As a lactose intolerant sufferer, I'm always in the market for a new way to get cals and protein. This seemed like a great idea. I'm normally against rating a product for it's taste, I happily chug down the vegan blend shake even though it's rancid, because it does the job. The ingredients of this bar are pretty similar to that shake. However, the saving grace with the shakes is that they can go down the hatchet in a second or two. These bad boys linger round like an ex that just won't take no for an answer. It takes me about 5/6 chews per bite before I'm even prepared to swallow, and even then I find i'll be gagging a fair bit. I wouldn't recommend these to anyone really, even the dog turned its nose up at one. If you can get past the taste i'm sure they do the trick, but i can't. Goes Well With:Shame and despair.
I was sceptical when I was buying them but price meant they were worth trying and even if they weren't very nice I would still make sure they got eaten. These are really nice. They are soft which was a really welcome surprise. When I first saw them I assumed they were going to be like chewing a doormat but they are the absolute opposite. They are ready to crumble in your mouth and they have that lovely mix of soft and firm bits (perhaps eat them while sat down though!) The firm bits come mostly in the form of pumpkin seeds which are also a nice addition. Something which may put some people off is the slight 'powdery-ness' but that was fine by me. They have a subtle cinnamon flavour which helps the whole experience. These will definitely help me in my quest to go from vegetarian to vegan and for the price they will be a frequent in my basket on myprotein. If they suit your dietary needs then I would say have a try.
I'm sure some people love this but in my opinion it tastes of mud.... mixed with pond water.... with sand in it. This can be marginally improved upon if you mix it with something with a very strong flavour. Saying that, due to its rather 'natural' taste, it makes you really feel like it's good for you, you can literally taste all the extra amino acids, and omega 6 and 3. That's the negatives out of the way. Nutrition wise, I think this is far better that whey protein, lots more goodies in your shake, and it's a good alternative if you're finding whey protein really bloats you out and you like drinking dirt. I shall not purchase this again though, I may try the soy protein...or just eat more steak.Goes Well With:Algae
Plant based protein does not necessarily taste great. These I found similar to plant protein I've used before and mixed with a load of nuts and oats. I liked the taste and loved the texture. Without being over sweeten and ruining them in my book they taste fairly natural, slightly earthy and organic. Having bought a box and to try and will now buy a few more boxes. I'm not vegan or even a veggie but I like to introduce plant based products into my diet. Goes Well With:Sensible eating plans and a healthy lifestyle.
It’s been amusing reading some of the reviews from people who aren’t vegan but have tried this product because they fancy trying something, and hate the taste & texture. Vegan bars like these are not primarily manufactured for our palate, they are plant based foods for people who do not eat food derived from animals. It has a completely different taste & texture to animal protein based protein bars. If you ‘fancy a change’, then buy some Jaffa Cakes. This is a vegan product & it tastes like a vegan product. It is suitable for my lifestyle & absolutely does the trick for me, since I switched to a vegan diet. I’m grateful that ‘MyProtein' caters for all tastes & diets. Goes Well With:Vegan Blend Protein Powder.
These are really delicious - perhaps the slightly apply taste is not for everyone, but I find them really tasty. Citrus, hemp, oats... quite sweet and I can taste the stevia, but it's not overpowering like some products. I really look forward to eating these as a treat, and was really pleased to find a vegan bar on the site. I'd recommend trying the sample to see if you're one of the marmite-reaction-people on this one.Goes Well With:Coffee
This product is so horrible. It also leaves a nasty after taste
Hemp Protein won't be to everyone's liking but I found this product to be a great alternative to the chewy, hard, mouth work outs of whey bars. A bar that is vegan friendly and containing natural plant protein in pea and hemp, with no nasty ingredients. Good use of coconut oil and date syrup mmmmm. Easy to eat in a smaller 50g bar, nice hint of cinnamon too. Not my go to bar but a good healthy alternative treat.Goes Well With:Green Tea
I'm not vegan These bars are very tasty. They are not gloopy and heavy like a lot of protein bars. I cant imagine how anyone could think they taste bad. On the other hand I am not a sugar fiend and wouldn't dream of drinking a can ok coke, nor do I have the sweet tooth of a 12 year old. Goes Well With:laying the smacketh downeth.
I was keen to try these, I love protein bars but they can be pricey and packed with all sorts of additives. I'm always happy to try healthier, more natural alternatives and these were pretty cheap compared to most I've seen. I tried one as soon as they arrived and was shocked at the taste. If I had no tastebuds, they would be perfect, texture of flapjack and quite filling but the taste is awful! It's like intense artificial sweetener mixed with marmite and mud......great practice if you're a celeb training for the bush tucker trial Goes Well With:A peg on your nose and no tastebuds
To say these bars taste unusual is an understatement. You get a whole range of flavours as you chew your way through each strangely soft but still somehow crunchy and crumbly bite, and none of those flavours is particularly pleasant. That being said, the bars are incredibly filling despite their small size and the chewiness does leave me feeling happily satiated. Combined with the great ratio of macronutrients that these have, that for me makes the purchase worth it. I'll continue to eat these occasionally, but they'd definitely become a regular staple of my diet if MyProtein were to release some flavoured options; bars with cocao powder added to mask the taste would be fantastic, for example.
I bought them as a treat to have but one bite was enough and left a bad taste, they need to come up with a flavour.Goes Well With:Nothing
These do not look nice but they taste great. As I'm dairy intolerant these are brilliant and they do fill you up to say they are small
I really like it. It does the job to bring in some extra proteins for a vegan who is trying to build muscle. And the taste is not bad.
These were surprisingly tasty. Nice nutty, cinnamony flavor. No overbearing sweetness or artificial taste that you typically get with protein bars (or the MyProtein brownies). I downed the whole box in a couple days.Goes Well With:A cup of coffee.
Having tried the mayoralty of the protein bars offered by MyProtein for some reason most give me IBS except the Brownies which I love although fairly high in carbs. Decided to try these which are surprisingly tasty both in texture & consistency . Being more natural ingredients seem to digest easier.Goes Well With:Only just arrived but will carry in the car as I am on the road a lot along with protein shakes
I love its taste, flavour and ingredients. No overpowering sweetness like in its many other competitors. One of my favourite now.
Great bars useful as a healthy snack or for increasing your protein intake. Subtle tasting and nice texture too. Also, they're not lying about the 7g of fibre per bar either...Goes Well With:Cup of tea/coffee
Not the best tasting bar but it's what you would expect and by no means the worst. May not have the protein content of many other bars, however the macros are nicely balanced and has a great kick of fiber to keep you fuller. Personally I grab this with a banana for breakfast if I'm in a hurry or just eat as as snack.
It's not easy getting a vegan protein bar that actually tastes nice and whilst I understand that hemp protein might not be to everyone's taste, I'm quite surprised by the negative reviews. I absolutely love these bars, they're fruity, with a hint of cinnamon which makes a nice change to all the chocolate ones around. I mainly use them as a quick snack after a workout (with a banana or the vegan blend) or as a pick me up when I have an afternoon slump! If you're looking for a healthier, vegan option with a nice fruity flavour, definitely give these a go!Goes Well With:Banana, vegan blend chocolate shake (after workout) Cup of tea in the afternoon :)
