Firstly, I am severely lactose intolerant and this means I'm limited to what protein I can have, so I thought that I'd be stuck with really gross options. I've tried so many, and was suffering (in silence) about how disgusting they were. Then I found MyProtein after some searching and took a risk by trying the Smooth Chocolate and Strawberry Cream. O M G! I have double scoops for meal replacement and protein loading for circuits, dancing, PiYo, ChaLean Extreme, P90X and weight management. Two scoops is the important bit for me because most protein doesn't mix well, even with a blender. I load my shaker, then with very low expectancies give it a thoroughly good mixing testing with the Chocolate first...it mixed, and no blender! Next came the taste...it was good! And I mean, really good, definite chocolate tastes, nutty aroma, went down really easily sipping it, no nasty after-taste either! The next day, I had a chocolate one in the blender, fantastic. Really smooth and creamy, take care with the amount of milk (I use Lactofree blue), not enough and it's not nice, but get your amount right, memorise it and keep to it. I eat a main meal at lunchtime, then in the evening I tried out the Strawberry Cream, used a shaker, mixed two scoops and O M G! It's even nicer than the Chocolate Smooth!!! How is this possible? Now, I mix one scoop of Strawberry with one Scoop of Chocolate for ultimate NOMZ!! The protein content is high, not as high as the unflavoured but I don't want to have to add fruit to make it taste nice, it would defeat the object of low carb and high protein. For anyone with a need to have Soya protein, this is the nicest I have ever tasted and I've already ordered my second set! Mix with shakers or blenders, add in fruit, I'd say blueberries, put in in cake mix for protein sponges, Lactofree milk, Soya milk, and Almond milk.
I've used this product for several years now and am highly satisfied. It is easy to digest and a truly excellent source of protein in my diet - which as an 80 year-old vegetarian - is of great importance to me! It is always delivered quickly and in good packaging.
Bought this for it's higher protein content. Found mixing the powder with a small amount of liquid first and letting it settle slighty before adding the rest of the liquid worked well. Combining it all together at once resulted in some horrendous lumpy and ridiculously frothy mess. I add coffee to mine, which helps make it more palatable.
I decided to buy this as Whey protein results in acne for me and I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised. The Strawberry Cream tastes great, I find the Vanilla has a slightly bitter aftertaste as a shake, but works well mixed in porridge or a pancake batter. The down sides? It doesn't mix as well as the Whey powders, but pop it in a shaker and it's fine and I would say add more liquid as it has a much thicker consistency. As for gains, it's too early to give a review but I will definitely be purchasing this product again.
I have bought about three batches of unflavoured spaced about 4 months in between, and I would say that the mixability went from medium-to poor-to good. I was told by the sales guy that it depends on the source of the protein. I had to use a blender to mix the powder in. Anyway the soya taste does not bother me. For effectiveness, I would say my gains were better than when I used whey -- apparently I am lactose intolerant.
Great as always! I always buy this protein powder, I love it and take it 3 times a day plus! I have it with oats for breakfast, with milk as a mid morning shake, before a workout I take it with powdered oats and milk with coffee as a flavouring and after a workout something similar, it's really good and I highly recommend it!Goes Well With:Milk, porridge, oat powder and as a protein bar mix!
Tastes nice, mixes well with soya or coconut milk. With almond it becomes so thick you need a spoon to eat it. Would highly recommend
I bought these products the other day as I have trouble with milk. I bought 1kg of Strawberry and 1kg choc smooth. The chocolate is ok, I have it mixed with 400ml water as it was way too thick with the recommended ammount, and I also blend in a banana to help with the taste. It tastes find when blended. The strawberry has been not so great to me. When you mix in a shaker it goes to half foam, half drink... I'm not sure why, and it makes is hard to drink, and the texture and flavour is not great. I think I'll stick to the chocolate when I've run out this time. Its good for the money and for the dietary requirements I have.Goes Well With:Rice milk, Water with banana.
Strawberry cream wasn't in stock so thought I'd try vanilla! URGH. Ordered strawberry back! Otherwise, this product is excellent! I'm lactose intolerant so have to have this alternative, but soya is a deemed a complete protein so it's all good! Please fully stock for strawberry cream! :) thanks Goes Well With:Strawberry cream- frozen berries and milk ( blended)
Struggled with a dairy allergy/intolerance for years. Find the higher grade protein brands and those that claim to be lactose better for my stomach and breathing problems, but always affect me. Thought I'd give this a try, wasn't sure what to expect. Tastes great, mixes well. Only downside I've found is its a little foamy and takes quite a while to settle down. Would like to see the product available in a larger quantity as well.
I usually buy unflavored whey based protein and can drink most without issue. The unflavored Soy based protein tastes awful. The mixture is also very very thick and gloopy. Would not recommend over whey unless you have an intolerance. Thinking about how to flavor this or use in cooking only - pancakes... protein bars etc.
Bought this after discovering that I was sensitive to whey protein and really wasn't sure what to expect. Picked the vanilla flavour after a lot of umming and aaahing and I'm really glad I did! It makes far better protein pancakes than any whey powders that I've used before, they have a much better texture when cooked. I've also used to to make a few other sweet recipes and I'm really pleased with how they've turned out. As some other reviewers mention I do find that it's on the thick side, but mixed up in a shake with plenty of water it was great. The first time I didn't use enough water and it was very similar to angel delight... Certainly won't find me complaining about that! Haven't used it in a smoothie yet as I'm watching the carbs at the moment but I imagine it would be really good blended with banana. Definitely worth trying if you're looking for a non-dairy whey alternative.
Long-time customer. This is the first time I have been disappointed. This stuff does not mix at all. I normally add water a little at a time and create a smooth paste before adding more. In this case, it is futile. The powder just clots up completely. I am sure the nutritional value is all there but still... I expect better.
I found this to be excellent, arrived on saturday. At first I found it hard to mix (because I wasn't shaking my shaker hard enough). Once shaken with two hands and adding water/milk bit by bit I found it to be like the normal Milk protein. The taste isn't excellent but I do this for my body. I've seen a significant change in my body in just over 3days of having this. (Or maybe that's because I am still young with a fast metabolism). But I wear shirts to work everyday and my colleagues are complimenting me on how I look already. Started the gym on Friday, protein arrived Saturday morning went to the gym. Been taking my daily amount ever since. I could write about how excellent this Soy whey powder is forever. DEFINITELY A MUST BUY. Eat correct and you WILL see progress with this just for the fact I think it's thick and has more protein the Diary protein. Arms are near solid (but not big how I want them to be just yet due to just starting the gym) & (Chest is looking healthy in a shirt and even under my big winter puffer jacket) AMAZING.Goes Well With:Water / Almond Milk / Banana Smoothie
I've yet to try the flavoured varieties due to the increased cost, but I generally go through a 2.5kg unflavoured bag in around a fortnight as I use this along with instant oats and flax seed powder as a cheap vegan meal replacement and I feel fine. The downside being it doesn't taste all that good and it occasionally comes with contamination of bits of brown paper or plastic strapping fibres and when it does I feel quite ill.
I was diagnosed as being dairy intolerant when I was 21 so whey protein was ruled out straight away. Furthermore, since that initial diagnosis I switched to a vegan diet; this isolate is an excellent alternative to the ever popular (and indigestible for myself!) whey protein. I have been using the unflavoured powder for the last month or so but gains are noticeable and have been monitored with body mass composition equipment to give concrete evidence of my progression. Does it taste great? No, not really. However, if you're used to consuming unsweetened soya milk, you already know that it is difficult to enjoy. I only use water to mix this isolate and have found that using approximately 300-400ml shaken in a mixer produces a creamy and thick - but very drinkable shake. It mixes reasonably well, though occasionally it will cling to the sides of my shaker if I put the soya protein in first. For this reason, I fill the bottle with water first before adding the powder and add additional water if it is too viscous once shaken. I can not comment for the 1kg pack, but to the 2.5kg amount comes with a large scoop which I found, much like a toy in a cereal box, hidden halfway through the bag. Overall I'd highly recommend this product for anyone who is dairy-intolerant or has an allergy as well as people who have a vegan diet. Goes Well With:Water.
Makes amazing protein bars and pancakes, def recommend!
I've tried a couple of soy protein isolate from different companies, but Myprotein.com have the best! As always with an unflavored batch, it has that initial 'feels like my gag reflex has been triggered'- but with their batch, it's just a one-off! What I like about it, is that it has an ever so slightly grainy texture, but goes down smoothly. It thickens up like casein, if left for a minute or two and doesn't have much excess foamage! I guess the only downside I'd have with this, is that it doesn't mix well if you use a spoon or fork. It needs to be shaken, not stirred (haha)! It's a perfect product for a pre/post workout (I prefer it for a pre workout), for weights or cardio, however intensive it maybe. Just have a lot of energy and focus when it kicks in.. I highly recomend this!Goes Well With:Impact Whey Isolate or Micellar Casein..
I have been using the pea protein and soy protein for a number of years now. As a vegan I was finding it difficult to eat enough protein to build muscle without also eating massive amounts of carbs so I started with the pea and soy powders. I blend it with squash and a banana in the morning and shake it up with some squash after a workout - the banana definitely improves it but hey, I'm not drinking it for the taste. I also tried the other vegan proteins, but for me the price and taste/mix-ability of the pea and soy powders make them my favourites. I guess it has been effective as I'm stronger now than I have ever been - which is good.Goes Well With:Orange and mango squash for taste and a banana to give a smooth texture
This is a great value, clean, uncomplicated protein powder. I normally go for the kind of flavoured whey/casein blends that can be bought cheaply in bulk. Too much of these powders has not been great for the digestion and so I figured going for some experimentation. Years ago I used another soy powder which did the job fine and was again fairly inexpensive. This stuff is better. It lacks the grittiness that I have found with other soy protein powders and has a pleasant creamy consistency with a light unoffensive taste. It readily can be blended with other powders to make them go further and get the health benefits of soy. Basically it takes on the flavour of what you mix it with. Banana, some quick oats and a squeeze of honey goes down a treat.
Being Lactose intolerant I have tried soy protein before and it was vile, like drinking wallpaper paste, however this chocolate soy protein taste's a whole lot better than expected and mixes well to make a protein shake or a yummy 'mousse' type pudding mixed with a little bit of cinnamon.Goes Well With:Lactose free milk or almond milk and cinnamon
I've tried numerous soya protein powders and this one is by far the best. I've only tried chocolate so far, no dodgy aftertaste and the powder mixes really well. I use 200ml of unsweetened almond milk and 200ml of water in my shaker and this makes a lovely smooth shake with no lumps. I've just ordered the strawberry flavor, hopefully it wont disappoint!
As a vegetarian who is also slightly lactose intolerant I was desperate for a protien shake that was dairy free, full of protien, maximises the effects of my workouts and tastes great! this protien mix is absolutely amazing and has made my workouts so much more effective. I have more energy and feel a lot stronger, not only does it have great effects on your body/mind but it tastes great and is a great value for money. Goes Well With:Water/almond milk.
I first bought de whey isolate on MP taste chocolate and it was really good! Taste, mixability and easy to drink, i even liked it! But this one. The Soy prot isolate is completely awfull. Its thick, tastes bad (vanilla), hard to mix(had to mix it carefully with a spoon to avoid having it bubbled. Even worse to drink). I dont know why your Soy prots are SO bad, but please do something.Goes Well With:Easier to mix with water than milk. But still, not smooth at all
Unimaginably vile. Those with any type of dietary requirement that involves avoiding dairy...god have mercy on your souls. Dont believe the other reviews of this substance...its pig vomet
I was introduced to soy protein isolate via a fitness club who sold it to me as part of my programme. Buying the same stuff from MyProtein is truly cost effective. Saved over 70% - not bad. However the flavoured versions are not so cheap but still cheaper. I like to make my protein into hot drinks and if I make a paste first with cold water I can use a blender to get the consistency I want. Usually I make coffee or mochas. I'm losing weight and getting fitter what more could a woman want!Goes Well With:Coffee and cocoa
Have had issues in the past with any whey protein as it upset my stomach and made me trump. Changed to soy protein and never looked back, massive improvements in mass compared to whey also.Goes Well With:Soy milk Water
Super tasty especially if you add a frozen banana and melon and sick it in the blender with almond milk. Goes Well With:Banana, melon, berries, almond milk
I bought this product as the whey protein makes me feel sick and as others have put it. 'Gives me the runs'. However, that was nothing compared to the reaction I had with this product. Although I didn't feel sick, my body rejected this with a vegence which I can only compare to the aftermath of having a vindaloo. It may work for others but I won't be taking this product again.
So everything kills my guts, soy doesn't. I follow a low FODMAP diet so finding things that don't affect me is difficult and I've tried ALL protein powders. This by far is the nicest soy protein powder I have tried. I ordered all three flavours and they are great. Mixability is perfect for me But I always use a blender and I prefer my shakes to be quite thick. This I have tended to have as a sort of mouse style pudding. For a drinkable shake you need a lot of water so always add more than you think. I also like that is quite thick as it tends to fill me up a lot more. I will definitley be buying this protein powder again and my protein has been one of the best companies I have used.Goes Well With:Water or vegan milks sometimes a combination of water and ice for an 'ice cream'
I am allergic to dairy so cannot consume whey. I have used Soy protein on and off for some time now. I have always used MyProtein and bought a mix of flavours as would put a little in smoothies, pancakes etc rather than just having as a shake. However the last couple of batches resulted in a slightly dodgy tummy - whenever consuming it in any form, be it cooked or as a straight shake I would suffer stomach cramps, bloating and an unsettled stomach. I have now switched to the vegan blend which hopefully will be okay! I am really disappointed as I had several flavours including unflavoured and had no problems.
This item is very good, I have used it for the last 7 days, I haven't done a huge amount of exercise as of yet but I am starting to see a bit of a difference, I recover a lot quicker and feel better in myself. I am looking forward to the summer of exercise and development to see how my body changes. Good product.
The first time I used this I was a bit surprised at how thick it ended up, it was so thick it wasn't enjoyable to drink, however if you bare with it and find the right mix of ingredients it can work for you. I start with ~250ml of milk/almond milk in a shaker, then add a scoop of powder. At this point I swirl the shaker to try and get the powder wet (this stops it sticking to the rest of the shaker later). I then add another ~250ml of water and then shake for 30s. The water seems to thin the shake down to a good consistency for me. I use the vanilla flavoured one and the flavour doesn't really come through, but it doesn't taste bad, kind of like unsweetened readybrek/porridge. If I'm having this after dinner I may add a spoon of honey to make it a bit sweet which works well.Goes Well With:Milk/almond milk +water Honey
I haven't used protein before so I am not sure what to expect plus I haven't seen a change in me for the results. It does make you bloated and the strawberry flavor is ok however it could be stronger. It's not the worst thing to drink however I haven't tried any other protein before so I can't compare. Goes Well With:Water
Get ready to gag if you try and taste this thing. Mixes fantastic and does certainly not bloat me as much as whey, however the taste is thick and plain. Chocolate flavour is pretty minimal. Goes Well With:Maybe milk?
I have suffered from a torn rota cuff and used to train triathlon for 20 years until the injury. I thought that because the body muscles and bones need protein to grow, maybe, just maybe this would work. I used it morning, before running, sit ups, leg press and skipping and after training and before bed (2 hours). My rota cuff is 99% mended and I am now doing light curls, lat pull downs and tri dips, things I could never do because of my shoulder. My injury was a pain (real pain) for over 9 months and within 5 weeks i am nearly mended. I really think this protein has made a difference. its also enhanced my abbs, and I feel alive. Im 47 young and ready to train, train and train. I bought the natural unflavoured one and love it, especially with really cold water. What more can I say. Oh yea the chocolate clusters are also yummy, yummy and great for a long bike ride. See ya!
I usually buy this from bulkpowders but since I prefer myprotein flavour drops I decided to order it all from here, this product is great value for money however it does not mix as well as bulkpowders and tastes very unsmooth and lumpy, would probably be okay in one of those blender bottle thingsGoes Well With:Flavour drops - mocha is the best one
Had problems over the years with whey and changing to soy has made a huge difference and got some good gains in strength, overall my general digestion has improved dramatically after switching. Tastes nasty but I mix it with a scoop instant oats chocolate which helps.Goes Well With:Instant oats chocolate and water
Due to my lactose intolerance, I was looking for some soy substitutes and went for chocolate and strawberry as they had been reviewed especially positive. I love both: they mix well in the myprotein shaker, taste good and also fill well. Lately, I have also ordered vanilla and I have to say I like the taste but its less of a vanilla taste than rice pudding, which is fine by me. Will definitely order again! Two out of the three bags I got also contained their own scoop which is handy.
I definitely don't like this product I've tried mixing smaller portions, more liquid, adding fruit or adding with flavoured shakes and its made me so sick! I thought it was a one off but no!!! No matter what I try it tastes like I'm drinking paste..... I can blend it, shake, stir but still tastes grainy really not impressed!!! Goes Well With:Nothing!!!!!
I am allergic to whey and dairy products as it causes painful hormonal acne on my jawline so I was looking for a great tasting non dairy protein and came across this website. I bought chocolate and vanilla. The chocolate mixes really well with water and actually tastes quite nice compared to other proteins I've mixed with water. The vanilla doesn't mix we'll with water and doesn't taste that great. However when mixed with coconut milk it tastes really nice. The chocolate mixes well with both water or coconut milk.Goes Well With:Coconut milk....
The unflavoured stuff doesn't taste great. But then it's not supposed to. Mix it with nesquick and its fine. Great value. And perfect for me as I'm lactose intolerant and EVERY other product makes me seriously ill Goes Well With:Nesquick.
Does the job - tastes good and certainly helps with recovery
After finding that Whey protein and most dairy products was causing my skin to break out I decided to eliminate dairy from my diet as much as possible and therefore decided to turn to soy, including soy protein. I ordered the chocolate flavour to begin with which I have to admit, although not great, it is not the worst taste and perfectly drinkable. As others have already stated, it is a rather thick consistency when compared with whey. I then decided to order the vanilla protein as I figured it would be nice to have with some instant coffee whilst at work. Was I wrong! If you opt for this protein I would happily recommend the chocolate flavour but stay away from the vanilla! Goes Well With:Protein pancakes!!
Firstly, i must say that I did not buy this product because i am a vegan, but rather as a more digestible alternative to whey, which my stomach doesn't seem to do so well with. The first thing you notice about this product is how thick the shake is when using the suggested amount of water. It has been described elsewhere as 'puddingy' but i think that suggests that it might have a pleasant taste! To even be a thick shake, it needs at least 600ml per scoop. I purchased the chocolate flavour as its usually a safe bet for me. The flavour is not usually something that bothers me much, and myprotein chocolate flavoured impact whey, impact whey isolate, casein, even the slightly different tasting vegan blend, all tasted fine to me. The chocolate flavour soy protein isolate however tastes pretty terrible. It doesn't do a great job of hiding the inherent flavour, or is just generally not very chocolaty. The texture and mix-ability of this protein is by far its worst characteristic. The gloopiness of the shake makes it really difficult to choke down. I regret ignoring the small number of bad reviews for this product and going with the majority, but if taste texture or mix-ability bother you at all, then look elsewhere. I can't really comment on the effectiveness of the protein on the body as i have struggled to choke it down enough times that i could actually measure a difference. I really hope that i just got a bad batch... Goes Well With:...
I bought this product. It doenst mix, it gets so thick and hard. You probably need one scoop in 500ml of water to be able to drink. It's high in protein don't take me wrong. ,The only problem is: it doesn't mix in small quantaty of water. You will need a half scoop for protein shaker size. Goes Well With:Smoothie
I always mix shakes with skimmed milk. To make this mix I found one scoop needed 400ml of milk and a long shake. After shaking it foams up and fills my whole shaker with foam. Even after a long shake it isn't well mixed, leaving loads of lumps and bits which is pretty horrible to drink. Avoid!
I purchased this soya protein to help aid recovery from cycling and running. Seems to help with that. Mixes fine if you use a whisk and taste is not too bad. Has added benefit of not giving me wind which whey protein always caused!! Goes Well With:Strawberry goes well with berry smoothies, vanilla nice with spoonful of coffee or chocolate
I've been ordering this protein for over a year now and it's great! I ache less after training when having one of these a day (making up the rest of my protein through eggs, nuts etc) plus it's an easy way of getting my daily intake! Only downside is every flavour apart from the strawberry cream is disgusting-could just be my opinion Goes Well With:Blended with milk and chilled
Love this stuff. Really helping me on my weight loss journey. And this stuff tastes great! Goes Well With:Skimmed or almond milk.
