Overview

Pea Protein Isolate (PPI) is a natural vegetable based protein which offers an excellent nutritional and amino acid profile. Completely free of gluten, lactose, cholesterol and other anti-nutritional factors, this is a great source of protein for those with certain food intolerances.

Pea Protein Isolate is absorbed relatively slowly by the digestive system when compared to other protein sources such as whey protein. This provides your body with a more sustained supply of amino acids and nutrients, making it ideal for consumption throughout the day. Pea Protein Isolate is concentrated to around 85% protein per serving, providing a great source of protein and amino acids especially when combined with other protein sources. It is partcularly high in the Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs).

Pea Protein Isolate is ideal for vegans as it is sourced entirely from the yellow pea.

The amino acid profile can be found at the bottom of the page under 'Certificates'.

Key Benefits

  • Review:
I recently purchased a bag of this pea protein as I found out I had an allergy to dairy products so could no longer use anything with whey etc etc. Before I bought the pea protein I tried a hemp protein product which I must say has to be the worst tasting thing I have ever tasted, It was not a my protein prodcut so I cannot say as to whether they are all going to be the same but hemp was def not for me, and the only way I could drink it was to hold my nose and down the horrible mixture. So i scanned the internet and found that Pea protein was a good source of protein,so i logged onto my protein, the reviews where mixed and alot of people complained about the taste and texture and after tasting the hemp I hesitated at first but decided to go for it, I also purchased a bag of the My protein Oat mixture to go with it. I must say the pea protein is great, when I first opened the bag I thought it looked and felt like wood dust.lol. So i made my first shake by adding one large scoop of the mix with 2 scoops of oat mix and added 300ml of soya milk, the mix was really thick due to so much powder so I would recommend about 600ml if your having oat mix and maybe 350ml if just having the pea protein, the mixture mixed fairly well and so now for the taste test which I was sort of dreading due to the reviews but it actually tastes ok with milk and oats, I have now started to add coco powder and a tea spoon of sugar just until I get some flavour drops tomorrow and it tasted pretty good, obviously the strawberry and choclate whey protein has a lovely taste but this pea stuff isn't actually that bad and I will def be buying more. I can't really say if it's helping with gym etc yet as I have only bought the stuff 4 days ago but with 23g of protein Im sure It will benefit me. I would also recommend addding this protein to foods too like your porridge in a morning or to soup as it mixes well with both of them. I will never be trying hemp again this is the stuff to get!!!

I have been taking a heaped large scoop of myprotein pea protein isolate twice a day (in the morning and before bed; eating whole foods for all other meals), for the last two weeks. I feel it is more muscle building than the organic rice protein ever was for me (ymmv). Feeling strong, some NO effect, probably due to the good arg-inine numbers, and obviously none of the negative effects that lactose, milk protein and gluten containing proteins have on me. Don't get me wrong, if you are ok with dairy then go for the impact whey isolate, but if you can't then imho this is the pick of the non-dairy bunch (I have tried hemp, rice, pea, soy from myprotein and other manufacturers). I'm going to stick with this for now but my early feeling is that it's making a difference. Ii's never going to make a sweet shake, and I would not recommend using a shaker. What I do is mash an avocado in a tall mug with a knife, add a generous scoop of PPI, then stir in enough water from the kettle to turn it into a cross between mashed potatoes and guacamole. Pop some EFA capsules and eat off the knife. All the best J-P

Normally get hemp or rice protein. Never liked the sound or idea of pea protein but this stuff really surprised me. There's no pea smell or taste what so ever and the powder is yellow not green. It has a very mild wheata bix smell and taste which is almost not there. Out of all the vegan proteins I've tried which is most of them, this stuff dissolved completely and quickly into a smooth creamy texture into just plain old water. It's almost like corn flour but without the separation and no hint of powderiness what so ever. Silky smooth when mixed, easy to disguise and makes a great thickener in stew or soup. Adds creaminess to my fruit smoothies with no background taste. Good stuff.

As a shake it does not mix as well as my usual soy products but it is satisfactory. What i do in a shake is add the powder and just a little water and use my mini whisk to make it into a paste before adding the rest of the water. It comes unflavoured so the taste isn't the best but this allows you the choice of your own flavouring. I usually just add it to soup and for that purpose it is fine. For a shake i tend to add some flavouring to make it more palatable such as milkshake mixes or mixed with a flavoured protein.

I was looking for an alternative to whey protein, and I purchased this after becoming tired of MP Egg White Powder. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, this doesn't taste like your standard chocolate/strawberry/banana flavoured sweetened protein powders - but it still tastes good. A couple of the other reviews have nailed the taste perfectly - "nutty", "woody", "green" - I'd go with hazelnuts as the nearest comparison. It makes quite a thick shake, but is not too frothy, and is a pleasant change if you're looking for something dairy free, or entirely vegan. The nutrient stats are also impressive.

Pea Protein Isolate doesn't have much flavour at all, I have mixed with apple juice and put it in a smoothie. Mixes very well, but does thicken a lot, I had to put in a bit more liquid than recommended. Definitely not as strong a taste as hemp protein, maybe a little more than soy (but that makes me bloat).

This product tastes fine, i'm not sure what all of the previous reviews were talking about, I mixed my pea protein with some vegetable stock, and is just tasted like vegetable soup. It mixed easily, and a as a vegan is seems like a product i was use for the long term.

I'm baffled by the poor taste reviews for this product. I have a high tolerence for disgusting foods but had to give up on hemp protein powder ( I didn't want to mix it with a load of sugar to make it palatable). The pea protein has at worst a bland taste but definitly not disgusting. I mix mine with just rice milk using a simple hand blender (much easier to clean than blending machines). The result is smooth and very tolerable.

Well I think this product is superb value for money, slower digestion than whey so fuller longer and personally dont mind the taste. Yet again most of the reviews on here are concerned with the taste but I think people are missing the point of this product which is the quality nutrition. Dont let the 'bad taste' reviews put u off and add it to ur artillery.

First of all, I thought the taste wouldn't be so bad, but on its own, it's horrible. Of course it's going to be horrible. So, I decided to add things from my food cupboard and eventually came to four conclusions that my list below are the best things you can put in with Pea Protein to make it taste nice: [For CUTTERS] 7 - 10 Flavdrops Liquid Vanilla/Banana Flavouring. [For CUTTERS] Cup-a-Soup (any vegetable soup) with added vegetable if desired. Ensure that you add more than 285ml of hot water. [For GAINERS] One Banana & 300 - 400ml Soya Milk. [For GAINERS] One tsp Cocoa Powder, One tbsp Unrefined Brown Sugar and 300 - 400ml Sweetened Soya Milk.

For the price this stuff is a good buy if you are a vegan, or (like me) you just want to get away from dairy and egg protein powders for a bit. The ratio of protein per scoop is very high. Its easy to digest. Texture / mixability is fine. Taste is .. interesting .. it is a bit nutty and 'green'. My PWO shake usually has some carbs from fruits, so i whizz this stuff with some flaxmeal and berries in a food processor for 10 secs and it tastes great. If im not having the fruit, I just use 5 drops of vanilla FlavDrops and again it tastes great. A tsp of Cinnamon also works well with it.

Basically I am using this product because I suffer from a gluten and lactose problem. This product doesn't give me any problems, and my stomach seems to be fine. The persistent issue with this product seems to be its taste, I definitely recommend buying a sample pack or 1kg pack before you commit to a larger order! Best way I can describe the taste is, nutty / ryvita / weetabix... It's definitely not a fantastic consistency either, very thick.. I'm fairly happy with this product , the taste isn't an issue any more.

i bought this because impact whey gave me a mega dodgy gut after prolonged use so i wanted somthing lactose free,i've had no problems with this so far.i find it tastes ok,but i drink shakes for what they are not how they taste. the texture is much thicker than any other shake i've had so needs quite alot of water to mix,but on the plus side its really filling. i will buy this all the time now great substitute to whey. DONT BUY IF YOUR A SOFTY WHO LIKES CHOC MINT,BANOFEE ETC...

I mix it a with chocolate nesquick and maltodextrin post workout and just nesquick at other times. I mix it in a shaker and have no problems with it. I decided to give this a try after my previous protein supplement caused bloating. After reading the reviews I was prepared for the bad taste. I think the competitor's tastes nice, like a normal milkshake. The pea protein isn't anywhere near as nice, even with the flavouring added. However it's not as bad as I thought and is drinkable. It tastes a bit like Ready Brek. As for its effectiveness I'll have to wait and see...

I ordered this because I was moving away from soy protein cause I felt bloated when using soy. Amazing product and very easy to gulp down with either water or soy milk. My latest batch was different however. It had a really disgusting taste and the texture reminded me of concrete when mixed with liquid and not at all as perfect as my previous batches. I discovered the perfect solution to this though, I added 1/2 of Instant Oats Chocolate and the foul taste vanished, completely! I tried the chocolate flavoring which is offered here but that didn't help, the Instant Oats did though. Much recommended with soy milk. Just beware, it seems to differ alot between batches.

cannot understand why there are so many people complaining about the taste. surely its about how good the product works rather than taste? as someone said earlier, people are too used to their products being enhanced to tatse like chocolate fudge or summin, when all they are doing is eating more additives. this stuff is ok, tastes ok and I mix it with water. i am also happy with the gains i am making on it. i uses this on workout days in the morning with water and straight after workout with water and a spoon of sugar. my advice, stop being girls, man up..

Downside are that it has the same texture as pea & ham soap, minus the taste (which is pretty neutral, more savoury than sweet). Its not something you would choose to snack on, but if you are vegan or doing a cleanse its fine. The upside is that it keeps you fuller for longer, much longer than whey, which is a good thing if you are using it for anything other than postworkout.

I happily eat pasta and rice totally plain, and happily down unwhipped egg whites, the sweetest thing I eat is fruit- OK, Aren't I quite the superhero, Sorry I just wanted to put it in perspective.... well to drink pea protein with just water you have to be an absolute psycho. It does have quite a strong strange, bland, but poignant taste. As someone else does- I blend in a banana - (the riper the better) and add rice milk.- still pretty stinking tho, so I also add 4 tablespoons of banana nesquik, which leaves it very drinkable indeed. I am lactose intolerant so this is cheapest, safest stuff by far on the market. All in all its good stuff if you can mask the taste.

A large scoop of this stuff and 250-300ml of lactose free milk makes for a decent enough tasting mix, though the texture is a bit odd. I don't drink this stuff with the expectation that it's going to taste great, I just down a couple every day thankful I don't have to eat another 2-3 chicken breasts or tins of tuna. And I'm making gains so I can't complain about its effectiveness.

Hi, Ok, let's get this out of the way, THIS DOES NOT TASTE HORRIBLE, actually it does'nt taste of anything, it is entirely neutral. I can only assume there are alot of people who have had their taste buds altered with the amount of artifcial sweetners ingested over the years. Blend the pea protein with a bannana and some rice milk = DELICIOUS, blend with some brown rice protein and it's better again. Don't let the taste issue put you off trying this.

Pea Protein isolate is definitely the best of the non-dairy based protein powders I've tried thus far. It mixes fine with water. It doesn't smell or taste of peas (which is a good thing), and in fact tastes quite nice mixed with some barely grass powder. I've not experienced any bloating, though I wasn't really expecting to since it isn't dairy based. Considering it's protein content is a match for the majority of the dairy based proteins, and considering it's mix-ability and taste, I'd say it was a great product and worth an overall 4.

From previously using soy protein to this was no biggie. I had heard that is tasted awful and what else. It does not. I've never used those easy drinkable whey protein though. Pea Protein goes down easily with MP's chocolate flavouring, even with just water. Mixes really well with any liquid and very easy on your stomach. These are my personal experiences with it. I also use a mix of Pea Protein(2/3) and Brown Rice(1/3) protein to make an extra good amino acid profile.

If you don't mix it properly you will get lumps that will make you gag, and yes; it tastes odd. But if that's enough to put you off then give up strength training and become an amateur food critic. Taking it warm will improve it's palatability. And as for mixing it with a whole tub of saccharin tablets, most brands contain aspartame, and it's highly inadvisable to have large quantities of that in your system.

TASTE: Indeed, if on its own, one of the most disgusting things I could imagine. But mixed in savory foods, it's really good EFFECTIVENESS: Lacks the sulfur aminoacids. Ok guys, the only way I've found to make pea protein isolate palatable is to mix in a 40g sachet of flavouring (I favour strawberry) with about 800g pea protein isolate and an entire packet of saccharin tablets (Slimmer are nicer than Sweetex, less of an aftertaste). You have to crush the saccharin tablets up really small, then add them to the tub with your pea protein & flavouring, put the lid on and shake the powder well. Then you can just scoop it out as desired like flavoured whey. It doesn't taste as nice whey, but all forms of dairy give me catarrh & make my skin break out like crazy.

  • Great Mixability Disgusting Taste. (18/03/2010)
  • Review:
OK. \n\nI come from the mindset that if a certain food is great for my body and it can help me build myself up, I generally don't care what it tastes like - I'll mix it with some water and down it within 2 seconds. \n\nI used to do this is raw tuna + water and it was fine. Same with unflavoured whey. \n\nAnd I thought most of the reviewers here were just wimps for not bearing a healthy supplement for just a few seconds while drinking it. \n\nThis pea protein, however, is absolutely disgusting. It's not a taste that I can zone out, it has a physiological effect that gets me very close to vomiting. \n\nI've tried mixing it with cocoa powder, but I'd need too much of it to mask the pea protein taste and in the long run it's too expensive to do this. \n\nI've also tried blending it with two (about 15-20cm) fully ripe bananas which DOES help immensely, but I need to take it straight with just water.\n\nSo now I've managed to drink this in water without it effecting my vomit response too much. The trick is to mix it with cold water (icy water would be perfect, but isn't optimal as its potential to hydrate is lowered) and drink it without the liquid making contact with my tongue. \n\nYou know when you take a sip of your friend's drink without "mouthing it"? Drink it like that. \n\nThe mixability is excellent, which is why you can mix this in cold water without any lumps.

First off, this stuff tastes FOUL!! I kid you not. If you've ever had Chinese herbal medicine where you boil up a bag of what looks like woodland scrapings, then drink the juice, that's what this stuff is like, mixed with the 'plasticy' flavour of the bag. Retch-worthy.\nAso, if you leave it for more than 10 minutes it sets, like jelly, so it's a case of hold your nose and get it down quick.\nI'm going to finish it to see what it's results are like (I've paid for it after all), but if they're anything less than stunning I'm going to stick to the soya stuff.\n\n

OK so I've been consuming PPI for a few months now. Been through 5kg or so, so hopefully in a good position to leave an honest review. \n\nThe first few times you drink it, yes it's not that great. Especially if you're used to Whey. To me it doesn't really taste of peas. It's a light brown colour so presume it's made from chick peas. Quite a neutral taste once you get over the initial change. So neutral in fact that I now use it unflavoured on my cereal every morning. \nIt's also going to taste a little bit grainy if you're used to milk based proteins, but no where near as rough on the throat as brown rice protein or hemp protein.\n\nWhen I have it as a drinking shake (pre workout/post workout) I flavour it with a large squeeze of honey (pre shake) then next (post shake) some of the MP Chocolate flavouring. Someone mentioned in another review about it causing stomach upset. Personally when consuming 3 large scoops a day (on training days) I've not had a problem. The same can't be said for large quantities of brown rice/hemp.\n\nPerformance: This is a tricky one since there's so many variables. I think a mix of 75% brown rice and 25% hemp protein worked best for me, gains wise. I had to search for an alternative when brown rice went off the market and this has been the next best thing (milk allergy). Noticed that it's finally coming back in to stock soon (well done MP!) so might vary my intake between the two going forward.

I usually have 150 - 200 mls of water mixed with a scoop and drink it right down but the pea protein is very loopy and requires much more liquid - just makin it longer to drink!!! After trying for 5 days to give it a valiant effort I have re-ordered the whey protein isolate. It really is quite unpalatable.
  • Try this... (18/09/2009)
  • Review:
Mix it with passion fruit juice if you can get it..that way it "almost" masks the flavour and is quite good. I also grind up nuts and use the pea protein like flour to make it into crackers which I bake till crispy in the oven. Topped with hummus and tomato they are really quite tasty and the nuts give them an even better amino profile )\nFailing this, you could try mixing them with red grape juice which they sell in morrisons and is the next best thing, but not as good as the passion fruit.

No problems with digestion. Will be buying more.\nOf course it would be nice to drink a protein shake that tastes of a children's milkshake but this is not what we are buying.\nI wouldn't personally add juice or some sort of flavourng, I think it makes it worse actually. Best way to drink it is with water and just imagine you have some medical condition and you need to drink this to cure your illness. It works for me!

Being able to consume anything is luxury for me as I am a Celiac. I can't eat casein either. Can't have soy milk either. Just got this.\n\nI put a teaspoon in mouth and chewed, no real taste, just chalky.\nMixed with OJ and water, the taste seemed to intensify, not very nice, a bit like drinking dirt I suppose. I am not bothered about taste on anything anymore, if your like me you would understand what I mean. Will post another review once I see what happens with this (digestion). So far all ok, and if I have no "issues" with this stuff, then I will end up buying more.
  • Not the taste that's the problem (24/08/2009)
  • Review:
It tastes pretty rough but it's just about manageable.\nIt's the bloated feeling that I get after taking it that is the real problem. I feel really full and sick for ages afterwards.\n\nI'm annoyed that I wasted my money on this but thought i'd give it a try as it's cheaper than the egg white powder. The egg white is much better though.

  • Taste is OK for me (13/04/2009)
  • Review:
Maybe it has changed since the earlier reviews, but I just bought a kg as my Rice protein had run out and have about 18 grams in about 500mls of warm water. It mixes very easily, just a brief stir with a desert spoon does it. To me the taste mildly reminiscent of peas and is OK enough to not be a problem to take at all, better than dairy anything. I've always found dairy products taste between not pleasant to quite horrible, be it milks, cheeses, or butter, especially the after tastes that's the really bad part where the bad taste just gets worse and lingers. The pea protein, mixed in water, it's consistency is very smooth indeed, milk like. Different to the Rice protein which had a bit of a texture. Once a day I also mix hemp protein, about 15 to 20g, in with the pea protein and warm water and stir. The hemp protein has to me a somewhat hard to tolerate flavour. I guess you just have to try it as clearly each different person has their particular taste likes and dislikes.

Just wanted to make another comment because the batch of pea protein I just brought was actually better than the first. Not sure if its the new packaging but probably. Anyway it mixed even better with no lumps. Also some of you guys comments are over the top, I mean it just tastes like chick peas really, you get used to it too. Only powder left for me to use so I'm very happy.
  • YOU'RE GONNA REGRET IT!!! (29/01/2009)
  • Review:
Wow, what a total waste of a tenner. After reading the other very mixed reviews I made the mistake of getting this, thinking people were just making a fuss over the taste. I tried on its own, with orange, and even with tomato juice and tobasco (most successful). Even this didn't mask the taste - seriously, IT TASTES LIKE DEATH, and though very mixable, for some reason the powder sticks to every surface of your mouth and the hideous taste lingers. Full on gross, DONT BUY IT!!!\n\nThankfully I got plenty of raspberry whey too get by (YUM)
  • Very good (26/01/2009)

The taste is not as bad as many reviewers say. I mix a 30 gr. scoop in 250 ml of water or soy milk and I quite like it. Besides, this kind of proteins is very mixable. I'm very satisfied.
  • Good but... (18/01/2009)
  • Review:
As far as pea proteins go, this is pretty good. It mixes pretty well, and shockingly, the resealing zipper on the pouch actually works. As in, it does actually reseal pretty much perfect.\n\nTaste is...well. Its a pea protein. Mercifully it mixes pretty well even at the recommended dose, so a dash of orange juice masks the taste pretty effectively.\n\nI am using it as part of a recovery shake due to massively increasing my workload. It is much better than having nothing to prevent the next day aches.\n\nBasic opinion. If you are not liking whey, or are restricted in what you can take, or just want something a bit different, this is definetly a good option. Just be prepared to add a bit of something to make it easier to drink.

soya protein was my powder of choice due to me being lactose tolerant but soya eaten in great quantity has so many health disadvantages, so i was looking at an alternative brown rice protein is no longer available and i bought some organic hemp seed protein, the flavor is just over powering for me and the high cost is off putting. i have been usiong pea protein for the past two weeks i blend three scoops with 100g of oats, one banana and a scoop of maltdextrin. i added two tablespoons of peanut butter for taste as someone mentioned in a previous review thanks, i quite like the taste just tastes of peanut butter no way would i classify the powder as rank but i do find a food blender is a must, you cannot mix these powders properly in a shaker this is the first time in a whilwe i have actually felt a difference with this powder the amino acid and protein content is ace and so is the price. highly recommended
  • Seems pretty good (26/10/2008)
  • Review:
Ok so I've only had a couple of shakes so far thus I can't say how good it is for recovery. Apart from that it seems to mix ok but you have to use some tactics or it'll end up lumpy. Easiest to use a blender but its a hassle cleaning it. The taste isn't exactly nice but its about mind over matter. Its just pea powder after all, nothing bad in there, tastes quite nutty like somone else said. This is all I can use since I don't seem to tolorate any other powders well so fingers crossed.

ok iwas expecting the worst. been vegan 20 years, so have had my taste tested! SUNRISE??!! Anyhow this is worse than the soya powder in taste but you just gotta geta mega smoothie together. its not that much hassle with a hand blender. bananas blueberries, strawberries raspberries, the lot!gets a bit pricey but its all good sh*t,though there still is a strange almost plastic aftertaste. If your training and dont want animal products, then what else you gonna do?
  • Better than Soya and Brown rice Protein (19/08/2008)
  • Review:
In addition to me previous comments. I had been using soya protien for months and had seen very few results with it. I recently got a tub of this and a tub of the Brown rice protien. The results are astonishing i'm already starting to see growth and i'm lifting heavier weights with each visit to the gym. I wish I had started on this product 6 months ago and not wasted my time on soya protein. As for the taste, yes its not nice but it is bareable (unlike the rice protien which i've only been able to bring myself to drink twice since I bought it) This would have got five stars from me if it wasn't for the taste.

This is the protein shake mix that I use and I quite like it:\n\n1 scoop pea protein\n2 scoops waxy maize starch\n1 tablespoon of natural peanut butter\n500ml milk\n3 teaspoons of nesquick chocolate milk mix\n\nI find that this tastes ok. It has take a little getting used to, but I think the addition of the chocolate milk mix really helps.\n\nIt is quite a lot of calories though, around 800 I think. I use it as a pre/during/post workout shake, since I workout in the morning and can't eat enough for breakfast to get my energy levels up before my workout.

It's seriously not that bad, I think it's more of a state of mind, if you drink it thinking "eurgh this is pea powder", then you're not gonna like it.\n\nBut, it actually tastes quite nutty, I find that if i mix one scoop with about a pint of water, you just end up with some nutty tasting water, not disgusting at all.\n\nLast night I blended it up with some apple juice, oats and nuts/seeds, tasted alright.\n\nTaste wise, I'd say it's on a par with soya protein.

As in the "When Harry met Sally" scene, where she fakes orgasm andthe old lady looking on says, "I'll have what she's having". That was how I felt on my first taste of pea protein isolate. It says it has a neutral taste, perhaps that is why some people find it disappointing, because actually it tastes intensely of peas, and I love peas. It's a real pea hit, and I drink it mixed with Evian. To me it doesn't need anything else. Since I'm using it as part of a weight loss diet that is a plus for me, that I don't need to mix it with more calories. I can just mix it up to meet any deficit as an almost insignificant addition, calorie-wise. And as I said, I love the taste. It isn't neutral, it tastes of peas, and it's delicious. Good and sharp.
  • The worst (29/10/2007)
  • Review:
I read these reviews, but thought they must be overexaggerated, and seeing as I have a strong stomach, decided to give pea protein a go. WHAT A MISTAKE! I've tried every other animal-free protein going and believe me, pea protein tastes like sh*t! Far worse than anything I've ever tasted. Even as part of a protein shake containing banana, milk, peanut butter etc, the taste still dominates. I've resorted to downing this stuff with breath held now and can't wait til my batch is finished and I can get some rice or soya that doesn't make me wanna throw up every day.

  • Review:
This stuff didn't taste half as bad as most below are stating, I mean, yeah, it's not the greatest taste in the world, but then again, which protein shakes are?\n\nI bought some berry blast flavoring to go with and it completely masks the taste, as does your local brand squash.\n\nthe powder mixes quite well too, not the gritty texture like you get with some other proteins.\n\nThe only real downside to it being is that it's not a "complete" protein, but then again, that's not MP's fault... it's the peas, and all you gotta do is buy the brown rice isolate together with this and you're sorted!

im not a big fan of peas, but i thought i would give this a try, how bad can it be? thats what i thought, when i first opened this i knew it wasnt going to be the best tasting so i took it to the gym with me, and after mywork out i filled it with water and started to drink it, i somehow managedd to get half way, and i was forced to stop in fear of being sick on the spot, i thought it must of been a heavy workout, so i tried again that night, and the same thing happened. the next day i left my friend try it, he added water and mixed it, he tasted it so did i, we both agreed it is TRUELY TERRIBLE! so we added orange juice, some of the taste went anyway, he manage to finish it, and sure enough under 40seconds later he was being sick in my bathroom! if you think you wont like you then you wont, trust me pleaasse, i have only got 1kg so i was lucky not to for got more, which i wont be, offical g rating of 0gs, taste is seriously 0/5
  • Great All Rounder (14/11/2006)
  • Review:
I have been told that it's best to consume a 4:1 carb:protein ratio mix within half an hour of completing a running session, then again within the next two hours. This protein mixed with pure fruit juice is a healthy and convenient way to do this. \r\n\r\nIt has a very neutral taste so works well with orange juice. Compared with Brown Protein isolate it mixes much more easily and the taste when mixed with water is far more tolerable.\r\n\r\nI would recommend this to anyone seeking a cheap dairy-free protein. Don't be tempted to save a few quid and get the rice stuff - like me you'll soon regret it.\r\n\r\n
  • Taking the pea... (19/08/2006)
  • Review:
The reviewer who described this powder as 'intensely bland' was spot on. But I don't understand those who say it tastes 'nasty'. True, I don't think it is something you can mix with water and drink, like, say whey powder. But it IS a good additive to other dishes and it doesn't overwhelm the taste of the food.\r\n\r\nI bought an unflavoured batch and have so far found it is a good additive/protein boost in curries, casseroles and even when a large teasponnful is stirred into a can of those healthy eating baked beans. Experiment, people!

It tastes awful when mixed with water - it has a kind of \"intensely bland\" flavour that's very offputting. However, you can mix it with vegetables in a stew or soup and it goes surprisingly well. The best things I've found to mix it with are ketchup, marmite and strong spices.

  • Pea Protein (24/03/2006)
  • Review:
Really good for vegans if you're not fond of soya protein! This powder mixes very well (i take it just with water). I've always found the taste, even though i ordered it flavoured as Banana, to be pretty horrible, so i would definitely recommend flavouring it with something strong! At the price they have it on here, you can't go wrong!

  • 2nd time tastes better (15/11/2005)
  • Review:
Like milk protein it tastes awful the first time (unflavoured/unsweetened). But the second time is got used to it, the natural flavour is exactly like chestnut. It's easier to mix than milk protein (less froth), 20% cheaper and better tasting, can be used in sauces and soups because it's not sweet.
