Great product, but don't use it alone as per the instructions or you will have a dense slightly flavoured vanilla muffin type thing... my advice is to fold the mix (made with skimmed milk or fat free greek yoghurt) into 2 egg whites, 30g of flaxseed and a few blueberries or raspberries or banana.. and even some almond butter if u have it.. cook at 190oC for 15-20 mins. Makes 6 lovely muffins around 110-160kcal (depending on the fruit) with good macros. Yummmm
I've tried various recipes to make these muffins as I read they are hit and miss so below is the way I've found to get tasty muffins quickly. Before you start pop the oven on whilst you assemble the ingredients. I found mine worked well at 225. For the mixture I used 100g of muffin mix, 100ml of either almond or coconut milk (I tend to use this as I don't drink regular milk and I find almond milk lasts longer in my fridge) along with 30ml of melted coconut oil. I use a solid oil from any supermarket but it has to be coconut flavoured, some can be unflavoured but I find coconut flavoured oil adds to the taste of the muffin. So beat all the ingredients together, melting the oil easily in the microwave. I use a muffin/cupcake tin with room to make 6. When you add up all the calories etc each muffin is around 100 cals with a pretty decent 6g protein. Before you add the cake batter I lightly spritz the cake tin with one of these one cals spray so each well is lightly coated (use your finger to wipe around each well so each side and the bottom is coated) then in goes the batter so each well has equal amounts. I don't add any fruit as unless you flour any wet fruit the fruit sinks to the bottom and you get a wet, soggy bottom. I added raspberries and they really added nothing to the muffins and gave me a soggy bottom. Before the tin goes into the oven I turned the heat down to 200 and in they go. I set the timer for 15 mins but keep and eye on them as they could be ready around 13 mins. Mine come out light brown and springy to the touch. Whilst still warm use a teaspoon and run it around the edges and importantly lift the bottom off the muffin from the pan so it doesn't stick. I tried various methods using cupcake paper but the muffin mix just sticks to the paper and as you pull it off you pull off most of the muffin. Consistency wise they are springy and dense and are delicious when they are still warm. They can be a little heavy and dry but the size of them are just right and if you have any of the MP syrups they go lovely with just a little drizzle over them. Maple syrup worked a treat for me. Wrap two in foil and that's a cheeky lunchtime treat. I find the muffins are flavoured with just a hint of coconut and vanilla and help when the sugar monster needs feeding. Goes Well With:Mysyrup
awesome product.. it taste awesome by itself, without any additional flavoring. just add water to the dry mix and pop mixture into the microwave oven. love this product. inexpensive and tasty! :)Goes Well With:water
Baked goods are my weakness and I've spent many years learning to bake quite well. Seeing an easy mix option like this made my day and I expected to have to tweak it a bit. - The unflavored taste is simply bland. Unappealing. - Baking requires specifics, and a "scoop" of mix needs to be specified as loose or lightly pressed. Standard baking approach is lightly pressed so that is what I do. - The recommended 100ml milk and 2 tablespoons of oil results in a very dry, difficult to swallow muffin (even with reduced cook time). I have played around with a whole bag of mix and the following adjustments result in a much tastier (without any bad nutrition!), moist, easy to chew/swallow muffin. The following still results in 4x medium-large muffins. - Increase milk to 110ml if using a muffin pan or 120ml if using stand-alone muffin cups (eg. silicon muffin cups) - Increase oil to 3 tablespoons (this kind of oil is good for you, folks!) - Chocolate version: Add 2 - 3 tablespoons pure cocoa (don't use ones with sugar; Green & Blacks cocoa powder is perfect as it is readily available and organic) - Berry version: Add 3 tablespoons of MyProtein Superfood XS. Gives the muffins a very nice berry/fruity flavor plus the obvious nutritional benefits. This makes the mix an unappealing grey color; the muffins cook to a nice golden brown though. - Veg/Greens version: Add 3 tablespoons of MyProtein Total Nutri-Greens. Gives the muffins a very nice veg cake flavor (think bread/cake made with courgette or squash, without the sugar of course) plus the obvious nutritional benefits. This results in the mix being an unappealing dull green-grey color; the muffins cook to a nice golden brown though. Overall, a great product that I will continue to use--just be sure to go with the above tweaks.Goes Well With:Superfood XS, Total Nutri-Greens
I have tried this muffin mix once and found it made a great batch of nice sweet tasting protein muffins, they cooked well when i mixed with vitafiber instead of coconut oil or butter to keep fat content lower, i also used egg whites and skimmed milk and this worked well to form quite moist easy to eat protein muffins, i find these can be further improved by adding in your own extras e.g. such as dark choc chips or blueberries to further improve both the taste and texture. 5/5 a good mix that works well to make muffins or large tray cakes depending on mould or trays used. if you found any value in this review then please use code: GEOFF - RDT (no space in between dash and letters) and all in capital letters at checkout to get up to 85% off order depending on current offers. excellent tasty healthy snack i like to use the following recipe: follow the directions on packet substituting 100ml of milk and using 100ml of unsweetened soya mix in 1 banana and add 100g of dried fruit Goes Well With:banana and dried fruit
These are FABULOUS. Instead of making 4, I made 6 in a muffin tray. I added some vanilla and cinnamon for some flavour and they are delicious. If you needed a little more sweetness, I added raspberries into the mix after pouring and it made for another great flavour. Will buy again!!Goes Well With:Tea
I've dabbled with some cake baking in the past, but never got around to making muffins. These are pretty simple to do (though the instructions could be a bit more descriptive): add milk, coconut or vegetable oil and muffin mix to a bowl, mix with a whisk until it thickens, then divide mixture into 4-6 paper or silicone cupcake trays on a muffin tray, put in preheated oven for minimum 12 to maximum 15 minutes. I added some dried pear which made the flavour a bit more interesting. These would be quite plain without some added fruit, or something like ginger. Again, it's too early to tell if these will help with my gains.Goes Well With:a cup of tea after a workout
Good product but not great. It's very easy to mix and use but I think it will be key to add a few extras to suit your taste. If you are looking for something sweat I would try the chocolate mix or even the pancakes. Good product but will just give you a base mix to work with.Goes Well With:Blueberries, chocolate
Read the instructions follow it = results! If add by using coconut oil as shown and add banana is great and use cocoa powder or peanut butter flavour. Mix nuts or dates and raisins to keep it moist. :) defibately 5 stars! And it's healthy too! Already recommend it with other colleagues. Loving it!
Brilliant idea. Very convenient and gives me a good health snack high in protein would be good to know the actual value. At the moment best mixed with 3 eggs and peanut butter (I mix 200 grams with 200 ml milk and 4 tbsp of olive oil with 3 eggs and 2 tbsp peanut butter) taste fantastic and is really springy. Will be buying again would be good if offered a flavoured variety.Goes Well With:Egg l. Peanut butter
MyProtein supplements are good for our overall health. Daily intake of protein help in reducing fat from our body. Today we will discuss about benefits of protein in our body.Protein is in the spotlight these days, with articles touting diets high in protein and advertisements for protein powders in the media. Protein is, of course, an important building block in the body, but it is not the only building block. And furthermore, protein is made up of a variety of substances, with the result that not all protein sources are equal in value. Here are some of the facts about proteins Protein is essential to a healthy heart and a healthy body; animal sources of protein including eggs are better for you nutritionally since they contain all of the essential amino acids; as with most nutrients and vitamins, both too much and too little protein have detrimental effects on the body; and, protein cannot be stocked up like fat but must be eaten daily. Protein is the basic nutrient and plays an essential role in carrying cholesterol and preventing heart disease. The human body in its complexity needs dozens of nutritive substances. The one that stands before all others is protein, or proteins, since there is not one but hundreds of kinds of protein. Here’s what protein contributes We are literally made of protein from our bones to our muscles, arteries and veins, skin, hair, and fingernails. Our heart, brain, liver, kidneys, and lungs are built of tissue made of proteins.Proteins help carry the oxygen that reddens our blood. In the form of enzymes, proteins digest our food, synthesize essential substances, and break down waste products for elimination. When fat and carbohydrates are insufficient, proteins produce the energy we need for life.Proteins in combination with a substance called sterols form hormones, which regulate the delicate chemical changes that constantly take place within the body. The chromosomes, which pass on our characteristics to our children, include protein in their structure.Protein is needed to carry fat and cholesterol throughout the body.
This is really easy to use and make muffins with. I use the recommended muffin mix on the back of pack to make the muffins. Only issue is the taste could be improved and the muffins come out tasting really heavy and thick to eat not soft and spongy. However it tastes ok when having it with tea. I normally eat half a muffin at a time as a full one is too much to choke down. Goes Well With:Water
We've used this a few ways, and by the far the best way we've found is adding a bit of milk to create a thick batter and using it to make waffles. The texture is just right.Goes Well With:Light squirty cream!
Got a snall pack of these as was trialing it. Made up the mix with lacto free milk and it tastes lovely....just like brioche ... added choc chips and fruit and have these as breakfast muffins. Yum!! Just bought a big pack now!!!Goes Well With:Tea
Made some today for the first time used almond milk, and blueberries they taste so close to the real thing!Goes Well With:Blueberries and bananas
Purchased this on a whim, as i sometimes fancy something sweet after a meal. Made mixture up as recommended with Almond milk and some raisins, (which sank to the bottom) Taste wise they were nice and hit the spot (i felt like i was being naughty!) Texture was a little dense and dry. Will keep tweaking until i get it right. It hasn't put me off purchasing more.Goes Well With:I suppose most added ingredients.
Best thing I have bought from Myprotein! Bought them for a treat and added lemon zest and juice to one batch and Nutella to another batch for my boyfriend's birthday and they were amazing. Not dry at all and baked perfectly. They rose and came out of the cake tin absolutely fine. I reckon they would make a perfect cake also. Would definitely recommend. Goes Well With:Lemon juice and zest.
This are nice and you can add flavour drops to this to make then taste sweeter. Helped me with my sweet tooth. Plus you dont feel bad as it's all good for you.
I often make a batch of these at the start of the week and take a couple to work with me. I mix in some blueberries and also some toffee and vanilla flav drops. The texture is what you would expect (spongy and dry) and the blueberries always sink to the bottom but for what you're getting, its a very small issue. I imagine they would be pretty hard to get down though without the blueberries in for moisture. Goes Well With:Vanilla and toffee flav drops
