) chocolate craving than fake plastic chocolate flavour in a shake. This is the perfect alternative, with no fat or sugar, or indeed carbs worth noting, the taste is a little like drinking sand but mixed with unsweetened almond milk rather than water it just tastes like a thicker almond milk drink. You do have to re-shake every couple of mouthfuls as it settles quite quickly but it's no big deal to be honest - it gives me a nice full feeling without feeling bloated like whey or caseine does and it doesn't have anything that clashes with my supplement stack or have any added caffeine or taurine, so I can take it later in the day if I want to. I haven't tried mixing it with anything yet, but I can imagine it would go well with oats or banana to give it a kick, or to healthily improve your shake with some blended spinach.
This is my first review, so I'll keep it quick and to the point. I don't get on with milk so I bought this with the intention of mixing it with water. Normally the taste doesn't bother me, but I simply couldn't drink this without wanting to gag. However - I've managed to get around this by adding a decent amount to some oats and soya milk. The Brown Rice Protein is the best tasting raw plant protein on the planet, period. Combine with pea protein and you have dynamite! I love making shakes with this. My favourite recipe is a small can of white beans, 1/2 c. strawberries, 1 tsp. flaxmeal and 1 scoop (30g) of brown rice protein. You can even add more fruits. I bought a large 2.5 kg bag of Brown Rice Protein recently and I'm really happy with it. I used to buy another brand of rice protein from the USA that was organic, but after getting a couple of bad batches (rancid) I decided to try a new supplier. I'm not a super fit bodybuilder or anything just a semi-vegetarian looking for some healthy, easy to digest protein to have as a breakfast that can keep me satisfied until lunch time. The texture of this is finer than other rice protein powders I've tried, so I find that it mixes easily. I think this also contributes to a less chalky taste/texture. However, it still has a slightly chalky texture, I think that is just what you get with any rice protein. In terms of flavour, it has a mild cereal like taste with a hint of bitterness (reminiscent of sesame seed perhaps). But I much prefer it to hemp protein (bitter and gritty) or pea protein (rather savoury and lentil like). Also, I have had adverse reactions to pea protein (nausea, upset stomach etc.) so I never want to try that again. I have a sensitive stomach but have no problems with this rice protein, in fact I usually feel good/energised within an hour of consuming it and don't get hungry again for 4-6 hours. I exercise lightly most days (yoga/pilates) and do physical work most days (yard work, DIY) and without some kind of protein for breakfast I get really hungry and cranky by lunchtime! I usually have 1.5 to 2 tablespoons of the powder mixed with a smoothie, goats yoghurt or almond milk and ground flax seeds. Brown Rice Protein is O. It doesn't have the best taste in the world but it seems like I've got used to it. The bigger issue than the taste is its texture, because it isn't creamy but a little bit sandy. It is better if consumed with more liquid.
A godo product, mixes pretty well and seems to eb very easy to digest (I'm not bloating like I seem to with why protein shakes), and seems to be doing the trick with supporting protein intake (gradually building muscle mass). But, there's no two ways about it, this tastes bad! Another reviewer compared the taste to cardboard and I'd say that's pretty much spot on. I've tried mixing this with cocoa powder and some sweetener and that seems to be the only way i can make it palatable (i tried the flavour drops but it's still a cloying, sawdust/cardboard taste). I even tried making peanut butter and coca cookies with it and cant mask the taste. I'm going to stick with it for two reasons - it's a cheap, healthy source of protein and it seems to work well with my digestion, just got to figure out ways to make it more palatable! We previously bought pea protein but found it needed a lot to cover the flavour in shakes. Whereas this Brown Rice Protein is a very neutral taste, just like brown rice, unsurprisingly! I have it in my porridge and can hardly taste it. It's not fishy at all, not like flax oil can be, I really recommend this stuff, my husband does too.

Brown Rice Protein is a good product but the taste is very bad in my opinion.
Brown Rice Protein is brilliant, it mixes fairly well and doesn't stay suspended in the liquid that long. Adding flavour drops makes the drink taste okay. It doesn't bloat you like whey does.
I have only used this Brown Rice Protein for baking, so far (I mix it with gluten-free flour). It seems a good product, and the powder is very fine, which is an advantage.
