Whey protein concentrate has the highest known Biological Value (BV) of any known protein source, ensuring your body utilises the protein you consume to help with tissue building, muscle recovery and bone health. Whey protein also contains high levels of both essential and non-essential Amino Acids which aid in the development and growth of new and existing body tissue.
This premium quality whey protein concentrate has been produced to ensure no denaturing of the protein occurs during manufacture, ensuring you get the best possible impact from the amino acid content. Does the job and so far has been good as a pre and post workout. As a female it's good to see some muscle growth. I can't complain. Unflavoured isn't for everyone but you get used to it. Now I rather enjoy the taste.Goes Well With:Milk, water.

A great start product for someone wanting to up up their protien levels without effecting diet too much.
- (05 / Feb / 2014)
Bought it when it was on sale, now that it's back to normal price to be honest I'd just pay that tiny bit more and go with impact whey. Still, decent product and would buy again if on offer.
cheap, effective, taste great, mixability is ok, sometimes theres still a few lumps at the bottom but overall a great supplement!
Does exactly what's says
Does exactly what says on the bag wasn't mixing well at first with shaker and metal ball but foundif you add 500ml of water instead of the recommend 150-250ml mixes great with no lumps great product other than that would recommend to anyone.
Goes Well With:Water 500mls

The taste doesnt really get me going but i did get unflavoured but it fills you up and gets you through your workout.Goes Well With:Milk, water, hot chocolate powder
- (30 / Jan / 2014)
Mixes well with water and milk. Tastes a lot better than the strawberry flavour, especially if mixed with water. Mixes well but like others have said, some froth for a few minutes so as long as you prepare in advance no problems.Goes Well With:Water or milk
Essential Protein Smooth Chocolate

Came well packed. Mixes well using the shaker cup i bought along with it from My Protein. The taste isn't the best ive had, but it is very good nonetheless. Can be frothy sometimes, but this is a minor issue. Great product overall. As for effectiveness, it is too early to tell as yetGoes Well With:Milk
- (28 / Jan / 2014)
Excellent mix with water. Tastes great. Superb value. Works great too. 5 stars. Excellent. No more needs to be said. Goes Well With:Finest oats and water
- (22 / Jan / 2014)
This product is great value for money. The mixing isn't perfect. Sometimes it's really frothy on the top which you have to leave for a while to settle, sometimes can be clumpy. I bought vanilla this time round (mmm vanilla) it smells absolutely lush when you open the pouch. But when mixed does not taste like vanilla at all. I'll still buy the product again but stick to strawberry cream as I know I enjoy the taste. But all in all I would recommend it.
- (20 / Jan / 2014)
Really good and effective product, I use it for protein pancakes, mix it with milk or water - tastes good either way!
Results when mixed with good workouts have been really pleasing too, I tend to have creatine mixed with it and it works well in both of the shakers that I currently use.
Great product and very good value for money,Goes Well With:Milk, water, creatine.

Great with oatmeal first thing in the morning to kick off the day. No Flavour so can be adapted into most shakes quick & easy to mix.Goes Well With:Oatmeal & Milk

I tried the pea protein before as it was the cheapest one and that was good but the taste was bland. The essential whey strawberry tastes really good, I didn't think this was important before but I actually look forwards to having it after training, where as the pea protein I sometimes used to forget to take. Problem with it, is it doesn't mix well, I have tried water, milk, power first, liquid first and still the same results. You get and nice drink with chewy lumps of protein in it. Not the end of the world as the lumps taste good but it makes cleaning out the shaker harder as it sticks to the side. I didn't get this with the pea protein. So it tastes great, does the job but lumpy. I got it due to its price but will try a different one next time due to the mixability
Love the lumps!
First of all, the 2.5kg pack is amazing value and I received mine 2 days after I ordered it and since I put my order in at about 7pm that isn't too shabby!
I am a slim female and I find this great to help me recover and get lean.
I have found it mixes better with water, but still if I use milk there are only some small lumps and I personally quite like them! The strawberry cream flavour is absolutely delicious.
So really nothing at all to complain about, I think this is a great product for a great price.
- (17 / Jan / 2014)
Brilliant product all round, only put taste as 1 because I got the unflavoured version, but product works, easily digested and easily mixed. only problem is that it said scoop not included so I ordered one but it came with one anyway.
but overall excellent product and would order again
Does what it says!

Great product. Plain and simple, good for rebuilding muscles after a workout with decent quality protein and a nice side of carbs for energy. It mixes better than most powders I've had before, the taste is fine (strawberry), and I've noticed positive gains more with this protein than anything else I've tried. Big thumbs up, I'll be getting more of it very soon.
- (04 / Jan / 2014)
People complaining about the taste really need to try Hydrolyzed whey or even BCAA's or EAA's. Those are the most disgusting tasting things you could imagine. The taste is rather bland, kind of a milky taste tbh, I just mix it with water and drink it quite easily. The people complaining about the foam, simply add more water, you will have a lot less foam. next to none if the ratio is correct.
A balanced ratio of carbs and protein which is a lot healthier than dextrose or simple carbs. The body needs a balance and this is a great 'snack' and after gym mix Goes Well With:water - lots of water to avoid foaming
value for money

Perfect protein for a beginner or training on a budget, mixes okay and the vanilla flavour is good. My protein proves once again the best value supplements on the market to suit all budgets.Goes Well With:Milk, creatine, bcaa

Best protein I have found I put it in a blender with oats, bananas, cocoa powder and ice then blitz it's the perfect shake for doing weights or when I go running! NiceGoes Well With:Milk, oats, bananas
An essential product
- (07 / Dec / 2013)
This product does everything it says on the tin (or pouch). Very good value for money when you consider that other WPC products on the market produced by designer label sports nutrition companies are only a little above 70% protein yet three times the price. The only criticism would be the mixability which is poor. It will fully mix in a shaker cup after vigorous shaking but you're then with a foam that sits on top for about 10 minutes. If you try to just mix by whisking with a fork it just goes lumpy. Bottom line: great tasting, great value whey protein just be patient on the mixing front.Goes Well With:A shaker cup (and patience)
- (06 / Dec / 2013)
Artificial sweet taste also an artificial vanilla taste and it should mix better with milkGoes Well With:Water
- (06 / Dec / 2013)
First taste was abit funny, regret getting vanilla because it tastes awful so there wasn't any fun in the drink so just has to suck it in and drink it so won't get that again.Goes Well With:Milk
You get what you pay for
- (06 / Dec / 2013)
The best aspect of this powder is that it is the cheapest I was able to find online, and it's close to being as good as most others out there. It tastes good (I recommend Vanilla) but the mixing can vary; sometimes there are huge clumps left in my shaker, sometimes not, but there are always a few little grains left unmixed at the end. Also, the protein content (15g per scoop) is less than others I have tried in the past (up to 20g per scoop). Overall, good for the price, but you can find better for a bit more money if so inclined.Goes Well With:Tastes good with milk or water.
- (30 / Nov / 2013)
Got a 5kg bag unflavoured and finished it in just over a month. Mixes perfectly, tastes just like milk even when mixed with water. Can add flavours if needed. Noticed added mass right away.
Mix it in with food! I made protein cakes with this stuff!
Mix a shake and dump it on cereals.
Mixes well with green drinks and loads of stuff, very versatile!
Whey 60 - don't do it
- (24 / Nov / 2013)
I ordered this Essential Whey 60 because it was slightly cheaper than the impact. This was a mistake, I did not like this protein. It mixes poorly and has a nasty aftertaste with the unflavoured version. I normally add flavouring to my unflavoured protein, and did it here as well, but it did not mix well and I found it hard to stomach.
Don't get unflavoured
- (19 / Nov / 2013)
I got 5KG of unflavoured essential whey 60 thinking I would be able to neck it! I was wrong! The taste is truly awful.
- (18 / Nov / 2013)
Good quality protein & carbs powder. I've used this religiously for a couple of months now and it does help with size/strength gains. If you use it 2-3 times a day, along with a good diet to support your muscle growth it'll definitely help you achieve your goals! I used the unflavoured option and added my own milkshake powder which works well and adds calories as it the milkshake powder is full of carbs. I just hope that My Protein bring out the same type of full-fat product i've concocted as I'm no too keen on sweeteners. Goes Well With:Milkshake powder, Whey Protein, Creatine.
- (18 / Nov / 2013)
I recently purchased unflavoured protein. Arrived on time. Great price but . Have not buying this product before I would not recommended it as unflavoured just does not taste nice.worth spending the extra few quid on a flavoured variety. Great products otherwise .
Energy & Protein
- (08 / Nov / 2013)
I found the essential whey 60 a good product for gaining weight due to the extra carbs and medium level of protein I have gained 5lbs over the last 2 months and don't look as skinny and weedy, it's mix ability is great and can mix well with milk or water and blend with banana of cocoa powder to add flavour if required, will buy again. Goes Well With:Milk or water, porridge blender with bannana or nesquick choco
- (06 / Nov / 2013)
I have changed to this after using an unflavoured soy protein and the taste is much better.
- (04 / Nov / 2013)
Essential Whey 60 seemed to separate and very frothy.
- (28 / Oct / 2013)
Great product! Did exactly what I wanted, gained 10lbs over 2 months and certainly noticed a difference.Goes Well With:Milk
- (28 / Oct / 2013)
I got passed the website address from some guys who have been buying some Whey products, they were using the Mass product as they were bodybuilding but for myself I needed something for my training ie boxing.
I had lost a lot of weight but wanted to gain some back but not really change my diet so I bought some Essential Whey 60 which gives me the protein and carbs I needed.
So far its working great as I am gaining weight and muscle not fat; I bought the Vanilla one which I mix 50/50 with semi skimmed milk and water.
Great product and better still great customer service.
Many thanks Ian (Tyson) Triggs.
- (28 / Oct / 2013)
Superb. Really enjoyed it, great product. Although I did find the chocolate flavor really quite sweet when mixed with water. And this is coming from a guy who likes 3 spoons of sugar in his tea! I'd still recommend it though.
And I can't speak highly enough of My Protein, the only place I'd go for protein/fitness/health and well-being products.
Great stuff! I think...
- (21 / Oct / 2013)
I have decided to review the bit that mattered to me as much as I can, but the fact is I really can't. And then elaborated on the suggested review topics.
Firstly, I'm pretty new to this protein shake stuff - in that I have had a few varieties over the years but not while the other variables are consistent. Right now I am eating, and I mean eating. I was 10 stone 3lbs 6 months ago and only started properly eating and training 3 months ago. I have used a different product for the first section and now I am using MyProtein, which I am about 1/3 of the way through. I'm now a heafty 11 stone 6lbs - the heaviest I have ever been. I think about half of the extra mass has come along in the last month or so, so probably half of that was gained under the influence of this product. So effectiveness? Who knows. I have 3 a day and I am gaining. But I also eat, today for example: porridge and a juice for breakfast, a shake, 5 roast potatoes and a portion of chicken, and an apple and banana - that's snack. After a quickie work out I had a corned beef and cheese toastie with thick bread plus a shake for lunch. A large bowl of rice and some grapes for an afternoon snack. Tonight after a work out I shall have a main meal, probably salmon and rice. And a shake. And if I can fit it in, a bowl of cereal an hour before bed. So I don't know if this works at all or how effective it is compared to other products. I was hoping to be about 13 stone by now but life apparently doesn't work that way - I think I naturally have the skinny gene....
What I can rate is mixability and taste . It's not great in full fat milk, bit lumpy and frothy. But it is pretty pleasant to drink. In water it mixes well, but tastes like I imagine licking a slug would taste, But hey, just knock it back and get going. I got the tasteless one for the extra protein, if I want a nice drink I'll grab a beer, but I'm on a mission here... I have found leaving it after a good shake for 5 minutes, just to sit (maybe give the occasional extra shake) gives it time to disolve better. If I'm in a hurry though, I'd just neck it in water.
I gave 5 stars because it was well priced at about 40 bob for 5kg, plus I got 20 quid cashback (yet to be recieved but not expected yet). It's at least a placebo that keeps me focused, if not a great source of extra protein. It's just horrid enough to convince me it's good and my mates like it too. I would definitely buy it again.Goes Well With:Water. I have wondered about sprinkling some on my porridge - couldn't hurt right??
- (19 / Oct / 2013)
Excellent bang for your buck here. Mixes well and tastes great with milk.
Don't be fooled..
- (15 / Oct / 2013)
In this day of protein obsession, 60% whey protein may sound inferior, well it's not. The complexities of building lean muscle require a balance, and this Essential Whey 60 is perfect for an after workout protein shake, probably delivering far more protein than your body can utilise in one go, but also delivering just as valuable carbs to replenish the glycogen lost in your muscles during your workout, and I would much rather have this source of carbs than maltodextrin/dextrose, so if you want to get bigger, or recover faster, get on this astonishing value-for-money whey protein 60, it's the best all in one you will ever need.Goes Well With:Water
- (15 / Oct / 2013)
Essential Whey 60 has the perfect blend of protein and nutrients, and blends well. I got the natural flavour, which on it's own tastes very well, but with the flavoured drops this makes a smashing taste, affordable and very effective. Another good product from MyProtein.Goes Well With:Flavored drops, pancakes, flapjacks and ice cream.
Exactly what you'd expect
- (15 / Oct / 2013)
There's nothing extraordinary about Essential Whey 60, it is what it is and that is a standard whey and it does its job brilliantly. It tastes good, even the unflavoured, mixes fine and is easy to get down. I definitely recommend to anyone looking for improvements in their physique.Goes Well With:Milk, water
- (14 / Oct / 2013)
Essential Whey 60 is cheap, but does not mix as well as it should.
Unflavoured does not equal flavour free!
- (14 / Oct / 2013)
I'm probably not the best market for this product as I don't like milkshake... However I sometimes struggle to keep my protein intake up, and having loathed the overly sweet versions of whey that I tried, thought this might be worth a go and I could mix it with yogurt or something.
Unfortunately, the taste is almost undisguisable, sitting somewhere between dried milk powder and milk which is just on the turn, it comes through almost any disguise.
The only way I have come up with to make this chuggable/tolerable if not pleasant is to mix a dry scoop with a tablespoon of cocoa powder and a half tablespoon of chocolate milkshake powder. Add just enough milk to mix up (without a shaker this tends to grittiness), leave for a few minutes for the worst of the froth to go down, then add enough milk to a fairly smooth drinkable texture (too little and it is unpleasantly slimy like phlegm). Hold your breath, tip it up and swallow it down in about 3 gulps.
The cocoa seems to help stop the aftertaste (both in the mouth and the inevitable burps) from being too overwhelming.
Goes Well With:self flagellation. Also cocoa powder.
Great, vanilla a no go
- (08 / Oct / 2013)
Love this website, low prices for quality supplements. This protein is brilliant although I would not recommend the vanilla flavour. It doesn't mix well and has a very bland taste... but obviously its about quality over taste. 100% recommend this product, which I also take along with the total whey. ThanksGoes Well With:Total whey
Not what i expected
- (08 / Oct / 2013)
I expected this mixature to give me more of a boost than it did. It helped me through the day but not as much for development. Given that, it was only a trial for the essential whey 60.
Use to drink with water and a good starter mix.Goes Well With:Water or milk really
- (07 / Oct / 2013)
Unbelievable value for money. It tastes great and is easy to mix. I will definitely be buying some more!
- (07 / Oct / 2013)
Tastes great however 1kg only lasted me a week so effectiveness can't be judged on that.Goes Well With:Oats
- (06 / Oct / 2013)
The unflavoured tasted horrible. No way it just takes like milk. I have tried to mix it with all kinds of stuff, but it is still bad...
Goes Well With:Nothing..
- (04 / Oct / 2013)
This whey is fabulous. Having used another, more expensive high street brand, I have been delighted with the price and the results. Vanilla is fantastic especially when mixed with semi skimmed milk. A real winner. Fantastic delivery too.
- (02 / Oct / 2013)
I had previously used Impact Whey Protein which mixed well and the flavour was great. Due to cost cutting and wanting to maintain tone and not bulk I decided to use unflavoured Essential Whey 60 as a snack between meals. I mixed it with semi-skimmed milk and it tasted fine. There was a mild, artificial creaminess about the flavour when mixed with milk but I did not find it unpleasant. Essential Whey 60 didn't mix as well as Impact Whey and I watered down the extra froth when I got to the end of the drink to ensure I consumed every last drop. I can't comment on the effectiveness as it played only one part of my exercise and diet plan. However, I would not do without a whey protein and this purchase was definitely based on cost as I could not find a better value option.Goes Well With:Semi-skimmed milk but probably tastes fine with water.
- (01 / Oct / 2013)
Essential Whey 60 is a great product (and I received fast delivery). I will be buying this again. Goes Well With:blended with milk, strawberries, blueberries and banana
