What really matters with plant protein is whether the raw material used here were grown without fungicides and pesticides. This I do not know, myprotein company should know that, and it would be good if they told us that. Otherwise we are eating pesticides... It is the same story with whey except that whey does not contain pesticides but perhaps more likely residue of antibiotics which cattle might have been feed with! It is a common practice unfortunately! So myprotein could you tell me whether your products use raw materials which have been treated with pesticides or not? Than I would rate your product with 5 stars. Now you only get 3.Goes Well With:water
As a vegan, this was the ideal product for me. Before, I had the whey isolate protein and I found the taste to be quite chemical and not very nice. However, this protein has a much more subtle, natural taste. I got the unflavoured version but added flavour drops (the banana ones) and it tastes pretty good. The texture is a bit odd but I really like it. It's kind of grainy, but reminds me of oat milk. The shakes are quite thick - I tend to use about 300-350ml of almond milk with 1 scoop. I can understand some people not liking the texture, but I think that's personal preference.
Although I have no tolerance problems with dairy. I wanted to remove it from my diet and see what difference and effect there was. In order to do this I had to remove Whey from my diet. This was the hardest hurdle to overcome due to the reliability of Whey protein in my shakes and bars etc. I bought the Vegan Blend powder to try as it was a mixture of three different types of protein powders and offered more benefits than just one variety. I buy / use the chocolate flavor and so i am unable to comment on the unflavored version. The powder mixes just like any other whey protein powder but the texture and taste is different as expected. The taste has a more earthy feel to it and I can imagine to some to be quite bitter. The chocolate flavoring does a good job of masking this bitterness. The texture is slightly more 'grainier' than whey powder but I don't mind it and it isn't noticeable if you make your shake with more liquid. In my opinion I have noticed more energy in my training and daily activities but without hard evidence to prove it, I cannot say everyone will experience the same benefits I have felt. As for vegans athletes / gym goers, this is a great substitute for whey and personally I think you are better off with this blend instead of whey. Although this is slightly pricier than impact whey and has a lower protein content per 100g (If my memory serves me right) I have used this for a few months and will continue to do so in the near and far future. I also use this for baking my own dairy free protein bars/ flapjacks.Goes Well With:Oats
I have tried both the chocolate flavour and the unflavoured versions and my preference is for the unflavoured. I found the chocolate far too sweet and artificial-tasting. If you want to blend it into various types of smoothies, then chocolate doesn't always work with the flavours you're including. Also, the protein content is reduced by the inclusion of cocoa, although not by very much. The unflavoured version works very well if you're blending it into other flavours. On it's own it's a little bitter, but not unbearably so. Overall, a reasonably priced vegan protein powder that mixes quite well and provides a good protein boost to your daily intake.Goes Well With:Smoothies, incuding banana, non-dairy milk and any other veg or flavours you want to add.
Being lactose intolerant it was difficult to find a protein powder to help me in my goals. Finally found this one and have tried both the unflavoured and chocolate versions. The unflavoured needs stuff added to it otherwise it is very sawdusty in taste but mixes ok, a little thick and grainy but generally easy to swallow. I tend to use this in fruit smoothies as it makes them nice and thick and masks the taste. The chocolate on the other hand mixes really well and has a good flavour, it is quite sweet though. The only issue I've found with this one is that when mixed little, black, hard, plasticy flakes appear which makes the last few gulps very gritty and not enjoyable. They aren't visible in the dried powder, only when its mixed. Goes Well With:Unflavoured - Anything with a strong taste, fruit Chocolate - Oat milk, banana, peanut butter
I started off with the unflavoured version. 1 scoop with approximately 250-300ml was palatable. Sure, it didn't taste amazing, but you can't really expect anything else from isolates. There are a lot of ways to make the unflavoured version taste better. I tried adding a small amount of agave (you really don't need that much to make a difference) which took quite a bit of the edge off. If you're using a blender, 1 banana works really well with it. It also goes perfectly with non-dairy yoghurt style products. My most common mix was a small amount of agave, some chia seeds and some flavoured ground linseed. Worked a treat. I've recently changed to the chocolate version, and it is surprisingly tasty. It almost feels a little bit too sweet after adjusting to the unflavoured version. It mixes well and quickly, but you won't be able to remove a small amount of the gritty taste. As other reviews below me have pointed out, you do get used to it. I have to say, I'm really happy to have found this product. On days where it can be hard to get your protein from whole vegetables, or if you're going to the gym regularly, this product is a life saver! Goes Well With:Agave, Alpro Soya Yoghurt, Banana, Chia Seeds, Milled Linseed, Porridge, Avocado (smoothie).
I'm jealous of anyone who can stomach the taste of this protein. Genuinely jealous. I usually have whey but I'm trying to go a non-dairy route and was hoping the Vegan Blend would be a good start... Boy, was I wrong. As soon as you open the bag, it smells like a combination of manure, dirt and and some other stuff that you likely wouldn't put near your mouth. Texture is gritty, but it's drinkable. The taste is what kills it. Even mixed with milk, oats, vanilla drops, the taste lingers and getting a mouthful down is proper effort. I'm going to try and mix it with a bunch of fruit tomorrow in the hope that I can mask the taste, but it seems highly unlikely. I know some of you will say just get it down you, it's only a 10 second job. But the taste lingers. For the last 5 hours any burp, exhale or bit of air from my throat/gut smells like this earthy excrement. It's not nice to say the least. Unless your life is dependent on gains and you can't have any other protein source, I really wouldn't bother.Goes Well With:The bin.
I have, for some reason, over the last couple of years started to become less tolerant to the everyday protein shakes that are on the market. due to getting a bad stomach after drinking the normal shakes i was missing out on a quick and easy intake of protein after my work outs. i did some research and was informed that it would be worth cutting out some of the typical ingredients found in the protein shakes i had been drinking. this lead me to the vegan blend. Taste is good. Chocolaty enough for me. mixability is very good. no lumps etc. protein content is decent enough with fairly low cals. texture, is a little different but nothing to get upset about. most importantly....NO MORE BAD STOMACH. i am now able to drink a quick shake with no annoying pains that follow. highly recommend if you have the same problems.
Best vegan protein for taste, value, mixability and ingredients.
Tastes and smells like saw dust, doesn't mix well with water and has lumps in. Do not buy.
Without exaggerating, that is THE worst thing i have ever tasted in my entire life. It is honestly like drinking sand. I'd rather be skinny than drink that. Goes Well With:Nothing
Pretty disgusting taste (like hay). Makes me feel sick if I try to drink it with almond milk or in a green smoothie. Discovered that mixing it with soup masks the taste well, and makes a satisfying thick soup. Especially recommend mixing it with pea soup. Great if you're worried about getting enough protein, and want to get it in a cruelty-free way.Goes Well With:Soup
I have struggled to find a protein supplement that was non diary and easily digestible. I suffer from Crohn's disease, diary allergy, can't eat red meat and most vegetables so needed to increase my intake of protein and greens. This ticks every box! Would recommend to any IBD sufferers looking for a good supplement. Goes Well With:Alpro almond milk Peanut butter Coconut ice cream Honey
I love this protein powder. Pure hemp protein has the best effectiveness. But the taste is not great. I've tried many Vegan protein blends and this is the most neutral one which for me means - best tasting as I like to add fruits to the blender for taste. It's super-easy to digest too. Hemp protein is a complex protein with full spectrum of amino acids. Rice and pea protein individually are not complete protein but together are complete. Can't be happier with this product.Goes Well With:fruit
I can't tolerate whey protein taste- and digestion-wise, and I am also trying to eat as much vegan as I can, so this protein was my best option. I bought unflavoured, and the taste of this protein powder in my smoothie was something to get used to, but now I can't drink this smoothie without the protein powder anymore :) The texture of the powder is indeed a bit gritty, but it's tolerable and I even like it now. I found that it gets smoother when you both blend AND shake it. I like blending it with bananas, raw cacao and plain water - it makes a great post-workout smoothie with loads of minerals to nourish your depleted body.
I purchased 1KG to try, as I'd like to move away from dairy. I wasn't sure what to expect, as some of the reviews don't exactly sell the flavor and texture. However, I was pleasantly surprised, it is great. Texture is similar to making a shake with oats in a blender. I can also imagine this working really well in recipes too. I will definitely be back for more.
First time using a vegan blend. I am personally finding it hard to swallow, not due to taste but more so texture. I can't gulp it down as I normally would,I literally need to clear my throat with every mouthful. I'm not sure whether this will take some getting used to over time or whether I just can't handle this type of texture. Hopefully it will get better as i not only bought 1kg of this but also another 2.4kg from another company which gives me the same problem. :D I hope you have more joy.
I came across Vegan Blend when looking for a complete protein blend that is dairy free. I can't tolerate even the slightest amount of lactose so MyProtein's dairy free range is a real blessing for my workout goals. VB is a little gritty but it mixes well. The chocolate flavour is a little over-sweet for my palate but I'm getting used to it ;)
Great protein for vegans! It's a pitty, that flavored version contains sucralose. Is there Amino acid profile available somewhere?
I bought the unflavored variant. No bloating, works well, I recover much faster from workouts and only drink one scoop per day alongside a versatile vegan diet. At first I tried mixing it with water or almond milk, stirring it with a spoon, and while it would mix well, I could still feel the gritty texture and it was very unpleasant. But then I bought a food processor (one of those cheap wand-style processors) and mixed in a pint glass one banana, one scoop of Vegan Blend and water and just mixed it for 10-15 sec. The smoothy you get is really tasty, doesn't feel gritty and goes down really easily! It's also really good value for money!Goes Well With:Water and bananas.
I don't normally write reviews but feel that this product warrants one. I don't use dairy products because of the health implications and also won't use Soy protein because I think it's only suitable for women. Since I started using Essential Amino Acids about 2-3 years ago I've realized that your body doesn't need anywhere near the amount of protein most bodybuilding websites suggest. I know that because I now consume 1000 calories a day less than I used to and have just lost body fat and actually increased my strength and muscularity. While getting enough EEA's is the most important factor if you don't ingest any non essential amino's its possible the body will convert the essential amino's and therefore reduce your muscle building potential. I don't have must of an appetite these days and try to follow as close to a vegan diet as possible so I generally consume 3 full meals per day 2 of which consist of the following: 100g Instant Oats, 40g Vegan Blend (Chocolate), 10g Glutamine, 5g BCAA's, 7g MCT Powder. For dinner I either have 150g Chicken, 125g Wholegrain Rice, 40g Spinach and a tea spoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I also take 10g of a mixture of Wheatgrass and Barleygrass powder before my breakfast shake and consume 5-10g of EEA tablets before and after training and before bed. In the after training I use 40g of fast acting carbohydrates and I also mix 20g BCAA's to drink before, during and after training. This product is far superior to whey and any other animal product. I always use vegan friendly supplements these days because they work more effectively and don't give you the stomach upset of whey/milk which I don't use what so ever!! I have used a mixture of Brown Rice Protein and Pea Protein Isolate in the past and found them effective but the Hemp Protein gives it a better overall amino acid profile. I highly recommend this product to anyone involved in any sport or physical exercise. Goes Well With:Instant Oats, MCT Powder, Branch Chain Amino's, Coconut or Rice Milk, Glutamine
So I haven't been using this product long enough to see major changes but what I can say is that it needs to mix better with water. When drinking, you tend to get a carpet-like feeling on the tongue as I'm not sure it mixes very well? However I've tried mixing tge chocolate flavour vegan blend with chocolate soy milk which works well. But I really feel like it would come in handy if it mixed better with water - such as when you're about to leave the gym with a filled shaker bottle. Goes Well With:Alpro Chocolate soya milk
besides the limited flavours and awful taste of the unflavoured, this is an excellent protein. and works well in a number of smoothies that can mask its flavour. very hard to drink unflavoured by itself. excellent value for money and high protein contentGoes Well With:Banana, vanilla soy milk and peanut butter smoothie
As a vegan who can't cook particularly well I was looking for a protein supplement and ordered this. It's pretty foul on it's own but I barely notice it in a smoothie. Very good mix of proteins.Goes Well With:Banana, homemade oat milk or almond milk and a spoonful of raw cacao. (Add spinach/kale too for extra boost.)
I made the mistake of trying the unflavored version on its own, I advise you don't do this it is awful BUT in a blender with a banana and its okay. I love the vanilla true diet and have been using this for months but have just stopped dairy for other reasons so this blend is perfect for me. Goes Well With:Banana
Free of allergens which is good, downside is it tastes pretty nasty, even with plenty of chocolate flavoring or toffee flavour drops added. Mainly its the powdery, 'planty' texture to it that no amount of flavour can disguise. It's better for me but I really miss the pleasant taste of impact whey protein :-(
As somebody who’s allergic to dairy, this is a great product. Fast and slow digesting proteins means it’s ideal for post workout and before bed. It’s a great – and cheap – alternative to...erm...a certain supplement that sounds like Wun Sarrior, and with the deals My Protein knock out on a regular basis, I always get value for money. No complaints here as ever with My Protein. Goes Well With:CLA, Thermopure, Beta Ecdysterone.
Unfortunately this is the first and the last time I'm buying unflavoured vegan blend from My Protein. It doesn't mix with basically anything and tastes like plaster and leaves sandy aftertaste in your mouth and throat. I'm not very fussy with tastes but I simply can't handle this one...The chocolate smooth isn't that bad but unflavoured even with flav drops is just undrinkable. I can't tell about effectiveness because I can't force myself to drink it often enough to see results.Goes Well With:nothing really...
Gives me the worst stomach aches and bloating I've experienced yet from protein shakes. Very gritty texture with not a lot of flavour. Don't recommend this one at all. I have had a lot of vegan blends and this one is not good. Goes Well With:Wind-eze, toilets.
Really like this vegan blend. Have tasted others and they were nowhere near as nice as this stuff. Slightly over-priced compared to whey, but that's the price you pay for vegan. mixability and taste are good. No known adverse gastro effects. Seems pretty effective, but as with all protein supps, it's kinda hard to tell. Overall 5 stars... Recommended.Goes Well With:Filtered water.
Delivery great as always .I moved onto vegan blend as whey gave me digestive issues. I can honestly say, it's the worst thing I've ever tasted. It tastes like stale, sweaty socks. It doesn't mix at all, even in a blender, and leaves a bitter sludge at the bottom which is almost undrinkable. I've been using My Protein for nearly a year, had a bout 7/8 different things off them and this is the only one I've he a problem with. The thought of having a pre and post workout shake fills me with dread. However, it is effective. My muscles are more defined and ive added 7 push ups onto my record. Goes Well With:Nothing definitely not water and cocoa powder. Or in a smootie. Or with bananas. It tastes awful and overpowers everything you put it with.
I love that there is vegan products on ur website and there is always discounts it awesome very easiy company to shop with . I wish there was other vegan blend flavores like vanilla r Carmel r Goes Well With:Porrage Protein pancakes Smoothies
I actually really like the taste of this protein powder. I buy the chocolate one and have it with almond milk and its really yummy! The texture is odd and was weird at first but I don't notice it now and I enjoy it! Think its really good value for money compared to other products on the market!
It is hard for vegan to get a decent protein source with a strong amino acid profile and this blend does just that. Where it falls down is taste and mixability - however these are secondary requirements to the above so you should be less concerned. I would like to see MyProtein including an iron supplement into this blend too (a la SAN Raw Fusion) as this is a common supplement required by vegan, and, if combined with a slow release carbohydrate to aid amino acid uptake, would make this the best vegan protein supplement on the market.Goes Well With:Almond milk
I'll start by saying that the only reason this ha been given 2 stars rather than 1 star is because I've tried pea protein isolate on it's own so I know that no matter how bad this is, there is something worse out there. I got the chocolate flavour, and was keen to try it out since whey has always given me digestive problems. I'll start with the good news - this stuff didn't have any negative effects on my stomach, it certainly didnt feel like I had downed a protein shake. The next good point is the flavour, the chocolate flavouring they add does a decent job of covering the pea/rice/hemp taste and while it certainly isn't enjoyable, it's decent enough for a protein shake (3*) Now here's the bad news, and this bad news is more than enough to negate any of the positives: It simply isn't soluble. The shaker bottle will do a good job of suspending this stuff in the water and it'll even look like it's mixed properly, but as you take that first sip and feel not only your teeth and mouth get coated in silt, but the back of your throat too, you will realise that this vegan protein experiment was a bad idea. I don't think i can describe how unpleasant this sensation is, but what I will say, is if you're gonna follow the good reviews and give this stuff a try, then PLEASE just buy 1kg.Goes Well With:Sandpaper
hi, nice protein, i ordered the chocolate flavor. tastes good after a week of using it) mixes well and i use 250ml of water ,i guess that from the pea protein, the aftertaste is a bit like you eaten a spoon of sand.
So disappointed after following The Body Coach advice and ordering this product. The flavour is passable however it doesn't even come close to mixing and is like trying to drink water with grainy sand throughout! It is certainly not a pleasurable way to finish a workout with your teeth left coated in a powdery residue! Wish I hadn't taken up the deal and gotten a second bag now! Awful!Goes Well With:Possibly ok if used in cooking (I have used it in oats) where the powder isn't required to just be mixed with water and can be masked by other ingredients?
For the price of this vegan blend, it is an excellent source of 25g of protein per portion. Other vegan protein powders I have tried have been super expensive and lower in protein content. This does the job perfectly!
My first time using Vegan protein shakes and the taste of the unflavoured version of this one is something foul. I would recommend trying the Choco flavour in its stead, despite the lessening of protein absorption from the chocolate. I haven't tried that one but it can only get better!
I bought this protein due to currently breastfeeding my 8 month old daughter who happens to have a dairy intolerance and wanting to gain muscle. I was a bit dubious due to the other reviews but I had no choice seeing as I needed a dairy free one. I was pleasantly surprised, I bought the unflavoured one as I am not too keen on chocolate flavoured things anyway. The taste isn't too bad, the only way to describe it is slightly earthy? But you get used to it and I actually enjoy it now. I have a scoop in my oats for breakfast and then a shake with coconut milk later in the day if the macros need it! I can't comment on any progress ie size wise and muscle gains but feel free to follow me on Instagram where I am sharing my fitness journey as well as being a breastfeeding mummy to a little girl! Goes Well With:Coconut milk, banana smoothie and oats (cold or cooked)
I've read all the 'poor' reviews of this product and they're mostly based on taste - I've gotta admit, i absolutely love it! I have the unflavoured option, and I mix it with a teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder and a half teaspon of maca powder - it's bliss! I don't have a sweet tooth, and I don't mind 'chewing' on the grains in my mouth after a good swig :-)Goes Well With:Almond milk, water, vanilla soya milk and other flavoured soya
I'm lactose intolerant so this fits the bill. Not a great taste but not bad for me anyway. I got flavour drops and these helped loads. Easy to mix and drink.Goes Well With:Porridge, drinks and with flavour drops
Ok, I am a noob but please take a view at my review (yo!). I took Whey protein some years ago when I was trying to cut fat and keeping the mass. The taste was horrible (dymatize chocolate)....very sour finish, although yes, it tasted like chocolate but I didn't care about it. 4 times out of 5, after taking the shake (with water) I had incredible stomach pains. In a way, I think I am partially intolerant to lactose or something. That is why this time I chose a vegan blend. And well, no pains whatsoever. About the taste....I strongly advice to mix the suggested dose with DOUBLE the suggested water dose. Instead of using 250ml of water, use half liter. It will be much easier to drink, less muddy. One very good mix (and very simple) that does't involve mixing or cutting or baking: 500ml water per powder serving + honey. It will be sweet, light and fresh (put ice in it). PROS: - no stomachache - I know what mud tastes like now - incredible mixability. I always had marbles with wheys. this dissolves by only looking at it CONS - I know what mud tastes like now.Goes Well With:Water, soy milk, honey.
I drink this added to coconut water (unsweetened). I find the two mix quite well and the tastes match up well for me. The first time I used it I seemed to get a lot of gass in my stomach immediately after drinking, but only the first time, no problems now.
The flavoured is really good and love to take it but the Unflavoured is rank, I bought it by accident and can't use it as is so vile! go for the chocolate and you can't go wrong!
I mix 30g of this stuff up with my porridge and milled flaxseed as part of a protein rich plant powered breakfast. Tastes great with a spoonful of honey. Mixes well enough. Adds a slight vanilla/nutty taste. Pleasant texture.Goes Well With:Porridge
I normally buy Reflex vegan protein but thought I'd try this as a cheaper option. It does indeed leave a weird sandy film over your teeth/mouth, and is VERY sweet to me (as someone who rarely eats sugar or artificial sweeteners) ... But there is something really moreish about it! Seems like it'd be good in baking and you wouldn't need any extra sweetener.
I was pretty surprised with the vegan blend powder. I bought chocolate, which actually tasted rather nice, I've been mixing it with almond milk rather than water. I'm not 100% sure of the effect it is having on my exercising regime, muscle rebuilding. But it was tasty, easy to digest and I'll probably need to give it a few more weeks realise a difference.Goes Well With:almond milk
I have been drinking whey protein for years. I tried this and was very impressed by the taster and effectiveness for supporting my muscles. It is much thicker then whey protein shakes so requires a bit more water I would recommend this even to gym goers who are not vegan.
I bought this product in order to stay away from milk products and it's just awesome. The texture is thicker than whey but it doesn't bother me... It gives me a more natural taste than the one i get from whey, plus this is very filling. The taste is good too. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for alternatives to soy, beef or whey proteins.Goes Well With:Instants oats, pea protein powder
