Tried this product as I play a lot of football and I think the product is very good! It helps reduce DOMS after football and especially the day after. Muscle soreness is reduced massively, however I tried the mint chocolate and the mint is far too strong and I've found it hard to stomach. I've only tried it with water ATM but it does mix very well!
- (20 / Aug / 2014)
Early days yet been using it for the last two weeks. Initial thought is that it seems to be a good product. The smooth chocolate has a good taste but is too sweet for my liking. Less sweetener please!
New to shakes? read me !
- (15 / Aug / 2014)
I tried shakes a couple of years ago and they were just awful, the texture, the mix and the taste put me off for a long long time.
Recently I got back into fitness and really struggled with the recovery in my legs which meant I struggled to train day after day. a friend recommended this product to me and I ordered it as an impulse buy but it then sat in my kitchen for a good 2 months (yes really, the old shakes really put me off) before I finally took the plunge as I needed to get fit for my wedding.
I have to say I was pleasently suprised, I had the chocolate one and it smells and tastes like chocolate. It doesnt taste as nice as a mcdonalds milkshake so dont expect it to be a tast revoloution but it is enjoyable and after a few days you get used to the taste and they go down very easily.
My legs now recover in just a few hours meaning I am able to jump on my push bike everyday without any stiffness or aces.
Take it form someone who has always been very sceptical shakes that this one works !Goes Well With:Water

Excellent value when bought in 5kg pack also save on post
- (22 / Jul / 2014)
After taking this after a hard workout it certainly reduces any fatigue or aches that follow workouts without it. Chocolate smooth is a great flavour and mixes well with a blend of water and semi skimmed milk in a MP shake
Perfect for recovery
- (11 / Jul / 2014)
I suffer badly from lactic acid and went looking for something to help with it.
Some of the previous reviews said this helps them so I took a punt.
Currently feeling the numbness of a tough Cross-Fit Strength session last night, but no lactic acid at all.
For this alone, I can't recommend it enough.
I mix with a ~300ml milk and it mixes really well and tastes lovely. Strawberry and cream for me Goes Well With:Milk

Excellent post work out recovery formula that gives impressive gains. I'm training for triathlon but still putting on muscle doing plyometric and body weight workouts, not pushing heavy weights.
Tastes great (chocolate smooth), mixes well and is excellent value given the complex content. Definitely helps me train harder. Highly recommended.
Review of Recovary XS
- (11 / Jun / 2014)
This is my first time trying any kind of shake to help out with my fitness and cricket, badminton and football when I start my fitness in September I will see truly how effective this product is and how much it does for me at the moment I use for cricket and badminton. It does taste a little bit chalky but you get use to this within 2 weeks also good to use when making smoothies and using fruit and milk. So far I can see some difference when using this product but will hopefully see more and better results when I start doing more physical activity.
When making smoothies add about 1 scope with a fruits and milk this will help aid recovery between the days you don’t do sports.
also one con is that the packaging it comes in is very plain with no info about the product just how to take it. I would of liked some information on the product just like the website has.Goes Well With:Milk
Fills a hole
- (09 / Jun / 2014)
This stuff tastes pretty good, and is easy to get down. Not sure about the effects as of yet. It certainly helps fill the stomach after a big ride/run, and stops me browsing the cupboard and eating everything in sight.Goes Well With:Milk
Not impressed - too sweet
- (28 / Apr / 2014)
Was looking for something that would help me recover from my long runs. I chose this as it stated it had lots of products contained within the drink that would help muscles recover quickly. Tried the drink with water as suggested, but was unable to stomach it. Left me feeling very sick due to the over sweet taste from the sweeteners. It also left a powdery consistency even when shaken. I'm just about able to stomach it with milk (taste improved), although not something I would by again. Also quite filling if consumed before a meal. Goes Well With:Milk
- (21 / Apr / 2014)
Ok I'm training for the L2B bike race out here in brittany, and do running. bought some ZMA, Taurine and Omega3's. I bought the choc one years ago, didnt get on with the taste so tried strawberry this time round. Tried it with water first, overpowerfully artificial aftertaste, but it still worked noticable difference in recovery, actually felt supercharged the following day and to be honest as long a I have one of these badboys after a session I just want to get out there and smash next time!
A Bannana, Real strawberries and milk transform this product from (for me) rather unpleasent to Agreeable and eager to neck one when I get back. Goes Well With:banna milk strawberries
- (16 / Apr / 2014)
Very convenient to have post workout and tastes good too. I got the strawberry cream which is great as it mixes well, buts its very sweet at first. All in all a very good product that I'll be buying again :)Goes Well With:Ice Cold Water
- (24 / Mar / 2014)
Always been sceptical about all these types of recovery drinks etc.
but I have to say the times I take recovery xs I do not have any aches the next day so can train a bit harder during intense marathon training. especially as a Vet 50+. I need all the help I can get!
Smooth choc my favourite.
Goes Well With:whey protein powder
- (17 / Mar / 2014)
Great Product - Chocolate smooth and Chocolate mint are the nicer flavours. Would definitely recomend.
- (17 / Mar / 2014)
This is the best choice if anyone is looking for a quick recovery to incorporate more training! Feel better day after heavy session and tastes nice when mixed with cold milk
- (13 / Mar / 2014)
Ive been using recovery xs for a few years now. I run between 30-40 miles a week and do weights circuits in the gym. I find Rec xs helps me go into the next training session feeling fresh. My times have come down considerably since ive been using it. Ive used the strawberry and the choc smooth and both taste and mix fine. I can highly recommend Recovery xs!!!
Good I guess
- (28 / Feb / 2014)
The product as a whole is good but it doesn't mix as well as others and seems to be abit bitty in consistency. The actual effects of the product is really good if you can get through the taste and the consistencyGoes Well With:Milk
- (24 / Feb / 2014)
I've been using recovery for nearly a year now, mainly after 5aside/11aside football matches as a great way to replenish and recover after. I find it mixes well with milk but have never tried water. I have also added rolled oats and used after a gym session but found it best to mix beforehand as this give the oats time to absorb some liquid and be more palatable. Goes Well With:ZMA
My Protein Recovery XS
- (14 / Feb / 2014)
This was the first product I have purchased from My Protein I do a lot of activities so need to have great recovery. The product works well, mixes well. The only negative comment is the sweeteners in the drink very strong sweetener taste takes a little getting used too but then it's not an issue
Go for the chocolate version...
- (30 / Jan / 2014)
I've used the chocolate version of this for a while and found it to be very effective in helping recovery from cycling. Have just started on a pack of the strawberry version and while it works just as well it has a very chemical aftertaste. Great product but go for the chocolate version!!
- (21 / Jan / 2014)
Great post-workout product...reduces recovery time, mixes well, tastes great! I use it with other MP products ..as a competitive fbb I recommend this and other MP products !
- (13 / Jan / 2014)
This is the second time I've purchased recovery XS for my triathlon training because it tastes great, mixes well and gives outstanding results. For the 18 months prior to September 2013 I used MP impact whey and while this was great for gaining muscle I was always a little overweight. Within weeks of using recovery XS I was leaner than before without any muscle loss. It was part of my half marathon training in which I smashed my course PB by 35 minutes! I would highly recommend this to any endurance athlete. Yes it does cost more but it is definitely worth it. Goes Well With:MP high Pro choc n orange bars
- (07 / Jan / 2014)
Chalky taste but you can get rid of that by adding more water...
By the way scooper you receive with this product only holds 30g of the powder (I always use my scales) so it's 3 headed scoops to get 90g not 2! Also, 400ml of water with 90g of powder on top almost fills my protein shaker to the point where it's impossible to mix so I get my 90g serving in 3 shakes (30g + 250ml water) each shake! Much easier and tastes nicer!
Overall an ok tasting shake that definitely does the job it states! Great recovery from it!
All good except the amount of power you need to use and the whole scoop mix up thing!
- (04 / Jan / 2014)
Excellent recovery drink, started doing crossfit and this massively helped my muscles recover, letting me workout daily. The effect was noticeable after just one day drinking it after a workout. Tastes good mixed with just water, though does take a lot of shaking including using blender ball. Have also tried using 1 scoop of recovery XS with 1 scoop of a more basic muscle-gain protein, and recovery was noticeably worse.Goes Well With:More muscle-gain based powder, so benefit from muscle gain and recovery
Solid first performance
- (23 / Dec / 2013)
Have just bought Recovery XS in chocolate.
Pros: prompt delivery, mix ability (though it needs more of a shake than others I've had), and the initial signs are that the results look good. I feel strong after I've had one of these post-workout and fit feels like it's doing something.
Cons: the chocolate one is much sweeter than previous shakes I've been on so will take some getting used to, lack of nutritional info on packageGoes Well With:Milk
DOMs, what DOMs?
- (12 / Dec / 2013)
Nice product. Mixes well and tastes really good. Hard to assess just how much it helps recovery and reduces soreness but I can work out on several days on the trot (I alternate push and pull workouts) and find I have no difficulty with getting over any DOMs I may have from the day before last, if that makes sense. Before I started using Recovery XS I found not having a rest day inbetween training days much harder to deal with. Goes Well With:Instant oats.
- (06 / Dec / 2013)
Consistency is what counts, not the 'glory' workouts, Recovery XS lets me train deep and hard, day after day, after week after month. I'll look out for you from the podium !
- (26 / Nov / 2013)
Wow, this is a really nice drink. I'm using Chocolate Mint flavour after cycling. It tastes great. It also mixes really well. I used to use Growing Naturals rice protein before and it was really difficult to mixGoes Well With:Semi skimmed milk
Bargin and Works
- (19 / Nov / 2013)
Use this after rugby games and training, works a treat. Goes Well With:Water
Good product but taste issues
- (17 / Nov / 2013)
There's a lot of powder for your money in this very large bag. I use to buy small sachets of High 5 recovery, but this works out a bit better. I normally mix it with semi-skimmed milk, and find that even with an electric whisk there can still be some small lumps of powder left. I've tried reducing the dosage of powder to milk and still have the same problem. This is also noticeable in the taste. While its smooth, creamy and definitely strawberry (my fave) there was still a hint of a powdery taste to it. This makes drinking 500ml hard for me as it starts to make me feel a bit sick.
However, since using it, I've definitely noticed less muscle aches after all my events the following day. I do take it within 30mins or as soon as possible after a race. And it does seem to work. So I think its worth the slight sick feeling in my stomach to not have the pain in my muscles.
Oh and I have found the powders quite thick and will coat things easily.. like clothes and hands if you spill it!
Overall I'd rate this as a product that does what it says, but the powdery taste needs to be improved.Goes Well With:Milk semi-skimmed
Just what the running doctor ordered
- (04 / Nov / 2013)
I have never used any supplement before, I always managed to eat what I needed to train effectively. However after getting severe calf cramps and the physio failing to stretch enough. However after 2 good serving of recovery XS I can feel the effects and 2 weeks on and more training the results are noticeable. Although the taste is a little chalky with a good shake in the My protein blender this does just the job.Goes Well With:Sweetened Soya Milk
- (04 / Nov / 2013)
Comes in good sized bag and looks the part, useful scope for getting the measures right each time.
I first tried this shake with water and found the after taste harsh on the throat. The next time I tried it with whole milk and it was much kinder to the throat and generally speaking the taste was 100x better. Lovely choc-mint flavour which I have been using for 2 weeks now and enjoying. I have been recovering quickly after long hard runs between 8-15miles.
Would recommend this product.
- (01 / Nov / 2013)
I received the Chocolate Mint version in place of the chocolate & the taste is terrible. Incidentally I've noted it defaults to the choc mint one even if you select chocolate. A good product except for the taste.
Fight training recovery
- (28 / Oct / 2013)
I am currently getting ready for my first Muay Thai fight after training hard for the past year. This stuff is Awesome !
I was looking to get a post workout drink that didn't put too much mass on (I need to stay at a set weight for my fight) but still tasted decent.
Recovery XS tastes brilliant. I picked the chocolate smooth and have a generous two scoops with milk. No weight gain noticed but definitely just helps knit back together those bashed around muscles and adds to lean muscle development.
If your training for any combat sport I would definitely recommend trying this stuff. Plus lets face it, pretty decent price for a protein shake that tastes good enough to look forward to.
- (26 / Oct / 2013)
Tried a few other brands before reaching my protein xs recovery shakes, once this lot is up will definitely be ordering more. Mint chocolate flavour tastes incredible with milk. Goes Well With:Milk
- (23 / Oct / 2013)
This was my first time of trying this product as I needed a good recovery shake but I must say I have been totally disappointed with this!
It tastes like chalk and feels like powder. I have bought a few of the Impact Whey Protein from this site which I have been highly impressed with and even recommended to friends but for this product I thought it would be the same so decided to get the 5kg but ended up with this product which has left me very sad!
- (09 / Oct / 2013)
I looked into post exercise nutrition because getting the carb/protein mix inside the 30 mins was proving difficult. I'd probably know its effectiveness if I stopped using it, I'd be reminded very quickly how slowly I used to recover.
It tastes well enough for a powder shake and mixes well in my shaker.
Goes Well With:water
- (29 / Sep / 2013)
I hadn't used any shakes before trying Recovery XS. It has gotten rid of any severe aches the following day after exercise, as I have started Insanity. The only thing I find is that it has a slight powdery residue at the bottom when it is mixed up - I have used a blender to try sort this.
I would always have this with milk (got the strawberry version) as with water it didn't taste quite right to me but mixed with approx 400ml milk it goes down a treat. There is a lack of flavour choice so that could be improved. Overall it is a good choice.Goes Well With:milk
- (25 / Sep / 2013)
Really effective product....taste is 'good', not brilliant....would like to see greater choice of flavours as with other productsGoes Well With:Water
- (21 / Sep / 2013)
I've been using this Recovery XS now for a few weeks and have been really impressed. I run 3 - 4 times a week but have previously always suffered with aches and stiffness on day 2. I've seen a massive improvement since using the shake. I picked the chocolate flavour which tastes really nice, I still find it leaves a few lumps but nothing unpleasant and easy to drink.
- (19 / Sep / 2013)
Straight after intensive sessions the Recovery XS shake helps, it's relatively easily mixed and tastes good compared to other shakes. Although there is a bit of a tangy taste left in your mouth. The next day felt a bit better than I would have normally, so effectively reduced recovery time. But obviously it depends on what exercise you're doing and what intensity you're working at. It does a good job though.Goes Well With:Well mixed with milk, also a banana or chocolate bar.
- (18 / Sep / 2013)
Smooth and creamy which is exactly how it is described. I mix it with water only as even skimmed milk makes it a little sickly. I good gulp after a session seems to hit the spot and fills you up to prevent the usual feast after a good work out. I am cutting right back on carbs and use this with other MY products. I have yet to feel hungry and am going like the clappers at the gym. Should have started this type of diet 25 or more years agoGoes Well With:Water
Good Post Training Supplement
- (18 / Sep / 2013)
I use Recovery XS after I play rugby, I use to suffer from the normal aches and pains after a game but since taking Recovery XS these have lessen quite a bit.
Happy with this product!Goes Well With:Milk!
- (17 / Sep / 2013)
I have never used supplements before so I didn't know what to expect. I have suffered with sore legs after cycling for years. After talking to my son he advised me to try Recovery XS..I did and now no more sore legs. Should have used this years ago.Goes Well With:Milk or Milk and water.
- (16 / Sep / 2013)
Recovery XS chocolate smooth and strawberry flavours are good quality for a very reasonable price. Delivery is always good.
Top run, top ending.
- (16 / Sep / 2013)
Recovery XS is absolutely superb in all honesty. I am recovering from a broken leg suffered around five months ago, and required a product that will give me protein and glucosamine in decent dosages that tastes nice. This product ticks all of the above boxes. My fitness isn't anywhere near to where I was pre-injury but it definitely makes the run a lot easier. It tastes so flipping good. I mix it up with a couple of bananas and ice cubs to give it a creamy texture; highly recommended with both water and fat free milk.Goes Well With:Bananas, Ice Cubes and Fat Free Milk
- (11 / Sep / 2013)
Tastes terrible, too sweet and not like chocolate at all. Doesn't mix well either.
- (03 / Sep / 2013)
Currently training for a marathon and this Recovery XS certainly helps with post-run stiffness enabling me to get going again the next day.
- (02 / Sep / 2013)
I was looking for a post-workout supplement that would enable me to exercise on a daily basis without the usual aches and stiffness and this Recovery XS has definitely helped with that. I wouldn't say that the aches have been completely eliminated (I wouldn't expect them to be) but they have definitely reduced a fair bit. I would recommend this to anyone who does a lot of cardio-orientated workouts and is looking to speed up their recovery time. I drink it once a day straight after I've finished exercise Mixability-wise, I find it slightly powdery but this doesn't bother me at all. Goes Well With:Water.
- (27 / Aug / 2013)
Recovery XS is good. You need a bit of adjusting to it in the beginning, but later you become used to the taste. It works well on my body, but I was maybe expecting a bit more. As a last word, It is not below my expectations. But probably just adequate. I will probably buy more once the current pack is over, provided I have a good discount offer again.Goes Well With:Water
