I'm new to all this protein shake stuff so didn't really know what to expect. Delivery was very quick, came next day even though I didnt pay for that service (ordered early). I accidentally ordered the Strawberry Cream which I tried initally with milk but it was too sweet. I found it best mixed with water and I was surprised how nice it was, just as good as a milkshake you could buy in the shops, very nice.

5* Results !

Although the unflavoured version and mixability of it is not really that good, I do feel that changing from the no carbs version of the protein I used to consume is truly making a difference. I use it daily with my breakfast, be it with skim milk or low fat yoghurt, pre and post workout with water or skim milk. I would strongly advise you to go for the flavoured version though, since the smell and taste of the mixture + that it doesnt get completely dissolved, may turn your stomach upside down, unless of course you get used to it, like I did. If by any chance you still wanna go for the unflavoured version, try mixing it with something that has a sweet taste, like juice. It's a great and crucial supplement for anyone hitting the gym, from amateurs to professionals.

Goes Well With:

Milk, Water, Juice, Yoghurt.

Been using whey protein for about a year and jus started using this to put on the extra carbs, got unflavoured cos it's so much cheaper and you can mix this with much more like fruit juice rather than just water or milk. 10/10

- (25 / Mar / 2014)

For cheap protein you can't fault it. Mixing seems to vary dependent on the amount of water/milk etc. used in the shaker and what else you throw in. Sometimes mixes great, other times a little clumpy, but put a bit more liquid in and get it down you.

Goes Well With:

Water/milk/almond milk.

I purchased the Strawberry flavor, previously had chocolate flavor. Taste: Average, tasted like strawberries but still a bit of chemically flavor which is bound to happen. Tastes good with milk however it becomes very thick like milkshake. Mixability: Pretty poor to be honest, even after a good few minutes shaking there were still clumps. Effectiveness: Noticed a size increase and it worked well, however I have a good diet. Overall: Good for starting out and on a budget however next time I'm going for at least 80% partly for the larger range of flavours but also the higher protein content and lower carbs.

Great product. Plain and simple, good for rebuilding muscles after a workout with decent quality protein and a nice side of carbs for energy. It mixes better than most powders I've had before, the taste is fine (strawberry), and I've noticed positive gains more with this protein than anything else I've tried. Big thumbs up, I'll be getting more of it very soon.

People complaining about the taste really need to try Hydrolyzed whey or even BCAA's or EAA's. Those are the most disgusting tasting things you could imagine. The taste is rather bland, kind of a milky taste tbh, I just mix it with water and drink it quite easily. The people complaining about the foam, simply add more water, you will have a lot less foam. next to none if the ratio is correct. A balanced ratio of carbs and protein which is a lot healthier than dextrose or simple carbs. The body needs a balance and this is a great 'snack' and after gym mix

Goes Well With:

water - lots of water to avoid foaming

This product does everything it says on the tin (or pouch). Very good value for money when you consider that other WPC products on the market produced by designer label sports nutrition companies are only a little above 70% protein yet three times the price. The only criticism would be the mixability which is poor. It will fully mix in a shaker cup after vigorous shaking but you're then with a foam that sits on top for about 10 minutes. If you try to just mix by whisking with a fork it just goes lumpy. Bottom line: great tasting, great value whey protein just be patient on the mixing front.

The best aspect of this powder is that it is the cheapest I was able to find online, and it's close to being as good as most others out there. It tastes good (I recommend Vanilla) but the mixing can vary; sometimes there are huge clumps left in my shaker, sometimes not, but there are always a few little grains left unmixed at the end. Also, the protein content (15g per scoop) is less than others I have tried in the past (up to 20g per scoop). Overall, good for the price, but you can find better for a bit more money if so inclined.

Goes Well With:

Tastes good with milk or water.

Got a 5kg bag unflavoured and finished it in just over a month. Mixes perfectly, tastes just like milk even when mixed with water. Can add flavours if needed. Noticed added mass right away. Mix it in with food! I made protein cakes with this stuff! Mix a shake and dump it on cereals. Mixes well with green drinks and loads of stuff, very versatile! Recommended!

Whey 60 - don't do it

I ordered this Essential Whey 60 because it was slightly cheaper than the impact. This was a mistake, I did not like this protein. It mixes poorly and has a nasty aftertaste with the unflavoured version. I normally add flavouring to my unflavoured protein, and did it here as well, but it did not mix well and I found it hard to stomach.

Good quality protein & carbs powder. I've used this religiously for a couple of months now and it does help with size/strength gains. If you use it 2-3 times a day, along with a good diet to support your muscle growth it'll definitely help you achieve your goals! I used the unflavoured option and added my own milkshake powder which works well and adds calories as it the milkshake powder is full of carbs. I just hope that My Protein bring out the same type of full-fat product i've concocted as I'm no too keen on sweeteners.

I got passed the website address from some guys who have been buying some Whey products, they were using the Mass product as they were bodybuilding but for myself I needed something for my training ie boxing. I had lost a lot of weight but wanted to gain some back but not really change my diet so I bought some Essential Whey 60 which gives me the protein and carbs I needed. So far its working great as I am gaining weight and muscle not fat; I bought the Vanilla one which I mix 50/50 with semi skimmed milk and water. Great product and better still great customer service. Many thanks Ian (Tyson) Triggs.

Superb. Really enjoyed it, great product. Although I did find the chocolate flavor really quite sweet when mixed with water. And this is coming from a guy who likes 3 spoons of sugar in his tea! I'd still recommend it though. And I can't speak highly enough of My Protein, the only place I'd go for protein/fitness/health and well-being products.

Great stuff! I think...

- (21 / Oct / 2013)

I have decided to review the bit that mattered to me as much as I can, but the fact is I really can't. And then elaborated on the suggested review topics. Firstly, I'm pretty new to this protein shake stuff - in that I have had a few varieties over the years but not while the other variables are consistent. Right now I am eating, and I mean eating. I was 10 stone 3lbs 6 months ago and only started properly eating and training 3 months ago. I have used a different product for the first section and now I am using MyProtein, which I am about 1/3 of the way through. I'm now a heafty 11 stone 6lbs - the heaviest I have ever been. I think about half of the extra mass has come along in the last month or so, so probably half of that was gained under the influence of this product. So effectiveness? Who knows. I have 3 a day and I am gaining. But I also eat, today for example: porridge and a juice for breakfast, a shake, 5 roast potatoes and a portion of chicken, and an apple and banana - that's snack. After a quickie work out I had a corned beef and cheese toastie with thick bread plus a shake for lunch. A large bowl of rice and some grapes for an afternoon snack. Tonight after a work out I shall have a main meal, probably salmon and rice. And a shake. And if I can fit it in, a bowl of cereal an hour before bed. So I don't know if this works at all or how effective it is compared to other products. I was hoping to be about 13 stone by now but life apparently doesn't work that way - I think I naturally have the skinny gene.... What I can rate is mixability and taste . It's not great in full fat milk, bit lumpy and frothy. But it is pretty pleasant to drink. In water it mixes well, but tastes like I imagine licking a slug would taste, But hey, just knock it back and get going. I got the tasteless one for the extra protein, if I want a nice drink I'll grab a beer, but I'm on a mission here... I have found leaving it after a good shake for 5 minutes, just to sit (maybe give the occasional extra shake) gives it time to disolve better. If I'm in a hurry though, I'd just neck it in water. I gave 5 stars because it was well priced at about 40 bob for 5kg, plus I got 20 quid cashback (yet to be recieved but not expected yet). It's at least a placebo that keeps me focused, if not a great source of extra protein. It's just horrid enough to convince me it's good and my mates like it too. I would definitely buy it again.

Water. I have wondered about sprinkling some on my porridge - couldn't hurt right??

In this day of protein obsession, 60% whey protein may sound inferior, well it's not. The complexities of building lean muscle require a balance, and this Essential Whey 60 is perfect for an after workout protein shake, probably delivering far more protein than your body can utilise in one go, but also delivering just as valuable carbs to replenish the glycogen lost in your muscles during your workout, and I would much rather have this source of carbs than maltodextrin/dextrose, so if you want to get bigger, or recover faster, get on this astonishing value-for-money whey protein 60, it's the best all in one you will ever need.

I'm probably not the best market for this product as I don't like milkshake... However I sometimes struggle to keep my protein intake up, and having loathed the overly sweet versions of whey that I tried, thought this might be worth a go and I could mix it with yogurt or something. Unfortunately, the taste is almost undisguisable, sitting somewhere between dried milk powder and milk which is just on the turn, it comes through almost any disguise. The only way I have come up with to make this chuggable/tolerable if not pleasant is to mix a dry scoop with a tablespoon of cocoa powder and a half tablespoon of chocolate milkshake powder. Add just enough milk to mix up (without a shaker this tends to grittiness), leave for a few minutes for the worst of the froth to go down, then add enough milk to a fairly smooth drinkable texture (too little and it is unpleasantly slimy like phlegm). Hold your breath, tip it up and swallow it down in about 3 gulps. The cocoa seems to help stop the aftertaste (both in the mouth and the inevitable burps) from being too overwhelming.

Goes Well With:

self flagellation. Also cocoa powder.
