Overview

Hemp Protein is an excellent source of protein containing all of the Essential Amino Acids (EAAs) at a ratio closer to 'complete' sources of protein such as meat, milk and eggs. It is also packed with live enzymes, Essential Fatty Acids (EFA), vitamins, minerals and other co-factors to aid absorption

Our Hemp Protein Powder is 100% organic and manufactured via a proprietary processing method to retain as much of the nutritional goodness as possible. Absolutely no chemicals or heat are used in any of the processing. The process is cold pressed and cold filtered to produce hemp seed oil. Then the powder is created by cold milling, cold hulling and finally sifting.

To attain optimum health we must eat foods that contain live enzymes, active phyto-nutrients, vitamins, minerals, EAAs, and EFAs. These elements are termed "Essential" because the human body does not produce them, they must come from the food we eat. Hemp Seed is one of the plant kingdom's most concentrated, complete and balanced sources of EAAs and EFAs.

Hemp Seeds are rich in essential nutrients including chlorophyll, magnesium, potassium, sulphur, phytosterols, ascorbic acid, beta-carotene, calcium, fibre, histidine, iron, potassium, phosphorus, riboflavin, niacin and thiamine.

Hemp Seed contains all 10 EAAs, the building blocks of protein. Shelled Hemp Seed or Hemp Nut contains 34.6% pure digestible protein, providing readily available Amino Acids for building and repairing tissue. Hemp Seed Protein is comprised of 65% high quality Edestin Protein, the most potent protein of any plant source and 35% Globulin Edestin, which closely resembles the globulin in blood plasma and is highly compatible with the human digestive system.

Hemp Seed is rich in Omega 6 and Omega 3 EFAs as well as being one of the few plant sources of GLAs.

Our Hemp seed is whole, live, organically grown, non-GM and contains 0.000% THC.

The amino acid profile can be found at the bottom of the page under 'Certificates'.

ok this is my first review on this site, ive had many of the products, Hemp protein as you know has many benefits compared to whey. i bought a bag and tried it out. the taste was a slight shock to the system so dont buy a big bag first, but mixed with GUAVA JUICE OMG IT TASTE AMAZINNNNGGGGG! I WILL NOW BE ONLY USING HEMP PROTEIN. ITS A WHOLEFOOD ! Ive seen gains that seem to be stable and dont reduce in size like when you stop using other proteins. So Buy it and find a suitable juice to mix it with and you'll be fine. i even put a scoop of the powder in my sweet potato mash for lunch. :)

Personally I didn't like the taste much, its stronger than whey so would be relatively difficult to mask, I suggest you buy a small amount to try first. Also the protein per weight is low so its overall much more expensive than other sources I'm intolerant to some foods with no apparent pattern and this one was really bad, I can't even take it as it goes straight through me. Soya protein is much better but also requires hiding the awful taste, I'll try the Brown Rice Protein if it comes back into stock.

Very expensive for hemp as you can get it very cheap from other places but I bought with a few friends in bulk this stuff and it really works and it is a healthy alternative to whey and has a more nutritional complex whereas whey just tends to provide protein and very little else nutrition wise.

I enjoy this hemp organic protein powder as it is healthy, organic, very effective too. I eat meat very rarely and non free range eggs in regular protein shakes I find not so friendly to chickens. I went for a vegan protein to use alongside a good whey protein immediately after the gym. I have felt my bodies strengh, endurance and tone improve with my lean mass increase from this product. Thankyou

I am allergic to loads of things including dairy, soya and wheat/corn/grains, so was so pleased when my lovely Brother told me about this, though it took me a while to get round to ordering as I read some of the reviews.... and was a bit put off, but I should have just gone with it! It is not nasty in any way at all - it has a slightly nutty flavour (well I as I remember nuts from my childhood anyway - as I'm allergic to them now too!!) I drink wheatgrass and Spirulina too, so the greeness is of no consequence, and it does mix provided you are drinking it straight away, or drinking it from a shaker so you can giive it a quick shake before you swig, as it does settle a bit. I imagine it will adapt well to flavourings, but personally I thought it tasted really nice. Can't comment on it's effectiveness as only just had my first one, but I enjoyed it and will be back for more!

This is anecdotal evidence I admit, but I have to say that there's something about this protein powder which works really, really well for me. I don't know what, but I've tried around half of the different types of protein supplement and this one really gives me some kind of boost in the way no other has. I sincerely hope they start offering a bulk discount however as it's very expensive. A recommendation: mix it with Pomegranite juice. It's an acquired taste, but it really grows on you after a couple of days. Although I genuinely think my body just recognizes it as great nutrition and has psychologicallyl made it taste great in response. This is *much* better than any whey protein for me.

Dont buy this if you want a nice taste when drinking protein. This is natural ground down hemp seeds. The first time i tried it i heaved, honestly i have a high threshold for putting up with revolting tasting drinks as i have taken all sorts of brands of whey for over 5 years. I kept going and found my tolerance level improving and the taste becomes more bland. However the effectivness of the product is unbelievable. I feel better and have put on good clean lean muscle and lost body fat. This stuff really is the real deal, its a whole protein and superfood all in one packed with minerals EFA`s vitamins loads of fibre ( great Stools ) low PH level compared to high acidic whey powder. I have more sustained energy and better skin, I am not tell porkys when i say i chucked a 5kg tub of whey in the bin. Shame that MYPROTEIN dont add a natural flavouring to help take this diamond in the ruff.

This tastes absolutely fine; quite nutty, which I had no problems with. I wouldn't want to drink it neat with just water, but the first time I used it was in a smoothie and didn't use quite enough liquid so it came out really really thick. The taste was fine and not at all overpowering (unless you're taking it neat I guess), it just adds a slightly grainy texture to whatever you're drinking and a very slight undertone of hazelnuts. Only thing it needs is a bulk discount!

I love this stuff, one scoop of hemp with one scoop of soy in apple juice, banana, nuts, fruit and honey whisked up and its one tasty beverage. On its own it has the taste of a swamp! I have worried about my protein intake (as a strict veggie) and for me Quorn and Tofu just don’t cut it as things to eat. Since using MP Hemp and Soy I have had more energy than I can remember having and feel more alive and vitalised. So all round top marks.

hemp is so much better than whey. Hemp is raw and natural with complete essential amino acids and essential fatty acids. This is a great product, if you are looking for a natural protein source. You can mix as much as you want into a small glass of orange juice and it tastes fine at worst it is like ground hazelnuts just be prepared for it. Men not liking something because it isn't sweet/creamy enough is laughable, this doesn't taste bad, has a slight texture to it just like creatine powder but mix it and neck it. (tastes far better than what most of us neck on a Fri/Sat evening! ;o) Also really good for the road as you don't need milk or a blender. couple of spoons in a bottle of orange juice shake and down! Juice in first then the power whisk it quickly and it disappears in 5-10 seconds. You also don't have a whole pint to drink so good for when wanting small shots volume wise with the same amount of protein, you can drink it before going out without buddha-bloat!

This protein goes down well & with no add bloated feeling like whey protein. I mixed mine like this 1 large MP scoop of Hemp protein, 3 small MP scoop of BCAA powder, 2 small MP Flavouring (Smooth Chocolate), added 150ml of water & shaked it in a protein shaker bottle. Tasted quite nice actually. Next time i will be adding 1 large MP scoop of oats. I instantly feel energised by working out for 2 hours in the gym doing interval training. Hemp Protein is great. If you dont like the taste add some MP Flavouring. Cheers

This stuff is great if you prefer savory tastes, and if whey makes you ill like it does me its even better.\nI thought i would leave a recipe that i use to take mine.\n3 dashes of Lee and Perins\n7 dashes of Tabasco sauce\n200ml of tomato juice\n30gs of hemp powder\n6g barley grass powder\nGood dash of virgin olive oil\nStir well with a long spoon\nground black Pepper to taste but i used quite a bit\n5 dashes of lemon juice\nAnd finaly another 150/200ml tomato juice#\nStir well again.\n\nAdd the ingredients in this order as i think the acid in lemon juice affects the Tabasco sauce.\n\nThis works great for me, im trying to lose weight so have this instead of lunch or after a good long bike ride, the pepper and pepper sauce increases metabolism, the barley juice should be added in lesser amounts to start off so you get used to it.\n\nHope you like my Smokin Virgin Mary.\n
  • Best Protein Yet (12/04/2010)
  • Review:
As a slim guy I've taken a hell of a lot of different protein powders in my life. I used to like Whey - especially for the taste - but when I found out where most whey protein comes from and the way those cows are treated I had to find an alternative. Gandhi once said, "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." \n\nHemp protien sure doesn't taste great but a hard workout shouldn't feel like a walk in the park either! Not drinking it because it doesn't taste like a milkshake is a sad excuse. Man up people.

It's actually good for you and it makes me feel pretty good. The ingredients speak for it's self. I can feel and see the difference and on top of that it's organic!

I don't have anything fancy, just a shaker from this site. I put a large scoop of this in with two small scoops of smooth chocolate, shake it hard three times and I have a walnut whip flavour protein shake. (One that is complete, and that also adsorbs into the body better.) It doesn't repeat on me all day like whey protein does (Yeah you like it going down, lets see how you like it coming back up.) It feels a little grainy going down but so what. If you drink creatine (CEE HCL) with berry blast, you will have no complaints about the taste of this.
  • Great Effect / Awful Taste (04/02/2010)
  • Review:
To answer some of the other posts, I for one eat a lot of unprocessed natural foods, so I'm not adverse to natural tasting products. But this powder mixed in water is awful, almost unpalatable. I could easily take it in a soup though. It lends itself to a more savoury taste.\n\nThe effect however is great, reminds me a lot of a super-foods sprouts powder I used to take, a very energising protein powder, probably due to all the extra nutritional support. \n\nIf your not a cry baby about taste I'd highly recommend it. I'm holding my nose and just gulping it down. Its got a kick as good as coffee.
  • mmmm hemp. (25/09/2009)
  • Review:
Hey Mr Clothier, seriously, I'll have your hemp! Ok, review wise it's gonna taste wierd to someone only accustomed to generic tastes, and obviously we all have preferences. But if one person says it tastes good and another says bad, how're you gonna know? My guess is most of the reviewers here with positive reviews are veggie based like me. I've been experimenting for decades with different foods, and I know that my tastebuds are not reliable as my stomach for telling me whats good for it. And my tastebuds get retrained very quickly. This tastes great in a fruit shake, just don't add too much, and the killer app for any of this stuff for me is Maple syrup. It even makes Spirulina taste good by the spoonful. This stuff is one of the the holy grails of vegetable proteins being one of the most nutritionally compatible substances on the planet for human assimilation. It used to be illegal NOT to grow it in the US. for everything from rope to animal feed to fertilizer to Veg oil. As for the price, Organic cold pressed and freeze dried, if it was olive oil it'd be twice the price. I give it 4 stars as I've only had 1Kg so far, and there's always room for improvement, or change. Anyway, cheers.

I'm an avid fan of Hemp protein and have been using for the last couple of months now and would defaintly recommend it. Like the last review i try to aviod consuming to much milk and find the best way to improve the test when mixing Hemp protein with water is to add a scoop of Ultra Fine Scottish Oats. The only minor draw back i suppose is the price but the quality is excellent.
  • It's ok (28/08/2009)
  • Review:
It's ok. Problems are its extremily expensive. It's nasty in water, it really doesn't mix well, although I could get it down it would leave me feeling sick like I did with whey. BUT it all changes when you mix it with milk, it actually becomes really nice & easy to stomache. You can play about with it, I sometimes used to put milk, natural yogart and instant coffee. That can be really quite nice but you don't want to do it all the time that way. I don't like to drink milk daily as firstly it costs a bomb and b, milk isn't actually good for you, so I prefer having maybe twice a week. I tried all the other milk alternatives, soya, ricemilk, almond milk etc but they were all too sweet and pricey. I tried hemp protein in soup, works well with thick vegatble soups like pea soup. I also tried pressing it together with oil and a geling agent and then frying it, that worked quite well as well but it was a bit of a hassle. I'm going to try pea protein next, see how I fair with that as it is much much cheaper and higher protein content. MY guess is the flavour will be pritty rough so I'm thinking about knocking up a big batch of soups, freazing them and then using that as the mixer.

I have to admit, I was a little nervous about ordering the Hemp protein, having read the mixed reviews. To be safe I just ordered the 1kg bag. I need not have worried, I have to say i actually really enjoy the taste, its a bit nutty if anything. Yes, the texture is a bit odd, slightly chalky, but not unpleasant. With a nutritional profile like this I will certainly be making this a regular in my supplement regime.

  • Better than Whey (12/02/2009)
  • Review:
I used to take whey protein in large or small amounts and either way I'd feel sick during and after consuming, not because of the taste, because I actually liked the taste.\n\nI wanted something natural so I went for the hemp powder, the type of protein is different to whey so you don't need to use the same amount as whey, a lot of people are saying use twice as much to get the same amount of protein, this protein absorbs slower than whey, whey protein digests slow and abosrbs into the body fast and gets wasted, hemp powder aborbs into the system very easilly but the protein sticks around longer for when you need it so you don't need to take it as much or as often.\n\nThe taste isn't all that nice with water, but I mix it with milk and it just tastes like nuts to me, liquid nuts, you get a powdery feel in your mouth from it, but once yours done consuming it it's gone, if little bits are stuck around you can clear out your mouth with another drink and it's all gone, no sick feeling afterwards.\n\nNo huge amount of liquid needs to be consumed with hemp powder like recommended with whey proteins powders, so you don't need a bloat and as it is digested fast it won't slow your metabolism, make you bloated, or make you feel sick.\n\nYou can mix this with so many things including adding it into food like mashed potato, soups, shakes, anything, I mix fruit, milk, chocolate, vegetable and powder (not all at the same time) in a blender and get the goodness from it all.\n\nIt works as a anti-inflammatory and contains a lot of good nutrients, so will aid recovery, reduce swelling, and strengthen joints. I've had a temporary arthritus and this powder has helped to heal from it and help the swelling go down a lot.\n\nMy energy levels are a lot higher than they used to be, and my attitude is better, I am more positive and keep trying when things get tough in life.\n\nThis powder would be enough for me to give it 6 stars if it wasn't for the tiny amount of flavour and the graininess, but it is all worth it and I'll likely continue to take this for the rest of my life.\n\nI don't take that much, just healthy food, creatine, hemp powder, and sometimes multi-vitamins and omega 3-6-9 capsules. But to be honest, with this powder, there isn't much need for omega 3=6=9 capsules or mutlivitamins as long as you take hemp powder and eat healthilly, so overall I will probably save money, and health, compared to whey protein.\n\nAlso I'd just like to mention that when I took whey protein, my size increased a little, strength stayed the same for a long time, once I stopped taking whey my strength went right up and size stayed, since taking hemp powder size and strength have boosted and I can go a long time without working out before any strength is lost, as long as you keep creatine aswell.

  • Review:
This is an add to my previous review.\n\nBeen drinking this for about 5 days now. The person who wrote about using rice milk was a good tip. It tastes very natural with rice milk. Although rice milk is more expensive than milk and that adds to the cost!! Not only that, you get a very healthy non-animal source of protein. You need to take double dosage compared to WPI because of the protein content being 16g per 30g. compared to 28g/30g of WPI. I would say this is a very healthy source of protein. Although very expensive, I wish they would place a bulk discount on this to encourage more purchasing. With whey you get all sorts of reactions if you're allergic to milk. This one, after you drink it you wonder if there's anything going on at all. Body feels at peace and very quiet. With WPI, I could almost feel myself expanding the very moment I begin sucking on it. I'm sure most who take predigested whey feel the same way. I haven't tried bulking up with this protein, but I'll try, i can imagine it being not very easy. We'll see what happens over the months. For now, for health reasons, i'm willing to fork out and put it to the test.

Got this about a week ago and the first mix was awful as I had just mixed it straight with water, I then realized a bit of imagination was required, so tried some frozen berries( get at your local supermarket) a banana, fruit juice and a bit of honey and its fantastic. Has quite a nuttyish taste which i like. Have been mixing it with the finely ground oats carbohydrate too and its pretty good. Maybe not for someone who wants a shake in 10 seconds, but fantastic otherwise. Would really recommend it!
  • Acquired taste...nice and crunchy too! (17/05/2008)
  • Review:
I bought 1kg just for 'try out', I did York Test and realised i was allergic to milk, soya, and eggs. So there went my workout routine out the window. I figured either rice protein or hemp from now. Rice was out of stock so I tried this. \n\nIts not too bad really. One thing though, this thing does not mix. It merely floats inside and around liquid. It does not dissolve into liquid like whey does. So when you drink it , it feels like you're drinking 'grinded hemp seeds' with water. There is always usually about 10% of it left as sediment at the bottom of the cup. And when you're done with it, you can continue to bite and chew the little bits of seeds that's left in your mouth. mmm.. :)\n\nCan you make cookies with it? Sure. Is it the ideal protein? Probably not. Not anywhere as close to WPI. \nBut if you have allergy problems like me, you could get used to it, might work. Has half the biological value compared to WPI. So I probably have to drink twice as much to get the same results. And i'm sure you noticed...) it also costs twice as much too! So you do the math :)\n

After experimenting I've found that sweetened and flavoured with chocolate it has a taste akin to peanuts.\nAnd whereas the texture is indeed gritty/floury it's much easier on the palate than pea, *anything* is better than rice protein and yes, soya is the tastiest but it's still up in the air as to it's detrimental effects on your health. \nIt's expensive but worth it IMO - plus myprotein have it way, way cheaper than anywhere else I've seen.\n

I cant understand some of the poor reviews for this product though I suppose were all different. I have used this powder with rice milk and a banana put through the blender and it tastes great! Banana is perfect for giving it a sweet taste and thickening it up which helps it go down. I much prefer this to the soya or pea protein powders I have tried in the past. Were always hearing about how delicious things are and they rarely live up their descriptions. Hemp is certainly one of those products, but I find this one great, really very tasty if prepared as above and I found that I felt much better when training and using hemp protein. Cant understand the gritty description but as I said, were all different and entitled to our opinions. I felt I had to write this as I thought some of the other reviews were a bit too harsh. I would definitely recommend this product, just buy a small quantity at first to make sure your ok with it.
  • VERY STRONG AND GRITTY (07/08/2007)

I TRIED THIS HEMP\r\n\r\nI WOULD NOT ADVISE THIS FOR SHAKES, ITS ONLY IDEAL FOR BAKING CAKES OR COOKIES OR MEDICINAL USE\r\n\r\nVERY STRONG TASTE AND VERY GRITTY\r\n\r\nIF GOING TO USE AS SHAKE TRY USING ONLY SMALL AMOUNT TO GET ITS NUTRIENTS/PROTIEN HEALTH BENEFITS\r\n\r\nIT WILL INFLAME YOUR THROUGHT GIVING YOU SORE THROUGHT AND SO NEEDS TO BE MIXED WITH EITHER A TABLE SPOON OF HONEY OR MOLASSES IF MAKING SHAKES\r\n\r\nI JUST WISH MYPROTIEN WOULD GET SOME BUFFALO MILK POWDER IN STOCK AS BUFFALO MILK IS VERY EASILY DIGESTED WITH NO SIDE EFFECTS OF COWS MILK. BUFFALO MILK IS THE HEALTHIEST OF ALL MILK. I THINK TESCOS ARE SELLING BUFFALOS MILK BUT ONLY IN LIQUID. I HOPE MYPROTIEN SOURCES BUFALO MILK POWDERT BY ASKING TESCOS WHERE TO GET BUFFALO MILK FROM\r\n\r\n

I was told by a trainer at the gym to get Hemp protein because its biologically 'alive' as opposed to Whey protein which is highly processed and 'dead' and so doesn't digest in the way it should. Whether that's true or not, I am lactose intolerant so need dairy free protein, plus have slight IBS making whey protein not the best option. I thought I would give it a go, and I would say that despite the 'gritty' texture, it tasted fine with the chocolate flavour and sweetner. It also totally agreed with my stomach and I had no ill effects. It loses a star because of the grittiness and the expense, but otherwise I'm very pleased!

Doesn't mix well in shakes (as others have said) - however, makes absolutely stunning brownies/cookies etc. You can pile it in and it actually adds to the taste (kinda nutty). High protein veggy/vegan bars have never tasted so good! Would buy it by the truck load if it wasn't for the high £££ :(
  • Nutritionally good, but texture-wise not so (16/04/2006)

Nutritionally, hemp seed is more like a (v. healthy) mrp, with moderate amounts of low gi carbs and efa's as well. For me, this was good, because in my custom formula it meant i could knock out other ingredients, like some of the oats and flax i normally have, making the overall formula cheaper. Taste is ok, but texture is pretty gritty, and you have to keep shaking the formula up once fluid is added, otherwise it seperates pretty quick.

I've been looking for an Organic Hemp Protein for ages, so was thrilled to find someone stocking it. I ordered a custom 2Kg tub of 35% Maltodextrin, 25% Dextrose, 35% Hemp the same formula as I normally get but with Hemp instead of Soy Protein Isolate.\r\n\r\nI should really have NOT ordered 2Kgs of this without trying a smaller amount first. The Hemp doesn't really disolve and results in a grotty shake that seperates really quickly. It also doesn't go thick like the Soy protein and the taste is very strong, the banana flavouring didn't cover it at all.\r\n\r\nI'll definataly get it again, but just not in such a high percentage. Just be aware that it doesn't really disolve and has a strong taste...

The discription sounded to good to be true and it was, about the \"delicious\" flavour anyway! The awful flavour is just too strong to cover up. Glad I only ordered 0.5kgs! Not happy.
