An athlete’s hydration levels can have a direct impact on athletic performance, if an athlete becomes dehydrated it can impair their overall

performance. It is therefore important for all those participating in exercise, especially endurance based exercise including: running, cycling and 

triathlon to consider hydration when constructing tailored nutrition and exercise plans. 

It should be understood that drinking water alone may not be the most effective method of fluid intake to boost hydration levels. Drinking water

with carbohydrates such as Fructose or Maltodextrin can encourage consumption, whereas including electrolytes can aid in water retention.
