Overview

Oatbran is the outer husk of the oat grain which is particularly rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber. It is also a great source of protein and low GI carbohydrates making it a nutritionally balanced cereal.

Oatbran is, in particular, an excellent source of both soluble and insoluble fiber. About one-half of the fibre in oat bran is soluble fibre, the type that lowers LDL (bad) blood cholesterol. Soluble fibre is a soft fibre that absorbs water as it moves through the digestive tract.

As soon as Oatbran enters the mouth it soaks up saliva and arrives in the stomach where it gorges itself with water. This expansion in size can lead to a greater sensation of being full, whilst also aiding regularity and gastrointestinal health.

With the recommended daily fibre intake at around 24g, the British diet is severely lacking with a national average of around 10-12g per day. This makes Oatbran a fantastic option for increasing your daily fibre intake.
