What is Creatine Ethyl Ester?
Creatine Ethyl Ester (CEE) is a more effective variant of the popular dietary supplement Creatine Monohydrate. As the Creatine Monohydrate has been attached to an ester salt it is generally easier for the body to absorb it when combined to alternative sources.
Creatine Ethyl Ester Benefits
CEE helps provide a quick boost of ATP to the working muscles which in turn facilitates improvements in lean mass, strength and power. Easy to use providing fantastic results, Creatine Ethyl Ester is recommended to anyone who wants to improve their physique and sporting performance with no side effects.
Creatine Ethyl Ester is an advanced supplement that takes the basic Creatine Monohydrate and boosts its constitution with the addition of ester salts. These ester salts make it more easily absorbed and ease uptake by your cells. Some of the benefits of CEE over traditional forms of Creatine are related to the fact that smaller doses are required to get the same effect, whilst the bloating and preloading phase are eliminated.
If you don't like the taste of Creatine Ethyl Ester powder, why not try our CEE Tablets?
Who is Creatine Ethyl Ester suitable for?
CEE is perfect for athletes looking to improve strength, power and lean mass. It is a great option for those who suffer bloating or discomfort from other forms of creatine.
When should I take Creatine Ethyl Ester?
We suggest you take Creatine Ethyl Ester around 1 hour before a workout. On non-workout days take at the same time as a workout day. After 4-6 weeks of continued use take 1-2 week off and start period again.
Add one heaped MP small scoop (3g) to water, shake and consume. Use 1 hour before a workout. On non-workout days take at the same time as a workout day. After 4-6 weeks of continued use take 1-2 week off and start period again.
1 x level MP Plastic Scoop (small) weighs 2.5g. (not included).

Best valued Creatine I have brought to date and it works out cheaper than Monohydrate in the long run, as you use less per serving per day and thus it will last you over twice as long. Also noticed strength gain after only 1 week of use!
The only downside is it's "unflavoured" taste (it's rank, but just neck it), either way, I will still only buy the unflavoured version, as you get more Creatine per serving, instead of flavourings added.
- (23 / Jan / 2014)
It tastes horrible, like acid, but just down it with a little water or juice. It disolves really good when you compare it with plain monohydrate, and there is no aftertaste if you drink or eat something right after taking it.
As far as preformance goes, it does what is expected, more strength, more pump, more muscle. I also respond to monohydrate very good, but it gives me somach and intestinal troubles quite often. Wtih CEE HCL i have no such problems.
So bottom line, STOP whining about tase! Take it like a man, train hard, and you'll see results!

I was a little anxious before ordering this, having read the extensive catalogue of complaints about the rancid taste and poor mixability. I was expecting to be greeted with fetid lumps of half-decomposed nuclear excrement, but instead opened the packet to find a near-odourless sanitized white powder. The powder took no more than three seconds to dissolve completely in a small glass of water, and the mixture was down the hatch less than a second later. I chased it with a glass of squash, but this wasn't 100% necessary. Though you wouldn't serve this stuff at your wedding, I am a little bemused as to the amount of noise about the taste. As for the effect, after two days, there has been a marked improvement in energy levels, to an extent that I have not noticed with Monohydrate. Goes Well With:Tonsils
- (13 / Jan / 2014)
Think pretty much everyone has said how bad this tastes and it certainly ranks amongst the most vile things I have ever eaten or drunk. That said it is effective and works rapidly - anyone who has taken creatine monohydrate will notice how quickly this kicks in in comparison. Ultimately you're gonna spend 5mins a week enduring the taste and hours working out so choke it down and enjoy the benefits. Goes Well With:Chewing gum to take the taste away.
- (06 / Dec / 2013)
Does exactly what it says. Can work for some may not work for all worked for me as an athlete.
taste is god awful
- (05 / Nov / 2013)
What can I say its a good product but it tastes like acid. Take it as a shot with some lime or lemon juice to reduce the after taste. My suggestion would be spend a little more and buy it in tablet form.
- (03 / Nov / 2013)
Tastes foul but you quickly get used to it and eases off a little when mixed with either some whey or a pint of fruit cordial. 5 weeks into using it and I can tolerate the taste now. May take a minute or so to fully dissolve when mixed and the product will settle in it's packaging so you'll need to break up the lumps that are formed.
Performance wise I feel stronger when working out, always feel like I can fit one more set in or push out that final rep when I'm getting fatigued. I've never used creatine mono so can't compare the effectiveness to that but CEE works well for me and is one of my essential supplements along with BCAA and arginine.Goes Well With:Whey/BCAA/Arginine
- (03 / Oct / 2013)
Timing this product correctly and staying in a calorie surplus will provide noticeable results over a calorie surplus alone. The only downside to this product is the bitter taste. You do get used to the taste after a few days though.
- (14 / Sep / 2013)
Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL is the best creatine out there, the way I got around the bad taste was to mix it with blackcurrant cordial. I have the creatine in around 500ml water and add 100ml cordial it takes a few goes before you start getting used to it, and just think of it as a sour cordial drink. But in all seriousness, man up and down it! It's worth it in the end.Goes Well With:blackcurrant cordial with water
- (14 / Sep / 2013)
I have tried Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL and found it tastes awful but taken with fruit juice and palatinose which is sweet it tastes great with no after taste and also works fantastic.Goes Well With:fruit juice and palatinose
CEE - Review.
- (27 / Aug / 2013)
First things first, lets talk about the taste. CEE contains amino acids and as such, has a very strong acidic taste. It is not pleasant to drink with water. However I have found it bearable to drink with Grapefruit Juice.
Once you get over the taste you can enjoy the benefit of fast absorption and an increase in energy and strength.
If you are in doubt about the taste and don't mind waiting a week or two to fully absorb the creatine, go for a standard Monohydrate which is flavorless.Goes Well With:Grapefruit & Orange Juice.
Does what is says on the tin
- (26 / Aug / 2013)
Despite the unpleasant taste of this Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL it seems to be working well. It took a few days for my body to get used to it but I seem to be seeing a difference in the gym. Very pleased so far.Goes Well With:Squash. Strong squash!
- (26 / Aug / 2013)
In my opinion, the taste of this Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL is not amazing but if you just down it, it won't matter. I felt stronger and like I could go for longer when I used this and I have put on 3 pounds already in just 2 weeks! I would defiantly buy this again - it's a great product and great value.

- (20 / Aug / 2013)
I first started using Creatine Ethyl Ester 5 years ago and I noticed a total change in the way I worked out within a week. I found that I could train longer and gained size quite quickly, so I was very happy with the result.
Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL
- (19 / Aug / 2013)
Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL tastes absolutely disgusting! That is if you make the mistake of choosing the unflavoured pouch!
How to take CEE
- (18 / Aug / 2013)
I have found this Protein Dessert works great, however it tastes rancid. I have tried adding it to various squashes, juices and shakes and found the best method is to empty the spoon of CEE on the back of my tongue and immediately take a gulp of lemon squash to wash it straight down and then finish off with the of the pint of squash. The taste is then isolated to the back of the tongue instead of the whole mouth.
- (18 / Aug / 2013)
The taste of Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL is awful. I use neat Ribena and a spoon of glucosse and neck it, it's well worth the nasty taste.
- (11 / Jul / 2013)
I've used Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL now for the 2nd time and it's great although the taste isn't good and it can play a little on your body. There are 4 golden rules to go by and you'll have no trouble what so ever. Eat before you use it (stops the creatine coming straight out the other end), mix it with juice or lemonade (take 20 mins before work out to allow gas out if using lemonade or coke). Drink it through a straw (the last batch gave me mouth ulcers so went off it, I used a straw this time and no problems), train hard and drink plenty of water.
Using them rules, I find it brilliant, with great gains and good pump and it's also good to mix with or have along side it a small can of Red Bull or the cheap version I get from Asda.Goes Well With:protein
Happy with results so far
- (17 / Jun / 2013)
Yes, the taste of Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL is bad. Mix it with pure orange juice, about 10ml of liquid is enough. Have another cup of drink (squash) ready beside you. Knock the creatine back like a shot, then grab the cup of squash rinse it round your mouth then swallow. It is not that bad. It gives great recovery, lots of energy, and no side effects. It does make you feel stronger. Goes Well With:Pure juice
- (22 / May / 2013)
Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL is the best supplement I've taken so far. I have noticed results with about a week of taking it. I mix 5 grams with 500ml of water and add some strong double concentrate cordial to take the the foul taste away this still leaves a bad after taste but does a good job of eliminating the bad taste. Goes Well With:Very strong cordial juice
Creatine Ethyl Ester
- (21 / May / 2013)
Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL is foul, and you pull a face like you're sucking on a lemon, but I've found if you mix it with cranberry juice and neck it back, and have a mouthful of juice straight after it's OK. The taste doesn't linger, and now I don't mind taking it at all.Goes Well With:Cranberry Juice
Creatine ethyl ester
- (01 / May / 2013)
The first time I had this Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL on its own, it's vile and hard to drink. I wasn't expecting anything else really. The second time I mixed it with Jack 3D, which is sickly sweet and 200ml of water so both seemed to even each other out. There is still a touch of after taste there but you just have to man up I guess. I've been using it for a few weeks now and I seem to be making considerable gains for the price.Goes Well With:Anything to blend out the taste
- (28 / Apr / 2013)
Never have I ever tasted something as vile as this Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL! The mix-ability is great as it dissolves straight away, however, I was unprepared for the taste that comes with it, and as a result, I covered my sink in protein shake, after spitting it out. I ordered it with the standard whey, I tried the strawberry cream flavour and I have never tasted a shake as good as that! Just like drinking yazoo. I had to add two heaped scoops instead of one with the creatine, just to making it bearable to drink. That said I'm going to try it with some strong cordial next time it's due. Goes Well With:Something very strong.
Worse taste imaginable
- (26 / Apr / 2013)
I have used the Creatine Ethyl Ester pills before and they certainly work better than creatine monohydrate, in my opinion, so I thought I'd buy the powder.
It is the worst tasting thing I have ever tried to drink. I am not exaggerating when I say that drinking vodka mixed with bleach would probably taste better.
If you can handle downing half a cup of vodka-bleach before and after your workout, then you will be able to use this supplement fine. But if not, I would strongly advice you buy the tablet form.
I have since thrown this product away as it is unusable in my opinion. Truly disgusting taste!Goes Well With:Nothing can make this product not taste horrible, sorry.
- (26 / Apr / 2013)
I did think at first that people were exagerating the taste of this stuff but after trying it with water i now know they weren't. I found that i'm having to mix it with apple juice or orange juice to drink it but even then there is an aftertaste of it. The most annoying thing is that it comes like grip chalk, clumps of it that need real effort to break. That said it does dissolve fully quite well with juat some stiring.
- (12 / Apr / 2013)
I have tried many creatine forms in my 4 years of training and have found none of them giving me any benefits. I have tried creatine mono-hydrate, creatine glucose, etc. Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL tastes really bad but that doesn't bother me that much. I mix it with my Mutant Mass before a workout and after a workout. I have definitely noticed that you don't need to 'load up' like the other creatine forms. Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL has given me what I need from my workouts. Improved ongoing strength and power increase week by week. I can definitely recommend this to people looking to get stronger.Goes Well With:PVL- Mutant Mass
- (10 / Apr / 2013)
Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL tastes awful, but mix it with a protein drink 30mins before a work out and it works well, as there is no loading up it is very easy to cycle every 6 weeks or so. You can spend a fortune on loading up with normal creatine 5 times a day for a week, with this you can just stop and start no fuss.Goes Well With:Needs mixing in a strong tasting protein shake
- (08 / Apr / 2013)
I vomited the first time I tried Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL, and the second time I was gagging for about 20 minutes after. I'm sure it's great if you can swallow it.Goes Well With:no taste buds
Making them Gains
- (05 / Apr / 2013)
I usually use creatine mono but I saw this so I thought I would give it a try. I mixed it in with my protein shake and was shocked by the taste! I don't know why I wasn't expecting it to be salty after reading the description, I suppose I have myself to blame.
I can't get it down my neck, it makes me gag. But I gave it to my mate and he has said it makes a massive difference. So it depends on your gag reflex I guess! If I was to use this product again it would have to be tabs!Goes Well With:A bucket!
Works for me
- (31 / Mar / 2013)
Overall, Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL is good. I am taking it with MyProtein Whey (Unflavoured). I gave 4 stars for effectiveness. It does work. I feel good energy and pump whilst working out in the gym. Mix-ability is fine, you are not going to use more than 6-10 grams a day so there is no problem. Just add some juice and shake it and it's done. However there are big lumps in the packets which you may have to break with a fork or spoon at the end when you have used the powder. It tastes awful though. Don't think of taking it just in water, you have to add a strong flavour to it or else you won't be able to get it down.
Beast mode engaged
- (29 / Mar / 2013)
Yes the taste of Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL is horrible, but believe me, it is such a small price! You can easily overtake it. I take 3-5g of this creatine in a bit of concentrated orange juice and swallow it really fast with a cup of water. I don't even notice the taste. This product is amazing. You can really tell the difference and I have tried a lot of creatines before.Goes Well With:Some concentrated orange juice to avoid the bad taste.
bit of a mix up
- (27 / Mar / 2013)
this creatine works very well preventing bloating and helping lean muscle grow but tastes horrible, take with a bitter drink like lemon to mask the taste .but overall a really good priced product which if taken regulary will help you get ahead quicker !!Goes Well With:lemon, grapefruit
- (25 / Mar / 2013)
The taste of Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL is pretty bad, but I highly recommend this product as my performance in the gym has definitely improved. I always seem to get those last reps now. Also, a tip for mixing - get a shot glass and put your creatine in, then boil some water and pour it in. It dissolves fully with no lumps.
- (25 / Mar / 2013)
I can't tell if the product is accounting for my growth as I'm on a number of supplements. It is definitely convenient to take in this form but it really does taste salty which I have to disguise with powdered sweetener. Guess I shouldn't moan - no pain no gain.Goes Well With:Something very sweet or strong tasting.
- (21 / Mar / 2013)
Ok, so to everyone below who commented on the taste.... Yes it is the most disgusting thing you will have to swallow, but that is the way that Ethyl Ester Creatine taste, no way around it I am afraid. It does get easier with time. The best way I found is to carefully tip over a spoonfull of creatine as far back on your tongue as possible ( past the taste buds), keep the tongue very still and then quickly swallow it down with a gulp of sweet squash. Tick! Done!. As for the affect of the product... Awsome! I cannot go without it. Recovery is fast, the pump during and after training is amazing and if you stay on it, you tend to keep some of that training pump the rest of the day. I have been on it for a year now and the results are brilliant. Water retention is 0. Energy levels increase a lot. So comon guys, man up and get it down! You will not be disappointed.Goes Well With:Nothing, the trick is to get it down the way I mentioned above......
- (20 / Mar / 2013)
The Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL tastes discusting in my opinion! Avoid it at all measure..
Waste of my money!Goes Well With:Nothing
- (19 / Mar / 2013)
Words do not describe the foul taste. It's recommended to mix with your protein shake or sprinkle over you porridge. Good luck with that. How you people can bare the taste is beyond me (Unless I had a dodgy batch). Best way to consume is to place 3g into a glass and pour 50ml water in, mix well, hold nose and shot it down. Goes Well With:Cyanide
st. Francis of Assisi
- (18 / Mar / 2013)
Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL is an alright product. I have not noticed any strength gains, but at least it doesn't bloat the user like Monohydrate. It tastes like poison, literally like something that should be avoided. It's OK but not astonishing. I will use my 2kgs of it though and hopefully will see some gains in strength. Even though it tastes like turpentine mixed with formaldehyde and bitrex, I think it would make a good pre-deadlift tonic, much like ammonia salts that people sniff. Carry some around mixed with water when at the gym and sip it before you lift, even if it does not make you stronger, it sure as heck will wake you up due to the foulness of it! Goes Well With:Castrol GTX
- (13 / Mar / 2013)
I have rated this Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL as a 3 for now as I have only just purchased it. My initial test led me to think that something wasn't quite right, the taste. I thought I had been sent something that is used for cleaning purposes not human consumption. Anyway, after cursing myself and Myprotein I thought that there must be some reviews on this crazy substance! Hey presto, everyone's taste buds are tingling! Thanks for all the reviews which has made me feel a little more confident in taking this supplement, lets hope it's worth it!Goes Well With:not found out yet, tried it with water, ouch! never again
- (12 / Mar / 2013)
Taste is terrible. But who cares? The effectiveness is amazing.
In weight training I push more and harder. I add more reps and it helps give me the extra boost on the few final reps that's vitally needed. I still feel after a session I want to go back and do it again. It helps me recover quicker to.
In Thai boxing training I punch, knee and kick stronger and I push harder throughout. Again it gives me that extra boost needed, I don't feel as drained as much and I recover quicker for the next day. My size has certainly gained and I look a lot leaner too.
My advice would be to mix your chosen measurement in a small quantity of water an hour before your training session, stir it until it dissolves and then neck it back like a shot of sambuca or something... Boom! Short sweet and simple.
Remember to keep really hydrated everyday as creatine can harm the liver if you don't. The monohydrate creatine is crap at mixing, it's gritty and doesn't digest properly, nor gets into your system as easily. Waste of my time. It did nothing for me in the past. Creatine Ethyl Ester is the bomb. Ignore the taste and reap in the benefits. Nothing that's good for you tastes good anyway. That's what I tell myself. Hope this helps.
Good Product, Taste Is Terrifying
- (11 / Mar / 2013)
Cannot fault the effectiveness of the product, only small qualm is the taste.
Back in 2003, Iraq was invaded, the purpose? To find and destroy Saddam Hussein's chemical weapon repository. They found nothing. The reason for this was in fact because all chemical and biological concoctions were formed into a power and sold to humans labelled CEE HCL. It tastes awful.
Best advice - either stick to creatine mono, or buy CEE in pill form. Kudos to you if you can handle the taste of this stuff.
Goes Well With:Chemical Warfare.
- (11 / Mar / 2013)
As a user of creatine monohydrate I thought I would change and try this product just to mix things up. As monohydrate has zero taste the initial taste of this product was shocking, the taste is so strong and over powering, and to be honest I have to drink or eat something soon after consuming to take the taste away. As for the performance though it is great, I have noticed a real increase in performance since taking this substance, and so regardless of taste I would recommend this product, no pain no gain right.
top notch supp
- (11 / Mar / 2013)
I have used this for the first time and i must say, what a difference, there is a lot of trash talk about ethyl ester online but it work great for me. I will buy this product again. Everyone moans about the taste of this product but lets be honest, does it really matter if you get the gains? Nope.
Goes Well With: I used warm water and lemon juice to kill the taste.
To soon too tell
- (11 / Mar / 2013)
I wanted to review more regarding the taste than anything else as have only had 2 gym sessions on this product since its recent purchase so reviewing its effectiveness would be premature.
I was hesitant to get the product due to the reviews of its taste, people saying they could take it and threw it await etc..
I just wanted to say that it really is not that bad! ... You wouldn't choose to drink the stuff but mixed in to fruit juice or even water and necked back as a shot, its not too bad. - Just have a second drink at hand to loose the after taste.
CheersGoes Well With:Fruit Juice or Water - just get it down you quickly.
Who cares what it tastes like!!
- (08 / Mar / 2013)
I do 1/2 kg of CEE then revert back to a 1/2 kg phase of "normal" creatine as I get diminishing returns after a long bout of CEE. As with everything in training.... keep mixing it up!
Get it down your neck!!Goes Well With:orange juice
- (07 / Mar / 2013)
Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL tastes horrible, I felt very ill after taking.
useful but not for the weak pallated
- (06 / Mar / 2013)
Firstly the bad: when Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL is mixed with water, it's like trying to drink down a bottle of bleach with potassium powder and salt added; less than pleasant! It won't make you gag, it will just make you wonder if it's suitable for human consumption and force you to pull contorted faces, like licking a lemon while rubbing salt in your eye.
However, if mixed with blackcurrant squash it seems to become far more tolerable. Don't try adding it to a protein shake though, it just makes it worse!
Now for the good: Having used this for a couple of weeks now, taking one scoop a day, I have noticed some decent increases in muscular endurance. Not so much strength itself, but I'm able to keep the same weight going for more reps/ sets than previous. It's definitely a noticeable increase, and certainly worth the the money I paid for it.
To conclude; if you don't mind drinking bleach, and you've hit a plateau, then this is a worth while purchase. If you struggle to chug a regular shake, then don't bother with this!
- (06 / Mar / 2013)
Tastes horrible. But that's not what you use it for.
- (13 / Dec / 2012)
"bought the unflavoured 1kg pack - first impressions - yuk ! it tastes really bad, as others have said, need to look for a very strong taste to cover the horrid chemical flavour. my pack also full of solid lumps that I had to break down with a fork before I could measure it - seems very effective, just need to find something to cover that taste !!"
- (09 / Dec / 2012)
"Have bought and tried monohydrate and creapure before, this version of creatine is much the same in terms of effectiveness. However you only need 3g as opposed to 5-10g of others, meaning a product that lasts longer but is as good as the others available. The taste makes shakes taste slightly bitter, nothing major or unpleasant but definitely noticeable. But on the whole a very good value and effective product."
