Not a strong stimulant but definatelly makes you more awake. I use it in my coffee (bulletproof) to get a longer term boost to compliment coffe's short term.

I've used this compound in capsules I've taken for several years - and I swear by it as a useful 'nootropic' (brain-power enhancing compound). I make capsules containing: phosphatidyl serine, DMAE, glucoronolactone and DHEA. Several of my friends and I take these and the improvements in our mental acuteness has been marked! Just a little word from a chemist, though. When you say: "It contains two main active ingredients, 2-dimethylaminoethanol, and dimethylethanolamine." I'm afraid you have misunderstood! They are both the *same* chemical - (CH3)2NCH2CH2OH. There are simply several valid ways to call it. :)

this is good stuff, no it doesn't taste 'Nice' but isn't as bad as people say if you expect it to be sharp (like an extremely sharp raw lemon) then you'll be prepared for the taste. get ready for a DMAE craze, well done MyProtein team

I had some experience with DMAE. On the first day I have got headache from the product. I started with a high dose. It should start with a quarter teaspoon or less and gradually increase the quantity. I felt more energy and better concentration after 2 days. It's really good stuff, but it does not replace protein or carb, but work very well with them.
Goes Well With:
It's very sour so goes well with juice.

"Took it 2hrs before workout - nearly fell asleep under the dumbels. right. what do we do? we took it b4 the sleep the night after - it made me fall asleep faster,. (this is not a sleepers kind of stuff,it doesnt make u wanna sleep. its just a bit easier, and id say perfectly enough) AND verry important point - next morning i could still feel it, now this is when it improves your mental focus, its after you get up from bed. lasted up untill 4pm untill i went to gym. then supposedly i just worked it out, and felt myself ordinarry afterwards. GET IT"

"Side effects Reported side effects associated with DMAE use include gastrointestinal disturbances, bad body odor, drowsiness, sedation, retardation, confusion, increased blood pressure, depression, and hypomania. DMAE may cause a decrease in the levels of some choline metabolites. Choline supplementation may help to correct this. DMAE should be avoided under all circumstances by pregnant women. I ve been hit by the gastrointestinal disturbance every time I consume early in the day on an empty stomach And it also makes me very drowsy as I am on my feet all day it’s not a good feeling. I find it’s best taken with or after food and before bed. Defiantly has helped with recovery of the CNS the day after my heavy training sessions."

"Make sure you take this stuff in very small about, 500mg or less. You can't mega dose on this stuff, it gives you the worst headache ever, seriously. At first it may not seem all that bad, but do any exercises which workout the upper body, like bicep curls, and BAM, the pain kicks right in. Plus it lasts for about 3 days, so it doesn't just go."
