Calcium Caseinate is made from fresh skimmed milk, and is a spray-dried milk protein that is also low in fat, carbohydrate and sodium.
Calcium Caseinate has 95% protein per serving and this high protein content can contribute to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass.
Calcium Caseinate can be used by anyone to reach daily protein requirements easily. The recommended dosage for this effect is at least 30 grams of Calcium Caseinate in a serving. Due to it being slow digesting it is recommend to take this in the evening.
Upon mixing you may notice that our Calcium Caseinate forms a cloudy but stable, colloidal but mostly homogenised suspension. You may also observe a higher foam level than that frequently seen on other protein powders. This is nothing to worry about and merely represents the typical physical properties of this product. The flavour profile of this product may also differ from that of other protein powders, with Calcium Caseinate having a thicker but grainier presence on the palate with a slightly flat flavour peak.
Add 400ml of water or milk into our shaker (the less liquid you use the thicker the shake will become). Then add 1 heaped MP large scoop (30g), shake and consume. Use just before bedtime for optimal results or 2-3 times daily as required.
1 x level MP Plastic Scoop (large) weighs 24g. (not included)
Calcium Caseinate*, Cocoa Powder (chocolate flavours only), Flavouring (flavoured options only), Emulsifier (Soy Lecithin), Sweetener (Sucralose® [flavoured options only]), Colouring (Beetroot Red [strawberry cream flavour only]). *From Milk.
PER 30g SERVING:
Protein (dry basis): 28.5g
Protein (as-is): 27.0g
Carbohydrates (Lactose): 0.1g
Please note this nutritional information is taken from the unflavoured version. When choosing a flavoured version it will reduce the protein content by approximately 3% for most flavours, however chocolate, due to the added cocoa, will reduce it by approximately 8%.

Great value for money first time trying my protein supplements gotta say its a thumbs up for sure. I passionate about bodybuilding its part of me since my teen and now iv discovered my protein it'll be a partner to my training at the gym and in the kitchen will definitely recommend others. 5*
It is a must have to drink it with your Whey protein and before going to bed. Chocolate flavor tastes best for me.
I use this before bedtime, the vanilla flavour is very subtle, mixes well, a little thick however it's fine with extra water :)
LOve the taste, because it is light - not strong taste (bought Vanilla and Chocolate Smooth). Can't say for effectiveness just yet. I actually prefer Chocolate alone and Vanilla with just a little Chocolate whey.Goes Well With:cold water, haven't tried anything else yet
Decided to try this over my usual casein. Price is cheaper and I love the big 2,5kg packaging - my usual was 750g and you ran out of it quickly. I chose the vanilla taste but it actually is not that much vanilla flavoured. It is very easy vannila flavour, but I add some whey/cocoa/smth else for the flavour and I love it. It hardenes quite well and it gives you that feeling of eating something (not like normal whey shake). I mix it with a spoon or handblender. Great product.
Purchased the unflavoured version, which tastes ok but using the MP flavour drops makes it much better taste wise. This is quite a dense protein as even mixing a 25g scoop to 400ml of water is quite thick as if the protein itself absorbs the water and becomes more of a gel like substance. I usually take this on a night mainly for its slow release absorption, which is ideal for keeping me full during the night also, which before I would get hunger pains and it would break my sleep. Protein is high quality and works very well alongside whey protein.Goes Well With:Flav Drops
I have tried lots of protein shakes now. Whey, whey isolate, egg white, brown rice. This is by far the best one FOR ME! I use whey isolate for after the gym but this one in the morning, bedtime or at work. It makes a very thick shake so you need lots of water. I use a half scoop most of the time with a whole scoop of instant oats. I have tried a variety of shakes because they give me very smelly farts. They are better with this shake. Goes well with instant oats and creatine. I have also mixed it with whey protein.
Way better than the other brands of Calcium Caseinate I've tried. I bought to mix with smoothie at breakfast - it's a lot better mixed 50/50 with whey because if you try to blitz it into your drink on its own it turns out like cement. Mixed with whey it blitzes ok. Unflavored wouldn't taste nice on it's own, but fine mixed with something with some flavor. Goes Well With:50/50 with whey protein
i would recommend this product to anyone. Mixes best with warm water, not so well with colder water. Overall, great product that gave me very good results.
Can't see why anyone would have anything to say against this product? For me, this is a nice delight right before bad time and I look forward to drink it every evening. The taste is very nice - not too sweet as most of protein powders out there. I have vanilla flavour and I love it. The mixability is ok, a bit different texture as whey powders, but still very drinkable... The most imoprtant for me is quality/price and there's just no competition out there!Goes Well With:Milk
One scoop looks like a huge quantity of powder, but it mixes in pretty quickly 1% milk using an electric blender. Makes a nice creamy thick shake and tastes pleasant even with no other flavouring. Goes Well With:1% Milk
I think it's a very good product. The taste, mixability is as good as the other company's protein in Hungary and the price is more better. Delivery was very fast. Thank You guys!
Don't understand why some people has to say that much against this product. I found it very tasty (vanilla), very light flavour, not too sweet and it mixes ok. It has a bit different texture as whey powders, but that's becouse it's not whey! All in all it's a great product! Will buy it again!Goes Well With:milk
First of all I will talk about cons: im buying unflavored one (i hate artificial sweeteners) and unflavored tastes awfull, but Im adding ovaltine or any other instant cacao drink and then its quite good, other thing 2 scoops is too much for my shaker, after shak8n its all right but after finishing half of a bottle it gets too thick and I need to add more milk or water (thats inconvenient if I am at the gym). About pross: doesnt make me gassy, exept if Im takin it on compleyely empty stomach, but even then its not a problem ( somehow it doesnt smell :D ) good gains for lean mass. One in the morning one in the evening and you will get all amino acids that you need.
Really nice product, mixes nicely for a smooth taste. Good to use before bed to help recovery through the night, nice to have one in the morning also to kick start the day. Goes Well With:Water and milk 50:50
I take advantage of the very quick thickening of this product to make a yummy pre-bed chocolate mousse. Just add 250 ml of cold skimmed milk, 2 tablespoons of coca powder (stronger taste than chocolate powder) and 1 tsp of sugar to 1 level MP large scoop of calcium caseinate in a shaker. Quickly shake and pour immediately in a bowl, and you're good to go. This makes a very decent mousse, and the average taste of the product is well covered by the chocolate.Goes Well With:Cocoa powder
Excellent product, will sure buy another once finished with this, great tasteGoes Well With:Blended with ice and skimmed milk
I love this product have tried chocolate and strawberry and they both taste spot in and cures 'treat cravings'. It's thick like angel delight with just milk I go for half water half milk and it's like a nice thick milkshake
I bought Calcium Caseinate as i needed a slow release protein before bed & it was on a great deal in the sale. The ratio of protein (28g/30g serv, unflavoured) is amazing. I've had milk protein & micellar casein before, which mix into a thick, but drinkable shake. This however (in around 300ml water, 40g scoop), does not. I added powder to water, closed shaker, gave it a swirl, then went at it with a hand blender. It immediately turned to thick thick gloop. I was gonna add more water, but looking at it, it resembled angel delight, so i thought this could be more enjoyable if used as a dessert. Was great. Strawberry flavour could be sweeter, but i enjoyed eating it with a spoon & if on a cut/diet, this would be a guiltless pleasure to look forward to.
It tastes great! It's less powdery than milk protein smooth. Sometimes little bumps create while mixing but i don't mind them, they are also yummy.Goes Well With:milk water and sweeteners
Good product does the job, just doesn't mix very well at all, ended up with a load of large thick lumps that made me feel sick. Can't comment on taste as I bought unflavoured but as a protein it's quality just make sure you use a mixer ball.Goes Well With:milk
I was looking for a low carb alternative to whey to give my usual routine a change. I had a look here and noticed the low sugar, high protein and great value. After arriving I instantly mixed it with 400g of unsweetened almond milk, gave it a hell of a good shake and pretty much ended up with Angel Delight. It tasted fantastic and being as thick as it is helps with feeling satisfied for longer as well.Goes Well With:Unsweetened almond milk
after mixing you have 5 seconds to drink before it turns to gloop and the vanilla flavour isnt very nice, but found it worked well before bed. Tasted better with milk than water.Goes Well With:milk/ chocolate milk
i usually mix impact whey with 0% fat fromage frais to make a flavoured gooey thing that i occasionally suspend muesli in. anyway, yesterday i got my supps mixed up and stuck my choccy flavour cc in. after it got mixed up, i was pleasantly surprised to discover that this is the perfect texture, flavour and consistency for cheesecake. slapped a blob of this goo onto an oatcake and, hey presto - high protein - low carb cavalcade of delight. i usually stick my cc shake (with water) in the fridge for 10 mins after shaking in a hand shaker. thick and gloopey, but does the trick.
Don't put it straight into a blender as powder ...it will just clog up. Mix really well with a fork in a mug first until it is a smooth running paste then add to the blender. Flavour is not an issue......flavour it with whatever you like. I blend it with frozen fruit, bananas, Hemp milk (for omega 3) and Two Chicks liquid egg white. I add a dash of high juice blackcurrant squash or equivalent for flavour.
I bought the unflavoured 2.5kg Calcium Caseinate pouch. The taste is quite nice even though I bought the unflavoured variation. Mixing is not a problem with my shaker as long as your adding enough water as casein does get very thick. So far I've noticed some gains and I'd recommend the product.Goes Well With:Milk if you're looking to make a dessert.
i was initially looking forward to my first drink of this protein to find it turned as thick as icing absorbing over 300ml of water! i now have to use over 600ml of water to make sure the shake mixes completely and there is no large gloopey bits inside! after finding the correct mixture ratio the taste of vanilla is minimal but it definitely tastes better than the unflavoured supplements.Goes Well With:cadburys hot chocolate powder
30 minutes before I go to bed I have my calcium Caseinate, for the slow release of protein throughout the night. The chocolate flavour is awesome. I normally have 2 scoops and mix it with water with a little bit of milk for added taste... also it makes it a bit thicker. It's definitely recommend before bed for the slow release during the night. Goes Well With:Instant Oats and almond butter
I really like this product. Yes it takes a while to mix and yes it's as thick a porridge so hard to drink but it tastes great and really works! Will definitely buy again.Goes Well With:Water
Really bad mixability, you literally have 5 seconds after shaking to drink the whole thing or it might just choke you when it clumps up, but nevertheless, I can't do without my casein.
I don't really care about taste and tbh have never really cared that a shake doesn't mix too well until now. It's mixability takes the P I double S, it is so thick that is got stuck in my shaker and adding more water only makes it worse. I wish I could get a different product.
This is a great value product. You are probably better off mixing it with a hand blender but hey that's calcium caseinate for you.
You need some days to get used to the unflavored taste and also to the texture but it is not bad. Also it is really good for the slow release and the good protein percentage. I'm really satisfied with this.
I've recently stepped up my training and need round the clock protein, rather than get up in the middle of the night I was looking for a casein, this one took my eye for the value, I went for the strawberry flavour 2.5kg. I wont lie to you, mixed with water this one is very thick, like paste and lacks a little in taste but with milk this is phenomenal, like an angel delight. It is so so tasty, having never used this product before I am so impressed with it. This slow release protein will keep you going through the night and you won't be starving in the morning, a must for the serious builder. I had a small issue with the delivery which was resolved by the helpful staff too, all round, very happy. Goes Well With:milk, try mixing it and putting in the fridge for before bedtime,
Great tasting protein. Service from 'My protein' excellent
Love this stuff! Blended with quark/Greek yoghurt, cinnamon, egg white, ice & xanthan gum frozen for a half hour it makes amaing ice cream like stuff! Definitely keeps me going through the night and don't wake up absolutely starving in be morning. Goes Well With:Quark, MP flavourings. Anything really.
I purchased this product 2 increase my protein intake at night. This slow acting protein is perfect as a pre bedtime shake. I personally take it 4 hours into my sleep meaning my body is always consuming protein every 3-4 hours. Really helps me increase lean mass.Goes Well With:MP ZMA.
I had this Calcium Caseinate about a week now and use before bed, the taste isn't great but was okay. It turns into a foam like liquid which has a strange texture but I can live with it and with nearly 30g of protein, you cannot complain! Taste 4/5, texture 3/5, protein 5/5, overall 4/5.
For everyone moaning about the mixability and taste. Use one scoop of Calcium Caseinate with 250ml of semi skimmed milk and mix in a blender. It has a great taste and mixes fine.Goes Well With:milk
This protein is very thick when initially mixed, and sometimes gets clumpy. You really have to shake it with both arms, add water and continue to shake because it gets very frothy. You then have to leave it for a good 20 minutes to settle so you can finally drink it. A bit of a pain, but apart from this it is a good product, would probably try a different casein though after this one, I sometimes avoid taking it because it's such a pain to make!Goes Well With:Lot of water, 20 minutes settling time in a fridge
The product tastes really well and is a good option for night time protein.
First of all -I do strongly recommend cassein...Even if the taste is miserable, it would taste much better with some fruit syrup added. Remember that you have to drink it instantly after mix as otherwise it would go thicker and you would need a spoon.,,,(much better is drink it fast and its over).Goes Well With:with any fruit syrup
Good value for what it is. It doesn't always mix perfectly - sometimes with a few clumps, but these can be shaken out. The taste is quite clean, though is much better when used with flavdrops. Usually take a scoop or two before bed.Goes Well With:Impact Whey protein Flavdrops BCAA
I found that this Calcium Caseinate is very thick. It is almost undrinkable if you mix it right before bedtime. But, to make it less thick, try shaking it beforehand like 2 hours before you need to consume it, that way all the thick undrinkable foam will disappear. I put it in the fridge 2 hours before I need to consume it and that way it tastes okay (not as good as impact whey strawberry cream). But that way it is much easier to consume and the effect is noticeable. I don't wake up really hungry in the morning anymore and I'm not hungry before bedtime either, all in all when it is on sale, a good product.Goes Well With:Water and fridge
This Calcium Caseinate shake is very thick with milk and is very filling. If you are looking for a whey protein drink that's thin like water, then this is not for you. If you are looking for a Caseinate for bed time you won't go far wrong with this. However the taste is not great (choco)and the mixing is not great. I've tried a lot of stuff over 16 years and this is not that bad. Not great but not bad.Goes Well With:water
I purchased this to use in my bedtime and also post-workout shakes, as a slightly cheaper alternative to Impact Milk Isolate or the other Casein based powders. Although it's slightly cheaper, I think I may go back to my previous alternatives; this is personal preference as I found Calcium Caseinate had an after taste that I wasn't keen on at all. But if you do not mind the after taste and are on a budget, then this is for you.Goes Well With:Strawberry MP Flavouring
Calcium Caseinate mixes very poorly into an undrinkable, thick foam. The taste is also awful! This is by far the worst protein product I have ever tried.
This Calcium Caseinate is extremely difficult to mix - it's almost a workout in and of itself trying to do so to any reasonable standard. It tastes disgusting, and I can tolerate quite unpalatable protein powders unflavoured.Goes Well With:Chicken feed.
I tried vanilla and strawberry flavours of Calcium Caseinate. Both taste good. Strawberry thickens better than the vanilla, but is slightly harder to mix. In all, it's a good product.Goes Well With:Water
I bought this Calcium Caseinate for a non-carbohydrate calorie drink for evening/night. I was a bit concerned by the comments re the mixability but decided to weigh out the powder rather than rely on the mixing scoop. I found that 60g mixes really easily with water and makes a non lumpy drink but 60g is not a heaped scoop like the whey protein - it's less than a full scoop. Maybe that's why some reviews are negative. It's easy to drink, with no nasty lumps and texture like skimmed milk. The flavour could be a bit better though - I ordered the vanilla but it's a bit difficult to detect the vanilla flavour. It's not unpleasant though. Does it do the job? It's too early to tell. Will I order again - quite probably. Is it worth a try? Yes at this price!
Calcium Caseinate is effective at reducing hunger and providing slow release protein. Seems to have helped with gains. It mixes better if mixed with some whey protein first in the cup dry and then adding water. The taste isn't great but is more tolerable with whey protein.Goes Well With:Whey protein
I used Calcium Caseinate before they instantised it and it was a much better product, however, it is still a very good product.Goes Well With:Almond milk
The mixability of Calcium Caseinate is horrific. It turns to a thick, gooey, lumpy paste that cannot be drunk. I strongly advise that people stay away for this.
Calcium Caseinateis terrible! It doesn't mix well, foams up, and the powder is so fine it makes a mess.
I found this extremely hard to mix, I couldn't get the lumps out in a shaker or a whisk. The lumps were so bad I couldn't drink it without heaving! I ended up mixing it with natural yoghurt and eating it!
Calcium Caseinate is a great product. I'm very happy. The only issue is getting unflavoured as it tastes terrible, but that's only through fault of my own. It works good before bed, as I'm not waking up hungry. It's definitely recommended.
Calcium Caseinate used to be edible but by instantising it, it is undrinkable (and I can drink CEE straight). It tastes so off, I cannot swallow it.
I tried it Calcium Caseinate (which is too sweet for me but I can live with it) and unflavoured (that was bland so I ended up adding cinnamon and mixing with berries). Taste is not great but it is a protein shake not a dessert. It does the job and really helps with muscle building or fat burning whatever your goal is you will get there with this product. Enjoy and train hard!Goes Well With:soya milk, almond milk, berries, bananas
This is my favourite shake! Amazing taste ....high protein. If I could have only that shake 5 times daily as a meal, I'll have it!
I have been using Calcium Caseinate with Impact Whey Isolate and they mix well together. The flavour is good (strawberry smooth) and goes down well unlike others I have tried in the past. I highly recommend it.Goes Well With:Impact Whey Isolate
This Calcium Caseinate tastes great, mixes well in a shaker and is a well priced product. Yes, it is a different consistency (thicker) to whey protein but this is to be expected with such a slow digesting protein. I would strongly recommend this as a evening drink, or in the day if you struggle eating regularly enough to maintain a positive nitrogen balance.Goes Well With:Milk / Water
I have no idea if it actually works, it tastes vile though (strawberry flavour)Goes Well With:A dead rat
There are a lot of negative comments about taste and mix-ability of this Calcium Caseinate, I feel I must disagree. I use 300ml of liquid to 30g of unflavoured powder in a blending/mixing cup - milk if I have spare calories, water if I don't, and personally have no real issues. The milk mix tastes good (5*), the water mix (3*) is more than drinkable after 2/3 nights. It does froth somewhat but it still goes down the neck easily. The missus says it smells like baby formula, and I wouldn't disagree. When all is said and done, it does what it says on the tin (plastic bag?).
This Calcium Caseinate doesnt mix so its lumpy and doesn't taste that great either.
It's amazing how many people mix this Calcium Caseinate incorrectly. This is not whey. I mix a full scoop (about 30g) in to a blending jug with about 350ml of milk, blend it for about 10 seconds and then down it like a man. Yes it does mix thick, but a blender solves that issue. It basically tastes like milk and if a baby can drink milk then I'm sure a gym-going adult can handle it. Once a day is enough, and because it is slow to digest, take it as you walk out the door on your way to the gym. Seriously, if you are the type that cannot be bothered to get a blender out, or cry because it doesn't have sweeteners, you shouldn't be in a gym in the first place. I've researched and tried probably every type of protein going and I always come back to this one. The experts will say it isn't even a good quality protein but the results speak for themselves and I've never got anywhere with any of the so-called quality wheys, and I've tried them all; concentrate, isolate, hydrolysate, and from just about every well known supplier / manufacturer. I can't praise this stuff enough. My advise is, make sure you have a good diet, gym regular, eat well, sleep well, and also take 5g of Creatine Mono and 5g Beta-Alanine a day, and you will start to feel the benefits in about 2 weeks and by week 3 if people aren't commenting on your gains then you must be doing something wrong. When you feel the benefits wearing off, change to Impact Whey Isolate for a month, then go back to Calcium Caseinate and I promise within 2 days you will be reminded of what a great product this is.Goes Well With:Creatine Mono (Creapure), Beta-Alanine.
This Calcium Caseinate does what you buy it for, but tastes very poor and mixes really badly. I had the vanilla version and there isn't any flavour to it. It foams up to a point where you can't really drink it. That said, I've had good results,so if you are not bothered about taste or mixability, it is a bargain.
I bought this Calcium Caseinate to try, and definitely would not buy it again. The other flavours may work better, but the chocolate mix was simply undrinkable. The best way I can describe the overall drink was like drinking cold coco-pops that had been left out all day. Mixing was difficult. I tried water and milk, and both were very poor. Effectiveness seemed to be okay, but I will not be buying again.
I find the chocolate flavour Calcium Caseinate dificult to mix which leaves chunks behind. It's nasty stuff. It's very beneficial though so it's worth it. I'll try an electric blender to make sure it's not me.
I found Calcium Caseinate to be undrinkable and un-mixable - It foams and it's clumpy!
All I can say is not great. I have to take it with orange squash due to poor mixability. Is pretty much not doable without! I found I couldn't drink the protein and water by itself and I would consider myself quite good at killing bad tasting shakes off. Guess trying to skip to inflavoured wasn't my best choices
I can't speak highly enough about myprotein products but this Calcium Caseinate was a massive disappointment upon the first shake to discover 100 % froth. Even after leaving it standing for 20 minutes it was still too frothy to drink comfortably. This needs addressing as protein shakes are for consuming typically right away once made and not having to wait for it to de-froth for an hour. The taste is okay but overshadowed by the froth factor. It's quality late night protein nonetheless.
Calcium Caseinate is not the best tasting protein. I find I don't like it on its own, but mixed with whey it's okay. It's still a bit unpleasant tasting but you can cope with it. It also doesn't mix great and tends to go clumpy. Again I've found if I mix it with whey and make sure the two powders are mixed well with each other before I add the liquid they mix together much better. It can still be a little lumpy but not nearly as bad as without the whey. Effectiveness wise I think it's a good, long lasting supply of protein.
After discovering Myprotein 6 months ago, I have been buying all my supplements from them. As I have started a specific training programme, I needed a slow release protein for bridge meals and before bed but Calcium Caseinate isn't good. I got the unflavoured version as I thought I could add whatever I liked to it. It mixes like wallpaper paste, tastes like wallpaper paste and nothing I add to it disguises how bad it is. I advise getting a flavoured version.
This is the first time I have tried a Calcium Caseinate shake before and I think it's great! I have one just before bed and it keeps me fed through the night, and I am starting to see the benefits already. I will definitely be ordering this product again! I had the strawberry cream flavour, and it's just like a thick milkshake. You just can't go wrong for the price!
I am really quite fed up how much contaminated rubbish is still sold as diet food; there is no excuse for this! Adding any Artificial Sweeteners or unnatural chemicals to consumed product is stupid, especially for diet product because of the well documented metabolic problems these cause, but adding toxic chemicals like Sucralose (covalent Chlorine Pesticide) is negligence, just like for Aspartame; so stop it and use natural sweeteners like Stevia instead.
Calcium Caseinate was fairly poor, it wouldn't mix at all which ever way I tried. It also froths up ridiculously and is near enough undrinkable.
Calcium Caseinate is very poor and doesn't mix. It just makes mass amounts of bubbles however I mix it.
I bought the strawberry flavour of Calcium Caseinate a few months ago. It takes a bit of effort to get the mixing right, it is quite frothy and thick, turns into more like a thick yogurt. The taste isn't awful, but it's not amazing, quite sweet but drinkable. As a hard gainer and previous long distance runner, I have felt a benefit from using this as a night time shake with regards to recovery and bulking up. The only downside is timing the shake so as not to wake up at 3am needing to pee. Last month I bought the vanilla flavour. In a nut shell, it is awful. It doesn't mix without lumps and gives lots of thick lasting bubbles to the top of the shaker. To combat this I added more water, but this means you have to drink more of it. To my taste the flavour isn't anywhere near vanilla, not to be dramatic but it's pretty disgusting. After 4 nights attempting to get over the mixing and flavour, I'm going to leave the bag near full and buy a new strawberry one again.Goes Well With:Powdered Oats
Calcium Caseinate is a very good product.
I bought a strawberry Calcium Caseinate and regret it. It tastes like strawberry cream, not like fresh strawberries. But the taste is so annoying, and saccharine, too much sweet and too artificial flavour. It blends very poor, it's very cakey, and not thick at all as the main point was to use it as a meal replacement. It is not thick enough, still very liquify and cakey. I would not recommend the strawberry one.
Calcium Caseinate is decent tasting protein, I had the vanilla flavour. It's awful mixing with water and marginally better with milk, often created a paste rather than a shake. Eventually ended up putting it with porridge oats for use as the shake wasn't drinkable.
I chose Calcium Caseinate about a year ago as it's a source of slow released protein with virtually no lactose, as I'm intolerant to it. I've been drinking it before bed to try and stop catabolism overnight. I drink it unflavoured and to be honest, the taste isn't great, but it's my choice. The only problem is that it's a very thin powder that goes everywhere and you have to drink it very quickly as it soon turns into a very thick paste, like glue. I found it helpful to mix it with maybe half a scoop of whey protein to delay it turning into cement in your shaker.
I've been taking this Calcium Caseinate for about 4 months now and think it's perfect for before bed. It does go very thick but surely that's a good thing because it will stay on your stomach longer? I don't have any problems with the taste and it keeps me going through the night, really good product!Goes Well With:300ml milk, 10g flax seed powder and 10ml olive oil
Calcium Caseinate is a great value product. I purchased the improvised version.
I use myprotein for all my supplementaion, green tea extract, creatine, whey protein etc so I thought I would try calcium caseinate as everywhere I've looked people are recommending it as its slow releasing etc, so I thought I would try myProtein's version. Usually I can handle unflavoured shakes, the creatine especially, however the calcium caseinate has an extremely rank aftertaste, kind of chemically, and it does not mix well at all. The first time I made a casein shake I didn't put enough water in (only about 250ml), this caused the liquid to turn all gloopy and sticky, so I then made another with more water (about 400ml and is what they recommend) and there was still lumps, still tasted rank and was still undrinkable.
I have taken Myprotein supplements for years now and have never had a problem with their products it's always reasonable tasting to nice and mixes well. However this product is awful. The taste is foul, like others have said. I have a strong stomach and taste is not normally a big factor; I will happily drink unflavoured whey. However this product is unbearable - the after taste is so bad I have to have a glass of squash ready and if you leave the shake for more than 5 minutes it turns into more of a paste. I have tried vanilla, which I still had to add about 20 drops - at first I thought it was the vanilla that tasted so bad, so I opted for unflavoured and even with 20-30 drops it's still foul. I would say to anyone that has taste buds to stay away from this product!Goes Well With:Absolutely nothing!
I have used Optimun Nutritions Casein Protein Powder a number of times, mostly the chocolate variety. I enjoyed the taste of this and could easily put a double serving in water and drink easily before bed and enjoy the shake. MyProtein's Casein powder though tastes very bad, and does not mix well at all. Even just with a single serving and lots of water this is not an enjoyable shake. I have tried experimenting with different ways to consume as I dislike the shake so much and the only palatable use for it I have found is to mix with my oats and use as a meal replacement. The mixture becomes very dry and stodgy but at least edible. MyProtein offers great value which is why I started using their products, however this is one where I think I would rather pay the extra for a more premium and enjoyable product.Goes Well With:Oats
Very effective stuff! I bought the chocolate smooth flavour, it tastes nice but the after taste is horrid and it is very lumpy! With the casein it's best to just bite the bullet and get the stuff down you! Great stuff and great price! Would definitely buy again but maybe a different flavour!
I have used calcium caseinate for over 25 years, I used to buy it from Boots in the small 200g packets but it was costing a fortune. I have competed at national level as a bodybuilder and have always recommended this product as a fantastic slow release protein, which in my opinion just didn't get the coverage it deserved (whey etc being all the rage). Unfortunately for Myprotein it is the end of the road with this product for me. For some bizarre reason it seems like someone has decided to add lecithin as an additional additive! I have no idea why... well I do know why, but it has no place being added to this product and has totally ruined a very good source of protein. Caseinate was never the best for tasting nice or even mixing as you require a substantial amount of fluids to mix it correctly, but taste for me was never of any interest, it`s what it does that counts, and it does it very well. With the additive it's now impossible to mix and quite frankly even I struggle with the taste and texture. I`d liken it to drinking sand... utterly vile. I don't think this was ever the most popular supplement, but I feel My protein has finally put the nail in the coffin for this. Well done guys, a job well done!Goes Well With:Used to go well with whey...not anymore!!
I normally disparage people who leave 1 star reviews as going overboard but after getting this, I can't honestly say it's not good enough to get 2. I bought one kilo of the chocolate flavour. The first thing I noticed was that the mixability was very poor. I used 400ml of milk with 1 scoop of the powder (as the instructions said) and after 2 shakes, it stopped moving around in the flask. When I looked inside, it had turned into a semi-solid goop that was somewhat disgusting. I added another 100ml of milk but it did little to help. Even then, when I rinsed out the flask, there were still solid, unmixed lumps, and plenty of them. I usually put my protein shakes in a glass to drink but with this one, it didn't pour out of the flask. I had to scoop it out with a spoon. This stuff was more like angel delight than a milk shake, drinking it just wasn't an option, it had to be eaten. I really wanted to try and get this all down but after eating one third, I just had to give up. The taste was terrible and I just couldn't stomach it any further. I can't comment on effectiveness for obvious reasons. Now I'm quite annoyed that I've wasted around 25 on this dreadful product that I simply cannot eat. I'm very disappointed, especially after how much I enjoyed the MyProtein Impact Whey. Goes Well With: Nothing that I know of.
I consider myself a person who can stomach anything but this protein I found un-drinkable, very chalky, with no real taste (even when doubled up with about 30 drops of flavour on top of the strawberry flavoured protein) it was still undrinkable. I can't comment on effectiveness because I wasn't able to fully try it. I suggest that if you are going to buy this, get a sample first, you will thank me after.
Tried the choc flavour. Not the best ive tasted but def not the worst. Mixes pretty well, cpl small lumps but no major complainys. Been using only a week so cant comment on results yet. VFM though. Products out of MP never any major problems!!!
"Spot on! Ive tried all flavours now and they are all decent. Strawberry cream especially. Un-flavoured isnt too pleasant with no flavouring but still all good. For those who know of protein "fluff" the strawberry cream, vanilla and unflavoured versions work a treat, creating a thick and creamy angel delight type textured "fluff". The chocolate flavour doesnt work so well but still tastes real good. If you haven't made protein fluff before your seriously missing out. Heres how you make it: What you need: 200g frozen berries (raspberries/strawberries work best) 40g casein (strawberry cream/vanilla/unflavoured) 10g whey (any flavour) 70ml milk (any kind) My protein Flavdrops (toffee and chocolate really nice ) Electric blender with whisk attachment (can use hand whisk just more effort) 1. Defrost frozen berries for 5 to 10secs in microwave 2. Blend berries till all crushed/mashed 3. Place berries ,casein powder, whey and milk in mixing bowl 4. Whisk for 5 to 10 minutes Thats it! It creates such a tasty thick and creamy textured fluff, so so filling. Roughly 15g Carbs, 45g Protein and pretty much fat free (if you use skimmed milk) You dont need whey and flavdrops but they help. Cheers Myprotein. Top product. "
"It mixes really well with milk using the shaker. This is possibly the best thing you can have before bed. Help with recovery times, tastes good (i use unflavoured), mixes good... overall great product and i would highly reccomend this... I'm just buying another bag now, while writing this :)"
"This is the only protein shake I have found to be actually drinkable... I have a thing with not being able to eat/drink foods that taste (to me) horrid, but this was OK. With Milk it's actually really nice. I added Strawberries and blended them... yummy! Actually couldn't taste any protein after the strawberries, only added around 4/5. "
"Great bed time product, very high protein ratio and TASTES GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"I opened it and it smelt of Milk & Eggs! Once I mixed it was still a bit lumpy but next time I will add the powder in once I have added the water. It tasted okay but I put this down to incorrect mixing on my behalf. I woke up this morning without much aching from my muscles, which I normally do. Also I didn't have the empty feeling when I woke up which is good. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for lean gains and muscle mass"
"I'm not going to comment on taste and mix problems.....I'm just going to comment on my personal experience I've some problems with whey, it gives me some stomach pain and then I spend day ""releasing wind"", probably I'm a bit intolerant to whey.... BUT I don't have any problems with Caseine, also this protein gives me a ""full stomach"" sensation."
"First off, let me praise the service of myprotein.com. I ordered my package from Denmark Wednesday, and received it on Friday. A+, especially when considering that I am ordering from abroad. Now regarding this product: Effectivenes: This stuff is amazingly effective for its purpose, to provide you with slow releasing protein during sleep. When you wake up you will not have the feeling of hunger or empty stomach. The muscle aches from workout will be decreased to some extent. Taste: My first impression was that it was awful, and after one sip I felt like throwing up. However through some trial and error I found out that it was not the taste which was bad, but the after-smell, which it left inside your mouth. To avoid it completely, just close your nose while drinking it and it will go down in no time. Mixability: Only blenders will do the work. As for the consistency, it is much thicker than whey isolate, and therefore mix it with plenty of water and a bit of cocoa powder for the best results right before sleep. "
