Firstly, I am severely lactose intolerant and this means I'm limited to what protein I can have, so I thought that I'd be stuck with really gross options. I've tried so many, and was suffering (in silence) about how disgusting they were. Then I found MyProtein after some searching and took a risk by trying the Smooth Chocolate and Strawberry Cream. O M G! I have double scoops for meal replacement and protein loading for circuits, dancing, PiYo, ChaLean Extreme, P90X and weight management. Two scoops is the important bit for me because most protein doesn't mix well, even with a blender. I load my shaker, then with very low expectancies give it a thoroughly good mixing testing with the Chocolate first...it mixed, and no blender! Next came the taste...it was good! And I mean, really good, definite chocolate tastes, nutty aroma, went down really easily sipping it, no nasty after-taste either! The next day, I had a chocolate one in the blender, fantastic. Really smooth and creamy, take care with the amount of milk (I use Lactofree blue), not enough and it's not nice, but get your amount right, memorise it and keep to it. I eat a main meal at lunchtime, then in the evening I tried out the Strawberry Cream, used a shaker, mixed two scoops and O M G! It's even nicer than the Chocolate Smooth!!! How is this possible? Now, I mix one scoop of Strawberry with one Scoop of Chocolate for ultimate NOMZ!! The protein content is high, not as high as the unflavoured but I don't want to have to add fruit to make it taste nice, it would defeat the object of low carb and high protein. For anyone with a need to have Soya protein, this is the nicest I have ever tasted and I've already ordered my second set! Mix with shakers or blenders, add in fruit, I'd say blueberries, put in in cake mix for protein sponges, Lactofree milk, Soya milk, and Almond milk.
I've used this product for several years now and am highly satisfied. It is easy to digest and a truly excellent source of protein in my diet - which as an 80 year-old vegetarian - is of great importance to me! It is always delivered quickly and in good packaging.
Bought this for it's higher protein content. Found mixing the powder with a small amount of liquid first and letting it settle slighty before adding the rest of the liquid worked well. Combining it all together at once resulted in some horrendous lumpy and ridiculously frothy mess. I add coffee to mine, which helps make it more palatable.
I decided to buy this as Whey protein results in acne for me and I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised. The Strawberry Cream tastes great, I find the Vanilla has a slightly bitter aftertaste as a shake, but works well mixed in porridge or a pancake batter. The down sides? It doesn't mix as well as the Whey powders, but pop it in a shaker and it's fine and I would say add more liquid as it has a much thicker consistency. As for gains, it's too early to give a review but I will definitely be purchasing this product again.
I have bought about three batches of unflavoured spaced about 4 months in between, and I would say that the mixability went from medium-to poor-to good. I was told by the sales guy that it depends on the source of the protein. I had to use a blender to mix the powder in. Anyway the soya taste does not bother me. For effectiveness, I would say my gains were better than when I used whey -- apparently I am lactose intolerant.
Great as always! I always buy this protein powder, I love it and take it 3 times a day plus! I have it with oats for breakfast, with milk as a mid morning shake, before a workout I take it with powdered oats and milk with coffee as a flavouring and after a workout something similar, it's really good and I highly recommend it!Goes Well With:Milk, porridge, oat powder and as a protein bar mix!
Tastes nice, mixes well with soya or coconut milk. With almond it becomes so thick you need a spoon to eat it. Would highly recommend
I bought these products the other day as I have trouble with milk. I bought 1kg of Strawberry and 1kg choc smooth. The chocolate is ok, I have it mixed with 400ml water as it was way too thick with the recommended ammount, and I also blend in a banana to help with the taste. It tastes find when blended. The strawberry has been not so great to me. When you mix in a shaker it goes to half foam, half drink... I'm not sure why, and it makes is hard to drink, and the texture and flavour is not great. I think I'll stick to the chocolate when I've run out this time. Its good for the money and for the dietary requirements I have.Goes Well With:Rice milk, Water with banana.
Strawberry cream wasn't in stock so thought I'd try vanilla! URGH. Ordered strawberry back! Otherwise, this product is excellent! I'm lactose intolerant so have to have this alternative, but soya is a deemed a complete protein so it's all good! Please fully stock for strawberry cream! :) thanks Goes Well With:Strawberry cream- frozen berries and milk ( blended)
Struggled with a dairy allergy/intolerance for years. Find the higher grade protein brands and those that claim to be lactose better for my stomach and breathing problems, but always affect me. Thought I'd give this a try, wasn't sure what to expect. Tastes great, mixes well. Only downside I've found is its a little foamy and takes quite a while to settle down. Would like to see the product available in a larger quantity as well.
Long-time customer. This is the first time I have been disappointed. This stuff does not mix at all. I normally add water a little at a time and create a smooth paste before adding more. In this case, it is futile. The powder just clots up completely. I am sure the nutritional value is all there but still... I expect better.
I found this to be excellent, arrived on saturday. At first I found it hard to mix (because I wasn't shaking my shaker hard enough). Once shaken with two hands and adding water/milk bit by bit I found it to be like the normal Milk protein. The taste isn't excellent but I do this for my body. I've seen a significant change in my body in just over 3days of having this. (Or maybe that's because I am still young with a fast metabolism). But I wear shirts to work everyday and my colleagues are complimenting me on how I look already. Started the gym on Friday, protein arrived Saturday morning went to the gym. Been taking my daily amount ever since. I could write about how excellent this Soy whey powder is forever. DEFINITELY A MUST BUY. Eat correct and you WILL see progress with this just for the fact I think it's thick and has more protein the Diary protein. Arms are near solid (but not big how I want them to be just yet due to just starting the gym) & (Chest is looking healthy in a shirt and even under my big winter puffer jacket) AMAZING.Goes Well With:Water / Almond Milk / Banana Smoothie
I've yet to try the flavoured varieties due to the increased cost, but I generally go through a 2.5kg unflavoured bag in around a fortnight as I use this along with instant oats and flax seed powder as a cheap vegan meal replacement and I feel fine. The downside being it doesn't taste all that good and it occasionally comes with contamination of bits of brown paper or plastic strapping fibres and when it does I feel quite ill.
I was diagnosed as being dairy intolerant when I was 21 so whey protein was ruled out straight away. Furthermore, since that initial diagnosis I switched to a vegan diet; this isolate is an excellent alternative to the ever popular (and indigestible for myself!) whey protein. I have been using the unflavoured powder for the last month or so but gains are noticeable and have been monitored with body mass composition equipment to give concrete evidence of my progression. Does it taste great? No, not really. However, if you're used to consuming unsweetened soya milk, you already know that it is difficult to enjoy. I only use water to mix this isolate and have found that using approximately 300-400ml shaken in a mixer produces a creamy and thick - but very drinkable shake. It mixes reasonably well, though occasionally it will cling to the sides of my shaker if I put the soya protein in first. For this reason, I fill the bottle with water first before adding the powder and add additional water if it is too viscous once shaken. I can not comment for the 1kg pack, but to the 2.5kg amount comes with a large scoop which I found, much like a toy in a cereal box, hidden halfway through the bag. Overall I'd highly recommend this product for anyone who is dairy-intolerant or has an allergy as well as people who have a vegan diet. Goes Well With:Water.
Makes amazing protein bars and pancakes, def recommend!
I've tried a couple of soy protein isolate from different companies, but Myprotein.com have the best! As always with an unflavored batch, it has that initial 'feels like my gag reflex has been triggered'- but with their batch, it's just a one-off! What I like about it, is that it has an ever so slightly grainy texture, but goes down smoothly. It thickens up like casein, if left for a minute or two and doesn't have much excess foamage! I guess the only downside I'd have with this, is that it doesn't mix well if you use a spoon or fork. It needs to be shaken, not stirred (haha)! It's a perfect product for a pre/post workout (I prefer it for a pre workout), for weights or cardio, however intensive it maybe. Just have a lot of energy and focus when it kicks in.. I highly recomend this!Goes Well With:Impact Whey Isolate or Micellar Casein..
I have been using the pea protein and soy protein for a number of years now. As a vegan I was finding it difficult to eat enough protein to build muscle without also eating massive amounts of carbs so I started with the pea and soy powders. I blend it with squash and a banana in the morning and shake it up with some squash after a workout - the banana definitely improves it but hey, I'm not drinking it for the taste. I also tried the other vegan proteins, but for me the price and taste/mix-ability of the pea and soy powders make them my favourites. I guess it has been effective as I'm stronger now than I have ever been - which is good.Goes Well With:Orange and mango squash for taste and a banana to give a smooth texture
Firstly, i must say that I did not buy this product because i am a vegan, but rather as a more digestible alternative to whey, which my stomach doesn't seem to do so well with. The first thing you notice about this product is how thick the shake is when using the suggested amount of water. It has been described elsewhere as 'puddingy' but i think that suggests that it might have a pleasant taste! To even be a thick shake, it needs at least 600ml per scoop. I purchased the chocolate flavour as its usually a safe bet for me. The flavour is not usually something that bothers me much, and myprotein chocolate flavoured impact whey, impact whey isolate, casein, even the slightly different tasting vegan blend, all tasted fine to me. The chocolate flavour soy protein isolate however tastes pretty terrible. It doesn't do a great job of hiding the inherent flavour, or is just generally not very chocolaty. The texture and mix-ability of this protein is by far its worst characteristic. The gloopiness of the shake makes it really difficult to choke down. I regret ignoring the small number of bad reviews for this product and going with the majority, but if taste texture or mix-ability bother you at all, then look elsewhere. I can't really comment on the effectiveness of the protein on the body as i have struggled to choke it down enough times that i could actually measure a difference. I really hope that i just got a bad batch... Goes Well With:...
I bought this product. It doenst mix, it gets so thick and hard. You probably need one scoop in 500ml of water to be able to drink. It's high in protein don't take me wrong. ,The only problem is: it doesn't mix in small quantaty of water. You will need a half scoop for protein shaker size. Goes Well With:Smoothie
I always mix shakes with skimmed milk. To make this mix I found one scoop needed 400ml of milk and a long shake. After shaking it foams up and fills my whole shaker with foam. Even after a long shake it isn't well mixed, leaving loads of lumps and bits which is pretty horrible to drink. Avoid!
I purchased this soya protein to help aid recovery from cycling and running. Seems to help with that. Mixes fine if you use a whisk and taste is not too bad. Has added benefit of not giving me wind which whey protein always caused!! Goes Well With:Strawberry goes well with berry smoothies, vanilla nice with spoonful of coffee or chocolate
I've been ordering this protein for over a year now and it's great! I ache less after training when having one of these a day (making up the rest of my protein through eggs, nuts etc) plus it's an easy way of getting my daily intake! Only downside is every flavour apart from the strawberry cream is disgusting-could just be my opinion Goes Well With:Blended with milk and chilled
Love this stuff. Really helping me on my weight loss journey. And this stuff tastes great! Goes Well With:Skimmed or almond milk.
I love this product, great for post work out and taste amazing aswell I have the strawberry and cream one!!
This is the worst protein I've used. I used it twice and couldn't even imagine a way I could continue as it tasted so bad. I bought two of these and they're already in the bin. I can't comment on how effective it was as I literally felt physically sick drinking it.
Upped my gym time and with cycle commute needed something to keep me going but am lactose intolerant so whey and milk was out the window. This does the job, mixes well - always milk first, tastes fine and even better with decent soya milk and some flav drops. Goes Well With:Soya milk toffee drops
I normally use the strawberry flavor of this but thought I would give the vanilla flavour a try and its great. I mix it with a banana and blend. Great for taking away any sweet craving and filling you up enough to wait for the next meal.
Bought this after discovering that I was sensitive to whey protein and really wasn't sure what to expect. Picked the vanilla flavour after a lot of umming and aaahing and I'm really glad I did! It makes far better protein pancakes than any whey powders that I've used before, they have a much better texture when cooked. I've also used to to make a few other sweet recipes and I'm really pleased with how they've turned out. As some other reviewers mention I do find that it's on the thick side, but mixed up in a shake with plenty of water it was great. The first time I didn't use enough water and it was very similar to angel delight... Certainly won't find me complaining about that! Haven't used it in a smoothie yet as I'm watching the carbs at the moment but I imagine it would be really good blended with banana. Definitely worth trying if you're looking for a non-dairy whey alternative.
The Soy Protein Shake has been brilliant. It is cheaper than other soy protein products from other outlets. The shake has a great taste and mixes well with soy milk or water, though taste better with soy milk. Having recently changing to a vegan diet it was an aspect that I was concerned about. This product fills the gap and provides as much protein as non vegan protein products. I liked it so much I have just ordered another 4 sachets. and trying different flavours for variety. Goes Well With:Strawberries, peanut butter, avacado, bananas
This is by far the best all round protein powder on the market, soy protein; naturally has higher levels of Arganine than any other protein source.
I've been using the unflavoured soya for a few years now to use in baking high protein cakes, waffles etc and it's definitely the best for that purpose. It doesn't have a strong taste and really bakes well. It can be used to create spongey cakes and doesn't ruin the flavour or texture. I've tried loads of other protein powders (whey and other vegan options) for this and this by far the best. HOWEVER, drinking this is a different story. I've been doing an elimination diet so needed a non whey powder and it's been a struggle. I just don't think any can compare to the consistency or taste of the whey powders. The My Protein ones are the best I've tried but they are far from being a pleasant experience. The unflavored is fine if you mix in a smoothie but that's not always an option time wise and sometimes I just want the protein without adding in the extra carbs from fruit. The strawberry cream is the only flavour I've tried and one scoop needs a lot of water to mix- about 500ml so it's a lot to drink. Which would be fine if I liked it but I don't. I find the strawberry isn't really strong enough to mask whatever else is going on. The consistency is ok if you get it really mixed which I think just takes a lot more liquid and shaking than I'd normally use with a powder but even then, there are bits which are jelly like and really not good. That said, I am drinking it daily which I couldn't do with some of the other ones I'd tried. Goes Well With:A lot of liquid. In a smoothie.Baking.
I bought this to add to smoothies however it doesn't mix very well, I think I will buy another protein and use this for cooking.
Having recently discovered I am lactose intolerant I searched the internet for an alternative protein drink. Found the My Protein website and after reading other reviews thought I'd give it a try especially as the price was very reasonable. I opted for the strawberry flavour as that is what I used to , and the soy protein from My Protein is far superior in quality, taste and cost to any of the other protein drinks I've had. The mix I found fine, yes it's thicker than the whey but that just means I can choose to drink it - found 300 ml water best , or if I wanted a protein "dessert" , mix with 200 ml water for a thicker consistancy - much like angel delight. I can highly recommend this product
Great taste, although you do need to remember to put in water before the powder as there is a gritty texture... it's ok if you do it right! Really tasty. Much better than i thought. Bought this due to the fact im fighting an eating disorder at the moment and needed more protein in my diet. I'm also vegan so you know!! I also don't feel bad about having this between meals to bring my calories up (and also add fruit from time to time)and have been doing some light strength training in order to tone as i gain. Really want to try the strawberry one next! It cam super quick, really happy with everything... really don't understand the negative comments about this product. Goes Well With:Bananas Frozen berries
I tried all taste except unflw. This Soy Protein are awesome! Excellent product in first time for it extra fine quality, for it taste and for it effectiveness. I am lactose intolerant and different sweeteners, so I have a very sensitive intestine. These proteins have proved perfect, they are lightweight and great mixability, I feel stronger and my muscles have grown to 1-2 inches in girth in only three weeks! I use it three times per day / 40grams each shake. 5 STARS. Goes Well With:Soy milk (shake); Other myprotein supplements: L-Glutammine L-Carnitine; Daily Vitamins; Omega balance
I've been using this soy protein for almost two years now, and only recently ordered a flavoured one. It took a while of experimenting with different ratios of protein to water/milk to get to the consistency that I found drinkable. Yes, the unflavoured doesn't taste great but if you're using it as a dietary supplement for recreation and training then bite the bullet. I like to drink it with ice so its supper chilled (taste buds are less sensitive so it tastes better) and with a tiny bit of xantham gum. This is usually used to bind liquids like sauces and salad dressings together, it's flavourless and makes the protein MUCH smoother and less gritty. Just be careful to use a TINY amount, too much and it has the consistency of snot! Last month the 1kg unflavoured was out of stock so I ventured into the unknown and ordered the Strawberry Cream for the first time. Mixed it with water like I did with the unflavoured... It smelled of cheap scented body wash and I felt I was drinking soap. Not ideal, it made me gag and in the end I poured half of the shake down the sink. But, since I paid for it I tried it again... This time half milk, half water and a thicker consistency - and it actually tasted okay! I'm definitely ordering again, although I prefer the unflavoured purely because of versatility as i like to add the protein to other food sometimes. Goes Well With:Unflavoured: in savoury soups like creamy mushroom or veg, porridge, hot chocolate Strawberry cream: porridge, protein pancakes
Really great product! Fast delivery, easy to use and mix and tastes pretty much like chocolate!
After searching for internet for hours looking for a new protein as I am lactose intolerant I came across My Protein which had some really good review so I thought I would give the Strawberry flavor a go and also the reason I decided to write a review today. Firstly the delivery was really speedy and I couldn't believe how much you got for your money worth every penny. I had been out at the gym when it arrived so I had a shake as soon as I got it made it with Soya milk in my shaker which mixed fine and it tasted so nice so much better from the other protein I had been taking. I actually now look forward to having a shake as its so tasty at the moment I have it before and after the gym and sometimes as a snack if I get hungry. It it better to mix half mixture and half milk and than add the remaining mixture and milk so it all mixes well and there is no power left in the bottle of your mixer. So happy with the product will be ordering again worth its money and tasty!!
After struggling with the dairg of protien shakes for years this has really been a great alternative ! Excellent value - no more allergic reaction :)Goes Well With:Coconut milk , rice , milk , in smoothies and cookies
I usually buy unflavoured soy protein as I don't mind the taste and is cheaper. This time I decided to get chocolate and tastes good. Unflavoured soy is quite difficult to mix, but flavoured seems a little easier. I have been using it to make soy peanut butter protein barsGoes Well With:any other supplement that you can mix it with
I'm wheat and lactose intolerant and have IBS and don't have any issues with digesting it. However it tastes disgusting, it mixes awfully, so bad you'll need about 750ml of water for it to mix well which takes the chocolate taste away. If you don't use as much water it goes very pudding gooey like which sounds great and it's nice at first but get sickly fast. Then to top things off, the resealable pouch wasn't resealable. It wouldn't close. Stronger advise not to buy this product.
The vanilla flavour of this is by far the best shake powder I've tried... not too sickly sweet and a decent texture. I mix this powder with a smaller amount of milk to make a sort of pudding... delicious! Recommended
I bought it unflavoured to mix it with other things like coffee, hot chocolate or with flav drops and the taste is good and love the thick consistence of the mix
I bought the vanilla, tastes nothing like the impact whey protein. The powder creates a lot of foam on top (Sign it is a bad powder), clumps at the bottom and tastes very fake. Only mixes well enough for water and not milk. Overall 1/10 would not buy again.
Great product, just what I've come to expect from myprotien (top quality and flavour). A WARNING you cannot use two scoopsin one shake (like I foolishly tried, I know, I should stick to the directions). Great thing is 2 scoops in 300ml gives you a protien pudding (just don't try and drink it). :-) Goes Well With:A lot of water for a shake, not a lot of water for a pudding.
Tastes really nice, better than the whey protein. Perfect for people with intolerances, as I'm gluten intolerant & a friend of mine who uses this is lactose intolerant. Only thing I would say is its best to mix up & drink straight away if not it goes super thick & hard to drink. But nice as desert that way! Goes Well With:Milk or water.
I bought the unflavored (2.5kg) and the only thing that I do not like is that I can only put one scoop in my shaker (700ml) at a time. The liquid becomes very thick If I put two scoops and becomes undrinkable. It is very well packaged and for its price is worth giving a try. I highly recommend buying the flavoured versions.
It has more protein than most other branded powders and has a good taste to it. I got the vanilla flavour blend and it's perfect. Goes Well With:I add it to rice milk, frozen fruit and a banana and it makes a great pre or post exceecise snack or for breakfast!
After having a really bad experience with whey protein I was a little nervous to buy more protein in case it had the same ill effects - it hasn't! Hooray! No bad and painful stomach bloating with this. It tastes good whilst drinking it, it does have a slightly bitter after taste but nothing to really complain about. It mostly mixes well with the odd lump. With almond milk it tastes lovely. Goes Well With:Almond milk.
I am wondering if this is a bad batch - same as the person below, this just does not mix. 250ml of water and it is pretty much still dry. 500ml and it is a paste. No chance of mixing this in a shaker. I had to use a blender.
