Firstly, I am severely lactose intolerant and this means I'm limited to what protein I can have, so I thought that I'd be stuck with really gross options. I've tried so many, and was suffering (in silence) about how disgusting they were. Then I found MyProtein after some searching and took a risk by trying the Smooth Chocolate and Strawberry Cream. O M G! I have double scoops for meal replacement and protein loading for circuits, dancing, PiYo, ChaLean Extreme, P90X and weight management. Two scoops is the important bit for me because most protein doesn't mix well, even with a blender. I load my shaker, then with very low expectancies give it a thoroughly good mixing testing with the Chocolate first...it mixed, and no blender! Next came the taste...it was good! And I mean, really good, definite chocolate tastes, nutty aroma, went down really easily sipping it, no nasty after-taste either! The next day, I had a chocolate one in the blender, fantastic. Really smooth and creamy, take care with the amount of milk (I use Lactofree blue), not enough and it's not nice, but get your amount right, memorise it and keep to it. I eat a main meal at lunchtime, then in the evening I tried out the Strawberry Cream, used a shaker, mixed two scoops and O M G! It's even nicer than the Chocolate Smooth!!! How is this possible? Now, I mix one scoop of Strawberry with one Scoop of Chocolate for ultimate NOMZ!! The protein content is high, not as high as the unflavoured but I don't want to have to add fruit to make it taste nice, it would defeat the object of low carb and high protein. For anyone with a need to have Soya protein, this is the nicest I have ever tasted and I've already ordered my second set! Mix with shakers or blenders, add in fruit, I'd say blueberries, put in in cake mix for protein sponges, Lactofree milk, Soya milk, and Almond milk.
I've used this product for several years now and am highly satisfied. It is easy to digest and a truly excellent source of protein in my diet - which as an 80 year-old vegetarian - is of great importance to me! It is always delivered quickly and in good packaging.
Bought this for it's higher protein content. Found mixing the powder with a small amount of liquid first and letting it settle slighty before adding the rest of the liquid worked well. Combining it all together at once resulted in some horrendous lumpy and ridiculously frothy mess. I add coffee to mine, which helps make it more palatable.
Tastes nice, mixes well with soya or coconut milk. With almond it becomes so thick you need a spoon to eat it. Would highly recommend
Struggled with a dairy allergy/intolerance for years. Find the higher grade protein brands and those that claim to be lactose better for my stomach and breathing problems, but always affect me. Thought I'd give this a try, wasn't sure what to expect. Tastes great, mixes well. Only downside I've found is its a little foamy and takes quite a while to settle down. Would like to see the product available in a larger quantity as well.
I decided to buy this as Whey protein results in acne for me and I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised. The Strawberry Cream tastes great, I find the Vanilla has a slightly bitter aftertaste as a shake, but works well mixed in porridge or a pancake batter. The down sides? It doesn't mix as well as the Whey powders, but pop it in a shaker and it's fine and I would say add more liquid as it has a much thicker consistency. As for gains, it's too early to give a review but I will definitely be purchasing this product again.
I have bought about three batches of unflavoured spaced about 4 months in between, and I would say that the mixability went from medium-to poor-to good. I was told by the sales guy that it depends on the source of the protein. I had to use a blender to mix the powder in. Anyway the soya taste does not bother me. For effectiveness, I would say my gains were better than when I used whey -- apparently I am lactose intolerant.
Great as always! I always buy this protein powder, I love it and take it 3 times a day plus! I have it with oats for breakfast, with milk as a mid morning shake, before a workout I take it with powdered oats and milk with coffee as a flavouring and after a workout something similar, it's really good and I highly recommend it!Goes Well With:Milk, porridge, oat powder and as a protein bar mix!
I bought these products the other day as I have trouble with milk. I bought 1kg of Strawberry and 1kg choc smooth. The chocolate is ok, I have it mixed with 400ml water as it was way too thick with the recommended ammount, and I also blend in a banana to help with the taste. It tastes find when blended. The strawberry has been not so great to me. When you mix in a shaker it goes to half foam, half drink... I'm not sure why, and it makes is hard to drink, and the texture and flavour is not great. I think I'll stick to the chocolate when I've run out this time. Its good for the money and for the dietary requirements I have.Goes Well With:Rice milk, Water with banana.
Strawberry cream wasn't in stock so thought I'd try vanilla! URGH. Ordered strawberry back! Otherwise, this product is excellent! I'm lactose intolerant so have to have this alternative, but soya is a deemed a complete protein so it's all good! Please fully stock for strawberry cream! :) thanks Goes Well With:Strawberry cream- frozen berries and milk ( blended)
Normally I'd buy the Whey Isolate but I fancied a change. My initial reaction to the Soy protein is that it's taste is weak and bland but worst of all, it is very thick and gloopy. I mixed it just with water and the consistency is still thick. A lot more water is needed than the Whey Isolate. However, mixing it with milk and a banana made it both sweeter and more like a smoothie - a winner in my book. I've not been training long with this product so it's too early to say if I've noticed any significant gains, but I've noticed a quick recovery after a heavy weights session - minimal soreness and no muscle fatigue. Goes Well With:Milk and bananas.
I tried this because I thought maybe I was having too much dairy which might be causing the farts of death. After one a couple days on this with no dairy I can safely and thankfully say it's not a dairy issue. I usually have 2 scoops of impact whey so thought I could double up this. No, not at all. 2 scoops of this with milk and oats turns this into a thick stoog. My 1200w blender can't even turn when it thickens. After that I thought I would go down to one scoop in a shaker. Still turns into a thick stoog. Don't get me started on the taste(unflavoured). It is disgusting. Sorry, my protein. Every other product I have recovered from here has been 5 starts. This is not one of those. Goes Well With:Nothing.
First off, I am not actually milk, lactose or whey intolerant. I take this excellent protein supplement simply because of its amazing value and complete amino acid profile. It is significantly cheaper than the whey product alternative which very important to me as I am on a very restricted budget. It is also easy on the digestion with absolutely no side effects whatsover and is really helping my gains - it's even improving my beard growth! Additionally, I had been using a competitors Soy Protein Isolate as it was slightly cheaper but after I received a discount code from MyProtein, I decided to try their product. In short, it is far superior in both taste and mixability being much smoother in consistency when mixed with no lumps and less frothing. Sure, you've got to get jiggy with the shaker when mixing but hey, if you can do the weights or other exercise then shaking it up shouldn't be a problem. I will now only use the MyProtein product which, even without flavouring, tastes just fine to me but then I ain't a fussy Mummy's boy.Goes Well With:Creatine Monohydrate
I have used the Whey Protein and they are great. I decided to try the SOY based powder (strawnerries and cream), simply to see if I could reduce my dairy intake. I mixed to the instructions on the packet, but it looked gloopy. I could not mix it in the shaker. I added more water, shook the shaker again, and it was still too thick. Finally, after about using 3 times the water (about 600ml) it looked less viscous. I tasted it, and it was disgusting. The whole mixture went down my sink hole. I'm sorry MP - there is something wrong with this productGoes Well With:nothing
Purchased the chocolate flavour, as far as protein shakes go the taste was unexpectedly fantastic. Mixes very well with the shaker bottle, 1 scoop THEN add water. Will purchase again.Goes Well With:Angel delight?
Does the job of upping your daily protein and with having dairy is ideal for me. But it tastes like dirt, ive been using it for a month and the after taste doeant get any better.
I am allergic to dairy so cannot consume whey. I have used Soy protein on and off for some time now. I have always used MyProtein and bought a mix of flavours as would put a little in smoothies, pancakes etc rather than just having as a shake. However the last couple of batches resulted in a slightly dodgy tummy - whenever consuming it in any form, be it cooked or as a straight shake I would suffer stomach cramps, bloating and an unsettled stomach. I have now switched to the vegan blend which hopefully will be okay! I am really disappointed as I had several flavours including unflavoured and had no problems.
I usually buy unflavored whey based protein and can drink most without issue. The unflavored Soy based protein tastes awful. The mixture is also very very thick and gloopy. Would not recommend over whey unless you have an intolerance. Thinking about how to flavor this or use in cooking only - pancakes... protein bars etc.
Bought this after discovering that I was sensitive to whey protein and really wasn't sure what to expect. Picked the vanilla flavour after a lot of umming and aaahing and I'm really glad I did! It makes far better protein pancakes than any whey powders that I've used before, they have a much better texture when cooked. I've also used to to make a few other sweet recipes and I'm really pleased with how they've turned out. As some other reviewers mention I do find that it's on the thick side, but mixed up in a shake with plenty of water it was great. The first time I didn't use enough water and it was very similar to angel delight... Certainly won't find me complaining about that! Haven't used it in a smoothie yet as I'm watching the carbs at the moment but I imagine it would be really good blended with banana. Definitely worth trying if you're looking for a non-dairy whey alternative.
Long-time customer. This is the first time I have been disappointed. This stuff does not mix at all. I normally add water a little at a time and create a smooth paste before adding more. In this case, it is futile. The powder just clots up completely. I am sure the nutritional value is all there but still... I expect better.
I found this to be excellent, arrived on saturday. At first I found it hard to mix (because I wasn't shaking my shaker hard enough). Once shaken with two hands and adding water/milk bit by bit I found it to be like the normal Milk protein. The taste isn't excellent but I do this for my body. I've seen a significant change in my body in just over 3days of having this. (Or maybe that's because I am still young with a fast metabolism). But I wear shirts to work everyday and my colleagues are complimenting me on how I look already. Started the gym on Friday, protein arrived Saturday morning went to the gym. Been taking my daily amount ever since. I could write about how excellent this Soy whey powder is forever. DEFINITELY A MUST BUY. Eat correct and you WILL see progress with this just for the fact I think it's thick and has more protein the Diary protein. Arms are near solid (but not big how I want them to be just yet due to just starting the gym) & (Chest is looking healthy in a shirt and even under my big winter puffer jacket) AMAZING.Goes Well With:Water / Almond Milk / Banana Smoothie
I've yet to try the flavoured varieties due to the increased cost, but I generally go through a 2.5kg unflavoured bag in around a fortnight as I use this along with instant oats and flax seed powder as a cheap vegan meal replacement and I feel fine. The downside being it doesn't taste all that good and it occasionally comes with contamination of bits of brown paper or plastic strapping fibres and when it does I feel quite ill.
I was diagnosed as being dairy intolerant when I was 21 so whey protein was ruled out straight away. Furthermore, since that initial diagnosis I switched to a vegan diet; this isolate is an excellent alternative to the ever popular (and indigestible for myself!) whey protein. I have been using the unflavoured powder for the last month or so but gains are noticeable and have been monitored with body mass composition equipment to give concrete evidence of my progression. Does it taste great? No, not really. However, if you're used to consuming unsweetened soya milk, you already know that it is difficult to enjoy. I only use water to mix this isolate and have found that using approximately 300-400ml shaken in a mixer produces a creamy and thick - but very drinkable shake. It mixes reasonably well, though occasionally it will cling to the sides of my shaker if I put the soya protein in first. For this reason, I fill the bottle with water first before adding the powder and add additional water if it is too viscous once shaken. I can not comment for the 1kg pack, but to the 2.5kg amount comes with a large scoop which I found, much like a toy in a cereal box, hidden halfway through the bag. Overall I'd highly recommend this product for anyone who is dairy-intolerant or has an allergy as well as people who have a vegan diet. Goes Well With:Water.
Makes amazing protein bars and pancakes, def recommend!
I've tried a couple of soy protein isolate from different companies, but Myprotein.com have the best! As always with an unflavored batch, it has that initial 'feels like my gag reflex has been triggered'- but with their batch, it's just a one-off! What I like about it, is that it has an ever so slightly grainy texture, but goes down smoothly. It thickens up like casein, if left for a minute or two and doesn't have much excess foamage! I guess the only downside I'd have with this, is that it doesn't mix well if you use a spoon or fork. It needs to be shaken, not stirred (haha)! It's a perfect product for a pre/post workout (I prefer it for a pre workout), for weights or cardio, however intensive it maybe. Just have a lot of energy and focus when it kicks in.. I highly recomend this!Goes Well With:Impact Whey Isolate or Micellar Casein..
I have been using the pea protein and soy protein for a number of years now. As a vegan I was finding it difficult to eat enough protein to build muscle without also eating massive amounts of carbs so I started with the pea and soy powders. I blend it with squash and a banana in the morning and shake it up with some squash after a workout - the banana definitely improves it but hey, I'm not drinking it for the taste. I also tried the other vegan proteins, but for me the price and taste/mix-ability of the pea and soy powders make them my favourites. I guess it has been effective as I'm stronger now than I have ever been - which is good.Goes Well With:Orange and mango squash for taste and a banana to give a smooth texture
Ordered this product in vanilla flavour and it tastes great, but the consistency is terrible! I mixed the powder with almond milk, exactly as it says the pack and it was extremely gloopy....kind of feels like you're drinking lumpy cake mixture. I tried this again with water and got the same result. This would probably be good blended up in smoothies or food recipes but definitely not good for simple protein shakes as this website and the packet suggests, very dissappointed.
The taste was so horrid that I threw the whole lot away after two uses. Was like drinking chemicals. Have been taking protein powder for years and this was by far the worst ever.
Seriously!!! I don't know what kind of limp wristed people are using this but I can tell you it mixes well!! I use strawberry & cream flavour in oats and the taste is amazing.. I can't compare it to whey as i don't use it but if you are used to a dairy free diet then this tastes great.. i also have the chocolate smooth flavour which I guess if want actual chocolate it will dissapoint you but as a flavoured soy protein its ok, mixes slightly thicker but again.. easy enough.. haven't tried vanilla yet but that's next. . Great product if you're dairy free Goes Well With:Oats..
I have tried alot of soya protein powders but none have been any good most tasted discusseding but not this one I have bought both chocolate and vanilla flavored ones and they both taste lovely and would recommend then to anyone.Goes Well With:Vanilla protein is so good to make protein pancakes and muffins.
I have recently tried to be Vegan and tried this powder for the first time. When i mixed it, it came out in a glue consistency and tasted like flour. I tried mixing it a couple more times with almond milk and triple checked the directions but the result was the same. They sent me out a new product which did the same thing, it mixes into a thick dough and tastes horrible, you would have to eat it with a spoon. Its a shame because have always found their products really good. But more work needs to be done in the vegan range. Don't understand how there are so many good reviews for this product. Thanks
Great taste, smooth like a shake and perfect as I'm lactose intolerant. I tried the chocolate 1st and is very nice with no gravel texture - just reordered the vanilla flavour to try next
As someone who can't have diary, I thought I'd give the Soy Protein Isolate a go as I've always found the Vegan Blend Protein to be grainy (but drinkable) - I'd hoped this would be the same, but without the grainy texture. I would say the Soy has the consistency and taste of semolina - it's like drinking double cream, but with a horrible taste. I had to use twice the amount of water to make it drinkable, but even then couldn't finish the shake. I've tried the chocolate and unflavoured versions and both are equally bad. I have tried masking it with MP flavour drops but the pasty texture is still there. I ended up feeling sick by the end of the shake. I'll be going back to the Vegan Blend and will just have to put up with the grainy texture.
Great product, great taste, goes really thick even when mixed with water.Goes Well With:I've mixing with water and chocolate soya milk. Great taste and thick texture!
I have always used Whey protien but no matter which one i used it always made me gassy, uncomfortable and realised it had too many chemicals and additives, so, decoded to try soy protien, I was pleasantly surprised as no stomach problems, mixed a lot easier with no lumps, tasted pretty good. The results are noticable within the first week so me iz a happy bunny lol.Goes Well With:I add strawberries or black and greens dark chocolate, but it will seam to go well with many other products, all clean and no chemicals of course, thanks guys
Great product, great taste, highly recommend for anybody who wants an alternative to whey
I have been trying to start taking supplements for years without finding one that tastes good and that agrees with my stomach, as I'm lactose in tolerant other powders majorally affected me to the point of stop working out all together but this magic powder has worked a treat and tastes great!!
I chose the unflavoured version of this product and it is by far the most unflavoured I have ever used- good to cook with and goes well with any kind of protein smoothie.
Have heard mixed reviews about non dairy protein, but thought I'd give this a go. Was pleasantly surprised, its really tasty. Have tried it in all the flavours. Will be sticking to this over the vegan blend!
Went vegan around 6 months ago and i've been through my proteins, but the vanilla tastes horrendous. Thoroughly recommend going for the strawberry option.Goes Well With:water
Expected it to taste the same as the protein hot chocolate but the chocolate smooth flavour is not very sweet and doesn't blend well :/ bit disappointed!
I bought this protein to replace the normal whey protein I used, on the advice of a dietician. However when tested again I've found I was still having an adverse reaction to this protein. It is suitable for people on Fodmap diet however wasn't any good for me. Goes Well With:Lactose free milk Fruit
I'm a vegan power lifter and I think this product is top class! The only thing would be that you have to add the powder to the solute instead of the ther way around as the powder will get stuck at the bottom of your container but I'm sure it's the same for most of them! The strawberry cream flavour is really yummy, just like a milkshake.Goes Well With:I blend it up with unsweetened almond milk and a few spoons of vanilla soy yoghurt.
I ordered Soya Protein Isolate as my son has a range of allergies and this contains neither milk products or gluten. We have been looking for a product that he can use before sports to give him energy and to bulk up his muscles whilst training. This product is amazing!! It tastes brilliant, is easy to mix, has not lumps, very smooth and very filling. It gives great energy levels and better recovery after exercise. Would highly recommend!!Goes Well With:Water/Soya milk to mix
Bought this due to my slight intolerance to dairy leaving me a bit heavy round the middle when using whey. Works just as good and has an impressive amount of protein along with some added nutritional bonuses. This does mix very thick tho and can be like drinking paint without enough liquid. Goes Well With:Water or Almond Milk
Purchased this vegan protein powder to go along side my new exerciser regime. Quick delivery and dispatch. Absolutely adore the flavour, I bought the vanilla powder. Mixes easily but I do mix mine in my Nutri bullet but it mixes well in a normal shaker. The taste is incredible. When mixed with soya milk it tastes and smells like cake batter. Haven't been using it that frequently as my meals change but when I do I throughly enjoy it. Would recommend 100%, great source of protein at 26grams per serving and a delicious taste, perfect for vegans or those not consuming dairy.Goes Well With:Bananas, oats and berries mixed up with a teaspoon of nut butter.
I have tried so many of the dairy free range and this is the best, will be staying with this now. Goes Well With:Can mix easy with water or soya milk.
Was looking for a lactose free protein powder, was chuffed when i saw this............But this protein was awful, really thick and hard to mix. The taste was awful, had about two shakes...could not bring myself to have any more of it.
Absolutely wonderful! I got the unflavoured one & the taste is perfect. It's nice & thick too. Just adding little water at a time, you get the perfect thickness. It also fills you up. I have found my perfect protein supplement. It'll be very useful to have Soy Isolate bites or bar.👍👍
Unfortunately recently I thought I would try Vegan blend and compare, why? why did I have to have this curiosity? I miss this. I've tried both vanilla and strawberry, I'm not usually a strawberry fan but this was tasty! Rather sweet but to be honest I can deal with sweet now that i've had a taste of vegan blend. I've read a lot of comments about the mixing etc I find that using 200ml of almond milk and 200ml of water the consistency is a lot better and it mixes well. Using Soy milk creates awful mixing which is expected. I workout quite a lot and I find this blend really helps with the building of toned muscles (I'm lactose intolerant so can't have normal whey) and keeps up your energy levels throughout the day if taken twice; once in the morning and once after workout. I mix it with the total nutri greens (which also I recommend). Hope this review helps and learn from my mistake just stick to the soy don't worry about what else is out there especially if the words include "VEGAN". Goes Well With:nutri-greens, Almond milk and water
