Firstly, I am severely lactose intolerant and this means I'm limited to what protein I can have, so I thought that I'd be stuck with really gross options. I've tried so many, and was suffering (in silence) about how disgusting they were. Then I found MyProtein after some searching and took a risk by trying the Smooth Chocolate and Strawberry Cream. O M G! I have double scoops for meal replacement and protein loading for circuits, dancing, PiYo, ChaLean Extreme, P90X and weight management. Two scoops is the important bit for me because most protein doesn't mix well, even with a blender. I load my shaker, then with very low expectancies give it a thoroughly good mixing testing with the Chocolate first...it mixed, and no blender! Next came the taste...it was good! And I mean, really good, definite chocolate tastes, nutty aroma, went down really easily sipping it, no nasty after-taste either! The next day, I had a chocolate one in the blender, fantastic. Really smooth and creamy, take care with the amount of milk (I use Lactofree blue), not enough and it's not nice, but get your amount right, memorise it and keep to it. I eat a main meal at lunchtime, then in the evening I tried out the Strawberry Cream, used a shaker, mixed two scoops and O M G! It's even nicer than the Chocolate Smooth!!! How is this possible? Now, I mix one scoop of Strawberry with one Scoop of Chocolate for ultimate NOMZ!! The protein content is high, not as high as the unflavoured but I don't want to have to add fruit to make it taste nice, it would defeat the object of low carb and high protein. For anyone with a need to have Soya protein, this is the nicest I have ever tasted and I've already ordered my second set! Mix with shakers or blenders, add in fruit, I'd say blueberries, put in in cake mix for protein sponges, Lactofree milk, Soya milk, and Almond milk.
I've used this product for several years now and am highly satisfied. It is easy to digest and a truly excellent source of protein in my diet - which as an 80 year-old vegetarian - is of great importance to me! It is always delivered quickly and in good packaging.
Bought this for it's higher protein content. Found mixing the powder with a small amount of liquid first and letting it settle slighty before adding the rest of the liquid worked well. Combining it all together at once resulted in some horrendous lumpy and ridiculously frothy mess. I add coffee to mine, which helps make it more palatable.
First off, I am not actually milk, lactose or whey intolerant. I take this excellent protein supplement simply because of its amazing value and complete amino acid profile. It is significantly cheaper than the whey product alternative which very important to me as I am on a very restricted budget. It is also easy on the digestion with absolutely no side effects whatsover and is really helping my gains - it's even improving my beard growth! Additionally, I had been using a competitors Soy Protein Isolate as it was slightly cheaper but after I received a discount code from MyProtein, I decided to try their product. In short, it is far superior in both taste and mixability being much smoother in consistency when mixed with no lumps and less frothing. Sure, you've got to get jiggy with the shaker when mixing but hey, if you can do the weights or other exercise then shaking it up shouldn't be a problem. I will now only use the MyProtein product which, even without flavouring, tastes just fine to me but then I ain't a fussy Mummy's boy.Goes Well With:Creatine Monohydrate
Tastes nice, mixes well with soya or coconut milk. With almond it becomes so thick you need a spoon to eat it. Would highly recommend
Struggled with a dairy allergy/intolerance for years. Find the higher grade protein brands and those that claim to be lactose better for my stomach and breathing problems, but always affect me. Thought I'd give this a try, wasn't sure what to expect. Tastes great, mixes well. Only downside I've found is its a little foamy and takes quite a while to settle down. Would like to see the product available in a larger quantity as well.
I decided to buy this as Whey protein results in acne for me and I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised. The Strawberry Cream tastes great, I find the Vanilla has a slightly bitter aftertaste as a shake, but works well mixed in porridge or a pancake batter. The down sides? It doesn't mix as well as the Whey powders, but pop it in a shaker and it's fine and I would say add more liquid as it has a much thicker consistency. As for gains, it's too early to give a review but I will definitely be purchasing this product again.
I have bought about three batches of unflavoured spaced about 4 months in between, and I would say that the mixability went from medium-to poor-to good. I was told by the sales guy that it depends on the source of the protein. I had to use a blender to mix the powder in. Anyway the soya taste does not bother me. For effectiveness, I would say my gains were better than when I used whey -- apparently I am lactose intolerant.
Great as always! I always buy this protein powder, I love it and take it 3 times a day plus! I have it with oats for breakfast, with milk as a mid morning shake, before a workout I take it with powdered oats and milk with coffee as a flavouring and after a workout something similar, it's really good and I highly recommend it!Goes Well With:Milk, porridge, oat powder and as a protein bar mix!
I bought these products the other day as I have trouble with milk. I bought 1kg of Strawberry and 1kg choc smooth. The chocolate is ok, I have it mixed with 400ml water as it was way too thick with the recommended ammount, and I also blend in a banana to help with the taste. It tastes find when blended. The strawberry has been not so great to me. When you mix in a shaker it goes to half foam, half drink... I'm not sure why, and it makes is hard to drink, and the texture and flavour is not great. I think I'll stick to the chocolate when I've run out this time. Its good for the money and for the dietary requirements I have.Goes Well With:Rice milk, Water with banana.
Strawberry cream wasn't in stock so thought I'd try vanilla! URGH. Ordered strawberry back! Otherwise, this product is excellent! I'm lactose intolerant so have to have this alternative, but soya is a deemed a complete protein so it's all good! Please fully stock for strawberry cream! :) thanks Goes Well With:Strawberry cream- frozen berries and milk ( blended)
This stuff DOES NOT MIX. Turns into a rock hard, thick, gloopy mixture even with 600mls of water. Takes extensive mashing with a fork to get it to mix. Not only the SMELL it leaves! Goes Well With:The bin
I stumbled across this accidentally whilst looking through various proteins, i usually go for whey as whenever i have looked before the alternatives seem to be much more expensive, I was shocked to see this was actually cheaper then whey and also vegan which is a plus for me. I read through the some of the reviews and many of them commented on the taste, some in a very dramatic fashion, yes it tastes different to whey, its always going too, but its really not that bad, has almost a nutty flavour too it, although in their defence being vegetarian i have eaten many soy based meat alternatives in the past so maybe i am slightly more used to the taste then people trying soy for the first time. I had the chocolate smooth flavour which mixed quickly and easily in my myprotein shaker and tasted pleasant enough with water. Chuffed to find a tasty affordable vegan protein powder, will definitely be ordering again. Goes Well With:anything you would usually have your whey with
In reference to Mike's review, who said drinking this was like licking a wall - Mike, where do you live that your walls are so tasty, because I would rather lick a wall for 5 minutes straight than down a pint of this. - Mixes worse than any food powder I've ever used. Needed a blender. - Tastes awful. The flavour of this is the third worst thing I've ever tasted, after beetroot cider and raw, solid coconut oil. - Texture is awful. If you took 2 parts water, 1 part liquid soap, and 1 part polyfilla you'd get something which felt like 30g of this mixed with 300ml water.Goes Well With:The bin
My second purchase of protein powder, the first being chocolate nut flavour whey protein, which was brilliant. Thought I would try the vegan soy vanilla one though, but unfortunately it has an awful aftertaste and I struggle to drink it. I mix it with banana, almonds, seeds, blueberries, ice & milk. Have already reordered the choc nut powder, will stick with it!!
Had the soy protein a few times as me wife can't have dairy so she can't have the whey that I have Sometimes nick her soy too and I'm impressed Mixes really well too Goes Well With:Peanut butter Almond milk
Good Protein supplement for vegans like myself to aid with bodybuilding etc... HOWEVER, I ordered strawberry cream... I thought it would be drinkable as I am not usually bothered by the taste, BUT this flavor was undrinkable, it is horrible... I gag every time I sip it, I have only tried mixing it in water in a shaker, but with water it's terrible! Soooo bad - Mixes well (usually with much more water than recommended - Very thick (needs more water for an average 1 scoop and a quarter (30g) Vegan Blend was also gross in chocolate, soy protein with water as strawberry cream is mank. NOT IMPRESSED MYPROTEIN!! DO SOMTHING ABOUT THIS!Goes Well With:Bin
The Vanilla flavour is awful. It tastes like vanilla as much as poo tastes like chocolate
Bought this for the high protein and I was trying to reduce milk/whey intake. Found that it goes quite thick and frothy when mixing with water. Need about 400ml per scoop I think. Funnily enough it mixes excellently with milk! Even adding a little milk to your water before mixing makes all the difference (e.g. 50/200 milk/water) Ive only tried the Strawberry Cream flavour tho, so others may be differentGoes Well With:milk
Normally I'd buy the Whey Isolate but I fancied a change. My initial reaction to the Soy protein is that it's taste is weak and bland but worst of all, it is very thick and gloopy. I mixed it just with water and the consistency is still thick. A lot more water is needed than the Whey Isolate. However, mixing it with milk and a banana made it both sweeter and more like a smoothie - a winner in my book. I've not been training long with this product so it's too early to say if I've noticed any significant gains, but I've noticed a quick recovery after a heavy weights session - minimal soreness and no muscle fatigue. Goes Well With:Milk and bananas.
I have used the Whey Protein and they are great. I decided to try the SOY based powder (strawnerries and cream), simply to see if I could reduce my dairy intake. I mixed to the instructions on the packet, but it looked gloopy. I could not mix it in the shaker. I added more water, shook the shaker again, and it was still too thick. Finally, after about using 3 times the water (about 600ml) it looked less viscous. I tasted it, and it was disgusting. The whole mixture went down my sink hole. I'm sorry MP - there is something wrong with this productGoes Well With:nothing
Purchased the chocolate flavour, as far as protein shakes go the taste was unexpectedly fantastic. Mixes very well with the shaker bottle, 1 scoop THEN add water. Will purchase again.Goes Well With:Angel delight?
Does the job of upping your daily protein and with having dairy is ideal for me. But it tastes like dirt, ive been using it for a month and the after taste doeant get any better.
I am allergic to dairy so cannot consume whey. I have used Soy protein on and off for some time now. I have always used MyProtein and bought a mix of flavours as would put a little in smoothies, pancakes etc rather than just having as a shake. However the last couple of batches resulted in a slightly dodgy tummy - whenever consuming it in any form, be it cooked or as a straight shake I would suffer stomach cramps, bloating and an unsettled stomach. I have now switched to the vegan blend which hopefully will be okay! I am really disappointed as I had several flavours including unflavoured and had no problems.
I usually buy unflavored whey based protein and can drink most without issue. The unflavored Soy based protein tastes awful. The mixture is also very very thick and gloopy. Would not recommend over whey unless you have an intolerance. Thinking about how to flavor this or use in cooking only - pancakes... protein bars etc.
Bought this after discovering that I was sensitive to whey protein and really wasn't sure what to expect. Picked the vanilla flavour after a lot of umming and aaahing and I'm really glad I did! It makes far better protein pancakes than any whey powders that I've used before, they have a much better texture when cooked. I've also used to to make a few other sweet recipes and I'm really pleased with how they've turned out. As some other reviewers mention I do find that it's on the thick side, but mixed up in a shake with plenty of water it was great. The first time I didn't use enough water and it was very similar to angel delight... Certainly won't find me complaining about that! Haven't used it in a smoothie yet as I'm watching the carbs at the moment but I imagine it would be really good blended with banana. Definitely worth trying if you're looking for a non-dairy whey alternative.
Long-time customer. This is the first time I have been disappointed. This stuff does not mix at all. I normally add water a little at a time and create a smooth paste before adding more. In this case, it is futile. The powder just clots up completely. I am sure the nutritional value is all there but still... I expect better.
I found this to be excellent, arrived on saturday. At first I found it hard to mix (because I wasn't shaking my shaker hard enough). Once shaken with two hands and adding water/milk bit by bit I found it to be like the normal Milk protein. The taste isn't excellent but I do this for my body. I've seen a significant change in my body in just over 3days of having this. (Or maybe that's because I am still young with a fast metabolism). But I wear shirts to work everyday and my colleagues are complimenting me on how I look already. Started the gym on Friday, protein arrived Saturday morning went to the gym. Been taking my daily amount ever since. I could write about how excellent this Soy whey powder is forever. DEFINITELY A MUST BUY. Eat correct and you WILL see progress with this just for the fact I think it's thick and has more protein the Diary protein. Arms are near solid (but not big how I want them to be just yet due to just starting the gym) & (Chest is looking healthy in a shirt and even under my big winter puffer jacket) AMAZING.Goes Well With:Water / Almond Milk / Banana Smoothie
I've yet to try the flavoured varieties due to the increased cost, but I generally go through a 2.5kg unflavoured bag in around a fortnight as I use this along with instant oats and flax seed powder as a cheap vegan meal replacement and I feel fine. The downside being it doesn't taste all that good and it occasionally comes with contamination of bits of brown paper or plastic strapping fibres and when it does I feel quite ill.
I was diagnosed as being dairy intolerant when I was 21 so whey protein was ruled out straight away. Furthermore, since that initial diagnosis I switched to a vegan diet; this isolate is an excellent alternative to the ever popular (and indigestible for myself!) whey protein. I have been using the unflavoured powder for the last month or so but gains are noticeable and have been monitored with body mass composition equipment to give concrete evidence of my progression. Does it taste great? No, not really. However, if you're used to consuming unsweetened soya milk, you already know that it is difficult to enjoy. I only use water to mix this isolate and have found that using approximately 300-400ml shaken in a mixer produces a creamy and thick - but very drinkable shake. It mixes reasonably well, though occasionally it will cling to the sides of my shaker if I put the soya protein in first. For this reason, I fill the bottle with water first before adding the powder and add additional water if it is too viscous once shaken. I can not comment for the 1kg pack, but to the 2.5kg amount comes with a large scoop which I found, much like a toy in a cereal box, hidden halfway through the bag. Overall I'd highly recommend this product for anyone who is dairy-intolerant or has an allergy as well as people who have a vegan diet. Goes Well With:Water.
Makes amazing protein bars and pancakes, def recommend!
I've tried a couple of soy protein isolate from different companies, but Myprotein.com have the best! As always with an unflavored batch, it has that initial 'feels like my gag reflex has been triggered'- but with their batch, it's just a one-off! What I like about it, is that it has an ever so slightly grainy texture, but goes down smoothly. It thickens up like casein, if left for a minute or two and doesn't have much excess foamage! I guess the only downside I'd have with this, is that it doesn't mix well if you use a spoon or fork. It needs to be shaken, not stirred (haha)! It's a perfect product for a pre/post workout (I prefer it for a pre workout), for weights or cardio, however intensive it maybe. Just have a lot of energy and focus when it kicks in.. I highly recomend this!Goes Well With:Impact Whey Isolate or Micellar Casein..
I have been using the pea protein and soy protein for a number of years now. As a vegan I was finding it difficult to eat enough protein to build muscle without also eating massive amounts of carbs so I started with the pea and soy powders. I blend it with squash and a banana in the morning and shake it up with some squash after a workout - the banana definitely improves it but hey, I'm not drinking it for the taste. I also tried the other vegan proteins, but for me the price and taste/mix-ability of the pea and soy powders make them my favourites. I guess it has been effective as I'm stronger now than I have ever been - which is good.Goes Well With:Orange and mango squash for taste and a banana to give a smooth texture
Bought this after reading reviews, some people said it was nasty, others said its fine, so I trusted them, what a mistake. It's like licking a wall. It doesn't mix at all in my blender, I put it in, added water and it turned to cement. The people who can handle the taste of this must have chewed on their plastic toys throughout their childhood.
Bought to help me along with some vegan booty building ^^ Vanilla is so delicious! With bananas and water its really thick and creamy as though you've used milk but there's no need to. And it masks the taste of greens which is great. I have the chocolate and unflavored left to try but im so so happy i chose it. Will be purchasing again :) Goes Well With:Water, bananas, greens,
Really like this! Mixes well. One small improvement could be if it was more vanillary but that's just my personal taste. Tastes great mixed with just water which is great as can take to gym for post workout shake! Nice consistency! Really pleased with this product. I will buy again.Goes Well With:Shaker Water Soya milk
Good taste, not as nice as impact whey vanilla though. I mix with coconut milk in the morning but need to use a hand hold blender to mix.Goes Well With:Coconut milk
Soya protein is a life saver!!....I have always been having Whey protein powders and always found it hard to consume as i find it has a funny sickie taste.....my husband and i both had whey and he manages it fine but i always dreaded having to have it as i hated the taste....!!! I then thought id try something different and after reading the ingredients of the soya and found that is is High in protein and low in carbs/fats/sugers etc i thought i would give it a try!!! Amazingly it is Much tastier and DOESNT have the nasty after taste i find with whey. My only criticism is that the flavor isnt very strong...i have only tried the chocolate silk flavor at the moment....and if anyone has tried the other flavors i would be interested to hear your feedback. The soya protein mixes great, and i often add it into my porridge oats for a breakfast treat. I always look up online for ideas to make snacks with my protein and recently i have got recipes for protien jelly and protein merainge cookies and the soya works amazingly with all of these and tastes great!! Totally happy with this soya protein and will never go back to whey....!! Looking forward to new flavors!Goes Well With:Milk Almond milk Water Porrige oats Gelatine Merainge
Got this because cheaper that whey, mix it with milk as I am not lactose intolerant at all, taste is unbelievablely bad, getting through this will be tough going Goes Well With:Those who need to get sick
This stuff i fantastic. Excellent mix, i got chocolate taste great, very low carbs, high protein ratio, great as im still cutting. Goes Well With:Water or milk, usally goes in a stack with my creatine.
Ignore the naysayers the product is fine. It isn't going to blow you away or your tastebuds but if you like me just need a vegan supplement to boost your protein intake then I've had no issues with this is at all. Mixes fine by hand in the shaker and I can usually down it in a few mouthfuls with no complaints. I use unflavoured mixed with nutri greens and inulin and occasionally some a teaspoon of sugar if I remember. 1 tip ... Use Iced water (I put a bottle in the fridge overnight) Goes Well With:Men who don't act like girls ....
I have a dairy intolerance and follow a low carb diet - I stupidly used to put up with the effects of whey protein as I didn't think to look for anything other than low carb whey protein, which WAS not so common. So far I've been really impressed with the soy protein; good taste, mixes as well as any other powder I've used, it's reasonably economical and obviously I don't suffer the effects of the whey protein. Only downside is that the range of flavours is more limited.Goes Well With:Soya milk or water (I'd recommend water purely as it tastes virtually the same and it's therefore more economical)
Perfect for anyone with dietary needs. I'm lactose intolerant and have had no problems with this protein powder. The flavours are okay, drinkable with mixing just water for a quick fix, but found adding flavours to my shake made it more tasty! Good value for money too.
It's the first time I'm ever trying a non-animal based protein and after reading some of the reviews here I was very reluctant to buy even the 1kg pouch of this Soy protein isolate. I don't know if it's batch-dependent or not, but mixability is not that bad, especially if the last protein you used was Carnipro (I will never, ever buy that again, it was almost unusable) and it's definitely a lot better than Micellar Casein too (some batches were like mixing cornstarch with water). You might end up with a very thick shake indeed, but just adding a little more water makes it drinkable and has a smooth consistency with no lumps. I personally find a velvety shake easier to swallow. For me Impact Whey has a mixability score of 4.5, Carnipro 0 (yes, zero) so Soy deserves a 3 at least. What really surprised me though was the taste. I bought the unflavoured variant and having never tried any soy products (milk, tofu etc) I didn't know what to expect. It is a really subtle and pleasant taste that I actually don't know how to describe. It gives me a very wholesome feeling. Better tasting than all other unflavoured and even some flavoured proteins I've tried, so 5 for taste! As for effectiveness I'll have to wait and see in the long term. And in the short term, since there were no unpleasant surprises anywhere in my digestive tract I'm more than happy to keep using this product!Goes Well With:Just a splash of water more than what you'd use for other protein shakes.
As someone who avoids most dairy due to acne/IBS, I thought I'd try the soy protein instead of whey. I bought the chocolate smooth flavour. I think it tastes fine, have drank it mixed with almond milk and also have used it to make chia pudding too. No issues mixing. Goes Well With:Almond Milk, Soy Milk, Chia Seeds
Great product. Really easy to drink and very low calorie wise.Goes Well With:Best with water as it gradually gets thicker and it much thicker than normal whey isolate.
A value for money product! have been using products of other top companies ,but this one seems to be balanced in all specs.Goes Well With:Flavoured whey/casein.
One of the best I have used mix it with almond milk & it's even betterGoes Well With:Almond milk
If you take alot of protein from ur supplements then I do not recommend this as your main source. It's disgusting, 1 scoop needs about 500ml of water to be drinkable. Taste is not nice. It's only saving grace is the fact that it's effective, and has a good amino acid profile. I take about 80-100 protein from shakes per day, this product does not work for me as 100 grams of this wud make me sick and even 2 scoops is very hard to stomach. Looks more like custard than a drink and good luck washing it off if it soaks into your shaker overnight, its stronger than gorilla glue. I've used whey, impacts whey, egg protein, hemp etc. None are as bad as this.Goes Well With:Oat cakes. The bin.
