This product tastes rancid. The mild strawberry odour does nothing to take away the bitterness of this oil. I'm concerned as to the purity/freshness of this product given its repulsive taste. I am no expert, but I understand that bad tasting fish oils are a result of oxidation and as such actually have an inflammatory response in the body (one of the reasons you are likely to be taking the fish oil in the first place is to combat inflammation in the body, so it can have the opposite effect). I've had other fish oils with very short dates that taste far fresher than this even without flavouring, this has over a year on it (though once opened should be used in 3 months). I'm going to give it a go mixed with something....the dosage is high, so I'll see if I get any benefit from it for a few weeks.
I just opened the bottle and found an old measuring spoon that came with some calpol once, I poured myself out a 5ml dose. I brought my nose to the spoon and drew through my nose a volume of air and with that a feint odour of strawberry and something else. With my brain now suitably prepared for the taste of something and strawberry I popped that spoon right in my mouth... It turns out the strawberry odour plays a cruel trick on your brain, there's no strawberry taste, just fish, fish fish fish fish! Ok, so the taste does eventually go as the oil is removed from the inside of your mouth but don't burp now. Oh god don't burp! The strawberry odour has long since vanished, you won't be burping strawberries, no, you burp fish. Fish! I can't comment on whether it has done its job, only time will tell as to any noticeable changes however I would recommend mixing it for the simple fact you can't make it taste worse!Goes Well With:Probably anything really, it can't taste worse than consuming it on its own.
I was a happy and satisfied consumer of the liquid version of Fish oil for several years, prior to about the spring of 2014. The oil was the most cost-effective variant of intaking Omega 3 in high doses, and it rarely event went sour/rancid during the period of 2011-2014. In the spring/summer of 2014. I started getting allergic reactions to the oil which I had ascertained with nothing else changing in the majority of my diet, must have been the reason. Skin allergies which would take days to heal, and only return while starting on the fish oil again; and also I'd noticed that several bottles bought since: in the spring, summer and autumn of 2014. and later summer 2015. would grow rancid very easily even though they were always refrigerated and rarely opened more than once per day. Browsing through the comments, and some fellow Myprotein-ers locally, they're having the same experience with the oil getting rancid.
I bought the orange flavour and its more of a fragrance tbh. It doesnt have a strong orange flavour to it so you can have the recommended 5ml even whilst eating. 5ml is about a teaspoon. Great taste, no fishy smell at all. I actually wanted a bit of fishy smell to it so that I know Im taking in omega 3s. But i trust MyProtein in terms of the quality of their products so it cant be olive oil in a bottle. But definitely if you are worried about the taste - dont. Its very neutral with slight orange fragrance.Goes Well With:anything really. its just a great product for your overall health
Great product, really manageable way of getting the right amount of fish oil without having to eat 500 pills.Goes Well With:Not strawberry.
Great Orange Taste couldn't really taste or smell the fishy smell. Don't do gelatine / capsules so a great alternative.
Had inflammation over my skin for quite sometime, probably at least 6 months. Tried a few fish oil capsules but didn't exactly do the job. Doctor had prescribed me with Fucidin H cream but that neither did the job and he'd told me not to get to sweaty and stuff. Since I've started this overall all of the inflammation has calmed down massively and think its pretty much close to stopping! Not yet seen too much to do with weight increase or anything yet As for the taste, it doesn't taste like strawberry at all though it smells like it which isn't of any help. Best taken mixed with juice or plenty of honey or mixed into a mealGoes Well With:Honey, Fruit Juice, any meal
I am not a fan of fish so I lack omega 3 in my diet. I was told to take omega 3 supplements by my optician as I suffer from dry eye syndrome and being into lifting I heard it can also have other health benefits. After researching supplements, this seemed to be the highest strength I could find and at a great price. It did make me heave when I first started to take this oil as it does just taste like fish mixed with strawberry. I soon got used to it though and I take it morning and night with a nice tasting fruit juice to get rid of the taste. I've since ordered 3 more bottles and it does seem to improve my dry eyes!
Nice product, sine I do not like soft gels. The taste is ok-ish, but it has some aftertaste.
The taste (strawberry) is surprisingly palatable and easy to take.
Tastes extremely bitter with barely any hint of strawberry. But it's one of the best options as far as price per mg EPA and DHA and it mixes extremely well in milk (fat soluble) to the point it barely tastes of anything in a 500ml shake. But it mixes terribly on anything water based not milk. Aside from alternatives like Krill oil and Flaxseed (which doesn't compare..) this one's a no brainer.Goes Well With:Anything with milk, especially a shake
Going with my Precision Nutrition Qual, taking 1ml per BF% and it's going down well with my summer training!
I bought the Orange flavor because its on sale, the taste is absolutely alright, its nearly impossible to taste anything in a 5ml serving so i dont understand these reviews like "how much better the strawberry is".... much better value than the capsule version. 5/5Goes Well With:meals
Great product, have entered mixability as 3 as it's oil and so you can't expect it to mix well with things...! Taste isn't very strong (which is a good thing!!) And the nice smell makes it easy to take on its own or with fruit drinks etc. Have noticed a difference in appetite control, afternoon slump/energy levels and also in my skin/hair! So far so good, will keep going to see what else it can do!Goes Well With:Fruit Juice (cranberry!)
Great item, I use it all the time. Its good value and makes a difference to my joint pain.
prety good product and the taste is not fishy at all..realy liked the strawberry flavor !prety pleasand fragrance !
The taste is better than I thought and really quite palettable.Goes Well With:Protein shakes.
Would give five stars if it wasn't for the fact that the artificial flavour is so strong you can still taste it the next day. It also means the oil is unsuitable for mixing with food unless you want your meals to taste of strong artificial orange flavour. I still have a nearly full bottle of this horrendous stuff in the fridge because I just can't stand the flavour.
It's great for people who can't or have problems swallowing pills. Besides that, if you look at the EPA & DHA value in the 500ml bottle and compare it to other similar products you might notice it's also one of the best deals on the market.
I've done a fair bit of research on the best value-for-money fish oils and this one comes out on top last time I checked. If you want the highest amount of EPA and DHA per £ this is the product you need. Flavour-wise, well it tastes like fruity fish, so what do you expect? That said, it's easy to get down (I use an old Calpol syringe and shoot it down my neck quick) so job's a good'en!
The taste of Omega 3 Liquid is as good as fish oil could be (strawberry). I don't mind at all, feeling good overall, supple joints, excellent energy levels.
The Omega 3 Liquid is a high quality omega 3 fish oil. It's easy to consume, and high in EPA and DHA. It has a good flavour (orange), so consuming fish oil is now easy, fast and super without taste of real fish oil.Goes Well With:All MP products, milk protein smooth...
Omega 3 Liquid tastes ok, as long as you don't leave it lying around in the open for longer. I tried both the orange and strawberry flavour, personally, I much prefer the orange flavour.
Omega 3 Liquid is the best oil in the market... it has a high dosage of dha and epa. The strawberry flavour is much better than the orange one... I will keep on buying it.Goes Well With:healthy lifestyle
We should all take fish oil because it helps with our muscles and bones. You can taste that this Omega 3 Liquid has a orange flavour to it but it still doesn't disguise the taste of fish in my opinion! I have to take it quick with water and you cant mix it with anything as you can still taste it.
This Omega 3 Liquid has the best price ever! And the taste is not really bad. I will buy it again!
This stuff actually doesn't taste bad. It smells great but has a neutral taste. Far prefer this over downing a handful of capsules.
I have been using this for around two years and it is very good stuff. I tend to take a swig straight out of the bottle so not too scientific in terms of how much I'm getting but it's around 10ml each time, which makes the 500ml bottle last a fair while. Thus working out not too expensive. In terms of taste, I can stomach just about anything so it's not an issue for me, it tastes fine to me. However a month a so ago, MP were out of stock with the strawberry flavour so I ordered a couple of bottles of the orange flavour. Big mistake - it is vile. I'm still taking it and washing it down with plenty of water immediately afterwards but my strong recommendation is to go for the strawberry and avoid the orange at all costs.Goes Well With:Eat before meal
The fish oil I ordered came very quick amd does what it's ment to. Im happy with your services.
This Omega 3 Liquid is great - I've been taking 2 5ml spoonfuls a day. This is roughly the same amount of EPA/DHA I'd be getting from 10 capsules so overall this makes things much easier! Taste wise - I'm not going to lie to you - it's not the best. The strawberry flavour helps a huge amount (there's no way I can have the standard cod-liver oil so flavouring is the only option for me) but even with that I have to hold my nose to get it down, followed by a quick swig of some orange juice. Everyone's experience seems to differ depending on how well you can stomach the taste - I personally am a bit of a coward when it comes to bad tastes and even I can polish this stuff off! I would recommend this to anyone who is wanting to get more Omega 3 in their diet without the hassle of taking lots of capsules, or the rough taste of standard cod-liver oil. It's definitely a good buy and a product I will continue to use in the future.Goes Well With:Healthy living.
Strawberry flavour Omega 3 Liquid is never going to be "tasty", but this stuff is certainly manageable. It tastes decent enough that I don't shy away from licking the bottle clean when a little spills down the neck. When mixed in a shake it's unnoticeable, even at the top end of the recommended dose.Goes Well With:Anything (probably)
The taste of this Omega 3 Liquid isn't the best. I've been using it for 2 weeks and it seems to be working.
To be honest I thought this was going to taste really bad, but actually it's palatable and OK to digest (strawberry). It is fish oil though so it's not the greatest thing to consume and I still get the burps.
Most diets recommend Omega Oil in the morning and this fits the bill as a good quality product - compare the contents to medical to see this for yourself and also compare the contents to supermarket products to see what is missing in them. This is a great product at a great price. Taste is not great but I can get my wife and kids to take it daily so it is not that bad. Goes Well With:Take with breakfast
I found the orange flavour lovely making it easier to swallow. I will be buying this from now on. Goes Well With:On its own
The taste of the orange flavoured Omega 3 Liquid is terrible but the strawberry flavoured one is really nice. I can't believe the difference. I'm well impressed overall and have ordered more (strawberry).
Omega 3 Liquid tastes so bad, it's not MyProtein's fault though, it is after all fish oil! From that point of view, it's not as bad as it could be. Please dont mistake it for tasting nice though, it really does need a carrier for example, I drink some juice which minimises the taste issue. I recommend you take a full dose without a carrier to begin with so you know how much better with juice it is! On the plus side, and the reason we buy this, is that it's high in EPA/DHA 10x that of cod liver oil capsules, so, really, its the quickest way to get your daily dose. I'm currently having three teaspoons in the morning with breakfast, any more isn't economical for the pocket. Pick any flavour, it doesnt matter, it won't mask the taste, healthy pain is coming your way! I actually look forward to my dose now, as it's so good for you, your brain, joints, heart, blood, fat loss, energy, everything! Price is spot on. Endomorphs, you need this! Goes Well With:Strong flavoured juice and a meal.
The Omega 3 Liquid is effective but not tasty!
I used to take another omega3 (DHA from algae) which was very high quality, but the price of it forced me to be conservative with the amounts. I changed to this product for budget reasons and I indulged in taking plenty of it during the first few days (3 or 4 bottle caps a day, which is massive gram by gram). The results make me say this is my new most important supplement (followed by whey, followed by anything else). My mood is more "solid" and I am mentally sharper. I have clearly noticed symptoms of improved circulation, which I won't go into details but are quite pleasant nonetheless. I weigh 100kg plus, and I take 2 bottle caps a day of this currently (some days more). Remember that you need to be generous with the dosage. Incidentally, when I take it on an empty stomach several times (as I did the first few days) I have a strange "shaky" feeling afterwards, caffeine-like in a way, but I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
I bought some Omega 3 liquid orange flavour. I already take capsules and the good price on the liquid led me to buy some bottles. Nobody expects fish oil to taste pleasant, but the use of an orange flavouring turns a naturally unpleasant flavour into an unnaturally unpleasant one that is difficult to disguise. The smell is repulsive and the orange/oil aftertaste is vile. I'm not normally squeemish about food flavours, but I wish I'd gone for plain fish oil without flavouring. As it is, I can't use the oil in food to disguise it, it gives savoury food a horrible taste of unnatural orange. I tried a teaspoonful in strong red pesto and it ruined the meal, while giving me indigestion with a regular 'revisiting' of orange fish oil taste for about an hour after. I've bought 4 bottles, so I'm stuck with it and I grin and bear it, but whoever thought orange flavoured fish oil was a good idea has been proven completely wrong in my books. This review is not mean to undermine the value of fish oil or the effectiveness of the product. It's just almost unpalatable.
Omega 3 Liquid is a better alternative to Udos oil. Tastes ok to have on its own unlike Udos which I have to put in a shake. Great for muscle building and fat lossGoes Well With:CLA
The flavouring of this Omega 3 Liquid is too strong, I took this stuff yesterday and can still taste it today. Why not offer an unflavoured version so I can add it to my food without ruining the taste of it?
Omega 3 Liquid is real good stuff... and the price is perfectGoes Well With:Protein shakes
Bought the strawberry version of Omega 3 Liquid before and taste was acceptable but the orange flavour is horrid. I don't know if it was a bad batch but every time I swallow it, it is like drinking some strong proof alcoholic spirit with a bad taste. Apart from that, it provides good value for money.Goes Well With:water right after
We all know the importance of omega 3, 6 and 9 in our nutrition routines. Especially for us "active types". As Omega 3 needs to be the dominant Omega I normally use capsules to supplement my food sources. The ingredients and proportions of EPA and DHA looked good, so gave it a try to reduce the amount of capsules I am taking. Liquid is always going to be the preferred choice for omega 3 supplements and this product didn't disappoint. I would ignore any comments regarding poor taste for 2 reasons; it really does taste fine (strawberry actually tastes like strawberry) and as I am "results focused", taste is secondary to the value nutrition gives me. Omega 3 is not going to give you overnight results; it is something you need to take regularly over time. But too much research supports it to ignore. And that is for both health and performance! If you are training smart and hard, the correct amount of omega 3 needs to be one of your priorities! Goes Well With:I take it on an empty stomach before 3 of my meals.
This Omega 3 Liquid is great value. It's the cheapest I could find, and does the job.
This is a great product. I've been using it for just under a week. I am already seeing benefits. Being a boxer I have to use supplements that work, and work well. Which this product does. An old elbow injury started to service. So I started looking for a product to help my joints and general well being. This certainly is doing the trick. I got the 500ml strawberry flavour. The flavour is fine. Nice hint of strawberry when you first put it in your mouth. But who keeps this in there mouth for more than a few seconds? I take mine after eating breakfast before work in the morning and after my evening meal. I usually have a drink straight after, so can't comment on after taste. I did mix this with porridge one morning. It mixed fine. But I was not to keen on the taste with porridge.Goes Well With:MyProtein Alpha Men Super Multi Vitamin. My Protein Recovery Evo.
Bought the orange flavour but the taste is still horrendous. Not an issue of effectiveness because I wouldn't be able to stomach the taste. It's still sitting on a shelf, untouched since I first opened it for a try. Smells like orange as opposed to tasting like it. There's still this lingering fishy after-taste. Not my favourite product, I think I'll stick to omega 3/6/9s in capsule form.
I hate the taste of fish! I have tried all sorts of variations, and thought I could only take the capsules, but they cost so much more than the oil. I thought I would give this Omega 3 Liquid a go as a last ditch attempt to find a source of good EPA/DHA at an affordable price. I am now on my 6th bottle and getting plenty of Omega 3 to the point that regular colds and infections have massively decreased and my weight has remained much more stable. It barely tastes of fish, or at least to the degree that I can swallow it, and considering I can't stomach mackerel, or even the smell of it, that is a great bonus.Goes Well With:on it's own or mixed in with a strawberry flavoured shake
