Worse tasting protein drink I've ever had, Chocolate. Very powderery and has a bad chemical aftertaste to it. Used more and less water than advised but tastes the same. I usually use a product for 12-16 week for best results but I won't be able to finish this bag off -2 weeks in wont be buying this product again. Miles better tasting post recover supps such as CNP PRO RECOVER, will be reverting back to that. Goes Well With:Nothing
I tried it and from the first time it left a very chalky taste on my mouth. Had to drink at least 500ml of water after the protein so that it clears my mouth! Worst protein I ever tried!
Good value for money ideal for my marathon training
Excellent post work out recovery formula that gives impressive gains. I'm training for triathlon but still putting on muscle doing plyometric and body weight workouts, not pushing heavy weights. Tastes great (chocolate smooth), mixes well and is excellent value given the complex content. Definitely helps me train harder. Highly recommended.
I Bought the Recovery XS 3 weeks ago, Taste wise the chocolate and banana flavour is great and it mixes well. The combination of Creatine, Carbohydrates and Protein is the best for maximal gains. Overall one of the best supplements i have ever taken, i recommend it at everyone without any hesitation. CheersGoes Well With:400ml water, milk and fruit shakes with egg whites
Chocolate smooth tastes great and mixes really well just with the shaker bottle, it is great for beating post workout cravings for high calorie food.Goes Well With:A workout!
The product certainly seems to have helped with stiffness after gym sessions. I use it as an alternative to breakfast on days when I commute to work early in the morning by bike
Was looking for something that would help me recover from my long runs. I chose this as it stated it had lots of products contained within the drink that would help muscles recover quickly. Tried the drink with water as suggested, but was unable to stomach it. Left me feeling very sick due to the over sweet taste from the sweeteners. It also left a powdery consistency even when shaken. I'm just about able to stomach it with milk (taste improved), although not something I would by again. Also quite filling if consumed before a meal. Goes Well With:Milk
Bought this instead of my usual Maxiprotein product, and didn't like it, had a strange taste, i bought chocolate smooth and it didnt really taste like chocolate, wouldnt buy againGoes Well With:milk better than water
Fantastic product and both strawberry and chocolate taste great - cant wait for my next workout! I was nervous ordering this after some reviews about the taste - but they are both great. Not sure what others were really expecting.
After trying various different products for recovery and gain I had disappointing results despite following instructions to the letter. I told a work mate that uses the gym on a regular basis like myself and he told me about the recovery xs. I ordered it as soon as I got home and awaited eagerly. After the first use I noticed that I did not ache anywhere near as much as usual despite pushing myself just as hard and I even had more energy, this has continued for the last month and shows no signs of changing! I would recommend this product to anybody in a heartbeat!Goes Well With:The CLA tablets, getting ripped and recovering quickly, just keep that exercise up and these two products work excellently together, or at least they have for me!
Overall, it is good value for money however I really cannot stand the taste. I ordered Strawberry and cream flavour and the first night I followed the instructions and put 3 scoops into my shaker and I just couldn't handle it. The flavour was over powering, artificial and I threw it down the sink after two mouthfuls. I changed my mixture to 1.5 scoops and it is more bearable. MP really need to look into adding natural flavorings to their products, a lot of supplement companies understand this and are moving towards it and I don't want MP to be left behind. That said, once you get past the taste it does a decent job. Even with my reduced mixture I am seeing benefits.
I am training hard for the London Revolution bike ride and am putting the miles in the saddle. I use this after hard rides to help me recover and I can honestly say it does exactly that. I feel no fatigue in general or in my legs even after 3 hours in the saddle. Before I started taking this my legs would feel sore and weak for a few days. The only downside is that it tastes quite bad. If you take small sips, it is OK to start with but then bit by bit a really artificial chemically taste creeps in which is pretty unpleasant. I have tried it with milk and water and it is equally bad. Saying that, the most important thing to me is the effect it has on my body and my recovery and frankly I can't knock that. If taste is important, though, give this one a wide berth.
I find most Myprotein product labels very poor, visually poor to read and printed cheap. It states 3 x the 90g scoop that's supplied, which I find is too much for me and I end up with wind and sometimes stomach cramps. The taste as others has stated is very chalky, shame it's not like the nutty chocolate whey protein my wife uses. However I guess the product it's self does what it should, I've come across some top UK athlete using Myprotein, and feel they should push what products they use to help Runner's pick the right products....
I have never used any shakes or powders before but thought I would give it ago as I found my recovery time is quite slow. I will admit I was quite skeptical if it would really make any difference but found it has really helped towards my recovery time and would definitely recommend. I was worried about the taste and texture as there were some mixed reviews on it however I found that it wasn't too bad a little bit powdery but other than that fine. Would be good if there was some more flavor choices though as it it is rather limited. Overall a very good product and would recommend to anyone who struggles with post workout soreness.
Good value for money. Great taste. Goes Well With:Skimmed milk
Recovery Shake is smooth and tasty and is easily mixed with water, I now take it with my Magnesium straight after the CrossFit WoD all together and feel better the next day for it plus, I have one just before going to sleep which helps too.Goes Well With:Water or milk and add some Magnesium.
This is a great post-workout drink if you want to get something down quickly. Super effective as it contains all you need after an exhausting session. I relly recommend it!Goes Well With:coconut or almond milk or normal milk
The flavour is good although the taste and consistency are terrible. the product is very powdery and doesnt mix great However, the results are good. i've noticed a very quick difference only half way through my programme, Will probably be switching back to Recovery Evo after this batch.Goes Well With:The seaside as it reminds me of sand. No its not that bad to be honest..
Only used twice so far however mixed it up has a great frothy texture a little bit of a synthetic first taste but has a great after taste! As far as it goes as a recovery formula it seems to do the trick and combined with a good foam rolling at the end of a run muscles feel good and refreshed the next day!
This is my first purchase from myprotein and having read the reviews on the recovery XS I must admit I was slightly conserend that it was going to taste really bad. I mixed it first with just water and it wasn't great, so now I mix half n half with milk and what a difference. More than happy with this and will be buying again. Goes Well With:Milk
It has allows me to work recover from injury and matches quickly and it is allowing my to train on a more regular basis. It is an enabler for all athletes. Goes Well With:Whole milk or in a protein smoothie/pancakes
So far so good! I haven't been using the product long enough yet to get the full benefit but, I seem to be fully recovered the next day and ready for another workout or more. Goes Well With:Milk or Water
The smooth chocolate tastes GREAT!!....with milk, do yourselves a favour and avoid mixing with water if you can..BURGH. mixes pretty well in a smart shaker, does have a very slight chalky texture, again more so with water. I've only used recovery xs a few times so far but as some one who plays 2 sports and has 2 pt sessions a week as well as a boot camp session it really helps my recovery for the next days training and has helped stave off the dreaded DOMSGoes Well With:Weight sessions and sports activities
I use this to recover from Cycling, a mix of HIIT and endurance rides, mixes ok the chocolate mint is very minty, tastes better with skimmed milk rather than water, seems to work ok at 47 I need all the help I can get to recover.Goes Well With:Skimmed milk
Bought the 5kg, it's a bargain, it's also an incentive to do lots of training over the coming couple of months. Easy to measure, mix and drink. Seems to work well too and doesn't make me wretch...Goes Well With:Milk
I switched to MyProtein from Optimum Nutrition a while back and have always been really pleased with the products - the taste, the quality and the value. Having had a varied mix of products and flavours I thought I was safe ordering this in Chocolate Mint - how wrong could I have been! The Mint is SO STRONG it was burning my throat on the way down! Stupidy (and partly because I've been pleased with everything else I've had from MyProtein) I've ordered a 5kg pouch and am now dreading having to choke it down after every workout for a fair while... Mix is ok - a little bit gritty but no where near the worst I've ever had. Results remain to be seen as I've only just started using Recovery XS instead of simply having Impact Whey after a workout (but I've never had issues with the effectiveness of the products before so not expecting any issues). It's just the MINT!! Goes Well With:Water or milk. Just LOTS of either to dilute the flavour as much as possible!
This product will take some getting used to, it doesn't taste very good, and it doesn't blend very well. (I use water, might try milk, see if it's any better) On the other hand, the results are pretty good, and that's all I care about :) So I'll be buying it again.
Ordered this recovery product in the Strawberry Cream flavour for use in marathon training. I found that it mixes very badly with water and has a very chalky taste and flavour. very heavy on the stomach and hasn't done any favours for gas problems. Doesn't seem to have any different effectiveness for recovery and muscle soreness than any other brand I have triedGoes Well With:Not sure ???
i got this for post run recovery and so far i can really feel the benefit - particularly the day after. Choc taste is ok - better with 1/4 milk and rest water to take the edge off.
I use it after a hard track session or after I've been doing my core work. Normally have it along with a meal after training. Been using it for the past month and I feel a real difference especially training everyday my body is less sore in the morning an after training.
I use this after a long ride and the difference between using it and not is really noticeable. Mixes ok and although a little chalky (smooth choc) its not hideous, I even reordered as 5kg the second timeGoes Well With:400ml water and wobbly legs
Bit chalky and its sweet but not bad overall . Does mix well in the shaker .
Great for combatting those next day aches and pains, one serving directly following a 10k run has been enough to drastically reduce DOMS. Only negative point would be that with the Choc Mint flavour the mint has an overpowering chemically taste that can be quite hard to stomach straight after a hard session, loads of other flavours are available though. Goes Well With:Milk and a banana in the blender.
I found that the recovery shake helped after my bike ride to reduce aches and muscle pain.Goes Well With:1 scoop of powder with 400ml of water.
This is the perfect stuff for a serious training regime. If you train most days then this helps to get you ready for the next day. My son has just completed the Devises to Westminster canoe marathon and we gave it to him and his partner every evening as soon as they got out of the water after paddling for 35 miles. Of course they were fatigued but they both agreed that the Recovery XS helped enourmously!
I've been using MyProtein products for about 4 years now, mainly the Impact Whey, but have struggled putting on size so decided to go for the Recovery XS along with the Whey Protein. I got the Chocolate Mint flavour and I can honestly say it was awful. With other bad tasting protein powders you can generally still force it down, but this stuff is simply unbearable. Even the smell is pretty bad!
This is the only recovery product that I use and it has allowed me to train hard 13 days out of 14 for Ironman races. It is way above any other product out there. I use 300ml of water with the strawberry powder and the next morning I can go hard again.Goes Well With:300ml of H2O
My house no longer smells like a protien bomb s exploded !! bought this for my son who s been using various protien shakes etc for the last year and the main thing we ve noticed with this product is he s stopped stinking the house out , so can only deduce it s much better on his digestive system, and it s farmore pleasant for everyone around him, as for effectiveness only being rated 4 this is purely because he s not been using it long enough to make a proper judgement
As always with the myprotein suppliments it was supprisingly tastey, however I had alot of trouble trying to mix the powder into the milk/water. As I start to shake the mixer so much foam is produced it stops mixing properly. The foam takes a very long time to disapear and when I drink it I get a gritty sandy feel in my mouth. It does seem to improve my muscle ache the next day though.Goes Well With:milk
Good filling shake after a workout. Having a few hours on the wattbike neds some decent calories after so its good for that. The taste of Chocolate Smooth isn't great - have with water to keep absorption quickest and the taste is a tad bland (although some will appreciate that as its not super-sweet) and it has a powdery feel to it. Not a great explanation but there's something not sweet about it. I also have it with Milk for breakfast and its pretty good. Thicker, slower absorbing and it tastes better too - more akin to Nesquik Chocolate Milkshake.Goes Well With:Milk rather than water for taste
Choco mint flavour is ok, it dissolves quickly and it definitely helps with recovery, I used to be really tired and since I take this I recover much faster.Goes Well With:I take it with water and it's fine, I haven't tried with milk.
Great taste, mixes great, helps you get back in the game. Couldn't fault it.
I am a semi pro footballer and use this for after football matches and training to get my nutrients back in my body and to help stop stiffness. I tried mint choc before with both water and milk and found it too strong and hard to stomache. This time I went for smooth choc and found the flavour much better and and quite tastey. I've only tried mixing it with water but mixes fine, would defo recommend the smooth choc. Goes Well With:Water (haven't tried milk as of yet)
I don't what happen to this product, but I bought the small size it was a lot smoother and taste better. So I thought as I got on ok with this I would buy the next size up but it taste different and has white bits in it and has a horrible taste to it! not very happy as cost a lot more!! now considering shopping around for some recovery protein. What has happen to this product? what a shame!! Goes Well With:milk
I got this to help with my training and so far it seems to have gave me a quicker recovery time. It tastes ok and mixes ok.
I found this product helpful in my powers of recovery especially with the additional creatine. Would recommend to anyone.
This is a great shake! I train 8 times a week, mixture of land and pool training for rugby and waterpolo at university. Straight after a tough session, get this stuff into the system. It definitely promotes recovery, allowing you to train hard every time. Great shake but does have a slightly powdery taste and the strawberry cream flavour takes some getting used to. It tastes better the more frequently you have it, and mixes much better with semi-skimmed milk than water. Great product, recommended!
Before taking recovery xs the day after training I was stiff and tired now these problems have now gon since I started taking this product great value and works for me
This is the 1st ever protein shake I have ever tried. I felt after going the gym I was tired and ached the day after. I am eating as healthy as I can. I felt I wasn't putting enough into my body and taking to much out. I have hit abit of a wall where I wasn't seeing much change if any. I bought a pack of this (strawberries and cream) amazing taste. Mixes really well. Tastes nice with water or milk. The small bag has lasted me over a month. After a work out I have more energy, don't ache the day after and I feel I can push that little bit more. Great product. Just bought some hurricane xs so will be good to see if that makes any difference. Thanks my protein.
