Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) are Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine. They are considered to be essential amino acids because humans could not survive unless they were present in their diet.
BCAAs are required to maintain lean tissue and studies have shown that they help to preserve your stores of glycogen. BCAAs also prevent tissue breakdown during training.
Unlike other amino acids BCAAs are not metabolised in the stomach and are instead metabolised directly in the muscle. This unique quality means that they build lean tissue and stop catabolism. These unique amino acids (Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine) cannot be synthesised by your body so they are essential to your growth.
Don't like the taste of BCAA powder? Why not try our BCAA+ Tablets.
You can increase the effectiveness of BCAAs by consuming 10mg of Vitamin B6 with every 10g of BCAA.
As a dietary supplement we recommend consuming 5 grams 2 - 4 times daily for optimal results. Best consumed with your preferred amount of water or fruit juice.
Add 2 heaped MP small scoops (5g) to your preferred amount of water or fruit juice and consume immediately.
1 x level MP Plastic Scoop (small) weighs 2.2g. (not included)
BCAA (Leucine:Isoleucine:Valine), BCAA (Leucine:Isoleucine:Valine), Citric Acid (berry blast flavour only), Colourings (Beetroot Red [berry blast flavour only], Anthocyanin [berry blast flavour only]), Flavouring (flavoured options only), Sweetener (Sucralose® [flavoured options only]).
Amount per 5g serving:Leucine: 2.5gIsoleucine: 1.25gValine: 1.25gPlease note this nutritional information is taken from the unflavoured version. When choosing a flavoured version it will reduce the BCAA content by approximately 0.75g per serving

Perfect for drying out, taste good!Goes Well With:Impact whey
- (12 / Feb / 2014)
Great supplement that I've seen solid results with. Has made my cut much more efficient than my last and held onto a lot more strength and muscle in general.
I went for Tropical flavour. It's not great. Not that it tastes bad, but you don't use enough of the powder to properly flavour a drink so it just tastes like really weak squash. I'd suggest going unflavoured (which I've had before and you can't taste at all) and flavour with your own cordial if you need to add taste.
Doesn't mix easily, but that's just BCAAs for you, nothing bad about this brand. But you'll need a proper shaker. You won't be able to stir it in.
Overall a good product but the particular version I got is let down by taste. Go for unflavoured.
Not what i expected
- (11 / Feb / 2014)
Tried to mix it with water and just sat on the top. The only way i could take it was if i blended the water with it in or put in with my protein shake. However it made a great tasting shake unbarable. Would recomend capsules.
Ewww bit yukky
- (10 / Feb / 2014)
Was not expecting this to taste so yukky, but compared to some other MP powders its quaffable. I mix it witha strong tasting juice like grapefruit. Interesting to see what the results will be. Hope to see some effects in a few weeks and if the results are good I will stick with it.Goes Well With:Taurine possibly, or superfood greens powders
Brilliant taste and mixability
Received my BCAA's in the tropical flavour just over a week ago now, the taste is far better than the berry! Taste isn't far off that of robinsons squash!
Mixes really well too, needs to be shaken well for a good few minutes but no powder left floating on the top after!
Would recommend this flavour and product to anyone, can't comment much on the effectiveness just yet as I haven't been using it long enough but so far I'm impressed! Goes Well With:Water
Not sure if the product works yet. I suppose I have noticed my recovery is more efficient. However, this product tastes vile, I thought I could mix it in my protein shakes but it makes them taste horrible. Also doesn't mix at all well on it's own with water. I would strongly suggest buying the tablets, would be a lot more convenient! Goes Well With:Nothing! But I take with Whey Protein and Creatine.
Not the best tasting, but drinking quickly helps. Not sure whether to try with juice, or just get used to it. It is only 10 times a week!
- (07 / Feb / 2014)
Great taste but could mix better.
- (30 / Jan / 2014)
I think this BCAA is a great product and the effect is really good. The taste could be better, but i don't think so much about it when i train and the product really help my muscle to grow! Goes Well With:Water!

Never use this website again... very poor delivery service
I guess it works
- (29 / Jan / 2014)
I guess this stuff does what it promises to do. It doesn't give any stomach cramps or give any unpleasant side effects. Bad news is I don't recall anything that would taste as bad and the mixability is very poor. But I think most other BCAA's on the market have those negative characteristics as well.
- (28 / Jan / 2014)
This is a great product
- (27 / Jan / 2014)
I chose the Berry Blast.
Mixes completely with 100ml of water with just a couple of shakes (in a normal water bottle, not a mixer) and tastes fine; just like a berry squash drink.
Taste and quality
- (24 / Jan / 2014)
The berry blast taste is an absolute treat , goes well with my unflavoured protein but overall doesn't mix wellGoes Well With:Impact whey isolate
At first I was surprised by how little was required to be mixed, but it seems to be working just fine so I wont complain.
The taste of the berries really does come through, and at first I thought it was a bit bitter, but I got used to it really quickly. The mixability is absolute so there are no lumps, even in an ordinary waterbottle.
All in All I'm glad I purchased this product, My muscles aren't as sore any more after a workout, and my strength is increasing with each workout.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has hit a plateau in their training or if you need an extra boost to hit your goals.
- (22 / Jan / 2014)
Overall is great. It does what is supposed to do. Great stuff. To get rid of bad taste put powder in your shaker with about 4 dcl of water and bad taste will go away.Goes Well With:Water
- (22 / Jan / 2014)
First time I've tested BCAA and have to admit that is useful. Gives me more energy and I recover faster.Goes Well With:Everything
- (21 / Jan / 2014)
Its a great product. The taste is alright but once i mix it in with my protein powder it tastes fine. definitely recommend it.Goes Well With:Vegan Reflex Chocolate
- (20 / Jan / 2014)
Great stuff - I mainly use it to reduce recovery time, this stuff taken straight after a heavy session makes the next day a lot more bearable, even with leg days. Apparently helps gain muscle too, I didn't mean for that to happen but I did make some serious gains after starting to use this stuff. Gonna keep using it - the thought of going back to post-training days without the pain relief is scaryGoes Well With:Impact Whey
- (20 / Jan / 2014)
This product is a vital component for anyone wanting to gain lean muscle and maintain it. I have been using BCAA's for a few weeks now and the results are definitely showing. I have been able to trim the fat while keeping my muscle. Highly recommend!Goes Well With:True Whey
- (19 / Jan / 2014)
Good cheap and cheerful product does what it says. taste is terrible as everyone has said but what i found is adding orange squash cordial (sugar free of course) really hides the taste :)Goes Well With:orange cordial or yogurt
Very useful supplement
- (15 / Jan / 2014)
The price might scare you off but don't let it! The bags last for ages because you use such small servings. I mix with maltodextrin during my workout and I firmly believe it has helped me grow. If you're like me and always have water when you wake up in the night, do yourself a favour and add some to it/have a shake as soon as you wake up. Worth the moneyGoes Well With:Impact Whey, Maltodextrin, Creatine
- (08 / Jan / 2014)
As most others have said - the unflavoured is awful and seems to overpower anything else you mix it with - if you can mix it - it would be easier trying to get engine oil mixed into water.
Typically I get towards the end of my pack and think I finally cracked it - mixing it with a little Ribena in the MP shaker prior to topping up with water seems to do the trick - still needs a good shake but at least the taste is hidden and the powder isn't left floating on the top!!Goes Well With:Ribena, the bin.
- (08 / Jan / 2014)
Was worried at first after reading reviews of the taste... got the tropical one today and have absolutely no problems with it! I mixed it with about 300ml of water and it tasted fine, not too sweet but not flavourless either! good product
- (22 / Dec / 2013)
Very glad with the Tropical BCAA. Smells like puke before mixing it with water (smells like unflavoured BCAA) - But after mixing with water it smells like normal juice. Taste is amazing and easy to drink, without it being too sweet or strong in the flavour. Mixing is very easy, shake it for 10 seconds with water in a normal water bottle, and it's one. I mix 2-3 scoops with 300ml water in a normal water bottle. I don't understand why people are complaining about the foul taste of the unflavoured BCAA - that's just how BCAA tastes without flavouring.. A simple google search could have told them that..Goes Well With:Water/juice
- (13 / Dec / 2013)
Have never tried BCAAs before but I am currently using them to maintain lean body mass whilst cutting body fat. I have noticed that I have held onto almost all, possibly gained muscle from taking this. Only down side is that it doesn't taste great and seems to be waterproof. I have to mix it with an electric blender or it just sits on top of the water I put it in. Overall, good product at a very good priceGoes Well With:Impact Whey, Yogurts
- (28 / Nov / 2013)
Overall this is great stuff. Totally agree with the bad taste but fruit juice does tend to take the taste away although not by much. I've found that shovelling it straight into my mouth and then taking a drink makes a massive difference. You can only taste it for a second or so rather than suffer drinking a full glass of it. Try it.Goes Well With:fruit juice, cottage cheese, protein pancakes
- (18 / Nov / 2013)
The unflavoured version tastes disgusting, no matter what you mix it with it still doesn't taste any better and doesn't seem to mix very well, if your going to buy definitely go for one of the flavoured versions.Goes Well With:nothing, tried milk water 2 different flavours of impact whey protein but still tastes grim.
- (15 / Nov / 2013)
The unflavoured version really tastes like poison! Even adding vanilla flavour drops or agave syrup does not change the taste. It's horrible. I need to try mixing with juice
Also it mixes really poorly in water. It sits on the top and looks like carbon snow.
As for the results I think it's pretty good as I have stopped training for a couple of months and still kept almost all my gains (which never happened before when taking a break. Could be the Bulbine too though)
- (13 / Nov / 2013)
BCAA is a good product, it does not taste nice but if you mix it with L glutamine you can't taste a thing.
- (12 / Nov / 2013)
Taste is pretty bland, mixes okay. It takes a little while to completely dissolve and works nicely.
- (10 / Nov / 2013)
Cannot review on using this has I can't stomach it. It tastes disgusting in my opinion. I don't mind the unflavoured protein, but this is bad even with strawberry drops in it.I probably won't ever use this unfortunately.
- (05 / Nov / 2013)
In a low calorie diet BCAA can help hold your muscle mass. The taste is not so good, but for this price, it is ok. Before training it can help prevent muscle catabloism.Goes Well With:Glutamine

Mixes very nicely and the flavor is great. Essential part of my pre workout.Goes Well With:H20 - 10 grams in 200 mls
- (05 / Nov / 2013)
Bought 500g of mixed berry BCAA powder. It's a sound product and like all BCAA powders takes a little time mixing but end result is a very drinkable product. Will buy again.
Best there is
- (29 / Oct / 2013)
i train everyday and i have used more expensive BCAA powders before i started this one. and for me this is the best
helps a lot with recovery and is easy to mix.Goes Well With:I sometimes mix 2 scoops into my cookies and cream protein shake for extreme recovery
- (28 / Oct / 2013)
First try with BCAA's and very Impressed
- (26 / Oct / 2013)
I have been an avid gym user and customer to MyProtein, however have never bought a BCAA product until now.
I am currently cutting carbohydrate intake and maintaining exercise intensity to cut my body fat %, but of course the biggest concern is maintaining lean muscle mass.
I have been using this product now for about 4 weeks and I am very impressed with the results. I have 2 scoops of BCAA powder mixed with a small tub (300g) of cottage cheese before I go to bed. I can usually bare the natural taste of cottage cheese but this tastes just like a berry yogurt! I highly recommend. And once or twice a day I mix in a couple of scoops with fruit juice or just water just to keep myself topped up throughout the day.
Goes Well With:Cottage Cheese, Fruit Juice, Water
- (22 / Oct / 2013)
First time I have tried the product as I would normally find BCAA in tabs form. Goes easily down with good taste. Already being in liquid form your body is ready to make good use of it.
- (21 / Oct / 2013)
I have been trying this now and I am on my second batch. I have really noticed a difference my body has got alot more toned. My first batch was berry flabour which tastes really good and my second batch is tropical which also tastes great.Goes Well With:water
- (17 / Oct / 2013)
I take this with protein and milk so it tastes great dont know how it tastes on its own.
Since taking this and whey protein I have felt some improvements so thats a good sign and plus the price is very reasonable as well.Goes Well With:Protein and milk
- (15 / Oct / 2013)
I use this product with a pint of water 3/4x a day. I have noticed a good gain from this and will continue to purchase this item.Goes Well With:Water/Squash
Good stuff but...
- (15 / Oct / 2013)
This stuff does the trick, but thats about the only positive. It tastes horrific and mixes badly. I'd suggest mixing it with something that tastes better.
- (14 / Oct / 2013)
Mixes great, tastes lovely and help me pack on 2 inches on my chest, half an inch around my arms, keeps my energy and muscle endurance up throughout my workout.
Invaluable. A must buy.
- (12 / Oct / 2013)
I have been taking these for a couple months now... The result is incredible I take the reccomended dose after my workout in the 45min window... I was reccomended these from my nutritionist to help me recover after heavy strength training! I bought the unflavoured ones and I agree with some of the revies the taste is diabolical... It doesnt mix with water and makes your protein shake taste horrible however if you mix it with fruit juice its absolutly fine, it mixes perfect no lumbs and you can't taste it at all! I take mine with orange juice and have absolutly no problems.. I highly reccomend this to anyone who doesn't want to lose muscle and speed their recovery time.Goes Well With:Orange Juice
- (08 / Oct / 2013)
Bought the unflavoured.
This does not taste good at all.
It does not mix with water, you will need to add something for it to bind too. Mixing it with a shake will probably just ruin your shake (in taste).
With a blender, I find adding 50-100ml of water, 1tsp of peanut butter and the BCAA mixes well, with not too much to pour down in a oner. The peanut butter does smooth out the taste, but it does not eliminate it.
- (05 / Oct / 2013)
The tropical storm flavour BCAA is better than the Berry Blast flavour. But as for its effectiveness: it's a good BCAA that can't be faulted. Does what it says on the tin.Goes Well With:A workout and recovery.
best amino in market
- (04 / Oct / 2013)
This is the best BCAA! I recommend the unflavored version, 5 grams during training with some lemon juice and a little honey...enjoy.
- (02 / Oct / 2013)
I have recently been using this BCAA during my weight training, combined with L Glutamine (1 flavoured/1 plain) and am definitely noticing the difference. My energy levels and muscle fatigue between sessions have improved. No issues for me with mixing, it seems to blend fine for what it is. I would recommend.
- (01 / Oct / 2013)
I opted for the unflavoured version of BCAA as it is more versatile to add to my smoothies and other recipes. On its own the taste is pretty sharp so I would recommend adding it to fairly strong tasting smoothies or juices to mark this.
I would recommend this to others as it is a good value, good quality product.
