Overview

Soy Protein Isolate boasts the highest protein content of any soy protein powder. Our Soy Protein Isolate is made from 100% NON-GMO defatted soy beans suing a stringent process which removes a vast majority of the fat and carbohydrate content. The resulting product yields over 90% protein content with minimal fat and carbohydrate, whilst being completely free of lactose.

Soy Protein Isolate is the ideal choice for vegetarians, vegans and those with special dietary requirements such as lactose intolerance. Soy Protein Isolate unfairly gets labelled as inferior to other high-end proteins such as Whey Protein, but is in fact a complete protein source so it sits equally alongside other protein sources such as Whey and Milk. Its moderate rate of digestion makes it a great accompaniment to Whey Protein

Soy Protein Isolate does NOT affect estrogen production as suggested by a number of unfounded myths. In a number of studies looking at such issues, there was no reported difference between those that use Soy Protein and those that don't.

Soy Protein Isolate is the closest vegetable protein that resembles meat proteins and boasts an excellent amino acid profile.

Soy Protein Isolate has a neutral flavour compared to other soy products and is FREE of Lactose and Gluten and is also GM free.

The amino acid profile can be found at the bottom of the page under 'Certificates'.

Key Benefits

  • Rich in key amino acids
  • Could reduce risk of heart disease and lower cholesterol
  • Regarded as a complete protein

I started using this after having my gallbladder removed last year (i previously used whey isolate) and have noticed a huge difference. When taking whey products i felt bloated and heavy but after switching from dairy products to soy (milk, yoghurt etc) and using soy protein i feel leaner and much healthier but still keep the same amount of muscle. The taste isnt as nice as whey but the health benefits outweigh the slightly poorer taste.

It is very difficult for me to drink it unflavoured. However when i mix some Flavouring Drops (Banana flavour) it transforms into a tasty thick shake. So just to be on the safe side if you go with the unflavoured version, buy a bottle of F drops.

also lactose intolerant, ive tried other protien shakes such as pea which was rank to say the least. have used soy a few times, the chocolate is very good and is easy to drink, the plain has a chalky texture and a weird taste but can be mixed to get a better shake. i use 30g of soy and 3g of coca with a teaspoon of sugar and a third of a banana and it tastes better than the chocolate flavor with a huge saving

Being lactose intolerant this is a godsend - Ok, the mix-ability and taste isn't the best in the world, but it's a lot better than many whey based proteins I've spent much more £'s on (prior to being lactose intolerant). Currently I've only used the vanilla, I do find it incredibly sweet and after the first shake I really didn't think I'd make it through the pouch, now a week later and I've grown to love the taste. What I would say however, is, this shake mixes to a very thick consistency (using the MP large scoop) I find myself using around 350ml of water to achieve a consistent similar to a standard powdered milkshake. I'll definitely be giving the other flavours a try.

unfortunately this product is not for me, the taste and texture is dreadful, to me it tastes like there is sand in my shake or as though I have added flour to milk and chocolate, im drinking it because I spent money on it, it is not expensive at all, but be prepared to hold your nose 2-3 times a day when drinking this. On the plus side it has shown results and it does fill you up during the day. Even though the taste is awful it does make a good breakfast substitute when on the go and haven't got time.

Bought 5kg of this slow release protein. Comparing this with Whey (both unflavoured), Soy Isolate doesn't dissolve as well and also produces much more foam (using the MP Ball Shakers for both). IMO Whey has a milder, neutral taste whereas Soy Isolate tastes like grainy wheatgerm and has a bitter aftertaste, nothing like eating soya. If you man up, it's fine. STIR/blend this when mixing, don't shake or it'll foam up.

I don't know what MP have done to their Soy Protein but they have definitely changed something. I used to buy this from them a couple of years ago and it was pretty much identical to whey in consistency. But now I would say it has the consistency and taste of semolina. I have to use twice the amount of water to make it drinkable.I used to love this but now it actually makes me feel ill. I have tried masking it with MP flavour drops but the pasty texture is still there. I don't know if I have received a dodgy batch (and I apologise MP if this is not the case), but i am only a quarter of the way through 5KG of the stuff and I'm gutted. On the other hand their own flavoured Soy Protein is completely different... that is a joy to drink, so sadly I will have to spend more and keep buying their own flavoured Soy in the future.

Some of the other reviews here say it doesn't blend or mix well. I'd like to counter that. I've switched from Whey Isolate to this after reading an article on their relative effectiveness which is now considered equal. I mix this in a blender with one banana, a small amount of frozen fruit and either milk or water. It blends *better*, yes that's right, better than Whey powders. It gives a very smooth texture and zero lumps. Conversely whey products froth up when I blend them more than a three or four seconds and never blend smoothly. For those guys saying it doesn't blend and is lumpy they need to change their blending method because I get great results. Mix the other ingredients and liquid first and add your powders last. Also, buy a Kitchenaid blender, they're much more expensive but nothing else compares and they last forever.

As an Asthmatic, I have to stay clear of Diary based foods (Food Allergy), so I am always on the lookout for alternatives to whey proteins( I have used Whey protein for several years) . I have tried egg white, brown rice, and pea protein. But I have to say that soy protein is the best of the lot. It mixes relatively well, its dose not taste that bad (compared to egg white powder) and I get excellent results, in terms of muscle development and recovery time. And there are several flavors available in 1kg bags. But I would like to see 2.5kg and 5kg flavor bags introduced, to I can bulk buy and save money. But I think the reason that My Protein will not sell flavors at these sizes, is because there is not enough demand to do so, from a business perspective. But never the less, an excellent alternative to whey, and possibly better!

I have just tried my first shake of this (natural flavour). I mixed it with half sweetened soya milk and half water. I also added a little of the options hazelnut flavour. It tasted really quite nice. I don't have a shaker so I mixed mine with one of those tiny little things that you make frappes with. It worked ok but I think I'm going to get a shaker now- and a scoop as I had to weigh it which is a pain. Obviously cannot comment on results yet! I really quite liked the taste to be honest.

Being a vegan, this is an excellent product. It mixes easy with a small hand held mixer and I was pleased to see that its content of Glutamic Acid - 80% in Soy and only 50% in Whey) content nearly double than that of Whey Isolate. I also do not mind the neutral taste. I need it for what it does, not what it tastes like.

In my honest opinion, this is the worst tasting protein I have ever tried. The mixability of this product is very poor if using a fork, didnt have a problem mixing with the whey protein, if you use a blender theres no issues with lumps. When drinking it, after mixing with a fork, its like drinking clay, regardless of how much water you use. Only going to use this until the end of the month as I'm trying to burn off some fat and wanted a protein powder with less fat/cards, more protein and less calories. Cant comment on effectiveness as this is my first week on it.

I am very pleased with the unflavoured variety of this product. Please note I use it as a food supplement as I have physical health problems. Also I am allergic to sugars and artificial sweeteners so maybe my tastes are a little different to other peoples ;o) but I find this product works best (taste and consistency) when mixed with organic soya milk, or occasionally if I need a protein top up, I mix it with soya milk and I add a little unflavoured greek style yoghurt . At home I use a blender, but when away from home I use a shaker. I did not like the result when I used water alone, and onceor twice I've had to use cow's milk and that wasn't a good mixer either. organic Soya Milk is definitely my preferred choice, very creamy! and (mixed in with my breakfast porridge, with seeds) and for me is the best Soy Protein I've tried. Thank You.

Excellent protein for me. I feel great after taking it for a few weeks, and I feel I was starting to makes gains from using it. It is a little clumpy when mixing without a blender, but I usually mix my shakes with an mini electric blender, so I don't care. Taste is fine (somewhat neutral), and makes for a thick paletable shake with simply 250 ml of water.

Digestible and tastes ok when well mixed but is pretty claggy, chewy stuff - this is the worst Soy Protein I've triedfor mixability (and I've tried several) , virtually impossible to mix properly without a blender making it less versatile than most all in all...

  • Review:
I was initially a little surprised by the clumpiness and the blandness but after mixing and matching and esting with different things each day I've learnt how to avoid both. You can make a truly divine shake if you mix it with half soy milk, half water (so the thickness is perfect, not too thick, but not watery, like a nice milkshake), then add some cocoa, cinnamon and agave nectar along with a couple of oats and you get a creamy, chocolately milkshake that's delicious. Plus the fact that myprotein soy is non genetically modified beans means that it's really good quality stuff too.

I suffer from IBS and am dairy intolerant I have tried whey, Whey isolate & brown rice protein & soy from GNC This is by far the best soy protein i have used. It does not bloat me or cause stomach upsets i get with all other proteins i have tried. So far i have tried vanilla & chocolate. The chocolate is the nicest protein shake ive tasted in yrs. (might be due to fact i cant eat real chocolate) Found my self looking forward to the shake. Mixabity is not the best but using my MP blender shaker makes a big difference also adding liquid 1st helps. I have been drinking this with rice milk and for me its lke a belly ache free tasty milk shake. I have just ordered 2.5KG unflavored and chocolate flavoring and will see how i get on.

I like soy milk but this was quite strong for me in terms of flavour! I tried water, milk, and fruit smoothies, but the taste was still quite over-powering. I found it tastes best with home-made smoothies or raspberry sorbet (see above). Can be a bit clumpy if only mixing by shaking. Overall, very good value for money given the high protein, low carb and low fat content.
  • Goes well with which Myprotein products:
Raspberry sorbet - blend around 2 scoops with a little water or milk. Add protein when it has liquidised a little bit. Optionally add vanilla or strawberry flavouring. Also goes well if mixed with flavoured whey protein.

Just got this..DO NOT MIX WITH SOYA MILK! Turns into a McD like thick milkshake/double cream which u CAN NOT use on cereal, you are literally eating the Weetabix dry! NEIGH! TOO thick compared to Whey..Disappointed but will try with water thou not holding out much hope..glad I only ordered 2.5kg! Will have to order some Whey and try to mix the two as 1/3 part. Shame as I am lactose intolerance and was hoping this to be a replacement for Whey. On the plus side, I found it palatable and I guess it's perfect for smoothies.

This stuff tastes seriously awful if you purchase it unflavoured, so my first recommendation is that you buy it flavoured. I've tried mixing it with several different things, juices, cereals, soya milk and honey, and various other things and it has been difficult to mask. However, the most successful attempt has been to mix it with 4 teaspoons of strawberry nesquik mix, it's no treat but it goes down a lot easier that way. The powder is very "grainy" when mixed, it doesn't come out smooth like some of the other products but I have to give this product its due as it does what it says, it has definitely helped me with my recovery and I am not currently using any other products in conjunction with it. I hope this review is helpful to anybody considering this product. Taste isn't everything, just bare that in mind.

The price of this product is excellent, the taste however is wrong. I've found that instead of having it with water or milk and using a shaker, I blend fruits/ice-cream or sorbet with it and it tastes good and I get some my five a day :) The reason I bought this product was because I'm lactose intolerant. • Okay for the average joe, not for bodybuilders (01/01/2010)
  • Review:
Okay, as per the title, the effectiveness of this product will depend on who you are.\n\nIf you are the average joe, who can't digest lactose, but needs to increase the amount of protein in your diet, this is fine. Simply mix it in a blender with some fruit (or honey) and soy milk and it tastes fine and mixes well. \n\nHowever, if you're a lactose intolerant bodybuilder then this doesn't cut the mustard for a number of reasons, as listed below:\n\n1) Mixability in a shaker with water is poor (I take 50g at a time in one shaker so you should take this into account). If you have your shakes on the go, be it in the office or after the gym, likelihood is that you mix with water and down it. You can't do that with this powder as it mixes poorly in water (using a shaker). You're left with lumps and froth (see point 2).\n\n2) Far too frothy in a shaker. This is more of an annoyance than a serious problem. I have to wait about 2 minutes for the froth to die down before I can actually drink it.\n\n3) It is not palatable without adding flavouring. Believe me I can generally tolerate the most disgusting of tastes but this was revolting. I had to purchase the strawberry flavour drops which I must admit do make it taste pleasant. However, this means you have to carry these around with you and adds 7 or 8 pounds to the price, making it not as cost-effective as I had previously thought.\n\nAdding to this the annoying resealable zip which is not travel-friendly whatsoever, I find it hard to give this product a good rating. I will be switching back to Holland&Barrett Chocolate soy isolate. Although it's more expensive, it is far more convenient.\n\nPlease, MP, sort us out with a decent flavoured version. There are enough people out there who need it and there are few good substitutes so it will surely be a hit product!

  • Review:
I have a new 2.5kg bag from MP. Hmm. What's going on here... Not so nice a taste and different mixing ability. In fact it's quite similar tasting to the H&B stuff, but not exactly the same. I went over and got some H&B from a pal and compared them. As I remembers it, the previous bag (4 months ago) from MP mixed better really, leaving a few soft lumps that floated. This new bag makes less but hard, tough lumps that tend to not float. In fact some of them are too hard and tough to break up even by chewing!! Maybe my taste has changed over the last few weeks or this is a sizeable product variation or a different product? Maybe this is the same as the H&B with the anti-caking agent?

Stick it in a blender with a banana, cocoa powder, honey (or frozen berries) to sweeten and water.\r\nMuch easier to drink.\r\nIf it's too gloopy, just keep adding water until it's the way you want it.

Doesnt taste as good as whey protein Isolate (unflavoured), but the first time I tookit , I felt it really hit me, great quality stuff for the fantastic price, highly recommended stuff from MP.

This product doesn't mix nearly as well or taste nearly as nice as the cheaper whey protein concentrate. I usually take it with whey (plus other things) in my PWO shake, and it seems to make it a little gritty and lumpy, but it's palatable. Has a different AA profile to whey, hence taking more than one type after workouts.

Unlike you bodybuilders I want my Soy Protein to use in my daily breakfast Frozen Fruit Smoothie. Being lactose intolerant, I use Soy as an alternative. \r\nI usually use TwinLab Vegefuel however I was unable to get my usual supply. I then found myprotein.co.uk who offered me a quality product at a very good price. I found the service excellent and liked to find that I could track the delivery of the product.\r\nI made my first smoothie today and found that with a heavyduty blender (Kitchenaid)the powder blended well. Yes I could taste the Soy Protein, however I was a little heavy handed with my scoop. I give you people 4.5 out of 5 for this product, and I know when I get used to what ratio of powder I should be using my breakie should taste just fine and dandy.

taste and texture, on my palate, whey wins me over hands down. It seems to go thick and gloopy if you add a little too much soy, not as smooth a texture as whey but still a half decent drink no less.
