Hemp Protein is an excellent source of protein containing Essential Amino Acids (EAAs) at a ratio closer to 'complete' sources of protein such as meat, milk and eggs. It is also packed with live enzymes, Essential Fatty Acids (EFA), vitamins, minerals and other co-factors to aid absorption.
Our Hemp Protein Powder is manufactured via a proprietary processing method to retain as much of the nutritional goodness as possible. Absolutely no chemicals or heat are used in any of the processing. The process is cold pressed and cold filtered to produce hemp seed oil. Then the powder is created by cold milling, cold hulling and finally sifting.
To attain optimum health we must eat foods that contain live enzymes, active phyto-nutrients, vitamins, minerals, EAAs, and EFAs. These elements are termed "Essential" because the human body does not produce them, they must come from the food we eat. Hemp Seed is one of the plant kingdom's most concentrated, complete and balanced sources of EAAs and EFAs.
Hemp Seeds are rich in essential nutrients including chlorophyll, magnesium, potassium, sulphur, phytosterols, ascorbic acid, beta-carotene, calcium, fibre, histidine, iron, potassium, phosphorus, riboflavin, niacin and thiamine.
Shelled Hemp Seed or Hemp Nut contains 34.6% pure digestible protein, providing readily available Amino Acids for building and repairing tissue. Hemp Seed Protein is comprised of 65% high quality Edestin Protein, the most potent protein of any plant source and 35% Globulin Edestin, which closely resembles the globulin in blood plasma and is highly compatible with the human digestive system.
Hemp Seed is rich in Omega 6 and Omega 3 EFAs as well as being one of the few plant sources of GLAs.
Our Hemp seed is whole, live, non-GM and contains 0.000% THC.
Add 150-250ml of water or fruit juice into our shaker (the less liquid the thicker the shake will be). Then add just under 1 MP large scoop (30g), shake and consume. Use 2-3 times daily or as required.
1 x level MP Plastic Scoop (large) weighs 38g. (not included)
This product is 100% Hemp Protein with nothing added or taken away.

Have had this product as my first ever protein and vitamin, I was running three times a week before using this and even with a good diet i was still struggling to find the energy and run again, but my brother put me on to his hemp protein as he found it hard to stomach and I enjoyed it, so still on it add a bit of mint every now and then and i'm just about to order more.Goes Well With:mint, tomato soup or homemade butternut squash soup
The tastes grows on you
- (13 / Dec / 2013)
When I had my first shake I was doughtfull, it didn't taste great but it wasn't bad. But after a 1kg pack the taste has grown on me and I quite like it. To my suprise it's great with milk, I mix it with a bit of dextrose for post work-outs and that tastes great to. I still haven't tried it with juice yet. I just brought the vegan belnd which I will never do again, this product it far superea in taste and mixability. I havn't been working out long enough to know how it effects performence and growth. It mixes well and doesn't effect my stomach in any bad way, neither does it make me fart while squating. Can't wait to finish my vegan blend so I can get back onto this,
The best I've tried
- (10 / Dec / 2013)
Being lactose intolent and vegaterian I've been a bit limited in my choices. I've tried brown rice protein (it's grainy and doesn't agree with me), I've tried pea protein (which is ok) and even mixed the two (it's supposed to give a better amino acid balance) but hemp protein was the only protein I've tried which is easily digested and has noticable results. Yes, as others have said, it has a strong nutty / earthy flavour but once you get over the unusual flavour it's the best out there for vegans.Goes Well With:I stick with water!
- (07 / Dec / 2013)
Nice natural product!
- (06 / Dec / 2013)
As i like to have diversity in my protein intake i discovered that this kind of raw proteins are a great way to do that by mixing them in half parts with other flavored proteins.
I like to try things that aren't usual, i was sceptical with mixing it with whey but after i tasted it, this became my favorite blend, the shake gets lighter, and i find it to be more easily digested.
In raw, this tastes like what it is but i find it to blend very well with any other flavour, so the taste shouldn't be a issue.Goes Well With:Other flavoured protein blends.

I call this product excellent -despite its downfall in mixability- because of its purity and rawness as a food. Having used whey protein for a couple of years when I was in my late teens I almost always found problems with it, whether from it being difficult to digest or the bloating that many people complain of. I could 'feel' that I'd had it, and that my stomach didn't like it, for pretty much the rest of the day. Having done a bit of reading it seems that the methods of extraction, the agents that it comes powdered with, and the nature of the protein as animal (and hence not optimised for human stomachs) all contribute to these complaints about whey.
I have to commend myprotein on their range of plant-based products as well as the quality and affordability of this one in particular. As other reviewers say, this is raw hemp protein which means it will digest in your stomach just as though you had eaten the seeds. I've found the shakes so digestible that I can have them before/after meals and not feel bloated or over-full, nor does it feel heavy in the stomach during exercise.
The product doesn't mix particularly well, but you can't expect much else since it's 100% hemp. Hemp doesn't naturally mix into a solution and it is heavier than milk and water so it tends to sink to the bottom of the shake. You can also feel the powder in your mouth as you drink it, but that isn't unusual with shakes in my experience. It isn't an offensive taste, but the shake benefits from adding your own flavouring. Goes Well With:1/3 water, 2/3 milk, chocolate milkshake powder.
Pleased so far
- (23 / Sep / 2013)
I'm pretty new to the whole protein supplements thing, but as a vegetarian I decided to try this as it was recommended by a friend. First few goes I mixed it with just water and found it a bit, well, odd - kind of like drinking cold, thin pea soup! But mixed with skimmed milk it's much better - actually quite smooth and really quite tasty. And I have to say that it does seem to help refuelling after a session at the gym. I'm certainly coming back for more!Goes Well With:Milk!
- (19 / Sep / 2013)
Hemp Protein is a very good choice, it's vegan and healthy protein! Mixing it with water is okay but it tastes much better mixed with fruit juice. I'll definitively buy it again! Goes Well With:water, fruit juice
The one and only.
- (19 / Aug / 2013)
Hemp Protein is the only protein that is not UHT treated - which means it retains most of its minerals/vitamins and is fully assimilable. It is also cold processed (obtained by physical means) and without a use of solvents and therefore does not get your bowels bloated. The only thing is the taste but it could bypassed by mixing with 100% chocolate. You could mix it with banana as well but do not forget to add a spoonful or two of flax oil to slow down the carbs intake (high index).
Goes Well With:100% chocolate
Best out there..
- (17 / Aug / 2013)
Researching nutrition, I have come to learn that Hemp protein is the most natural and purest protein out there.
Before, I think it was raw eggs, but those days are long gone. Thank goodness,
this Hemp Protein tastes like plants, and takes some getting used to. It can be mixed etc but the taste is quite strong and overpowering. I won't lie about that. However, you can get used to it, and it is fantastic for recovery!
A few shakes of this a day, will soon become habit and really does speed up recovery after a workout, also I have noticed an increase in muscle gain compared to other protein powders.
The main selling point for me was the purity of the Hemp, nothing is added, or taken away.Goes Well With:I mix it with milk or water, ideally with the Myprotein Shaker.
- (13 / Aug / 2013)
No stomach upset at all even if taking few servings per day. For all the fusspots out there, its on par with pea protein taste wise (not great) but in blender with berries and orange juice it is fine, actually adds a nice thick texture.
Cant complain on this stuff, taste is irrelevant really unless you are a fusspot and more worried on taste than quality.
Sticking to this gear from now on.Goes Well With:frozen berries and juice
Just Starting out
- (07 / Aug / 2013)
I recently started running/jogging with a group of other middle aged women. The reasons for this is first to get fit and hopefully lose a little weight.
I have been trying to improve the muscles in my body and Hemp protein was recommended to me.
I have only just started using this product along with making other changes to my diet and running/jogging three times a week. Up to now I have no complaints and I am happy with what I received. My fitness has improved and I am slowly losing weight as well as toning my whole body.
Give it ago and find out for yourselves. It's never to late.Goes Well With:Shakes and soups
- (29 / Jul / 2013)
At first, I didn't like the taste of Hemp Protein, finding it too overwhelming! But then I used 400ml of oat milk, a banana and a half scoop of hemp protein and it tastes delicious.Goes Well With:Oat milk and a banana.
Not For Me
- (16 / Jul / 2013)
I wasn't a fan of this Hemp Protein. It tastes horrible! If you are going to get it I would get a flavoured one!
- (21 / Jun / 2013)
I have an intolerance to whey to found hemp protein a good replacement, this protein tastes they best of any I've ever had. It mixes as well as hemp protein can just I make it as required or if taking it to training I just give it a good shake before I drink it. Value for money and quality myprotein is the best there is highly recommend it.
- (19 / Jun / 2013)
The taste of this Hemp Protein is great, it's kind of nutty, like a mild peanut butter. Better than Whey in my opinion.Goes Well With:Me
- (13 / Jun / 2013)
It taste better than it looksGoes Well With:Meal replacement shakes
- (12 / Jun / 2013)
Not a good taste by itself but it is really effective with recovery!Goes Well With:Tomato juice and tabasco sauce
- (04 / Jun / 2013)
This Hemp Protein works for me as I alternate between pea and hemp proteins and they go well with my paleo (dairy and gluten free) diet, but the taste is not too good.
- (15 / May / 2013)
Hemp Protein is lovely to drink as a smoothy, with a nice taste. It gives good results and is a very good vegetarian source.
- (22 / Apr / 2013)
Hemp Protein is an excellent product that's a much smoother and finer mixture than those available on the high street. Taste is an acquired one, although mixed 50/50 with impact whey protein and berries, this makes it much more palatable. It mixes easily and smoothly.Goes Well With:CLA
- (17 / Apr / 2013)
I love this Hemp Protein. As well as being a brilliant raw food (which combines beautifully with banana and cacao!), I love baking with it. I don't eat any grain and only have monosaccharides and find the natural albumin content of this means it makes wonderful breads and cakes without the need for loads of eggs.Goes Well With:everything!
Top quality protein
- (09 / Apr / 2013)
I'm a big fan of Hemp Protein, for me it releases slower than whey protein and so that makes it a useful ingredient in my breakfast shake. Unlike with whey, I stay full for longer when I use hemp protein (without feeling bloated).
The colour can be a bit strange, as anything you mix it with will result in a green slime. However, I find the taste to be pleasant, and it mixes quite well (with flax) - better than whey protein.
Goes Well With:Fruit juice, ground flax.
My Advice? Water it Down
- (25 / Mar / 2013)
I am not one to complain about taste in general, but I found this Hemp Protein to be pretty hard to swallow. It has a horrid flavour and texture. It tastes better with almond, hazelnut or rice milk than water. It needs something to sweeten it, and use water to water it down. I will continue to use it as an effective alternative to whey.
- (18 / Mar / 2013)
Hemp Protein is a very good, natural, plant-based protein powder. I've used it for some time now, sometimes on its own, but I also mix it with pea and brown rice protein. It has much more than just protein, as it's packed with a lot of good stuff. It's highly recommended.
- (07 / Mar / 2013)
What can I say, the Hemp Protein is a great product and tastes fine to me when just mixed with water, but make sure you use a bit more water about 300ml per scoop. I'm enjoying mixing it up and not just having whey all the time. The price does seem a bit high, but it's definitely worth trying out!
- (18 / Feb / 2013)
Hemp Protein is probably the most nutritional protein one can consume.
The taste may not be as 'good' as some other proteins, but once you get used to it, it's perfectly palatable.
hemp protein. not that bad
- (16 / Feb / 2013)
I've used Hemp Protein on and off but I am using it now all the time I got back into training. I have one after I've finished a workout.
I mix mine with water plus add spirulina, barley grass, chlorella, plus other powders and drink it. Yes, the taste is different. I know from what I've read on different sites the benefits of taking this stuff is amazing,
and it doesn't bloat like whey. I find whey to sweet, this is why I enjoy hemp, which is a bland non-sweet product.
- (18 / Sep / 2012)
it tastes very good mixed with water + tbsp of raw cacao powder and tsp of raw agave nectar.
- (25 / Jul / 2012)
"Wow, I'm surprised at how many reviews are giving this five stars. I haven't tried it for very long so I can't yet vouch for it's effectiveness just yet (am trying to find a protein shake without lactose), but I can say it's not easy to drink. It's a bit like trying to swallow a bag of crushed brazil nuts - hard going. Mixing only with water is just not good - it's more than a nutty taste, it's really bitter and strong and I defy anyone to have more than one scoopful per shake without gagging. However, I've found the most palatable way to drink it is to mix with Hazelnut milk and a banana (almond milk doesn't quite mask the taste enough for my liking), and would like to know if there are any better options. An acquired taste indeed, and one I've yet to acquire."
- (24 / May / 2012)
"well I was surprised with this protein, mixed with almond milk its not bad tasting, the average person will probably think its a rank taste, but out of all of the proteins this is now my choice, it has so many health benefits out of all the vegan proteins. throw in some banana oats and you have a delicious healthy post workout shake "
- (18 / May / 2012)
"I stopped buying whey protein as it gave me chronic insomnia, no matter what time of the day i took it. My girlfirend, who is vegan, put me onto this stuff. I was worried at first is wouldnt be as effective as whey but i have actually seen better results in the gym, which i put down to the good nights sleep i am now getting! Certainly as a protein source it is a good as whey, and MUCH better for you. I feel so much better having switched from whey to hemp, especially my insides! I can also take a massive scoop before bedtime and sleep like a baby. As far as the taste goes its not too bad. It mixes much better with water than whey and i guzzle down 3-4 glasses (1 scoop) a day no problem. My GF doesnt like the texture so she puts it in a yoghurt and loves the taste. I HIGHLY recommend this product. PS. PLEASE BRING DOWN THE PRICE!"
- (06 / Apr / 2012)
"According to many sources (see reference) hemp protein has many health benefits a superfood indeed. However, me personally it makes extremely sleepy probably due to cannabidiol known in particular for this effect. If taken daily, the sleepiness gets 24/7. Otherwise, given so much good stuff there, the taste is tolarable. Reference: thirdplanetfood.com/phyt21.htm"
- (03 / Apr / 2012)
"My first review ,i received my hemp protein today . even tough i read and researched about the advantage of hemp protein i wasn't looking forward to the taste. But to my surprise it taste nice i made a smoothie it had tropicana orange juice 150ml,1 banana,3 strawberries .i used to take Promax extreme and will be honest didn't see any change used to take it after and before training and it was vanilla flavour which didn't taste nice . the only thing missing here measuring spoon in the bag which would help to get the right quantity ."
- (07 / Feb / 2012)
"mixes ok, tastes exactly like i expected (hemp seeds) no problem for me to mix with water,i quite enjoy it.previously used pea protein for lactose, gluten free protein which is great but thought i,d try something which brings a bit more to the party ie enzymes, better amino +fatty acids profile, vitimins and nutrients.havent used it long enough to review results but im sure it gives me a better pump on drinking one b4 gym."
- (09 / Nov / 2011)
"ok this is my first review on this site, ive had many of the products, Hemp protein as you know has many benefits compared to whey. i bought a bag and tried it out. the taste was a slight shock to the system so dont buy a big bag first, but mixed with GUAVA JUICE OMG IT TASTE AMAZINNNNGGGGG! I WILL NOW BE ONLY USING HEMP PROTEIN. ITS A WHOLEFOOD ! Ive seen gains that seem to be stable and dont reduce in size like when you stop using other proteins. So Buy it and find a suitable juice to mix it with and you'll be fine. i even put a scoop of the powder in my sweet potato mash for lunch. :)"
- (26 / Aug / 2011)
"Personally I didn't like the taste much, its stronger than whey so would be relatively difficult to mask, I suggest you buy a small amount to try first. Also the protein per weight is low so its overall much more expensive than other sources I'm intolerant to some foods with no apparent pattern and this one was really bad, I can't even take it as it goes straight through me. Soya protein is much better but also requires hiding the awful taste, I'll try the Brown Rice Protein if it comes back into stock."
- (02 / Jun / 2011)
Very expensive for hemp as you can get it very cheap from other places but I bought with a few friends in bulk this stuff and it really works and it is a healthy alternative to whey and has a more nutritional complex whereas whey just tends to provide protein and very little else nutrition wise.
- (14 / Mar / 2011)
"I enjoy this hemp organic protein powder as it is healthy, organic, very effective too. I eat meat very rarely and non free range eggs in regular protein shakes I find not so friendly to chickens. I went for a vegan protein to use alongside a good whey protein immediately after the gym. I have felt my bodies strengh, endurance and tone improve with my lean mass increase from this product. Thankyou"
- (22 / Feb / 2011)
"I am allergic to loads of things including dairy, soya and wheat/corn/grains, so was so pleased when my lovely Brother told me about this, though it took me a while to get round to ordering as I read some of the reviews.... and was a bit put off, but I should have just gone with it! It is not nasty in any way at all - it has a slightly nutty flavour (well I as I remember nuts from my childhood anyway - as I'm allergic to them now too!!) I drink wheatgrass and Spirulina too, so the greeness is of no consequence, and it does mix provided you are drinking it straight away, or drinking it from a shaker so you can giive it a quick shake before you swig, as it does settle a bit. I imagine it will adapt well to flavourings, but personally I thought it tasted really nice. Can't comment on it's effectiveness as only just had my first one, but I enjoyed it and will be back for more!"
- (04 / Feb / 2011)
"This is anecdotal evidence I admit, but I have to say that there's something about this protein powder which works really, really well for me. I don't know what, but I've tried around half of the different types of protein supplement and this one really gives me some kind of boost in the way no other has. I sincerely hope they start offering a bulk discount however as it's very expensive. A recommendation: mix it with Pomegranite juice. It's an acquired taste, but it really grows on you after a couple of days. Although I genuinely think my body just recognizes it as great nutrition and has psychologicallyl made it taste great in response. This is *much* better than any whey protein for me."
- (01 / Sep / 2010)
"Dont buy this if you want a nice taste when drinking protein. This is natural ground down hemp seeds. The first time i tried it i heaved, honestly i have a high threshold for putting up with revolting tasting drinks as i have taken all sorts of brands of whey for over 5 years. I kept going and found my tolerance level improving and the taste becomes more bland. However the effectivness of the product is unbelievable. I feel better and have put on good clean lean muscle and lost body fat. This stuff really is the real deal, its a whole protein and superfood all in one packed with minerals EFA`s vitamins loads of fibre ( great Stools ) low PH level compared to high acidic whey powder. I have more sustained energy and better skin, I am not tell porkys when i say i chucked a 5kg tub of whey in the bin. Shame that MYPROTEIN dont add a natural flavouring to help take this diamond in the ruff."
- (11 / Aug / 2010)
"This tastes absolutely fine; quite nutty, which I had no problems with. I wouldn't want to drink it neat with just water, but the first time I used it was in a smoothie and didn't use quite enough liquid so it came out really really thick. The taste was fine and not at all overpowering (unless you're taking it neat I guess), it just adds a slightly grainy texture to whatever you're drinking and a very slight undertone of hazelnuts. Only thing it needs is a bulk discount!"
- (09 / Jun / 2010)
"I love this stuff, one scoop of hemp with one scoop of soy in apple juice, banana, nuts, fruit and honey whisked up and its one tasty beverage. On its own it has the taste of a swamp! I have worried about my protein intake (as a strict veggie) and for me Quorn and Tofu just don’t cut it as things to eat. Since using MP Hemp and Soy I have had more energy than I can remember having and feel more alive and vitalised. So all round top marks."
- (27 / May / 2010)
"hemp is so much better than whey. Hemp is raw and natural with complete essential amino acids and essential fatty acids. It also has an abundance of other nutrients, such as magnesium iron etc. also take this with raw organic coconut oil, as it helps your body absorb more essential fatty acids and amino acids."
- (21 / May / 2010)
"This is a great product, if you are looking for a natural protein source. You can mix as much as you want into a small glass of orange juice and it tastes fine at worst it is like ground hazelnuts just be prepared for it. Men not liking something because it isn't sweet/creamy enough is laughable, this doesn't taste bad, has a slight texture to it just like creatine powder but mix it and neck it. (tastes far better than what most of us neck on a Fri/Sat evening! ;o) Also really good for the road as you don't need milk or a blender. couple of spoons in a bottle of orange juice shake and down! Juice in first then the power whisk it quickly and it disappears in 5-10 seconds. You also don't have a whole pint to drink so good for when wanting small shots volume wise with the same amount of protein, you can drink it before going out without buddha-bloat!"
- (18 / May / 2010)
"Okay, it doesn't taste wonderful on its own, but if you mix it with something else, it's actually fine. Very effective, too - no bloating whatsoever, and seems to be helping with my nutrition goals and strength building."
Great Protein If You Are Intolerant To Milk
- (06 / May / 2010)
"This protein goes down well & with no add bloated feeling like whey protein. I mixed mine like this 1 large MP scoop of Hemp protein, 3 small MP scoop of BCAA powder, 2 small MP Flavouring (Smooth Chocolate), added 150ml of water & shaked it in a protein shaker bottle. Tasted quite nice actually. Next time i will be adding 1 large MP scoop of oats. I instantly feel energised by working out for 2 hours in the gym doing interval training. Hemp Protein is great. If you dont like the taste add some MP Flavouring. Cheers"
Whey Better than whey.
- (30 / Apr / 2010)
"This stuff is great if you prefer savory tastes, and if whey makes you ill like it does me its even better.\nI thought i would leave a recipe that i use to take mine.\n3 dashes of Lee and Perins\n7 dashes of Tabasco sauce\n200ml of tomato juice\n30gs of hemp powder\n6g barley grass powder\nGood dash of virgin olive oil\nStir well with a long spoon\nground black Pepper to taste but i used quite a bit\n5 dashes of lemon juice\nAnd finaly another 150/200ml tomato juice#\nStir well again.\n\nAdd the ingredients in this order as i think the acid in lemon juice affects the Tabasco sauce.\n\nThis works great for me, im trying to lose weight so have this instead of lunch or after a good long bike ride, the pepper and pepper sauce increases metabolism, the barley juice should be added in lesser amounts to start off so you get used to it.\n\nHope you like my Smokin Virgin Mary.\n"
Best Protein Yet
- (12 / Apr / 2010)
"As a slim guy I've taken a hell of a lot of different protein powders in my life. I used to like Whey - especially for the taste - but when I found out where most whey protein comes from and the way those cows are treated I had to find an alternative. Gandhi once said, "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." \n\nHemp protien sure doesn't taste great but a hard workout shouldn't feel like a walk in the park either! Not drinking it because it doesn't taste like a milkshake is a sad excuse. Man up people."
