Branched Chain Amino Acids are essential amino acids which contain a 2:1:1 ratio of Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine. These amino acids are considered to be essential as they cannot be synthesised by the body, so must be consumed from dietary sources.
During exercise amino acids become more important as it is difficult to maintain the desired levels from food alone. With this powder you can reach optimum levels of branch chain amino acids in a quick and easy way.
Amino acids can be consumed throughout the day for or before, during and after workouts.
They're generally consumed by active individuals and are suitable for anyone taking part in intense training or exercise.
5 grams of BCAA's can be consumed 2-4 times daily. You canconsume by mixing with water, or for best results add 2 MP small scoops to your favourite fruit juice or pre/post workout shake.
Add your preferred amount of water or fruit juice into our shaker. Then add 5g, shake and consume. Use 2-4 times daily for optimal results.
Note: We advise that all servings are measured using an accurate set of scales. While we make every attempt to provide an accurate equivalent measure using our Myprotein scoops, these are only approximate and are not a substitute for using a standardised measuring device.

I am 30 years old, 12 years lifting experience and 10 years as a PT. I have cut around 5x never with this supplement. Previously I have noticed some muscle and strength loss which I thought was inevitable. This time I thought I would try using branched chain amino acids to prevent catabolism of my muscle tissue which studies have claimed it does. I started with about 15g a day, one upon waking, one pre workout and one during workout. Over the next few weeks this did seem to slow or completely prevent muscle breakdown in a calorie deficit. I read more and more studies suggesting that more BCAAs would enhance the muscle preservation and strength so increased my doseage to 40mg for the last few weeks. Well... Some things happened I did not expect. I have more muscle fullness, INCREASED strength and think that I may have actually gained a slight amount of muscle! It also seems to have accelerated my fat loss and my recovery has been immense considering I am a natural trainer, train 6 days a week, in a calorie deficit with about 6.5 hours sleep a night. I have tried fat burners, test boosters, pre workouts blah blah etc etc but this is now my favorite supplement. A must if you are dieting IMO and want to maintain hard earned muscle.Goes Well With:Everything
Theis is a warning. Always go for a flavoured version and mix it with water. The unflavoured is horrific. It's like chewing fistfuls of aspirin. If you add it to a flavoured shake it removes all the original flavour and makes the whole thing really bitter and gag-inducing.
Effectiveness - I've used BCAA's from myprotein in the past and am very happy with the results I get from them. I always put in 110% effort on every workout and as a result have formed an intimate relationship with DOMS. Taking BCAAs lessens the duration and intensity of DOMS by a fair amount, making me able to hit that area again sooner - I train everything twice a week. I can't comment on muscle retention during cutting as I haven't had the need to cut yet. Eat right and you can just keep building lean muscle year round. Flavour - Previously I had some tropical flavour, this time I thought I'd live on the edge a little and ordered Blue Raspberry. Don't get me wrong, its perfectly palatable (if a bit too sweet and not at all raspberry flavoured), I just didn't expect it to be so...blue. I feel like I'm drinking a magic potion from World of Warcraft, and a couple of regulars have very helpfully pointed out that ink is for writing with, not drinking. It does go nicely with the lid of my MP shaker though. There's always a silver lining. Goes Well With:Water, MP blue branding, smurfs.
Really enjoying my experiments with BCAA's - seems to be providing exactly the boost I needed for quicker recovery and preservation of muscle mass whilst dropping calories. As a girl I'm not looking to get super swole, just to tone up, lean up and bump up my muscle size without getting bulky. This product has definitely helped me to train harder and longer. I'm seeing really impressive results and increased capacity on heavy weights and reps with a significant reduction in BF% and better definition. I have watermelon flavour which is good but pretty sweet. Mixes relatively easily but needs a lot of shaking.
This BCAA product is effective, the flavoured version is always much more palatble and easier to mix than unflavoured. However I just purchased watermelon flavour and it is so sickly sweet I would never buy that flavour again. I previously had 'berry blast' flavour and I would definitely recommend that one. I don't understand why My Protein uses all these hideous additives and colourings to make the drink a synthetic 'watermelon' colour. I would much prefer to have a product with the least amount of additives possible especially one for a BCAA - I don't choose to drink it based on how appealing the colour of my drink is.Goes Well With:water
Well I am 37 (getting on) and been trying to be a muscle god for over 20 years failing miserable lol. My main issues have been recovery and fatigue. I have nearly finished my first pack and well I have seen some amazing results. Recovery for is now minor issues as I have been taking this supplement before workout , after and just before sleep. The first set with these amino acids actually gave me a ridiculous buzz (dont know why) then I notice fatigue was no near what I had prevously felt. As alway got a cold and was off for about 8 days. On coming back as always I would have ridiculous chest pains on recovery and again these were practically non existent with branched chain amino acids. Again I had an insane buzz on starting training after drinking the supplement. Th buzz could be a placebo effect but I really do think that My body has probably always needed a boost. Loving training again and would reccomend adding BCAA to your diet even if you a 2 to 3 times gym goer , i am now able to go 6 days a week with no issues on recovery. I am taking IMPACT WHEY Protein Isolate as well twice a day while dieting. ******* The key to mixibility is put in a shaker with around 200 -300 ml shake well, let stand for 2 mins and cloudyness goes and it blends with any liquid.Goes Well With:Whey Impact Isolate, Water , dilute Ribena ( or any other berry cordial :)
I always lose muscle with running or cardio but since I have taken this supplement it has solved this issue. I've noticed that I keep my muscle after long runs and my body fat has dropped. It works really well with intermittent fasting and lean diets.
I've been using this no fuss, to the point powdered form for a couple of years now. I don't see the point in all those flavoured products or having it in capsules, it is what it is, as powder, shake it with some water and drink it.... I recommend this to anyone. I find this product especially useful as I don't eat meat, so despite all the careful attention to my nutrition it is still hard to hit all my needs in terms of amino intake.
This powder is extremely effective at what it is designed to do, and really helps me to maintain my muscle mass during cutting periods. Having recently just completed a cut, coming down from around 89KG - to 81KG, Branched Chain Amino Acids really helped me to maintain my muscle size, density and strength. Even managed to squeeze more reps out on the 50KG dumbbells! Yes, a lot of my weight was probably water retention, but I lost that and maintained easily with this product. Consuming one serving as soon as I wake up, one before/during my workout, one serving after and one before bed with Casein I find this really aids my recovery. I opted for the unflavoured version as being a student, every saving of money helps and the taste shouldn't bother you, just get it down and quit whinging!
This is a great addition to any nutritional regime, add these essential amino acids to your training programme and increase your progress. In my programme I take two table spoons before training and the same after. There is a method to this, which is to gather a table spoon full from the pouch and put it in your mouth and have a glass of water to hand and take enough water to swallow the powder in one. I would not recommend mixing this with a shake though, just get it down in one, you know you are not buying this for it to taste nice, but just get it down and see results with training.Goes Well With:Whey protein but do not mix it, though add this to your nutritional programme.
TRIED A SMALL BAG OF THIS IN BLUE RASBERRY TO SEE IF ITS ANY DIFFERENT TO TAKING THE "HUGE" BCAA TABLETS. WELL I WILL START WITH THE FLAVOUR BLUE RASBERRY IS VERY SWEET BUT TASTES AMAZING LIKE BUBBLEGUM PANDA POPS I DRANK AS A CHILD MMMMM, AFTER MY FIRST TASTE I WENT AND BROUGHT 2X 1 KG BAGS OF THIS STUFF! HAVE NOW BEEN USING THIS FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS HAVING 2 DRINKS A DAY SIPPING ONE WHILST WEIGHT TRAINING AND MIXING WITH 500-600ML WATER, I FIND THIS IS 100X BETTER THAN TAKING BCAA TABLETS, NO SORENESS WHILST TRAINING AND NO SORENESS AFTER TRAINING AT ALL WHICH MEANS I CAN TRAIN CONFIDENTLY EVERY DAY WITHOUT WORRY OF ACHES AND PAINS! WOULD RECCOMEND THIS 100% TO ANY SERIOUS GYM GOER CAN NOT COMMENT ON OTHER FLAVOURS BUT THE BLUE RASBERRY IS 10/10 FOR ME THANKS MY PROTEINGoes Well With:WATER 500-600ML HARD TRAINING
Only been using it for 2 weeks now and I can already noticed how quickly my muscles have developed in the short space of time since using the product. The raspberry lemonade flavour tastes excellent and mixes well too!Goes Well With:Water
Sour apple flavour is not as sour as i had hope, it is far to sweet, almost slickly. the apple flavour is there but its meant to be sour apple, that makes your lips smack and pucker, not apple so sweet you can barely drink it. please make it more sour/tarte.
I always love adding new chemicals to my arsenal and BCAA supplements looked like a good thing to try based on different opinions. It's one of those that you really need to try to see if it will do anything for you. It's less clear cut than Protein and you do already get BCAA from normal Protein shakes, just in a different form. From what I understand: BCAAs are one chain of the amino acids that make up whole Protein? I also heard that BCAAs are absorbed very quickly and are therefore something you can consider taking during your workout. They reduce muscle breakdown when you're in a fasted state? In terms of this product, I read that the unflavoured is pretty savage when mixed into other potions so I decided to go with Blue Raspberry and consume it separately. The flavour is lovely. Tastes almost like a bubble gum Panda Pop. If you mix 1 level scoop (one of the tiny scoops) with 1 whole standard MP shaker of water, it's a perfect blend. Sweet taste but not sickly. It mixes easily. First of all looks like it will leave powdery clumps but after a vigorous shake, leave it to settle and the powder is all gone. I wouldn't recommend stirring it into a glass because it's very difficult to mix in all the surface powder and it's not as pleasant. Powder consistency is very fine like Creatine Mono powder. The colour is suspect. The powder is perfectly white and stays that way when you add water but once you shake, the water turns a very strong blue colour, nearly the same shade of blue as the MP shaker lid! Also the blue raspberry flavour has embedded itself into my MP shaker. This particular shaker is now permanently my BCAA shaker because no matter how hard I clean it, it still stinks of blue raspberry. Perhaps consider dedicating a shaker to it if you go for a flavoured version. It comes with an MP small scoop. I make a 1 scoop shake with water and drink it on my way to work (or some time in the morning when I'm not working). Then I mix up another to drink during my workout. Once I've finished the mixture I just fill the shaker up again with water. I got BCAA because I often commit the biggest bodybuilding sin - I don't always prepare well and often I'll have to work out after not eating for 5 hours since lunch. The affects are all subjective I guess. For me personally, I honestly feel more energised. Not bouncing off the walls pre-workout shake sort of energised but it now takes me a lot longer to feel sluggish. I feel focused and less jittery. It could just be the sweeteners in the drink. I really don't know. It just works. It's nice to have some flavour in my gym drink too rather than just endlessly chugging water, which doesn't always quench the thirst as much as a hit of flavour. One thing it has done is encouraged me to increase my water intake during the day so that can only be a good thing. My definition is improving and while that may not be a direct result of the BCAA powder, it could be a result of me being able to work out harder and stay focused, as a result of sipping BCAA during my workout. Goes Well With:Water
Great supplement, find the mix ability quite poor with water but overall it's a great supplant for retaining muscle mass Goes Well With:Impact whey protein
A bit dissatisfied because this was recommended for my goals through live chat. Upon further research, realised it doesn't suit me
I purchased a 250g bag of the blue raspberry flavor and tried it out once and completely fell in love with it and purchased another kilo. the flavor is amazing! just make sure you dont add too much powder otherwise it becomes very sickly. it looks cool because it is literally bright blue! the overall effectiveness is amazing too. a very good product all together.Goes Well With:water
Tastes exactly like KIA black grape which used to be one of my favourite soft drinks, will definitely be buying more in future.
Ok.....this product isn't cheap gramme for gramme....however, I find cheap = waste of money! time & effort. So...considering the muscle fullness I'm feeling on 20g a day: 5 on waking 10 pre workout & 5 during workout, I am happy with his product. Flavour is naff as is the unnecessary nasty colouring which stains your skin etc...(don't get powder on wet hands!) (lemon & lime). Mixability is excellent. However, we buy these products for results....this works!Goes Well With:Cold Water
Great product and can see and feel the effectiveness however unflavored is tastes horrible and struggle to finish it all as i cannot bare the taste, recommend to get a flavor!!
bought the grape flavor bcaa, and the taste is absolutely amazing. I enjoy drinking it as a juice during my workouts and in the mornings as well. Had a few injuries, and it helps recovery speed up. will definitely be buying another pack after this, have plenty of flavors to try :) highly recommend it.Goes Well With:water!!
I have been adding 10g of BCAA and 5g of Creatine to my Morning, Pre Workout and Post Workout Protein Shakes. The results have been very noticeable. Energy levels and Strength have gone up and my Fat Levels are going down. The addition of the BCAA is the only change to my diet and routine that i have made in the last 6 weeks. I use the Unflavoured Powder so the taste is not an issue and it mixes very well with my Protein Shakes.Goes Well With:Whey Protein Creatine
I ve ordered the unflavoured one and it mixes very good with 200 ml water. My muscles recover faster too.The only problem is that the powder smells so bad it reminds me of my dogs food(eww). When mixed with water it doesnt smell at all but when i open the bag it smells awfull.I dont know why noone else mentioned it, i hope my powder is not outdated!
Excellent product excellent effectivness
Recovery is okay but I literally could not get it to mix. Put into my mixer with the metal mixer shook for ages. I then used a fork andspoon but the ppowder just clumped and settled. Taste is vile I could just about stomach it. Don't think I will continue to use this product.
This product scores 10 out 10 on effectiveness, it is a must have. Choose the flavored one as unflavored tastes like hell. IF you can afford a few more pound, go with iBCAA which provides everything this ingredient gives plus tastes really good.
I think a lot of people are giving this a bad review because they're not allowing enough time for the powder to actually mix in. I put 2scoops in a 500ml bottle and fill it up with water, give it a 5mins rest, a quick shake and it tastes like a very diluted squash drink!! I can't say I've noticed a change in my recovery time just yet, but I'll stick at it and see how my results improve. Goes Well With:water
Hey myprotein-users Its a great product, but the taste is not that great (unflavored). The ones with flavor is 100 times better!
First time using this product and it seems to be going well so far. Nice taste and mixes fairly well. Hopefully it continues that way, cheers myprotein.
After using this product for 5 weeks the biggest thing I noticed is the reduction in DOMS. The Tropical flavour, although a bit sweet, mixes really well with water and after a couple of minutes settles to a nice liquid without a froth on the top. The Berry Blast however has a slightly paracetamol type taste. I take 10g 30 mins before workout and 10g immediately after. I can't really comment on the workout effects as I started this at the same time as a new routine. 5* for Tropical and 4* for Berry Blast (due to taste) Goes Well With:Tropical with water Berry Blast with juice
Recently purchased the raspberry lemonade flavour, much to my disappointment. I cannot finish the 5g serving even after mixing with water on multiple occasions in an atempt to water it down due to the foul taste. Does mix well but cannot cope with the tasteGoes Well With:Water
This is good if you are doing lots of intense exercise throughout the week. It speeds up my recovery time and I am able to burn 700 calories at the gym 6 days a week. I would advise others to get a flavoured version as the unflavoured tastes horrible even with plenty of squash. Make sure you mix it for at least 30 seconds because it takes a while to absorb into your drink.Goes Well With:Large glass of squash
I've been using this the past few months to try to combat muscle breakdown whilst cutting. I've been losing weight and body fat % steadily but my strength has not decreased, so I believe the BCAAs are helping a lot here. The unflavoured version is quite unpleasant when taken with just water, but mixing it with Impact Whey and other supplements masks the taste. The Blue Raspberry tastes great with water (more like flat bubblegum soda flavour), but can be a bit sickly when mixed with unflavoured Impact Whey. Be precise with the doses, as I made the mistake of having too much at a time (10g was too much for me) which resulted in some upset stomachs and colorful excrement. 5-6g is the ideal amount for me at 180lbs. Overall a good supplement to help preserve muscle whilst cutting. I've also used in whilst bulking up in the past but I think that was unnecessary, though it can't hurt for the price. Goes Well With:Water, Impact Whey Protein, Maltodextrin, Dextrose
Do not buy the sour apple flavour, after unflavoured casein hydrolysate this is the worst tasting flavour I have ever encounted. While cheaper than other competitors this is not worth while, taste is 0/10, mixability 2/10 and thus effectiveness 0/10 because it tastes so bad you don't want to take it. Buy bulk powders IBCAAs. The flavour is artificial and makes you feel ill. I'm surprised myprotein allowed this past their taste tests. Goes Well With:Not drinking at all.
Taste wise, the blueberry flavour, in my opinion, is way too sweet. It's like I'm drinking sugar and the bright blue colouring doesn't help, all very artificial. Also, tastes nothing like blueberries. I prefer the orange flavour, it's more subtle and like orange squash.
This is an initial review of first impressions of this product. I take one in the morning and one during my workout. Only have 2 a day because I am on other stuff which gives me the BCAA in anyway so no need to waste the products, due to the body can't store amino acids and if they aren't used then they go in one end and out the other. Essentially flushing your money down the toilet. The product mixes well and only took few shakes which is good. I tried one of the new flavours 'Sour Apple' and I is not great at all. It's like drinking really weak apple juice. If you take the powder just of the teaspoon and with dash of water you get a sour taste which is actually better sometimes than having to drink the whole thing. So taste is very poor for this flavour will try a different one next time if I see some positive results. Will review later about if this products makes any difference to workout and the end result. :)Goes Well With:water
Started using this as part of my bodycoach programme of work, I have to say I wish i started using this a lot earlier as the effectiveness seems to be second to none. However couple of points: Lemon and Lime flavour - don't get this on your skin as it is very hard to get off. I dread to think what would be the effect if it were to get on your clothes. Mixability - I've had more success watching a brick dissolve in water compared to this. Give it a good shake!
Blue raspberry tastes good- very sweet though if you don't put in at least 500ml of water. Aids recovery time and allows me to train 6 times per week, but haven't seen other effects yet as only been using about 2 weeks.Goes Well With:water
Be aware that the unflavoured version tastes absolutely horrible. I have tried mixing it with a lot of different stuff, but the chemical taste from the powder is just so strong that nothing can balance it out. Now I'm stuck with 2 kg of this inconsumable white powder (why did I buy so much??) I haven't tried any of the flavoured versions yet, but from the comments it seems that they taste fine.
The orange flavour was absolutely undrinkable. I don't usually complain about the taste of workout supplements; we're not drinking it for the taste at the end of the day. But this one was absolutely undrinkable. Very disappointed with this product and had to buy a different one to replace it. Have always loved my proteins products but this one was a disappointing first. Can't comment how effective it actually is as i stopped using it after 3 days, and the other flavours may taste absolutely fine. But just don't go for the orange!Goes Well With:the bin.
Powder works great I use pre and post workout. Orange flavour is gross, I've had people recommend tropical or berry blast. Mixes better with warmer water so don't run the cold tap for ages. Like other reviews wait til bubbles go down and then just chuck it back!Goes Well With:Warmish water
I got a pouch of orange BCAA on my last order. It's effective but tastes like a very cheap/weak orange squash
After buying this unflavoured, I decided to buy another in Tropical and glad I did. It's true what someone said, that unflavoured tastes like crushed paracetamol, but the tropical tastes just like a squash. Can't say much on affectiveness, as not been using it long enough.
I found this to be too sweet for me. The flavour was ok, but way too sweet. I think the BCAA product itself is great but I don't like the sweatners that myprotein use. I'm gonna go for the unflavoured option now and just mix in my own flavours.
I started using this particular product roughly around 4 weeks ago. I always really struggled with muscle fatigue and DOMs, which would massively put me off my weekly training routine as i like to try and go 5/6 times per week. The BCAAs have massively reduced this and enabled me to go to the gym day after day and not get the DOMs that i used to. Not only has it helped with that but in 4 weeks i have seen an increase in strength, muscle definition and size (alongside certain dieting). i have also seen a good amount of fat loss, which is always a massive bonus. i take 4 scoops with 600ml of water whilst training, and 3 scoops upon waking with around 500ml of water. highly recommend the Raspberry lemonade flavour! all in all a great product and highly recommended by myself!Goes Well With:Water/Cordial
I got these as I wanted something to have pre-workout and not as heavy as a whey shake. I got 3 flavours: * Berry Blast * Blue Raspberry * Tropical Berry blast was great, not too sweet for the morning but sweet enough to cover the caffeine powder needed to get me through my 5am workout. When I get more I think I will get this again. Blue Raspberry is a horrible experiment gone wrong tbh. First the colour, it's bright blue! Second the taste is revolting. The first time I drank it I filled it with too much water and it took me ages to down it. Now I put a very small amount in and get it down as quick as possible. If I didn't care about wasting money this would go in the bin. Tropical. Not tried yet but will do as I hate blue raspberry. As for effects. I have noticed my workouts to be better in the morning. I have also noticed some improved muscle definition since taking this on top of my existing whey shakes.Goes Well With:Water
So after reading reviews I ordered the Blue Raspberry flavour and was pleasantly surprised, it tastes like a watered down tip top! I put one scoop in 500ml, if you put anymore in it can get a bit weird tasting and sickly! But overall I'm happy its nice and would recommend. Also you get loads of funny looks and comments- drinking WKD, pool cleaner, windscreen wash, you'll hear it all!
BCAA's known as an expensive cordial, i joined the hype train of everyone on social medias using them and recommending blue raspberry, tried it with different amounts of water and it all taste awful, initial mixing is a bit difficult as it rises and bubbles on the top but when you let it settle for like 1 or 2 minutes its fine. I had to mix MiWadi blackcurrent cordial in to make it drinkable. I dont recommend Blue Raspberry!!Goes Well With:water and blackcurrant cordial
I drink the unflavored BCAAs. You cannot expect these to taste good, but after a while it is very easy to get used to. Fantastic protein source during fasted periods and mixes very well. Good value too.
Great product. Taste is okay, not great but not nasty. Mixes fairly well, left with some floating bits. Definitely does the job though. Goes Well With:Water. If your not bothered about taste, whack a scoop in your shake.
