The title of World’s Strongest Man is highly coveted, but only claimed by the most elite strongmen. Eddie Hall took the crown back in 2017, and 27-year-old Scottish lad Tom Stoltman has now entered the top tier of competitors by lifting the 2021 title. ‘The Beast’ was even on hand to help ‘The Albatross’ celebrate.
25 of the world’s elite strongmen descended upon Sacramento, California, and were put through their paces with a series of 12 events over five days.
Tom, standing at 6’8” and weighing in at 397lbs, finished second in 2020, but on his fourth appearance at the event he reached the summit.
Aside from ‘The Albatross’, Tom is also known as ‘The King of Stones’. So, it’s no wonder that it was by loading all five Atlas Stones onto their podiums, ranging from 140 to 210kgs, that Tom’s dominance in 2021 was confirmed and his victory, won.If loading the massive stones didn’t sound hard enough, bear in mind competitors had undertaken the Log Lift and Knaack Deadlift earlier that day. Oh, and the Loading Medley, Squat Lift, Deadlift, Fingal’s Fingers, Train Pull, Overhead Medley, Pickaxe Hold, Stone Off, Giant’s Medley, Titan’s Turntable, and Reign Keg Toss over the four days before Finals Day Two.The moment Tom made history...Tom made history with older brother, and Scotland’s five-time Strongest Man, Luke as the only brothers to reach the WSM finals, and his name continues to be written into the history books. He’s the first competitor with autism to snatch the WSM title, the first Scotsman to win it, and if that wasn’t enough Tom also set the record for the biggest lead after 2 events, boasting seven points on the closest competition at that stage.Congratulations Tom on a monumental victory, we can’t wait to see what’s next. We’ll be fuelling you all the way!The moment @stoltman_tom realized he is the World’s Strongest Man 🏆 pic.twitter.com/M1CuEKs1BL
