Psyllium husk is an excellent source of soluble dietary fibre derived from the small herbaceous plant Plantago. Dietary fibre can help promote regularity and support heart health as well as helping with satiety after meals.
Psyllium Husk Powder can be a convenient way to increase your intake of dietary fibre. It has the ability to swell up to 50 times its initial volume when added to liquid which plays an important role in maintaining regularity and gastrointestinal health. It has also been shown to help lower cholesterol.
A daily fibre intake of at least 25 grams is recommended for good health, but on average people consume only 10 to 15 grams.
Psyllium husk is often used in high fibre breakfast cereals to boost the fibre content.
Warning: Without drinking enough liquid this product may swell in the throat, causing blockage or choking. Avoid use if you have ever suffered from esophageal narrowing or swallowing difficulties.
Add 300-350ml of water or fruit juice into our shaker (the less liquid the thicker the shake will be). Then add 1 MP small scoop (1.5g), shake and consume. Use 1-2 times daily or as required. Be sure to drink plenty of additional fluids throughout the day.
1 x level MP Plastic Scoop (small) weighs 1.5g. (not included)
This product is 100% Whole Psyllium Husk with nothing added or taken away.

I suffer from bad cramps in my intestines at night. Ispagula / Psyllium twice a day works really well to fix this for me. Buying it bulk from MyProtein is much better value than sachets from the pharmacy. Its a pretty unpleasant experience to consume in water, but much better mixed with some fresh juice.Goes Well With:50% fruit juice, 50% water

Whole Psyllium Husks
- (16 / Sep / 2013)
Before I used Whole Psyllium Husks, I had a major problem passing stools all my adult life. Now however, within a week, things are so much better. One table spoon on my breakfast each day is now all I need. There's no taste which makes it easy to have with most food. Goes Well With:Shakes, juice, cereals, soups.

Fab for a low carb diet. Mixes well for that fibre we all needed.Goes Well With:Almond & coconut flour to make pancakes
- (21 / Aug / 2013)
I tried Whole Psyllium Husks after being recommended it in a fitness blog about losing weight due to removing waste food in your gut. Don't know if that works or not, but since I've been taking this I've lost 3lb. In any case, they are a good source of fibre. I've not had to drink anymore (it advises you to make sure you're well hydrated). But if you're concerned enough about your fitness to buy these, you're going to be aware of making sure you drink enough. They don't really taste of much but they don't really dissolve so I didn't like them just in water. Added to a shake and they're no problem at all.Goes Well With:Whey protein shake
- (20 / Aug / 2013)
The Whole Psyllium Husks worked well from the outset. There was no bloated feeling, yet filled my stomach to aid over-eating. I'm hoping to lose weight like never before. It's a bit gritty on porridge but have got used to it. It's fine mixed with low-fat yoghurt too. I will be ordering more.Goes Well With:Porridge, yoghurt, glass of squash, although you need to drink it straight down, don't sip.
- (20 / Aug / 2013)
The Whole Psyllium Husks are an excellent choice if you want to add same fibre.
The only problem is that it has a strange taste. It's not bad, but like grass.
- (12 / Aug / 2013)
Can't fault the product.. helps to provide additional fibre to a lacking diet, which helps prevent constipation and provides a regular stool frequency
As the product sits in your gut/bowels etc the husks suck up the water like a sponge, helping to clean out your internal system too. See how the grains swell up in your glass of water if you leave it a while.. and see the difference. So make sure you take on plenty of fluids with this product!
A must for Bowel problems

I tried Whole Psyllium Husks after having being diagnosed with Bile Acid Malabsorption, and had either chronic Diarrhea or severe Constipation with excrutiating pain due to the Bile Acids. Having been prescribed Colestryramine which mops up the Acids it has the side effect of Constipation. Once I started on the Husks the results/relief was very rapid. I can't praise this product enough and take it twice everyday. I couldn't live without it as it allows me to function normally every day. It doesn't taste very nice when mixed with water but that's a very small price to pay for the superb results I get from it. Anyone suffering my condition or IBS should get this product. I promise you it is fantastic!
- (25 / Jul / 2013)
I've tried a few things in order to add fibre to my diet, a couple from MP but the Whole Psyllium Husks are by far and away the best option. It has no taste whatsoever and adds a very slight but almost positive grainy texture to what ever it's put in. Goes Well With:Impact Whey Protien

Whole Psyllium Husks was the best way I had of getting rid of my ongoing constipation. I sprinkle it on my porridge and it doesn't damage the natural flavour. WHERES THIS BEEN DURING MY CUTTING CYCLE
- (05 / Jun / 2013)
Just added about 1.5g Whole Psyllium Husks into my protein shake under the pretense that this would just help me go to the loo more regularly which you know is .. not as regular when you're cutting! I was literally starving before my protein shake (just mixed with water) and then 5 minutes later was wondering why I was sitting here with a full stomach. I researched it and realised the husks actually expand in your stomach and is widely used to hinder appetite... while cleaning out your guts! It kind of sucks because I took it in my pre-workout and now my stomach feels heavy! So I would not recommend that!
I would definitely recommend this product to everyone ever! I never write reviews for products either, so go buy it.
Goes Well With:In protein shakes / milk / water / juice
- (05 / Jun / 2013)
Trying to use 35g+ of fibre a day can be a pain but this Whole Psyllium Husks definitely help bunks it up. It mixes well, leaves little bits, but goes down well. It also has no flavour to it so can go with everything. Definitely recommend it!Goes Well With:Shakes and cereals.

If you have IBS, Crohns, or any kind of bowel issues, buy this now. Thanks to the Whole Psyllium Husks I can make regular, fully formed bowel movements. This has enabled me to get a job and walk around with peace of mind. I cannot stress enough how important getting the right amount of fibre in your diet is. Get too much and you will have issues, but not enough and it will be worse. Myprotein has high quality stuff at what seems to be the lowest price in the UK so I recommend it without hesitation to anyone. It mixes about as well as a fibre supplement possibly can, and they've managed to dull the taste so it doesn't interfere with whatever you mix it with. Also, first class service, fast delivery and the genius innovation of making powder supplement packaging that actually seals shut and stays that way without springing open unlike some companies which shall remain nameless.Goes Well With:soylent

Having increased my food/calorie intake I found I have been feeling quite constipated of late, and passing has been difficult.
I know my diet is quite bad for fibre as I had cut out most carbs and I don't like vegetables. I had ended up buying the orange fibre drink you can get from the chemists for constipation, until I came across the main ingredient in it.. this Whole Psyllium Husks!
I now take the recommended dose 3 times a day with plenty of water (mixed with barley grass powder), and I'm having no problems with 'regularity' now, and feeling so much better inside.
Goes Well With:Water
Cheapest I could find

I've been drinking non-soluble fibre husks for a while. I used to suffer from various stomach issues. Originally I did find them quite hard to swallow, nowadays I can swallow them with some difficulty using clear water, but generally I'll add fruit juice or a cordial. Compared to other fibre products, husks actually work for me. I haven't found a better price than on Myprotein for them, and also the quality seems a lot higher. I can also buy it in bulk, which makes it easier.Goes Well With:Fruit Juice
- (21 / May / 2013)
Whole Psyllium Husks is an awesome product.
- (20 / May / 2013)
Whole Psyllium Husks are an excellent product! I was very cynical prior to using this, but what can I say other than thank you myprotein.Goes Well With:squash & water
- (15 / May / 2013)
A friend bought me some Whole Psyllium Husks. I have had constipation problems for years and years. After taking Psyllium husks for a week something magical happened and it is happening every day since. I had tried everything under the sun to ease constipation but nothing worked as good as Psyllium. I take a spoon of Psyllium husks in a glass of water before breakfast and about an hour later I have the ''most rewarding motion''. Take a bow ''friend'' and thank you.Goes Well With:water, juice.
- (06 / May / 2013)
Although the Whole Psyllium Husks came only coarsely ground, it mixes well in water. It is easy to swallow with or without other ingredients, and it gives my protein shake a touch of texture. It's a slightly slimy feeling as the seeds are ground coarse, but I have come to like it.
This product combined with an acidophillus supplement makes my stool come out absolutely perfect every time. No constipation, ever.Goes Well With:Protein Shake.
- (24 / Apr / 2013)
Purchased Whole Psyllium Husks to help with digestion etc and it really works. It doesn't dissolve but of course it wouldn't. It doesn't really taste of anything which is really good considering its job. Compared to other fibre products on the market this is so much cheaper and does exactly the same, if not better. Definitely a great buy!Goes Well With:water, juice, low fibre diet
- (12 / Apr / 2013)
Short on fibre while doing high protein low carb diet, so I was recommended Whole Psyllium Husks, ordered from Myprotein came very quick and a good re-sealable bag.
I mix a spoon full in each of my shakes and it does the trick for me!
- (06 / Apr / 2013)
Psyllium husk mixed only with water - horrible (better mixed with cordial). However, add a scoop or two to vanilla protein base (or any other flavour), not only do you not taste the husk but it acts as a thickening agent - perfect. Add crushed ice, husk and vanilla powder with fresh espresso and blend and you've got yourself a frap'! It's great for fibre bulking of the bowel, keeps a regular bowel action. Word of warning: do not mix husk with boiling water as it turns into a mucous viscosity. Great value, delivery is always prompt and great fibre product, especially if you have a wheat/gluten allergy/intolerance.Goes Well With:Any protein powder.
- (04 / Apr / 2013)
Whole Psyllium Husks: a definite must on a low carb diet - mixes quite well. Mixing it with a protein powder to make a little pudding/mousse. very chewy but fair enough its high fiber. Always have it in my cupboard.
Big nice s***s
- (04 / Apr / 2013)
I've had trouble having decent and regular bowel movements for quite sometime, doctors have prescribed me laxatives on two occasions. I searched 'Myprotein' for fibre, I didn't want to take a laxative again. This stuff works, unbelievably well, people mention that you get a 'flush' well, that was quite a treat!
If you're on a super high protein diet, I really do recommend this stuff, as it allows everything to get to work down there. I've also noticed because of it, a huge increase in the amount I am able to eat, which is great as I am currently bulking.
It works fast as well, on the first day I took it, my bowel movements were back to how they should be!
- (01 / Apr / 2013)
I have had loose stomach movements for years, and I actually thought that was normal. I have started using Whole Psyllium Husks and it is excellent, I am having near normal stools. The stool is a different texture due to the fibre.
I will continue to use this, 20g in one go per day before my last meal.
As for mixing and taste, I rated 5* because this isn't meant to be nice, it is a small price to pay for the results. If you have had protein shakes with oats etc you will find this easy enough.
- (08 / Mar / 2013)
This stuff is great does exactly what it says on the tin.
Also the delivery system and the tracking is absolutely perfect - arrived on the minute - and I live at the back of beyond in rural Aberdeenshire. Everything just works - very confidence inspiring. Greg Johnston (A satisfied customer) wish everything on the net was like this...
This is what i been looking for...
- (27 / Feb / 2013)
I've had a bad tummy for quite a while now, about 5years. Constantly feel constipated especially when I'm stressed. Have been to the docs and they prescribe medication, which have side effects and overall don't ever really work.
Then I came across this and after reading the reviews and seeing the price, i figured its worth a shot. didn't realise that it could have been possibly the best thing i bought this year, (and I've bought a house and a brand new car this year, lol)!
I mixed half a large scoop with almost a full shaker of water, and 2 scoops of instant oats. Took a few swigs, and it wasnt bad at all. I was planning on coming to the reviews section and mentioning that all the other people commenting on how it's too gloopy are just moaning, but i left about half of it in the shaker for another 2-3 minutes while I answered a phone call and on returning to it, it was so thick it wouldnt fall out the shaker even if i took the cap off and tipped it upside down. lol.
added a bit more water and gave it another shake, and necked the rest of it in one go, was fine. I would say you have to be able to down it because if you cant, and u let it get gloopy it will probably make u choke, i.e clog your esophagus/throat momentarily.
Simply mix it with plenty of water though and down it as quick as possible and you will be fine.
the gloopyness is not a unwanted side effect of this product, it is the magic behind it... I've been a few times today and each time it was effortless.
I did research on this product, and it does seem that the only side effect worth worrying about is choking, but as long as youre aware that this is supposed to happen, but in your stomach/colon not in your mouth or your flask you will be fine.
I've taken a similar product called normacol, I say similar because it also sucks water and expands helping you pass more easily. The problem with normacol is that it comes in granules, not much smaller than whole coffee beans and the way you take it is too put a spoonful on your tongue and wash it down with water, twice!. That isnt easy as it sounds, i often coughed and spluttered but I continued with it because like these husks it does work.
Problem with Normacol is that it can cause your colon to bloat, literally made me look round.. oh and did also did make me fart allot. These husks dont have that effect. Also the urge to go to the toilet isnt have as desperate as normacol. At times Ive been out on the road etc, and have felt the need to go but without being able to it can be quite uncomfortable/painful, with these husks, I dont have that urgency.. So it gets 5stars for everything (even the mixability because like I said you need to understand that is what its supposed to do, so just neck it quick!!
Sorry about the long review but if anyone here had problems like i had (IBS - aka a doctors way of saying I dont know whats wrong with you) then this might just be the thing youre looking for, certainly was for me, beats me why my doctor hasnt suggested it yet! BUY IT!!Goes Well With:I mixed it with instant oats. If you find it too gloopy I wouldnt mix it with anything.

"I've been using this stuff for about a week as for a month or so my stomach had been way out, it was just awful. After a week of taking it my stomach is almost completely back to normal. I take about 10g per day. I add the husk to a large glass, normally 3/4 pint of fruit juice such as a supermarket's apple juice, or grapefruit if you like it a little sour. Personally I don't find the taste too negative but I do prefer it in juice to plain water. It is important to drink enough water during the day."
- (24 / Apr / 2012)
"have to say was not impressed with stuff at all to begin with as i was taking 1.5 grams twice a day and saw almost no effect.. ive upped to to between 3 and 6 grams a time 3-4 times a day (depending on how much protein and fibre im consuming) now i have to say this stuff SERIOUSLY works! fantastic product just a shame the instructions on the pack tell u to use far too little... if you are finding that you movements are slow/painful/straining/hard/dry or all of these then i recommend take more than 1.5 grams, if you consume 150 grams of protein a day id say around 28-35g of fibre will do it.. but remember you get fibre out your grains, fruit and veg so no need to take 35g of husk.. keep a food diary with you protein, carbs, calories and fibre consumption so you can see when ur getting too much or too little, defo help me alot.. this stuff is best taken with meals or right after a meal to avoid the bloated feeling. taste and mixability are not great altho a quick blend does the trick but this is a supplement not at gourmet meal .. nonetheless i found this product to work wonders.. just at the right dose :) thanks "

"I've always had bowel trouble and things didn't get much better when I added protein shakes to my diet (it's hard to reduce carbs but keep enough fibre in your diet), so I tried psyllium. Not only is it really cheap (much cheaper than lactulose!) for a decent sized bag that lasts ages, it really works. I've been using it for a few weeks now and my bowels are now very happy indeed. Wasn't sure of the best way to use it at first, but now have a few tips I thought I'd pass on. If you use a blender, don't blend for too long, it turns the mixture into a gag-inducing foam! Also, I believe psyllium is a good source of fibre because it absorbs water and holds it in the gut, which softens stools. As everyone says, you do need to consume a lot of water with this stuff. I found what works really well is to add a teaspoon to a small glass of water and stir every min or two. Keep it in the glass for at least 5-10 minutes. It eventually absorbs the water and turns to a wallpaper paste consistency and the husks become much softer and less grainy in texture. Then add this to your shake or, if adding to a blender with the rest of your shake or smoothie, blend for no more than 1-2 seconds. I've found by doing this the psyllium is practically unnoticeable!"
- (21 / Mar / 2012)
"Horrible texture but I am very funny with textures (can't generally drink anything thicker than water). I mix it with ~100ml water and superfood xs, down it and follow it with about another pint of water. It does the job well enough for me to continue drinking what feels like a glass of dandruff every morning."
- (22 / Jan / 2012)
"this stuff is incredible, it is now part of my staple diet, i put it in with my morning protien shake. really does flush the system, will never go without"
- (06 / Oct / 2011)
I must say I am surprised how efficient this product is. I used apple fibre before changing to this stuff but this is much better and cheaper too. I take 2x4 small scoops but I think I try 3x4 or even 4x4 as my diet is pretty poor in fibre.
- (31 / Jul / 2011)
"Having been on a high protein diet recently I found that I had quite a few digestive issues. My friend recommended these to me and asked to give them a try. After 3 days of taking them I kept getting bad wind-like pain in my abdomen, After about 30 minutes I felt ""the rush"" I had been warned about coming on. Just got home in time to experience the world falling out of me but ever since then I have had miles better movements, regular and soft (but not runny). Now an absolute staple in my diet and can't live without."
- (04 / May / 2011)
"This stuff works! But it must be taken with plenty of water. Pour a glassful of water (about 200ml) into your shaker, add a small MP scoop or a rounded teaspoonful of the product, close lid, shake very well for 3 seconds and drink as quickly as possible before it starts to thicken. Then drink another glass of water on top. Putting the dry powder into your mouth and washing it down is definitely *not* advisable. If you're also taking creatine you will be drinking plenty of water thoughout the day anyway but if not on creatine then drink lots of water both with this product and during the day; the results are excellent, goodbye constipation. I take it twice a day, with breakfast and with my evening meal so it helps digestion by adding extra fibre. It's a lot heathier for everyone, training or not, to have proper and regular digestive ""throughput"" and this stuff does the trick and does it well. I think it is good that this is a finer powder rather than the whole husks. And it's a lot cheaper than buying ""Fybogel"" at the chemist, which has the same ingredient bulked out with artificial sweetners and colourings so cut out the chemicals, get this stuff instead and do your body a favour."
- (13 / Apr / 2011)
Great product. Always had large hard stools due to increased protein intake but that is a think of the past with this. Heaped spoonful every morning in orange squash and go more regularly and no pain anymore. Cant actually live without it now.
