Micellar Casein is a, slow release protein derived from milk. It's absorbed slowly by the stomach allowing a tapered supply of amino acids to the muscle over a prolonged period of time. This makes Micellar Casein the ideal protein supplement for between meals and before bed. During sleep, the body is normally starved of nutrients as it is impractical to consume food and therefore, a slow release protein can be ideal for recovery throughout the night.
This protein source has a complete amino acid profile and contains branched chain amino acids (BCAAs). Micellar Casein has 24g of protein per serving which will contribute to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass.
Micellar Casein is ideal for anyone engaged in a long term physical training plan where getting the right dietary balance is absolutely essential. It's also an excellent supplement to help increase daily protein intake. As a dietary supplement we recommend consuming before bed or between meals, 2-3 times per day.
Add 200-300ml of water or milk into our shaker (the less liquid the thicker the shake will be). Then add 30g, shake and consume. Use just before bedtime for optimum results, but can also be taken between meals or 2-3 times a day.
Note: We advise that all servings are measured using an accurate set of scales. While we make every attempt to provide an accurate equivalent measure using our Myprotein scoops, these are only approximate and are not a substitute for using a standardised measuring device.
Do not exceed the stated recommended daily dose. This product is a food supplement and therefore should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Store in a cool dry place, out of the reach of young children.

I have no special qualms or advantages to this product. I've received it properly packed, and tried out a bit of casein in yogurt. I had no chalky feelings or problems in mixability like others (not that I care much about mixing). As for taste, I don't care about taste, I order my stuff unflavoured whenever I can, so no negative or positive points on that. As for effectiveness, It's most useful long hours post workout or taking it at night. You can consume it in the evening to safeguard your muscles when you're doing IF (14-16 hours).
This product works effectively in regards to what you want a casein shake to do, it mixes ok, not as good as Optimum Nutrition's one, and it tastes ok as a shake, again not as good as Optimum Nutrition either, which in my opinion is the best one you can buy, this product however is competitively priced which is why i opted to try it out, you get 700g more with MP for the same price as ON, in this regard though i do think you get what you pay for as ON is a better quality product, this however is a workable low budget option.Goes Well With:oats, yoghurt, home baking recipes just not a good shake.
Bought a 1kg bag of vanilla after reading everyone else's reviews and I'm glad I did as the usual next day aches/stiffness has all but gone since taking this before bed. Firstly, don't expect this to be as smooth/easy to drink as Impact Whey. On my first mix I followed the packet instructions but found it to be quite thick, with a lot of froth and with an incredible chalky after taste / texture which I ended up pouring away and feeling quite disappointed with it. After reading some reviews about this protein source on other forums/websites this wasn't anything uncommon and I noticed a lot of comments about how Myprotein's is the best on the market so stuck with it. Either use a blender or a hand whisk and jug and the mix is much easier to drink and tastes a lot nicer. There's still a slight chalky texture but you quickly get past this. I'm also using more water (roughly 400ml).
I give this product 5/5 on everything. Firstly, it works. I noticed muscle gain and fat loss since I started using it daily before sleep. I wake up feeling really well even after a hard workout the day before. Secondly it mixes really well with milk and tastes good (I use unflavoured). If you have problems with lumps in your shake try this: using a fork mix the powder with a small amount of milk first to create a thick batter. Once you got that smooth, add more milk and keep stirring. Add some flavoured yogurt or milk if you like. Hope this helpsGoes Well With:Whey protein Magnesium and zinc
After doing a lot of research into this product and protein in general, I read an article saying to mix Casein with Whey post workout for maximum benefits. I swear by it now. You get the initial protein hit from the Whey and then this product slowly drip feeds your muscles for up to 8 hours after your workout ensuring you get the most from your workout both with size and strength. When mixing it does tend to froth up a bit but if you leave it to settle for a few minutes, it's fine. Really helps to stop the DOMS (Delayed onset of muscle soreness) meaning you can train again sooner.Goes Well With:Impact Whey and BCAA powder
I bought this for my wife to have at breakfast as she is trying to lose a bit of weight. She has an extremely busy job and tends to snack rather than eat well balanced meals. She has now has this in a morning as a supplement to her breakfast and it helps her not feel hungry until lunch (when she would preveously snack) She also uses it before bed when exercising late to help muscle repair overnight. (I know there are better products for this job but she's not a big supplement believer...yet!) Overall its a good product. She mixes it with a little milk and mainly water. The taste is pretty good (natural banana) but it does tend to get rather frothy when mixed in a shaker. We've found the best way is to mix it and drink immediately, don't give it a chance to settle! The texture is a bit chalky but I think most casein tastes this way.Goes Well With:30% Milk to 70% Water.
Great taste, easy to drink when you get to the shake, does not mix well, foams a lot when shaken and i feel you may lose some of the protein content because of that. not sure i'd buy it again for that reason.
Glad it doesn't taste too artificial. Just the right amount banana taste so it doesn't overpower. Blends and shakes well
Recently improved grain size, much finer than before, which has improved its mix-ability. Generally a very good product and should be one of your base supplements (along with whey and creatine). Flavorless tastes the best (like milk).
The product was delivered quickly and and on time. I had chosen the chocolate flavour, when made up with 200ml water it is still very thin and when shaken there is quite a bit of froth. The taste is OK. I have used it in with oats and unsweetened cocoa to give the oats some flavour which works well
This is a good product and I've noticed good strength gains and look better after 2 weeks use. Appears to be working well with a good diet and training 3/4 times a week. Only complaint I have is it leaves a chalky sensation on your teeth/tongue though maybe I'm not adding enough liquid?Goes Well With:Whey Protein, Green Tea Extract & Omega Oils
Very good before sleep, a little harder to mix but if you add enough water or milk it's great. I drink one every night before sleeping, and sometimes during the day i add half a scoop or a full scoop knowing that i need some slowly releasing protein for a busy day.Goes Well With:water, milk, whey
Good product seen results, mixes well and tastes good better than most shakes!
This product is excellent, very tasty and easy to mix. i would recommend it to everyone.
This is a great product for meal replacements and is a must have for before bed for optimum recovery. You don't wake feeling hungry. Especially when mixed with oats! You should know though that this is not like Whey, the appearance, feel, look and taste are very different. I find it to appear very similar to corn flour, just a different colour. It has a slight chalky taste but nothing bad and this protein is really meant to be mixed with milk so the taste is masked really well especially with a flavoured version (I use chocolate). I use casein before bed every night. Goes Well With:Iso pro 97, oats and milk
bought the vanilla which tastes great. mixes a little more difficult than whey, but this seems to be the case with any micellar caseinGoes Well With:milk before bed
I have used it for 2weeks now and it tastes good, mixes easily and has kept me fuelled through the night. I feel good and look betterGoes Well With:Water
Mixes ok , tastes a bit chalky tho , only do it before bed so not sure if it's working yet
Been using this for about a month. Seems to be working well. I got natural strawberry and it tastes like...natural strawberry. The powder is very very fine, once mixed with water it becomes quite frothy... that's probably normal for Casein. Helps with recovery, if I drink this before bed along with taking my usual proteins, it speeds up recovery.Goes Well With:Water
I bought this product specifically for slow release proteins at bed time. It certainly keeps me full overnight after a training session. The flavour is good, I tried banana and it was not too sweet. I do find the product very fine and it messy to mix and I find it difficult to get the mix right It is too early to tell if it is helping the muscle build
Hey guys First of all I'd like to say that my protein products are amazing and totally back them 100% But I was not a fan of this product The taste was very nice but the texture was horrible I had it with milk wich may be a problem? Other than that I have never had a problem with any my protein products
Doesn't mix well and the unflavoured is pretty disgusting. Very chalky consistency. Not too bad if you add flavouring to it though, I thought it would be like the Whey Protein which is amazing. I only use this product just before bed so as long as I can drinking I don't really care. If you are going to buy unflavoured then some flavour drops are a must in my opinion. Goes Well With:Flavouring.
The best quality and tasting Micellar casein I have ever tried! Chocolate flavour goes well with my blueberry protein pancakes and a touch of cinnamon. Great pre bed slow release protein! Love it!Goes Well With:Milk or yoghurt!
Only been on this now for 3 weeks but yeah it seems good so far. Mixes well and as for taste it's gotta be one of the best in my opinion if not the best as it's unflavoured it can be mixed in with anything. I use it just before bed mixed in with natural Greek yogurt and honey, I mix 50% myprotein casein with 50% myprotein impact whey isolate. It's also great to use as a meal replacement if caught short.Goes Well With:Unwith oured Pretty much goes wuth anything
Hi Purchased this at a good price. Mixed with water it's fine.... Mixed with semi-skimmed milk....... IT WAS AN AWSOME TASTE. When mixed within a shaker and shaken hard it does get very frothy. I now just turn the mixer upside down many times, wait 5 -10 mins and its great. Not sure of results yet as I've only just returned to training. Regards Mark Jones
Usually before bed I've been taking ZMA then about an hour later CEE, BCAA and a protein shake made up with 200ml water, 200ml skimmed milk, 1 scoop porridge oats and 1 scoop whey protein. A lot of the time I end up having really restless nights so I switched the whey out for this and it's made a huge difference, I now sleep pretty much uninterrupted (I was waking 3-4 times) for a good 6½-7hrs and feel a lot more energised in the morning. I've not tried any other brands of casein but whilst this is doing such a good job I won't be going anywhere else! One thing to note however is that (at least with milk) it froths up really badly mixing in a mixmaster shaker which can be a pain.Goes Well With:milk, water and porridge.
I have the chocolate smooth, tastes good and easy to mix!! nice and easy to have before bed.Goes Well With:Natural Greek Yogurt!!
I recommend this product. Taste si good. Probably the best casein I ever try!
I've been using Micellar Casein for a while now, and I thoroughly recommend it to all who are seeking decreased recovery periods. I usually have a shake about 15-30 minutes before bed and I can honestly say (and this may not be the same for everyone) it has improved my quality of sleep. For anyone trying milk proteins/ casein you need to be prepared for a dry, chalky taste - I usually counter this with half a teaspoon of sweetener which makes it far easier to swallow. I usually stick with Strawberry flavour, but I can imagine they are all pretty similar in taste. Goes Well With:1/2 sweetner & water
Nice flavour (natural chocolate)mixed with skimmed milk. The mixability isn't that good but it keep me full all night.Goes Well With:Skimmed milk
Great stuff, keeps hunger at bay during the night and mixes really well. Only downside was unflavoured tastes awful.Goes Well With:Milk
Good protein, mixes perfect with no lumps in the shakers with a ball. It is a bit chalky but definitely nothing ridiculous and perfectly manageable. Strawberry (normal not natural) flavour is nice.
Great quality, taste and flavour. Mixes good with milk or water. Great for bedtime aminos to keep the muscles growing while asleepGoes Well With:Water or milk
I 've tried many brands, including On and Nutrabolics, they proved bad when it came to mixing with water or milk... Then I decided to take a leap and try something bought from the Internet and found myself at myprotein. The Casein I bought is simply great, taste-quality-mixability-wise, I 've been using Myprotein products for quite some time now and never been let down, I do recommend Myprotein products to everyone !!!
I use as a slow release protein fix before bed. If you will use it as a hot chocolate like I do, its important to follow the instructions and mix with cold fluids first, then heat, otherwise it will not mix. Taste is pretty good for a supplement but sometimes I add a bit of 'real' hot chocolate powder in if it fits my macros that day.Goes Well With:As a hot chocolate
Got the chocolate flavour. Personally I find it abit too heavy to drink last thing at night, as I normally get banana/vanilla/strawberry flavours for most of my powders. They have a lighter less intense taste. But the chocolate does taste like chocolate, I'm just not a huge chocolate fan. Doesn't mix well. Not quite bad as BCAA, but worse than whey powders. I use electric blender and still find it forms a frothy layer of undissolved powder. But I buy for results, not for enjoyment, and I hope this is doing what it is meant to do, as a slow release protein for overnight anabolism. It is much cheaper than Bedtime Extreme, which is why I bought it for the first time last month. I don't need the additional quick release whey isolate/concentrate in Bedtime Extreme, just the slow release Casein. Goes Well With:water
I am loving the chocolate casein, great taste and great price.
Very good price for a 1kg bag of Vanilla flavoured Casein Protein. Beware it taste a bit more "Bitty" than whey protein so takes some getting used to but I tend to add slightly more water and its fine after the first few. Seems to be effective so far, and great practical way to keep the protein consumption ticking overnight! Only rated 4's out of 5 due to being more difficult to consume compared to Whey, although maybe slightly harsh considering review advised of this prior to purchase. Would recommend!!
Brought the vanilla flavour which tastes good, mixes well, I mix it with whey post workout and pre-bed shake. Seems like it does the job, will definitely be buying again Goes Well With:Whey
After trying the impact whey unflavoured, i'd thought i would try this, what a mistake, it is disgusting, does not mix well and leaves a chalky taste, it feels like you've just ate some chalk. I really would like my money back on this item
very good slow release protein , bought the unflavoured but do mix it with my choc protein , also from my protein , very good price , always buy from this site , Goes Well With:whey protein
I found that the vanilla was not too bad in terms of taste, the smell when you open the packet is amazing though and that led me to think that the taste would be much much better. also the texture is extremely powdery and it felt a bit like there was sand in my shake to be honest, even when I shook the shaker for over a minute!!Goes Well With:banana, Nutella, other chocolate spreads and powders (blended into the mix)
Casein defently helps recover quickly and build muscle as I'm already noticing the difference. Doesn't mix well as half of it turns into a foam which I have to use a spoon to scrape out to not waste any. Has got a bit of a chalky texture but tastes reasonably good.Goes Well With:Only tried with water and is reasonably good.
Perfect product. Have this with milk before i go to sleep. Provides protein to my body throughout the night in which case i have my evening meal a little earlier. Highly recommended.
I CANNOT FAULT THIS PRODUCT. Whilst there may be some caseins that have a higher amount of protein per serving, based on the retail price I consider it to be the best in the field. I generally only buy the unflavoured products so whilst it isn't interesting in flavour like some of the products on this site neither is it unpleasant. I prefer to drink it with milk or in a home made smoothie. Thoroughly recommended. Goes Well With:Milk
Do not buy this product, it is vile! I bought this product as it was on offer as i normally use the Calcium Caseniate, which is great tasting and really effective for recovery. Granted I havent used this long enough to be able to judge the effectiveness but to be perfectly frank, i dont think i can stomach getting through 1kg of this stuff. I've got the vanilla flavour, but it tatstes absolutley nothing like vanilla. When i mix it, it turns a wierd yellow colour?! and it tatstes like Calpol or some disgusting cough medecine you used to get as a kid. It does not mix very well and is very lumpy. Ive only managed to use it for 3 nights and ive just placed an order for another bag of the Calcium Caseinate. Once you find a product you like, you should stick to it!
Excellent product and fantastic value. Delivery was quick and effective. Tastes great, mixes well. It's as good as the more expensive brands, definitely recommend.Goes Well With:Fruit, yoghurt and milk
Product becomes thick very quickly. We all know that casein coagulates making it effective in releasing amino acids slowly. However, seeing it action and feeling just how different the texture is from whey, is a little bit of a shock at first. The taste is still good though as ever with myprotein. If you believe in staving off catabolism, then can't argue with getting this product.Goes Well With:blended with milk and peanut butter
The powder is so fine that it's impossible to open or reseal a bag without sending out a massive cloud of it - very messy every time.Goes Well With:Milk
I got into Casein after getting some samples from another company. However found theirs very lumpy and chewy despite being a premium brand many rate highly. Ordered some strawberry Casein from Myprotein.com and it's so much better. Mix it with 300ml of milk and it mixes well without producing anything chewy or lumpy. Froths up much less in milk than water, and makes a great pre bedtime milkshake. Goes Well With:Milk & fine oats
