5Taste & mixability n/a in tabs. I bought tabs after reading advice about the terrible taste of ALA powder. I buy this primarily as a liver protectant. It is a powerful antioxidant with other benefits to health but the main reason I use it is before and during drinking alcohol. In combination with ALCAR and acetyl L Cysteine I find it significantly reduces the after effects of drinking to excess, which I do more frequently than I should. I buy it regularly from MP. The price is good and service always excellent. In addition to this, it I use it as recommended by Rob Wolfe of the Paleo solution. 2x 500mg tabs + 500-1000mg ALCAR on an empty stomach first thing in the morning is great for clearing the head without getting immediately onto the caffeine rollercoaster. It's ideal for those mornings when I have had a poor night's sleep. I think that in this capacity (mainly due to being in the fasted state I expect) that it tends to drop blood glucose. I haven't tested this but I try to run my sugars fairly low most of the time, and I think I'm well attuned to the feeling of it getting borderline. I'm not diabetic so I won't be going hypo. Goes Well With:ALCAR (on empty stomach) and AL cysteine

5I have read the best reviews for this product. But still do not know how good it is. I think it takes time to be able to judge. In any case, it is the product with the highest level of R-ALA that I found.Goes Well With:Glass of water

5No ratings for taste or mixability as I take it in gelcap form. As for the product, this is a good old standby daily detox (along with Selenium), and shall do for the rest of my life. Say no more!Goes Well With:Selenium.

Jury is out!!
3I have been using this supplement for about 10 days or so. Can't detect any change in my well being related to taking it yet. As it is in tablet form can't give more than a neutral rating. Goes Well With:Glass of water t5o wash down!

5I take this Alpha Lipoic Acid daily in conjunction with Selenium (Se) as a two-shot fix for detoxification. This followed my research on ME/CFS which my daughter sadly came down with. The combination got a general thumbs up from the CFS community. So I find myself protected from the vast majority of (all) toxic insults. The ALA crosses the blood brain barrier and washes all sorts of nasties out, including that nastiest of all, Mercury. The Se, then does the rest.Goes Well With:Selenium 200 µg/day.

5I have the feeling as if this Alpha Lipoic Acid really helps to release the energy from stored fats. I also don't gain fat when I increase my meals.

"People who are complaining about a burning sensation its because your taking too much. This product's side effect is this. It's just something that happens to start off with. I'm on 4 tablets a day now and this allows me to increase my carb intake to a reasonable ammount and still stay in ketosis. The only thing I would warn about is that this product can indicate a false positive on ketostix. If you want to try a lower dose then I would suggest staying away from these tablets, they also taste like garbage if you drink them in water (this is NOT what they are meant for). This is by far the best and cheapest ALA I have found."
