Tastes good, much like any other hot chocolate. Mixes really smooth with an electric hand blender and the protein froths it up so you get a nice frothy drink. The downside is that it has a sucralose aftertaste, which is a bit off putting. Would be better as an unsweetened version I think.
This product has to be the greatest protein product I have ever tasted. I'm usually a little skeptical of buying such products as generally I have to, against my wanting, endure and not enjoy it. However, this is a fantastic tasting, protein packed and high flavored powder that is great before bed.
I bought this a month ago as I have an extremely sweet tooth and thought I could use this as a replacement. I followed the guideline of a scoop and it was far too sickly and so put to the back of the cupboard. Have just made again but using a normal portion if you was using proper hot chocolate of a heaped teaspoon and wow it's delicious! Definitely hitting the sugar spot. Does have sugar but nowhere near as bad as a chocolate replacement. Would recommend very yummy. Goes Well With:A good movie and blanket on cold days.
Love this! Kills the sweet tooth late at night and excellent for coming in from the cold. Mix 1 and a bit scoops with some skimmed milk to get around 25g of good tasty protein!Goes Well With:Life!
Mixes alright for me, tastes the same as most hot chocolates. When I drink most protein drinks I struggle, I get an indigestion kind of feeling so they take me ages to finish, with this it just takes a minute. Due to the price being even cheaper than a lot of other protein powders I am going to be using this a lot. It tastes best with milk, but still decent with water, I microwave a little over 90 seconds and think it'd be fine around 2 minutes. For the taste, digestion, treat with biscuits, get this.Goes Well With:Milk, water
Was very pleased when MyProtein had this hot chocolate up and in all honesty I am very impressed with the taste of it! It does not taste like the real high calorie hot chocolate but its a very close representation of it. I would say 85% real taste was very smooth, very easy and quick to make. I find its best with milk or even better soya milk. Hunger and craving wise it did the trick. I had mine just before I went to bed and did not wake up in the middle of the night hungry. all in all I give this thumbs up! I will be buying again!
Delicious smooth drink which is also high in protein it makes a change to have nice hot drink in winter instead of cold shake, love this product.Goes Well With:low fat high protein cheese omlette delicious after training or any other time of day
Love this product. It mixes well and tastes good. I don't heat it up, but just mix it with milk to increase the protein and improve the taste. Please create a version without the unhealthy Sucralose though... I don't like to ingest artificial sweeteners. If it really needs one, could you not use Stevia instead?Goes Well With:Raw milk
but sweeter, and creamier. I would have given this 4 stars but it's just a little too sweet, otherwise quite similar to Cadbury's Hot Chocolate. I tried following the instructions, but found it mixed better when heating the milk first, then adding the hot chocolate to my old shaker and mixing it with my hand held blender. Adding additional impact whey didn't affect the sweetness or taste. I'll still use this but it's not quite chocolately enough, and a bit too sweet to have every day. One scoop works out at about 5 teaspoons. So seems good value. Too early to tell whether this will help with my increased protein (and strength) goals.Goes Well With:Milk. Other whey protein, non fruit flavours.
This is a lovely Hot chocolate if made right. I made it with boiling water and blended with folk and omg how disgusting, lumps of chocolate in your mouth. I now make it with 300mls of Almond milk 1 scoop of chocolate and blend with a whisk, put in microwave for 3 mins ( BIG jug needed ) as it boils over. And then pour into your favorite mug....... ENJOY xxxx I am now back to buy some more
Have you ever thought what it might be like to eat plastic? I haven't because I would rather eat food, but for those people who would like to try such a thing, then this product is for you. Myprotein hot chocolate has been carefully formulated to taste just like eating chocolate wrapped plastic! Amazing! Needless to say I have wasted my money, cannot return the product and will never buy it again.
I thought I'll try this as it was 40% off. Unfortunately it's not very good. It's sweet but not chocolaty enough and has an artificial flavour. Only tried it with water. I normally have Options 40kcals hot chocolate which has much better flavour. Won't be buying this again. Stick to normal whey protein.
It's not unpleasant tasting, however, the product that I've received has been cut with pea protein isolate... Most people probably wouldn't know, however I happen to have used pea protein isolate every day for many years therefore I know the taste and texture inside out, and they are absolutely unmistakable. The powder is thick, creamy and chalky/floury, and when you press the bag, the powder makes a squeaky sound. The texture thins when the powder is mixed with a hot liquid, decreasing the likelihood of anyone noticing, but when you mix it with a cold or room temperature liquid, the powder is thick, floury, creamy and non-dissolving. There are definitely dairy proteins in here as stated, but there is also a percentage of pea protein, which is very cheap. Tut tut My Protein. You aren't the first protein powder retailer to cut one of your products with pea protein isolate, and I'm sure you won't be the last..
Lovely hot chocolate, nice and rich! Great for before bed! Decent casein content!! Love it!
Really tasty !!I have one a day , really fills me up and picks me up when tired from training. I add hazelnut milk , tastes divine ha Goes Well With:Hazelnut milk
I wasn't sure about ordering this but I am so glad I did! The powder mixed well with milk and the taste is amazing. It's quite sweet but that is what I like in a hot chocolate. The only issue I had was when it was warming in the microwave and it bubbled over the top a little bit. I will try it on a different setting next time! Over all I am very impressed with this product :)Goes Well With:Milk
To be honest I don't normally drink hot chocolate but I found this to be very pleasant indeed. Make sure you mix it well beforehand, put it in the microwave for a minute or two, and you're done. You've got yourself a great tasting treat with a decent amount of protein. My wife, who normally loves hot chocolate, found this to be too sweet but for me, it's lovely. I can see her point though because you need a sweet tooth to really enjoy it. Obviously you're not really going to see any gains by drinking this stuff but that's not the point. Use it as a replacement for those times when you're craving a high-calorie, unhealthy, high-sugar treat and take all the guilt away, whilst getting some extra quality protein down you.Goes Well With:Protein cookie
This hot chocolate is a must if your a chocolate lover, I use a little hand whisk to whisk mine up and it creates a lovely smooth drink with a good frothy topping. Impressed from day one quickly in my top face products Goes Well With:Anything
This protein hot chocolate is the healthier alternative that I've been looking for !! And it tastes great. My sister now steals it on me and has ditched her Cadbury hot chocolate!
Tastes so nice but good luck in mixing it so it won't be clumpy. I do like my evening hot chocolate but I have yet to find a way to avoid the pebbles of powder floating on the drink.Goes Well With:Fireplace and big fuzzy throw
I've had protein hot chocolate from other companies before and they've been okay but I've always felt like I needed to put in some normal hot chocolate mix as well to make it actually taste good. Not this one, it tastes really good without any assistance from anything else. It even tastes good with water which I think is a tough thing to do. Don't follow the instructions on the packet that tell you to stir it in, you'll get serious lumps if you do that. Shake it up in your shaker before pouring it into your mug to heat up in the microwave and it'll be silky smooth and taste incredible. Protein content could be a little higher but it's cool really, I use 2 scoops and fill up my big sports direct mug. Get it.Goes Well With:Snacking desires for something sweet.
This is a really nice product. It tastes amazing and hits the sweet spot. I love that it gets frothy on top too which I've not seen often with regular hot chocolate powders. I find it a tad hard to mix in, it's 'poofy' like flour almost. But either add it straight to a pan with the warming (skimmed) milk or if you are using a microwave: I heat half the milk for one minute, then mix the powder, then top up with the rest of the milk and heat till completed.Goes Well With:Skimmed milk and bedtime
Really enjoy this, tastes as good as your normall full fat/sugar hot chocolate. Make sure you add the powder to water and then microwave it, as the first time I added boiling water from the kettle to the powder and it doesn't mix well that way, but the instructions do state to add it to cold water and microwave it :) Goes Well With:On its own
Perfect mixing instructions: - 300ml skimmed milk (works best- have tried almond milk but not as nice) - weigh out 25g (about 1 scoop provided full) - microwave the milk for 2 mins- (my mic is approx 900W)- until very hot- BUT DO NOT BURN THE MILK- adjust as necessary -put milk in protein mixer with mesh grill and lid ready, add either the full scoop of protein or half- depending on how much time you have- if i'm in a rush, I just throw the 25g in at once- if you have time, put half in, mix, then add the other half - secure the lid of the protein shaker with the mesh grill secured too, make sure lid is secure- shake for 10 seconds then open up lid because the pressure will have built up from the heat- close the lid and shake again - then simply use a sieve- pour the contents through the sieve into a large mug- PERFECT HOT CHOCOLATE WITH NO LUMPS! there shouldn't be any lumps anyway but I can't stand them so I do this to make sure - I usually prepare the hot chocolate for a pre-bed drink, so I will simply keep it in the protein shaker until ready, heat it up in the mic for 1 minute, stir it, then another 30 seconds.....PERFECT HOT CHOCOLATE. Goes Well With:skimmed milk- 25g of this hot chocolate is plenty
Very tasty hot chocolate - doesn't taste much like whey which I loved. I would recommend using 2/3rds or less of a scoop in a regular mug as otherwise it gets very messy when trying to mix it in! Tastes best very hot!Goes Well With:A cold evening
Would recommend that you only get this if you enjoy tepid chocolate flavour scrambled egg. The "may contain egg" statement is a huge underestimate and I defy anyone who thinks their mixing technique is on point to still not have to neck this in 30 seconds after heating to avoid the inevitable curdling. Good luckGoes Well With:Bacon, probably....
I got this because I have stopped drinking tea, but really missed having a warm drink at night. This is perfect! I use warm milk and found it mixes best using a mini whisk. It tastes gorgeous and I don't think you'd know it was protein hot chocolate if you didn't know, it doesn't really have that stodgy protein taste. Will certainly buy again. Goes Well With:warm milk.
This fast like any one of the big brand name hot chocolates out there, only with the goodness!
Tastes far better than all these "low calorie" hot chocolates you find in supermarkets. If I'm craving chocolate having a protein hot chocolate sorts it right out! Great way to get a last 15g of protein in before bed, it's relaxing to drink and not heavy on the stomach so perfect with hot almon milk before you go to sleep!Goes Well With:Alpro Unsweetened almond milk and a teaspoon of cacao!
I love the hot chocolate, it's the chocolate fix I need!! It's very sweet but very tasty :)
Good taste and texture, nice hot drink alternative.
Love this yummy ......it's my little non guilty treat that I have for my snack and in the evening just love it Goes Well With:Water
Tastes so good. Nice and mixes really well. I have it with skimmed milk and use a hand whisk which gives it a nice froth. Better than most hot chocolate and satisfies my sweet tooth.Goes Well With:Skimmed milk
Unreal taste nice hot drink selection when you got people around to, need some more flavours now some peanut cookie or white chocolateGoes Well With:Water and milk
The drink is very sweet but tasted lovely. It's quick and easy to make and has a good chocolate flavour. It's good for when you have chocolate cravings!Goes Well With:Anything!
This tastes fine - nice hotel choc. Problem is its basically protein powder you heat up! Would be much better if you could mix it straight with hot water (like normal hot chocolate! ) - this is a real fail in the concept. I bought first taking in a skiing hol for ease but ended up having to take a shaker with me and drink it half cold as no kitchen to heat it up - just had to use as little milk or cold water as possible to mix then add hot water which worked ok. Goes Well With:Bed time
I wanted a way to keep up the slow protein intake while I slept. I bought some MP Protein Hot Chocolate and gave it a try. My first thoughts where much sweeter than I like and not as chocolatey as I would like. I thought about using it to bake cookies and have found it very versatile and useful for a number of deserts......another story. I bought some MP Micellar Casein and found by mixing half a scoop of hot choc, half a scoop of casein and a couple of teaspoons of cocoa powder, it made a much richer drink. Finally I started adding a desert spoon of peanut (sometimes almond) butter as well and there is barely a night goes by I don't have one. Delicious.Goes Well With:Whey and cocoa, peanuts and enough cold black coffee to make a hard paste, roll into a sausage (use greaseproof paper) and chill in the fridge for at least 8 hours. Looks a bit like a black pudding but tastes great! Also great for making cookies!
Couldn't get the clumps out to save my life, it's like when I tried to use the impact whey isolate to make hot chocolate. Tastes like the whey too.
Packet says "Add 25g to 150-200ml of water or milk in a blender bottle and shake" Do NOT follow these instructions or you will end up with a mug full of froth. It does mix really well which is a positive and I have a sweet tooth which is the reason I ordered this drink but even for me its way too sickly and makes me feel sick.
This stuff is the nuts!! I've found works best with an electric hand mixer ... Otherwise can get lumpy. Tastes like cadburys I think, absolutely delicious :) no milk needed to be added although over Xmas I added low fat squirty cream on top. Would continue to buy this even if didn't train ever again! (Like that's ever gonna happen!) lol top product 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼Goes Well With:Protein chocolate brownies
Tastes like normal hot chocolate. The trick to mixing is use a glass jug and whisk it up with a fork. In a cup it's very hard! a good source of slow release protein Overall good product if you can be bothered to make it!
I have been a hot chocolate addict for years, having two big ones a day. I train hard (marathon runner who spins a lot too) and had been advised to up my protein content to help with recovery. Don't like protein shakes so this was ideal solution so thought give a try ....and that was almost six months ago. Completely converted to this and such an easy way for me to get my protein up - and still have my hot chocolate addiction thriving! I make with about half a litre of unsweetened almond milk (I mix the scoop with my 75ml first and then fill up stirring all the time before microwave - means get no bits this way) and it's awesome - tastes better than my normal favourite hot chocolate but really noticed after few weeks how my muscles were recovering better from hard sessions and definitely down to increased protein. Definitely recommend this - such an easy tasty way to get protein in! Goes Well With:Unsweetened almond milk
Took a while to find best way to mix and heat. Quite a sweet taste, but 15g of protein in a nice warm drink.Goes Well With:Water
Top Tip: DON'T shake a shaker when the milk is hot. I did this [vigorously] and experienced what can only be described as a chocolate pressure explosion which made the windows rattle, left me with sticking up hair and looking like I was wearing a mud mask. 2 hours later after cleaning up my kitchen which looked like an industrial accident at Cadbury World, I needed counselling, never mind a hot chocolate. I put this powder in a shaker and spoon stirred the product in. Don't do this as the powder is very dry and it will just chill out on the top of your milk like it's lying in a hammock and then you will get horrible lumps ( and not Impact whey lumps, i mean like plasticy ones that are proper nasty). ... So next time I will try the 'shake it in a shaker ' then heat method. Taste wise it's a little chocolately but too 'sugary' sweet, not chocolately enough. It's OK and not unpleasant but for me i'd prefer it to have more of a chocolate edge and less sweet. It is much like a cadbury hot choc but twice as sickly sweet. It's worth a try though and I will use the packet so all is not lost. Goes Well With:Your kitchen.
Its great drink when you want something sweet to drink, but this mixture is a little too sweet. Best when mixed with real cocoa powder. Mixes poorly, cant stir with a spoon because little clumps will still be there.Goes Well With:cocoa powder
Absolutely love this stuff, it has become a daily staple of mine and I can hardly go to bed without it. Great if you haven't quite hit your protein goal for the day and also to maximize gains overnight because of the casein content. Good for breakfast too to taper protein through the morning and it is extremely satisfying. As someone mentioned, using an electric whisk (or milk frother as I use) does help to mix it up very nicely and gives it a great texture. Blends well enough in a shaker; major froth seems to be achieved either way! I have made it with both almond milk and skim milk and both are perfect. Have to keep an eye on it in the mic though as the froth tends to overflow. Really wish this came in bigger packs as I'm buying it every few weeks (though I do use double serving). Two warnings for the uninitiated: do not shake once hot (explosive shaker syndrome) and also do not heat the milk up before adding powder to it (lumps). Goes Well With:Alone
Excellent to have anytime of the day, a great addition to boost protein intake!
Naughty cravings have been sorted by this drink thanks my protein ! Tastes great a little on the sweet side so just think cadburys hot chocolate and your on the money ! Doesn't mix amazing so don't use a full scoop otherwise it goes a little thick and lumpy unless you like it that way ! Good product
Fair enough between meals .. Overall excellent quality
I love this, and it's only 84 calories! Mixed with cold water, I zap it in the microwave for 1 minute, stir, then zap it for another minute and it's all mixed, no lumps, and warm enough to start drinking! Great now winter is here and satisfies my sweet tooth!
