What is Inulin?
Inulin is a starchy carbohydrate found in pulses, predominantly lentils and chickpeas.
How can Inulin be used?
Inulin is also used in baking to preserve the moisture in cakes and biscuits, but also as a binding agent. Inulin can also be used as a syrup, by mixing it with water and heating. Finally, this versatile fibre can be used in smoothies to make them thicker and more satiating.

The product is good and can be mixed with most things. I find that there are very few instruction either on or inside the pack. How many times a day is it supposed to be taken (once, twice or doesn't matter) this guidance is important to those who are using the product for the first time.
Arrived promptly and is exactly what I hoped. Goes Well With:Most things from drinks to pancakes
Great service guys. Very impressed with the delivery time, quality of packaging etc. Started using Inulin immediately - very easy to use - I just added it to my bowl of breakfast oats. In case you haven't seen the programme with Dr Chris van Tuleken and Angela Rippon (How to stay young), Inulin reportedly helps break down visceral fat if used consistently over a period of about six months. Well worth a try.Goes Well With:Basic porridge made with oats and milk.
Last time i went on a calorie controlled diet/meal replacement diet i struggled with my bowel movement for days at a time. That was inclusive of having 28g of flaxseed a day. I have now introduced inulin into my diet and my bowel movements are somewhat regular without the constipated/painful feel. This product mixes very well even in water like others have said; i would definitely be buying this agian. thank you myprotein :)Goes Well With:anything liquid
This is very mixable, you don't need a lot of it, in fact even the small scoop suggested once a day can be a sudden change to the body, any rises in fibre can give gas until the body is used to it. Saying that it does actually work as it's meant to, so I would suggest it for anyone that eats a lot or finds it harder to break down protein and carbs, but maybe start with a tiny bit and work your way up.Goes Well With:protein, oats, glutamine, juice
This powder solidifies when added to liquid do its impossible to mix. I've tried blending it dry with protein before adding milk or water and mixing in a nutribullet but it's always left in a sticky clump of my shaker
Having watched the programme on the benefits of inulin, I researched some more and thought i'd give it a try. I have been suffering from bowel pains due to operation scarring inside and permanently bloated stomach for over 12 years. I started taking 1 level scoop of inulin mixed with one heaped dessert spoon of milled flaxseed in water once a day and I bought a bottle of Pepto Bismal and drank a measurement of that in a morning and evening for 2 weeks ( needed to buy another bottle! ) I just had the inulin and flaxseed after that. At first I had a lot of wind and bowel movements but I persevered and within about 2 months my stomach is flat at long last, I am finally pain free and my waist as shrank significantly. I have been taking this for about 6 months now, though only have one scoop of inulin every other day and I feel so much better. I am aware that some trials say they don't know the long term affects but I do not take any medication, am pain free, slim and very active and feel I have finally got quality of life back instead of constant discomfort, plus I am told often that I look well. I would advise anyone to research then do what feels best for you. The recommended dose is one and a half scoops, the scoop is hidden inside the pouch, I found mine when I was halfway through the first pouch! I just chose to take one scoop.
I have just started using this but like others I would welcome more guidelines as to how much to take. Saying a small scoop of 5g with shakes etc must depend on how many shakes you have in a day???
This product is really good for mixing in smoothies and shakes I am a returning customer.Goes Well With:Smoothies and shakes
Great service from My Protein, fast deliveries, I'm on third month of using the Inulin and already feel results- especially around my waist; I. sure will have to use it for long time and every day. Otherwise I am slim, active and healthy eater.Thank you for perfect product. Regards Ms N
Decided to try this having researched its effectiveness on gut health. It has proved very effective in bulking ones stools when taking a low carbohydrate diet to aid weight loss. I decided to try it out with my father who is not dieting but has issues with his unstable gut health and can confirm a very positive result for him as well. I would advise a slow introduction to the product as wind can be an initial problem but this does resolve as your guts get used to it .Goes Well With:Everything
I first came across inulin on the TV programme "How to Stay Young", when Angela Rippon was advised to use inulin to reduce her visceral fat. I subsequently found a research paper --- "A randomized controlled trial: the effect of inulin on weight management and ectopic fat in subjects with prediabetes" --- that concluded that "Inulin may have a two-pronged effect on the risk of diabetes by 1) promoting weight loss 2) reducing intrahepatocellular and intramyocellular lipid in people with prediabetes independent of weight loss." Inulin is very easy to take. I just add it to a mug of tea in the same way that I would add sugar. It has a pleasant, mildly sweet taste. I started at one scoop (3.5g) of inulin per day, and I'm slowly building up to the levels (~30g per day) used in research trials. I haven't had any significant problems with flatulence, but I was already on quite a high fibre diet so my digestive system was probably already in a good state to tolerate --- and, I hope, benefit from --- the addition of inulin to my diet. It's much too early for me to comment on inulin's effectiveness ....... and I may never know with any certainty whether it's having a beneficial effect on me as an individual. You need proper randomised, double-blinded scientific trials to establish the effectiveness of this sort of dietary intervention.
I bought this product after watching the BBC programme about staying young with Angela Rippon. Being slightly overweight i was worried about internal body fat around heart etc and so thought i'd give it a try, on the premis that it might do me good. Did a lot of back ground reading (which is always a good idea!) and it seemed safe with few side effects. So bought this from a reputable online firm (no high street store by me sell it) My Protein, and am so glad i did. Firstly the product is amazing, it taste when mixed with water (1 teaspoon in water); like very mild fruit sugar. More amazing though is that it has helped me lose 8lb in 4 week. For me this is due mainly i think because it just reduces my appitite. It might be doing something clever inside but i just feel more satisfied after eating and am not craving sweet snacks during the day. It was so effective during the first few weeks i also add some to my sons milk shakes, to help him control his weight. Again it just seems to reduce appetite for us. If it is also reducing internal fat then thats a bonus. Glad i used "My Protein", very careful what i give my son, doubly so with medicine (which this isn't) and suppliments, but i am confident that M Protein supply me a high quality product. Their customer service is amazing and I am so grateful i found this company and this product.Goes Well With:Water and Vimto Milk shakes with fruit
I have been using it for about 3 weeks. It is tasteless, I have with porridge in the mornings. I can not say it is the reason I have lost some weight. I am taking it because of the program How To Stay Young.
For years and years my husband has suffered from a painful, bloated stomach. We have tried changing his diet and all sorts of other remedies and at last we have found a product that works. Since taking Inulin all his issues appear to have stopped and that was in the first week only. So glad I found you.
Having watched Angela Rippon on the BBC programme, How to Stay Young, I decided to try inulin because although I am fit for my age and not overweight, I suspect that I am carrying too much visceral fat. It was discovered on the programme that this was Angela's problem, picked up on a MRI scan. I do not propose to go to the expense of an MRI scan, so I can only suppose that the inulin is doing me some good! It is tasteless and mixes well in a morning glass of water. A small scoop was provided and I have one scoop per day, so the 500 gram bag should last quite a long time. No side effects - maybe slightly windy for a couple of days.
I mix this with a little apple juice topped up with water and some green powder. It has no taste and seems to vanish once it has mixed in - just making the drink feel slightly smoother. I feel it has benefited my digestion and so far seems to help with low blood sugar slump. I have not rated its effectiveness as it is too early to say what the long term effects are.Goes Well With:Green powder, Udo's Choice wholesome fast food, Fruit juice and probably anything else you want to use it with.
I want inulin and this is the only source of bulk packets I've found yet in UK. It's a coarse powder (small granules), which dissolve in a glass of water fairly easily. It tastes a little bit sweet and I use it to disguise the rather unpleasant flavour of MSM. Stir the inulin in first for better dissolving. I've been taking it for a few months, to feed my gut bugs and I think it will take longer to assess the effectiveness. No change yet and I'm optimistic it will come.Goes Well With:Water and MSM
Inulin is very good to get enough fibres. I put it together (10 g) with with a pound of lowfat fromage blanc and a proteinshake. It tastes good, is good mixible and its the best overnight combi
have used inulin for some months now after watching a programme on tv about health it is supposed to help you lose weight around internal organs allowing them to function better no evidence to support this but I believe along with a proper diet and exercise which I now follow this product has helping me to reach my target weight and fitness level Goes Well With:smoothies, hot drinks, porridge
