What really matters with plant protein is whether the raw material used here were grown without fungicides and pesticides. This I do not know, myprotein company should know that, and it would be good if they told us that. Otherwise we are eating pesticides... It is the same story with whey except that whey does not contain pesticides but perhaps more likely residue of antibiotics which cattle might have been feed with! It is a common practice unfortunately! So myprotein could you tell me whether your products use raw materials which have been treated with pesticides or not? Than I would rate your product with 5 stars. Now you only get 3.Goes Well With:water
I'm jealous of anyone who can stomach the taste of this protein. Genuinely jealous. I usually have whey but I'm trying to go a non-dairy route and was hoping the Vegan Blend would be a good start... Boy, was I wrong. As soon as you open the bag, it smells like a combination of manure, dirt and and some other stuff that you likely wouldn't put near your mouth. Texture is gritty, but it's drinkable. The taste is what kills it. Even mixed with milk, oats, vanilla drops, the taste lingers and getting a mouthful down is proper effort. I'm going to try and mix it with a bunch of fruit tomorrow in the hope that I can mask the taste, but it seems highly unlikely. I know some of you will say just get it down you, it's only a 10 second job. But the taste lingers. For the last 5 hours any burp, exhale or bit of air from my throat/gut smells like this earthy excrement. It's not nice to say the least. Unless your life is dependent on gains and you can't have any other protein source, I really wouldn't bother.Goes Well With:The bin.
As a vegan, this was the ideal product for me. Before, I had the whey isolate protein and I found the taste to be quite chemical and not very nice. However, this protein has a much more subtle, natural taste. I got the unflavoured version but added flavour drops (the banana ones) and it tastes pretty good. The texture is a bit odd but I really like it. It's kind of grainy, but reminds me of oat milk. The shakes are quite thick - I tend to use about 300-350ml of almond milk with 1 scoop. I can understand some people not liking the texture, but I think that's personal preference.
I have tried both the chocolate flavour and the unflavoured versions and my preference is for the unflavoured. I found the chocolate far too sweet and artificial-tasting. If you want to blend it into various types of smoothies, then chocolate doesn't always work with the flavours you're including. Also, the protein content is reduced by the inclusion of cocoa, although not by very much. The unflavoured version works very well if you're blending it into other flavours. On it's own it's a little bitter, but not unbearably so. Overall, a reasonably priced vegan protein powder that mixes quite well and provides a good protein boost to your daily intake.Goes Well With:Smoothies, incuding banana, non-dairy milk and any other veg or flavours you want to add.
Although I have no tolerance problems with dairy. I wanted to remove it from my diet and see what difference and effect there was. In order to do this I had to remove Whey from my diet. This was the hardest hurdle to overcome due to the reliability of Whey protein in my shakes and bars etc. I bought the Vegan Blend powder to try as it was a mixture of three different types of protein powders and offered more benefits than just one variety. I buy / use the chocolate flavor and so i am unable to comment on the unflavored version. The powder mixes just like any other whey protein powder but the texture and taste is different as expected. The taste has a more earthy feel to it and I can imagine to some to be quite bitter. The chocolate flavoring does a good job of masking this bitterness. The texture is slightly more 'grainier' than whey powder but I don't mind it and it isn't noticeable if you make your shake with more liquid. In my opinion I have noticed more energy in my training and daily activities but without hard evidence to prove it, I cannot say everyone will experience the same benefits I have felt. As for vegans athletes / gym goers, this is a great substitute for whey and personally I think you are better off with this blend instead of whey. Although this is slightly pricier than impact whey and has a lower protein content per 100g (If my memory serves me right) I have used this for a few months and will continue to do so in the near and far future. I also use this for baking my own dairy free protein bars/ flapjacks.Goes Well With:Oats
Everytime I start my routine after a break and start taking this protein together with other supplements my muscles grow quick and lean. I am a consumer with vegan consumer habits and so as a consumer I am very happy that there is a great source of complete amino acid profile in a vegan friendly product. I can't imagine my workouts without this vegetable protein... I would have to mix it my self. I use the unflavoured option as I'm making my own shakes with MCT, Baobab,Macca, HMB and BCAAs. I'm using my protein flavour drops as well. The whole combination tastes alright and the results are something that makes me proud and happy. GO VEGAN PEOPLE! LIVE GUILT FREE! CHANGE THE WORLD! hahaha LOL!Goes Well With:A tip of an advise here ( as I've been working in health foods and supplements sector I have some UK govt certificates - but most importantly piles of happy returning customers with real results) If you want lean growth go for the following combo in one shake: Vegan Blend+MCT+Macca Root+Baobab+BCAAs+HMB and make sure you take potent amino acids with each meal + get your daily dose of protein even on non workout days. Avoid cheap carbs and you'll be lean muscle statue of a healthy human ;) (knowledge is power - take the power into your own hands - be wise!)
I have struggled to find a protein supplement that was non diary and easily digestible. I suffer from Crohn's disease, diary allergy, can't eat red meat and most vegetables so needed to increase my intake of protein and greens. This ticks every box! Would recommend to any IBD sufferers looking for a good supplement. Goes Well With:Alpro almond milk Peanut butter Coconut ice cream Honey
Tastes like feet when mixed just with water. I don't expect to enjoy my supplements so I am usually not really bothered about taste; but this protein caused me nausea. I find that mixing it with something sweet helps to take it down. Goes Well With:Maple syrup or honey
Tastes and smells like saw dust, doesn't mix well with water and has lumps in. Do not buy.
Delivery great as always .I moved onto vegan blend as whey gave me digestive issues. I can honestly say, it's the worst thing I've ever tasted. It tastes like stale, sweaty socks. It doesn't mix at all, even in a blender, and leaves a bitter sludge at the bottom which is almost undrinkable. I've been using My Protein for nearly a year, had a bout 7/8 different things off them and this is the only one I've he a problem with. The thought of having a pre and post workout shake fills me with dread. However, it is effective. My muscles are more defined and ive added 7 push ups onto my record. Goes Well With:Nothing definitely not water and cocoa powder. Or in a smootie. Or with bananas. It tastes awful and overpowers everything you put it with.
Being lactose intolerant it was difficult to find a protein powder to help me in my goals. Finally found this one and have tried both the unflavoured and chocolate versions. The unflavoured needs stuff added to it otherwise it is very sawdusty in taste but mixes ok, a little thick and grainy but generally easy to swallow. I tend to use this in fruit smoothies as it makes them nice and thick and masks the taste. The chocolate on the other hand mixes really well and has a good flavour, it is quite sweet though. The only issue I've found with this one is that when mixed little, black, hard, plasticy flakes appear which makes the last few gulps very gritty and not enjoyable. They aren't visible in the dried powder, only when its mixed. Goes Well With:Unflavoured - Anything with a strong taste, fruit Chocolate - Oat milk, banana, peanut butter
I started off with the unflavoured version. 1 scoop with approximately 250-300ml was palatable. Sure, it didn't taste amazing, but you can't really expect anything else from isolates. There are a lot of ways to make the unflavoured version taste better. I tried adding a small amount of agave (you really don't need that much to make a difference) which took quite a bit of the edge off. If you're using a blender, 1 banana works really well with it. It also goes perfectly with non-dairy yoghurt style products. My most common mix was a small amount of agave, some chia seeds and some flavoured ground linseed. Worked a treat. I've recently changed to the chocolate version, and it is surprisingly tasty. It almost feels a little bit too sweet after adjusting to the unflavoured version. It mixes well and quickly, but you won't be able to remove a small amount of the gritty taste. As other reviews below me have pointed out, you do get used to it. I have to say, I'm really happy to have found this product. On days where it can be hard to get your protein from whole vegetables, or if you're going to the gym regularly, this product is a life saver! Goes Well With:Agave, Alpro Soya Yoghurt, Banana, Chia Seeds, Milled Linseed, Porridge, Avocado (smoothie).
I have, for some reason, over the last couple of years started to become less tolerant to the everyday protein shakes that are on the market. due to getting a bad stomach after drinking the normal shakes i was missing out on a quick and easy intake of protein after my work outs. i did some research and was informed that it would be worth cutting out some of the typical ingredients found in the protein shakes i had been drinking. this lead me to the vegan blend. Taste is good. Chocolaty enough for me. mixability is very good. no lumps etc. protein content is decent enough with fairly low cals. texture, is a little different but nothing to get upset about. most importantly....NO MORE BAD STOMACH. i am now able to drink a quick shake with no annoying pains that follow. highly recommend if you have the same problems.
Best vegan protein for taste, value, mixability and ingredients.
I was initially sceptical about purchasing this product after seeing some of the reviews posted by others. However, I am glad I did because not only is the product very easy to mix and drink but it is also cheaper than other dairy free alternatives. The texture of the shake when mixed (in a shaker with stainless steel ball) is not grainy like others have suggested at all when shook thoroughly. I found that there is somewhat of a dry/ chalky texture but this is reminiscent of a malty drink so I did not mind. I purchased the smaller bag of the unflavoured blend as chocolate was not in stock at the time. I am very pleased it wasn't as this blend is so versatile and can be altered to make any flavour shake and used in recipes. I mix this with almond milk (haven't tried water), and flavdrops or syrups. I use banana flavdrops which are vegan also, please be aware that strawberry and raspberry flavours are not suitable for vegetarians as the food colouring used is carmine. The 1kg bag had a scoop inside which was handy as I forgot to buy one. Overall I would recommend this product and shall continue to purchase it in the future! Goes Well With:Flavdrops Zero Calorie syrups Fruit Almond Milk In biscuit and cake recipes.
Despite the bad reviews about mixing I find this mixes pretty well, although I always use a blender to mix my shakes with fruit etc. The real downside is the taste. I used to use whey before turning vegan and loved the taste of the chocolate flavour so hoped this would taste the same. The chocolate flavour is barely evident, there's just a mild and unpleasant sweetness which somehow seems to overpower everything I mix it with. I hope the other flavours are better because I really need to find a go-to vegan protein powder. Goes Well With:Yet to find anything.
This vegan protein is pretty similar to the Sunwarrior unflavoured versions (minus the organic and sprouted ingredients, so cheaper!). It's a little gritty and tastes pretty earthy, but I like it because it doesn't taste sickly sweet like artificial sweetener as some of the others do. I blend mine with frozen spinach which masks the taste somewhat. I'd definitely recommend the product.
If your looking for a long term alternative to whey and are basing that longevity on hoping it tastes okay and mixes well.... then I wouldn't buy this protein, the flavour (Chocolate smooth) even with added coco powder is not really as noticeable as it should be because all you can focus on is the rough grainy texture sliding down your throat. I have tried 3x 30-40g shakes with water and milk, preferred it with water as the experience was over quicker, but hey some people may have a taste for that type of thing, and they are incredibly lucky.Goes Well With:A nose pinch
Hi I've never been much of a breakfast person so for a long time now every morning I fix myself up a healthy protein shake using Impact Whey (Strawberry Cream) and Instant oats to kick start my day. After long term use I decided I want to try to add in some extra nutritional values and Carb sources to add that extra healthy factor into my diet, this is when I stumbled across Vegan Blend! When looking at the nutritional values of the product it became apparent that in a sense it was a premade shake of what I had been mixing all along, Full of healthy Carbs and a surprisingly high amount of protein/serving. The key ingredient that really sold the product for me was the 'DigeZyme' which helps with the digestion. I had recently watched a video about how allot of shakes are only around 50% absorbed as we are skipping the chewing process which creates saliva for digestion. After reading some reviews the main comments seemed to be about the taste and the graininess of the powder however this has never really bothered me as no matter what I mix it's not going to be a bacon sandwich... I decided to order a small 1kg bag to try separately but with the aim of incorporating it into my morning shake, a few days later it arrived The first test was to try the blend on it's own and though not bad I personally couldn't see myself consuming just vegan blend as for me however I choose my diet it needs to be enjoyable or I simply wont stick it. Test two was 1 scoop of Impact Whey, 1 scoop of Vegan Blend and half a scoop of Instant oats (Full scoop if a busy day is planned) added to 200ml of water and then topped of with 200ml of milk (Yea I know sounds...). 20-30secs of shaking and WALA! Perfect blend with no lumps. For me this combination fits perfectly to me needs, yes I could taste a slightly earthy taste but the strawberry impact had me covered. It helps me wake up, get energy and keeps me full until lunch time. Overall I'm glad I found the product and would recommend it to anyone who's looking for that high protein healthy morning start and... well simply can't be bother in the morning Hope this helps Best Regards Jason PGoes Well With:Impact Whey Instant Oats
I'm on my 4th batch of vegan blend now. If you're Vegan, which I'm guessing you are, a slightly powdery after texture is a small sacrifice when you consider you're cutting out the exploitation of animals (whey), whilst benefitting your health. Protein shakes are designed to give your muscles the nutrition they need, ASAP, after training. A shake lasts me about 20 secs before its down the hatch and en route to gains. Anyone that's whining that it's not smooth, creamy and dreamy...needs to MAN UP, get it downed and rest up knowing that they're training naturally and ethically! A decent chocolaty shake! Goes Well With:Fermented BCAA powder Arginine Alpha Men multi vit Micronised Creatine
Highly recommended, this product is a great alternative to whey as it doesn't leave you bloated and tastes great so long as you buy the version with cocoa powder
Fast delivery(next day option). The teste of protein itself (unflavored) is ok. Mixability is good. Does the job. Give me good recovery after training( boxing). Good vegan protein.Goes Well With:Banana, nuts, dates, soy milk
I haven't ordered this for several months so I was shocked by the change in taste - before it was palatable, now it's grim. And I've got a pretty strong stomach! Disappointing - why change something that works?
Pretty disgusting taste (like hay). Makes me feel sick if I try to drink it with almond milk or in a green smoothie. Discovered that mixing it with soup masks the taste well, and makes a satisfying thick soup. Especially recommend mixing it with pea soup. Great if you're worried about getting enough protein, and want to get it in a cruelty-free way.Goes Well With:Soup
I love this protein powder. Pure hemp protein has the best effectiveness. But the taste is not great. I've tried many Vegan protein blends and this is the most neutral one which for me means - best tasting as I like to add fruits to the blender for taste. It's super-easy to digest too. Hemp protein is a complex protein with full spectrum of amino acids. Rice and pea protein individually are not complete protein but together are complete. Can't be happier with this product.Goes Well With:fruit
I can't tolerate whey protein taste- and digestion-wise, and I am also trying to eat as much vegan as I can, so this protein was my best option. I bought unflavoured, and the taste of this protein powder in my smoothie was something to get used to, but now I can't drink this smoothie without the protein powder anymore :) The texture of the powder is indeed a bit gritty, but it's tolerable and I even like it now. I found that it gets smoother when you both blend AND shake it. I like blending it with bananas, raw cacao and plain water - it makes a great post-workout smoothie with loads of minerals to nourish your depleted body.
I purchased 1KG to try, as I'd like to move away from dairy. I wasn't sure what to expect, as some of the reviews don't exactly sell the flavor and texture. However, I was pleasantly surprised, it is great. Texture is similar to making a shake with oats in a blender. I can also imagine this working really well in recipes too. I will definitely be back for more.
First time using a vegan blend. I am personally finding it hard to swallow, not due to taste but more so texture. I can't gulp it down as I normally would,I literally need to clear my throat with every mouthful. I'm not sure whether this will take some getting used to over time or whether I just can't handle this type of texture. Hopefully it will get better as i not only bought 1kg of this but also another 2.4kg from another company which gives me the same problem. :D I hope you have more joy.
I came across Vegan Blend when looking for a complete protein blend that is dairy free. I can't tolerate even the slightest amount of lactose so MyProtein's dairy free range is a real blessing for my workout goals. VB is a little gritty but it mixes well. The chocolate flavour is a little over-sweet for my palate but I'm getting used to it ;)
Great protein for vegans! It's a pitty, that flavored version contains sucralose. Is there Amino acid profile available somewhere?
I bought the unflavored variant. No bloating, works well, I recover much faster from workouts and only drink one scoop per day alongside a versatile vegan diet. At first I tried mixing it with water or almond milk, stirring it with a spoon, and while it would mix well, I could still feel the gritty texture and it was very unpleasant. But then I bought a food processor (one of those cheap wand-style processors) and mixed in a pint glass one banana, one scoop of Vegan Blend and water and just mixed it for 10-15 sec. The smoothy you get is really tasty, doesn't feel gritty and goes down really easily! It's also really good value for money!Goes Well With:Water and bananas.
I don't normally write reviews but feel that this product warrants one. I don't use dairy products because of the health implications and also won't use Soy protein because I think it's only suitable for women. Since I started using Essential Amino Acids about 2-3 years ago I've realized that your body doesn't need anywhere near the amount of protein most bodybuilding websites suggest. I know that because I now consume 1000 calories a day less than I used to and have just lost body fat and actually increased my strength and muscularity. While getting enough EEA's is the most important factor if you don't ingest any non essential amino's its possible the body will convert the essential amino's and therefore reduce your muscle building potential. I don't have must of an appetite these days and try to follow as close to a vegan diet as possible so I generally consume 3 full meals per day 2 of which consist of the following: 100g Instant Oats, 40g Vegan Blend (Chocolate), 10g Glutamine, 5g BCAA's, 7g MCT Powder. For dinner I either have 150g Chicken, 125g Wholegrain Rice, 40g Spinach and a tea spoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I also take 10g of a mixture of Wheatgrass and Barleygrass powder before my breakfast shake and consume 5-10g of EEA tablets before and after training and before bed. In the after training I use 40g of fast acting carbohydrates and I also mix 20g BCAA's to drink before, during and after training. This product is far superior to whey and any other animal product. I always use vegan friendly supplements these days because they work more effectively and don't give you the stomach upset of whey/milk which I don't use what so ever!! I have used a mixture of Brown Rice Protein and Pea Protein Isolate in the past and found them effective but the Hemp Protein gives it a better overall amino acid profile. I highly recommend this product to anyone involved in any sport or physical exercise. Goes Well With:Instant Oats, MCT Powder, Branch Chain Amino's, Coconut or Rice Milk, Glutamine
I'm Non dairy so I mix this with Chocolate Oat Milk and it's great. Bit grim if you use water.Goes Well With:Flavoured Oat Milk
As far as vegan proteins go, Vegan blend from MP is by far the best whichever way you choose to look at it. It has superior amino acid profile and around ~85% protein content and for the given cost it wins the competition hands down. I am not a vegan myself, but decided to try this blend after doing some of my own research and discovering the hypoallergenic properties of plant based proteins. As far as the flavor is concerned though, the chocolate version tastes artificial. Also you might need a shaker for this one as it tends to form lumps (guilty of mixing my proteins in a cup). I would recommend going for the unflavored version along with some flavdrops to keep up the variety. All in all one of the best vegan proteins on the market. Highly recommended.Goes Well With:Soy/Almond milk, water and flavdrops.
Best tasting vegan flavoured protein powder. Doesn't mix that well but I usually blend this with bananas and dates in a blender so it doesn't bother me. Sometimes I have this just with water and thats fine too, a bit floury for my taste...
Not a fan of the taste of Stevia but once I got over that - it tastes pretty yummy! Especially enjoyed it with nut milks which I also found aided recovery, but totally acceptable with water. I also combine it with this revolting green powder that I hate taking usually and it nearly completely masks the taste - actually makes it palatable! Texture wise and mixability - it mixes ok but occasionally I find a little clumped in the bottom - adding a little water always loosens it and it's a chance for extra hydration. It is a little grainy but these things always are - when well shaken with chilled nut milk (reccomend almond) it is quite creamy. Muscle definition is popping up and am experiencing very little pain even after intense exercise. Energy levels on off days also massively increased. Hardcore meat eater boyfriend has started using it so if that's not a recommendation, I don't know what is! Have reccomended to a lot of vegan friends and will continue to do so :)Goes Well With:Almond milk, hazelnut milk and even chilled water. Also good for masking icky tasting powders eg greens.
I have tried a few vegan blends and as far as they go this is pretty good. Chocolate smooth is pleasant and isn't AS gritty as other plant based proteins. I add this to my morning breakfast smoothie and so it all goes in the blender so as far as mixing goes I have only had success. Goes Well With:Soy milk, water
Suggested you mix with 150-250ml of water or milk, found it a bit thick still at 250ml. I now mix with 350ml coconut milk and add 7 vanilla flavdrops (I bought unflavoured). It is slightly grainy, but definitely drinkable and actually enjoyable. Will definitely buy again once my pouch has ran out! Goes Well With:Coconut milk Vanilla flavdrops
Tried regular protein and it absolutely killed my stomach so moved onto this. I find the taste of this protein surprisingly good, and its great with oats on a morning. I don't have a shaker yet, so mixability isn't the best, but even then I am quite happy having it just in a glass so it can't be that bad. I can't comment on the effectiveness as I've just started using it and only been weight training for a month. But it's a good way of getting protein into my diet and I anticipate using it moving forward. Goes Well With:Oats
Bought this due to the heaviness of the whey and believed this to be a good alternative especially with the chocolate flavour. But i thought wrong. This is the worst protein I have ever consumed and ive tried alot. The texture feels like sand whisking around your mouth and catching your throat on the way down. Big fat thumbs down for me and would definitely not reccomend or purchase again.
I've recently discovered I'm dairy intolerant so no more Whey... Thought I'd give Vegan blend a try and I wasnt disappointed been using it in smoothies. It's a great way of getting some more protein and no stomach ache, win win..!Goes Well With:Smoothies
My favourite vegan protein by some distance.
Came quicker than I thought! Excellent supplement. Will buy more
perfect protein which is wheat and dairy free. tastes surprisingly good!Goes Well With:coconut milk
I wanted tasteless vegan protein powder to mix in with my usual morning smoothie after a workout (swim, bike or run). It blends really well and doesn't overwhelm the other flavours so it does what I need. Additionally, I really like the packaging, the vecro zip is great for re-sealing each time avoiding any accidental spills which can sometimes happen with the more traditional seal. Overall, it does what I need, what's not to like? Powered by Plants!
A great alternative to all the milk-based products on the market. As taste goes, it's good, although apparently someone hasn't invested any time/money in researching other flavours apart from the chocolate... does get boring after a while. Good for recipes, too!Goes Well With:Water. Why use milk when you've bought a milk alternative?
Made the mistake of getting the unflavoured, it is inedible, do not use. Tried with all sorts but have given up. Will try the flavoured one and pray it is better.Goes Well With:The bin
Taste's good with water, better with coconut milk or similar. Mixes pretty well. Not filled with sugar, as you can see from the label, like some competitors. I just wish myprotein would sell a version of this product that was organic. It'd be worth paying extra for!
Great unflavoured product. Have found it works better in savoury food as although not flavoured does change the taste of my porridge. I'm not a fan of protein shakes of any type so this works well for me to add to foodGoes Well With:Tomato based sauces
I have been using the chocolate flavour version for several years and give it 5 stars. Last time for some reason I was sent the unflavoured version. It is disgusting. I don't know how I will get through 2.5 kg of it.
