These bars do taste good and seem perfect with for anyone keeping low carb with higher protein intake. Please be aware that they are deceptive in how low carb they really are. The newer flavour bars mention they have ~ 26g of fibre per bar, pretty odd seeing as the carb rating is 0g. This fibre comes in the form of Iso-malto-olygosaccharides (IMOs), normally fibre is a plus, however the body digests the majority of IMO weight as a simple sugar, ~50-60%. So your intake is effectively 13g + of sugars per bar. These bars still have a very good protein profile and are quite tasty, however they are deceptively labelled as other reviews have also noted. I have spent A LOT on these and they did hinder my cutting until the new flavours gave a little more nutitional info which was oddly hidden on the older flavours, don't fall into the same trap.Goes Well With:High Carb Diets
The nutritional information reports calories at 212, with 7.3g Fat, 5.1g Carb (0g fibre), and 19.6g Protein. If you track macros you'll notice that these don't add up. The calculated macro calories adds up to 165, not 212. Which is almost a 30% discrepancy. If you have a particularly low calorie diet, you may want to avoid these bars as you don't really know what you're getting This bar tastes good. Texture-wise, the bar becomes like body armour when it gets cold. They really need to be microwaved if even slightly cold. Otherwise the bar is great.
OKay! So im a massive lover of MP High Pro bars (dont do flapjacks or oat bars) SO these popped up and i was OOOOOO, OkOk so there not really that much Kcal difference to the HIGH pro 198(Z) /234 (HP)...Macros though > Carbs 4.1g (Z) - 22.1 (HP) Pro 19.6g (Z) - 29.7g (HP) Fibre most in HP...(higher carbs) ....so for what it is i actually probably wee out 10g of the extra HP protein but hey...so i guess this will probably go down to carbs & taste. Apple Cinnamon: Is pretty awesome, ive actually just eaten it working from home (an i never consume bars in home, purely when on the road or on jobs) Caramel Peanut: Sorry....but RANK....its very chemical tasting, id probably say this was down to stevia but it definitely tastes nothing like peanut. Very disappointed. Now if you are one of those old fashioned 'sweetener will kill me people' then by all means My Bar ZERO is for you....Stevia is the best for 'natural' properties that's in manufacturing today. If you are like me that has extensively researched sweeteners for Postgraduate study OR just hasnt listened to the old fashioned sweetener debate (or you don't really care as long as its not THE WHITE STUFF).... Then MYPRO HIGHPRO BAR is for you! My fave is Vanilla Honeycomb but i always have moments of wanting Orange or Mint! Im thinking of buying some other flavours, but i have seen reviews of people that LOVE caramel Peanut so it might be each to their own, im disappointed, id swap them if i could! PLEASE PLEASE post your comments on flavours.....we can all be happy customers if we understand what people like and comparisons! ;-) Goes Well With:COFFEE!!!!!
I really should have checked the ingredients before ordering this, but frankly I expected better from MyProtein. I am a long time customer and they do not normally sell misleading products in my experience, but this is a very misleading product. It may only have 4g of Carbs listed under the nutritional values which sounds amazing, but the catch is the fibre used in this bar is Isomalto-oligosaccharide and there is a whopping 24g of it! If you don't know what it is just google it, but long story short it is a type of "fibre" some companies use in their products that isn't really a fibre and is digested so it basically ends up as carbs in your system. Not cool MyProtein. Not Cool.
Look, I'm not going to pretend this is the tastiest bar on the market. Some protein bars are more like chocolate bars with a little protein. But these are so good on stats that I'm surprised they taste as good as they do. I've tried a few flavours now - cookies and cream, chocolate, vanilla almond, caramel peanut and apple and cinnamon. They're all good but a few notes... First of all they ALL are rock solid and could do with 10 seconds in the microwave. Apple and cinnamon or cookies and cream are okay without it and vanilla almond is just about doable but I can barely get through the chocolate one with my teeth alone! In terms of flavour, if you like bars really sweet, go for caramel peanut, it's more like a nougart but really tasty and plenty of nuts. Chocolate isn't much to write home about until you warm it up, but warmed it's like a brownie. Vanilla, cookies and apple are all good too, apple particularly if you like fruit flavours and aren't fussed about it resembling anything similar to a chocolate bar. For those who have never tried a my bar zero before, don't expect a usual protein bar. They're like "naked" potein bars with just the protein part and no chocolate covering. Having said that, the fillings are generous , particularly the apple and nuts although if you go for chocolate or cookies, there are gritty bits which I think are supposed to resemble chocolate chips but don't actually taste of anything, just add texture. Regardless, at about 200kcal per bar, next to no carbs and low fat, you'd struggle to beat them nutritionally, even if they don't taste the best. On this plus side, I've been tempted to over-eat protein bars before but I don't do that with these so even the lack of sugar has a silver lining!Goes Well With:A microwave!
I read a lot of reviews for these bars to help choose a flavour to order. I genuinely love them! They are great for getting protein in for my macros, and i find them quite addictive! I've tried caramel peanut, chocolate (both my favourites) and recently had vanilla and apple cinnamon! Vanilla is slightly sweeter than the rest but still a satisfying fix! They are harder to chew when colder, but I personally love that because they last a long time and so it's not just finished in a few bites and you can eat it slowly. I don't have a problem with the texture at all, i actually really like how chewy they are! Goes Well With:Quick protein snack on drive home from gym, post food sweet fix... everything really!
Right having tried the MyBar Zero, Lemon Cheesecake flavour, here`s my review. The ingredients and macros are there for you to read so no need to harp on about them. What maybe important to you though is obviously the taste and texture. Firstly the texture, as in other reviews let me tell you they are hard...VERY hard !! I did manage to get through my first bar without losing or chipping my teeth but I think I was just lucky !! I read on here that some people had put them into the microwave first so still eager I threw mine in and waited. I didn`t have to wait long as in my eagerness I had left it in the wrapper....the metallic wrapper !!! So after the impromptu fire work display I sat picking the frazzled bits of paper off that had welded onto my bar and tried again. Success !!! after literally a couple of seconds the consistency changed to a very soft nougat texture which was a pleasure to eat, in fact just holding it between your hands to warm it works just as well !! The taste is actually very nice, not very strong or too sweet but a delicate taste that is very enjoyable. It`s quite a big chunk of a bar too so puts them hunger pangs away for a while whilst giving your protein intake a nice boost !! handy for on the go or to put you on if you miss a meal !! Goes Well With:Works well on it`s own !!
Cookies and cream: 207KCAL, Fat 7.5g (1.9g saturates), Carbs 2.6g, Sugars 2.2g, Protein 19.5g, salt 0.43g.Texture is hard/chewy, definitely like nougat bars. Overall it was decent, sweet, contained cookie pieces (very small but still) and white chocolate chocolate chip pieces like in the white chocolate chip cookies which was pleasant. I'm currently fighting a difficult Nutella addiction and these definitely helped (doesn't taste like nutella but I obviously have a sweet tooth). I'm buying this again. Chocolate: 192kcal,Fat 5.6g, saturates 3.1g, Carbs 2.8g, Sugars 2.1g, protein 19.6g, salt 0.39g. As above but chocolatey. Also reminds me of the Atkins bars. Haven't tried putting them in the microwave, I think the're ok without it.Goes Well With:Water
They taste like clay and aren't flavoured like cookies and cream at all. Not worth the money. Goes Well With:The bin
Tastes like a plasticine chew toy. It's what I assumed soylent green would taste like. They're filling, but so what. Buy the protein cookies instead.Goes Well With:Misery and desperation.
These bars have some of the best values of any bar I’ve ever come across. Overall great taste and great as a snack. They’re not a meal replacement, but if you need a protein shake or just a 200kcal boost, these bars are the way forward. Chocolate: Great taste but tough to chew. Has the texture of chewy toffee sweets. On a hot day, this is the only flavour that won’t melt in the sun. Cookies & Cream: Similar in flavour to the chocolate but with a hint more ‘cream’. It’s texture is significantly creamier and a tad sweeter than the chocolate. Apple Cinnamon: Epic! Imagine a cinnamon flavoured marshmallow with dried apple slices mixed into it. Lemon Meringue: Tastes like sugary children’s breakfast cereal — there’s nothing natural flavoured about it. Although refreshing in being lemony, unlike a meringue, it’s not light - it’s actually quite heavy. Caramel Peanut: Be warned — it comes down to "love it" or "hate it”. NOT PEANUT BUTTER! It’s an unnaturally sweetened caramel marshmallow with peanuts in it. Similar in that way to the apple cinnamon bar, but it’ll either be your favourite or you’ll be hoping someone else in the house is alright to eat it. Strawberry Vanilla: If you’ve ever bought strawberry flavoured whey protein powder, you’ve tasted this bar before. Nothing special, but if you’re craving that strawberry-like flavour, this is the bar for you! Remember to drink plenty of water with the consumption of each bar!Goes Well With:Water! Lots and lots of water!
The bars itself aren't too bad. Tried the chocolate flavour which is pretty tough to chew, put it in the microwave. Caramel peanut flavour is easier to get through, more of a nougat flavour. One thing that I have to ask. The bar is 65g but if you add up all the nutritional info, it comes to around 25-30g. Where does the other 35g come from??Goes Well With:Water!
I ordered three different flavours and all three have completely different textures, the caramel peanut was the best, like a soft nougat, not bad at all, then the chocolate which tastes fine but it was rock solid which gives the jaw a beasting! Then there's the almond vanilla, which is what my rating is based on, the second I started chewing I got the weirdest metallic/bitter aftertaste I couldn't even get much of the flavour as it was overpowered,it has to be the worst protein/supplement I have ever experienced, I stopped straight away thinking this was not right at all, I'm too afraid to try another out of that pack. If it wasn't for this I would of given a fairly high rating, although they are very basic compared to other diet/low carb protein bars I have tried from myprotein and other major brands
Initially these didn't smell or look very appetising! And the first bite wasn't good at all. ..... But the second and third bite were lovely! I now love these and always have 2 in my bag. They are very chewy so they take a while to eat which is good because I feel like im eating lots and really take the time to enjoy them. The texture is similar to nougat. The chocolate nibs add lovely flavour and crunch to the bar. Really good price and a very sizeable bar at 65 grams. Very filing, Lovely taste - can't wait to try the other flavours! And the low sugar content is a bonus - most 'healthy protein bars' are loaded with it.
I don't know whether I had a bad batch or not but my god are they chewy. Good if you want to test your teeth or it's jaw day at the gym. They are a bit better when I put them on the radiator as I could actually chew them then. Tast fine but just need to make them a bit more user friendly to actually eat. Goes Well With:Any form of heater.
So these arrived today and well they are a bit hard and the taste isn't the best I found that putting them in the microwave did soften them up so they can be chewed. I think they are okay but I'm sure there are better ones out there Goes Well With:Microwave
These bars are nice. It amazes me how people complain, little fat, little carbs, decent protein, they're not going to taste like a mars bar are they, for what they are and give you they are good. The chocolate ones are really chocolatey, peanut caramel ones are nice, apple cinnamon are also nice as an alternative to chocolate or caramel flavours. The strawberry ones are a bit sweet and probably wouldn't have them again. They are chewy but it gives the jaw a good work out! If you are normal, you'll probably think these are good.
I really don't know why people hate these bars, they taste amazing (well I only buy chocolate and that tastes really good) everyone complains that it's too hard which is try but if you read the in the description it says to put it in a microwave or oven, I personally put them in the microwave got 12 seconds and then I take them out and they taste amazing for the nutritional facts and a lot of people say "ohh the nutritional information doesn't add up to 65" which is true if you read it from the website but when I got them I released that there is about 26 grams of fibre which will add up to 65ish. Anyways I would recommend these bars to anyway they taste amazing and specially if you're on a cutting diet and don't want much carbs or fat and feeling something sweet these are the one for you. I've tried may bars including carb killa which tastes slightly better I'm not gunna lie but doesn't get close when it comes to nutritional facts Goes Well With:Microwave
Literally a zero. It is impossible to eat. It's a great way to break your teeth if you're not careful. And having read up on Isomalto-oligosaccharide (I really should've checked the ingredients), these are not carb-free bars, and this is the stuff that makes the bars taste somewhat sweet. I won't be buying these again, and I am quite let down by MyProtein this time. Goes Well With:Absolutely nothing.
I decided I wanted to loose a few pounds following christmas. Like most people, I enjoyed over indulging on chcolate Oranges and beer. Who doesnt? So at the start of February I started back in the gym with a goal of loosing 1 1/2 stone by April time, I cut out bread and sugar, sweet treats and crips, so far I've lost almost a stone, the issue now is I'm stuck, I cant get my weight down. So begins my quest to find something I can eat at work which will prevent my sweet addictive urges to take hold and find me running to the cafe for a quick fix that is a Mars bar and a can of Coke. Looking through the MyProtein site I found "Bar Zero" I thought for the sake of 20 quid I'd give them a try. The parcel arrive a few days later, I'd ordered the Caramel Peanut variety by the way. So the following day I got up as normal, proceeded with my morning routine and healthy breakfast, usually scrambled eggs or a banana, by 10am my stomach was telling my to eat, again I found myself thinking how good a Mars would be, after all a Mars a day helps you work rest and play. I did not give in to this primative urge instead I continued to work, by 11:30 it was time. Time to open the Bar Zero! now these things look alot like those rice crispy squares, but do not be decieved, the bars are solid, seriously solid, I'm trying to think of a comparison for you the only thing that I can think of a Drumstick lolly thats been in the fridge for a few hours. I recommend a very short blast in the microwave to soften them up. Now onto the taste, as I mentioned I bought the Caramel Peanut, I'd recommend them, they taste fine, once you managed to naw through the bar, the texture is pretty much like a drum stick lolly. After eaten one I felt full enough not to snack again and found I didnt need much to eat again until tea time. So to recap, the taste is ok, its no Mars bar but it's ok The texture is that of a drumstick lolly, seriously when you try one you'll know what i mean, and It stopped me snacking, it does what its meant to do and so gets my recommendation as an alternative ./ preventitive to snacking :)Goes Well With:Jaw day
