Very disappointed with latest order of this product. It was rather like flour, when what I wanted was Whole Psyllium Husks. Previous orders were totally different and were as described on the packet.
On my last order I did not received whole psyllium husks but very finely ground powder. It is very difficult to mix with water. Why did you change perfect product to this? Very disappointed.
As per another recent review, this product used to be good, but is now a fine powder - ideal if you want to consume wallpaper paste! I contacted My Protein following the change, they said: - "I have spoken to our relevant department, they state the product is fine, it's just a finest powder due to the new production process. If you're unhappy with this product, please feel free to leave your feedback on our website." I hope the old version is re-introduced soon.
I've bought Whole Psyllium Husks for some time now and have always been pleased at the good texture but the.last batch was just husk powder. It wasn't how it was described so where the name of Whole Husks came from I don't know. I was very disappointed and thought the wrong product had been delivered but soon realized it hadn't when I read how products can look different being sourced from different places.
This used to be great as whole husks but they've changed it recently so you just get a rubbish powder. I won't be buying these again as you've taken a 5 star product and made it 1 star.Goes Well With:The old type
Not like before where you had flakes, this stuff is now fine powder, so fine in fact when you open the packet it puffs up in the air. Not happy.
As others have said, the product has now changed to a fine powder when previously it used to be whole psyllium husks. I used to put a scoop of this into my porridge in the morning but I cannot do this anymore as it makes my porridge into an elastic-y lump which is inedible. I'm very disappointed at how this has changed as there was no warning to say. It is also virtually impossible to drink with water without feeling like you're going to be sick. Why change a good product MyProtein? :(Goes Well With:Nothing - it's gross
Psyllium husk mixed only with water - horrible (better mixed with cordial). However, add a scoop or two to vanilla protein base (or any other flavour), not only do you not taste the husk but it acts as a thickening agent - perfect. Add crushed ice, husk and vanilla powder with fresh espresso and blend and you've got yourself a frap'! It's great for fibre bulking of the bowel, keeps a regular bowel action. Word of warning: do not mix husk with boiling water as it turns into a mucous viscosity. Great value, delivery is always prompt and great fibre product, especially if you have a wheat/gluten allergy/intolerance.Goes Well With:Any protein powder.
Echoing the previous sentiments really. Previous product was great (whole husks). The new batch are powdered and thus not really ideal. They swell too quickly to drink. If you put enough product in the shake to be effective, its undrinkable. Enough to be drinkable and its ineffective. Can you please revert back to the previous formulation?
This product is completely different to the previous batches I have had. The old stuff was fibrous and mixed up to a pleasantly tasting and textured drink. Also, it worked well. This new stuff is just like Pollycell walpape paste. It is a very fine powder which sets to a disgustingly textured paste and is virtually impossible to swallow. Other users have made similar comments and I feel we have been conned. Either replace this with the old stuff or refund the money.
If your reading this now you must add this to your cart, had belly ache for first 2 days as it cleared out my guts and now every time I go to the toilet it's nothing but 1 wipe wonders. Great for feeling full when added to a protein shake
I am a huge fan of adding Psyllium husks to shakes. I have used the old 'whole husks' and the newer 'powder'. Some of the reviewers below seem to be confused as to the difference between husks and powder. The powder is made by grinding the husks down so that the gel produced is finer and has less of a grainy texture. If you are adding psyllium to a shaker, or mix your protein with a spoon, the powder may be a better choice because of its finer texture. If, like me you, mix in a blender, then it all gets turned to fine stuff anyway. Both forms of psyllium will provide the same health benefits (e.g. increase your daily fibre intake, help to make you feel more full post shake when dieting/cutting, help with the loo etc).Goes Well With:protein powders
I'm yet another VERY disappointed customer who bought what I thought was the same product I had previously used - WHOLE Psyllium Husks. This product has been changed to Psyllium Husks Powder and is no longer the advertised product. (Trading Standards issue?) I need the whole husks and the powder is not a suitable substitute. I could have bought cheap powder from any other vendor & won't buy this again from Myprotein until the advertised product is reinstated.Goes Well With:Woodchip wallpaper & a paste brush.
The old product, when it was whole husks was far nicer, this new version is unmixable, tastes terrible and floats on top of whatever you mix it with like sour milk. I used to mix this with my orange juice, as it worked like a pulp in smooth OJ but now its horrible and tastes terrible. The old stuff was almost sweet but this new product, as someone else stated, is like flour and tastes about the same. Hopefully they take this criticism on board and go back to the old style, or I'll be swapping providers.
As a customer who has purchased psyllium husks flakes for a few years now I was upset to open my newly purchased packet to find this fine powder. Initially I thought that my protein had sent me the wrong product. By the number of reviews surrounding this subject I hope my protein change the product back to what it was.
Just to reiterate the previous reviews. The composition of this product has changed from the previous excellent product offered by MyProtein. The batch I received (77779) was a very fine powder and not the same consistency of previous batches I've receive from MyProtein. It forms a glutanous substance very, very quickly. Whilste trying to consume it in the previous fashion (scoop of psyllium with a full shaker full of water), I just ended up with a mess in a glass. I tried again and found I was able to consume it by taking very small doses multiple times in quick succession. Seemed to work, for a few minutes... then i had a vomiting session in the bathroom! I'd suggest being very cautious with the dosage when you first try this. Maybe taking lots of small doses throughout the day rather than one large dose in the morning as I'm used to.
Taste is horrible and can be quite overpowering, so had to experiment with serving size. Half a small scoop is fine for my morning shake. Seems effective.Goes Well With:Impact whey
For many people, a good fibre supplement is going to have as large an impact on your health as any other supplement you can buy over the counter. Ranging from blood profile to anti-cancer. These Psyllium Husks blend particularly well with Impact Whey Latte flavour, it's almost like a dessert - especially if you follow a low carb lifestyle. (avoid consuming post-workout.)Goes Well With:Impact Whey - Latte Flavour
Mixes very well, and does the job. Wish the larger size bags (1kg upwards) were still available. Still excellent value.
Great product, good price.Goes Well With:makes great oopsie rolls.
I tried this product after having being diagnosed with Bile Acid Malabsorption, and had either chronic Diarrhea or severe Constipation with excrutiating pain due to the Bile Acids. Having been prescribed Colestryramine which mops up the Acids it has the side effect of Constipation. Once I started on the Husks the results/relief was very rapid. I can't praise this product enough and take it twice everyday. I couldn't live without it as it allows me to function normally every day. It doesn't taste very nice when mixed with water but that's a very small price to pay for the superb results I get from it. Anyone suffering my condition or IBS should get this product. I promise you it is fantastic!
Very disappointed with my latest purchase. Although the listing at the time, and the packet itself, says 'Whole Psyllium Husks', what I received was something resembling a fine brown dust. I left a review years ago saying what an excellent product it was, how it mixed well, and in OJ it was was like OJ with juicy bits. This is nothing like that; it doesn't mix well, and if you mash the lumps they are just a slimy paste. I see the name has since changed on the site to 'Powdered Psyllium Husks', and I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known that's what I was getting.
I've been using this for a few weeks, and ran out because I've been waiting over a month for a new package to be delivered. I've bought some Psyllium in a local health food shops and what a difference. The local stuff mixes well, tastes better and is much more effective - almost makes me glad Myprotein hasn't delivered on their promise to send me what I've paid for. Won't be buying from them again.
As has already been mentioned on this review page, the results are of the taste and texture of wall paper paste. I thought this would have been ideal to add to porridge but following mixing you can literally peel your porridge from the bowl in one big dollup, similar to the slime toy that kids from the 1980's will remember fondly playing with. Grim.Goes Well With:To be found.
I bought Powdered Psyllium Husks not just to help me get more fibre in my diet which if it was for that reason alone is a good thing as in this day in and age getting enough good fibre into our diet can be hard with all the processed food alot of us consume for a quick fix to feed our bodies through out the day. But I also bought powdered Psyllium Husks to help me feel fuller through out the day to help me from feeling hungry and going for a quick fix of chocolate bars or crisp and the processed carbohydrates between meals. Does it work for this reason? Yes I find it does the job of not making me hungry through the day and to stop the sugar cravings so I won't go for the quick fix junk food options. The fibre side to Psyllium Husks product, well were told by the health officials that where not consuming enough fibre in our diets now a days which I believe is true but how do we know? to be honest I do not but what I found since using powdered Psyllium Husks is that my bowel movements (sorry to gross any one out) are regular as clock work so to say and my stools have the same consistancy (no hard stools or too runner stools) comfortable when passing. How I use it? First thing in the morning on rising I mix one desert spoon with one pint glass of water and consume straight away I do not leave to stand as the fibre will solidify fast which is not recommended when in this state as it can stick in your throat so drink it down fast once stirred. This way it keeps me full through out the day. I've found the Myprotein Powdered Psyllium Husks product is a excellent product for the quality (easy to mix) and for the price they charge for this quality product as a lot of other companies will price the product as much as two to three times this for a good quality powdered psyllium husks product . Goes Well With:Any one starting a low calorie diet to lose weight as it stops them from feeling hungry through the day.
I bought psyllium husks to mix with pea protein, to make a protein pizza base. It worked well, and still plenty left to make more.
It's hard to get excited about powdered Psyllium Husks. On it's own has the texture of fine sawdust. However it's a cheap, natural source of fibre, with little or no taste of its own. Since going on a diet to lose weight, I've suffered a little from bowel movement irregularity, and while I have added extra fruit and vegetable to my diet they is only so much I can do. I thought I would try adding a little of this every day to get things moving more regularly. I add it to oat bran for breakfast, which makes for a pretty sticky porridge, but it goes down if you add cinnamon or something with flavour and eat it before it sets! It's a lot better with a chopped banana in a milk and yoghurt shake, where it doesn't distort the texture or flavour too much. Since adding it too my diet I've been more regular, which is good with no bowel problems associated with adding fibre to your diet - but I did increase the amount gradually over a week.Goes Well With:Banana/yoghurt/milk in a shake. Blitz and drink. You can use Soya milk and soya yoghurt if you don't want cows milk - it works okay too. Make sure you have plenty of liquid or it will form a sticky gel.
Helps with digestion really well, finally fixed my stomach problem that I have had for over 10 years.Goes Well With:Any food e.g. Smoothies, cereal, mixed into meals like pasta or rice
Since starting a protein rich diet I was getting serious constipation. I upped water consumption and made sure I ate lots of fruit and vegetables but nothing helped. Thought I would try Psyllium Husks a try and I'm glad I did. 4 scoops daily and I'm back going to the toilet just like before. fantastic product! Goes Well With:Water and a dash of squash!
A lot better than the last formula for some reason. I take ~10 - 15 grams last thing at night and in the morning it sweeps my colon clean or I feel that it does. Highly recommended.
Dry, nasty taste when taken dry, but good when mixed with a shake i.e chocolate, acting as a thickener. and making it easier to have as a supplement to your diet.Goes Well With:Impact Whey Chocolate
Doesn't really taste of much which makes it great to mix with anything. Better than tablet format find this works better Goes Well With:Porridge
Brilliant stuff, I suffer from problems ,since taking your product no more laxatives for me ,just gentle help .Goes Well With:My diet shakes in the morning
Does what it says really, good source of fibreGoes Well With:Mix it into cereals, shakes, anything really. It doesn't have a particularly strong taste so you can sneak it in anywhere.
Does the trick ,no more laxatives and stomach aches for me ,so easy to take I blend it in with my shakes in the morning . Perfect!!! Goes Well With:My protein shakes .
Brilliant stuff ,have a problem with my bowel this is perfect to keep me regular ,so easy to take just mix with my protein shakes, Goes Well With:Fruit juice or shakes love it .
as with other reviews I am disappointed with this product now. I did query it some time ago with My protein but was not given a satisfactory answer, please go back to your original husks
Pretty annoyed with this product. The last one was a lot better. You seem to need to have two or more times the amount as you used to for the same results. The packet on the site looks the same as the old one but the one you get is different and so is the product... !
Very disappointed with latest batch of husks. Now a fine powder rather than whole husks which does not mix or work as well as the previous product. Spoke with MyProtein who blamed their supplier but wouldn't be changing back to the old product. Will take my custom elsewhere!!
Not really one for reviews, but thought this was a must. From suffering from an under-active thyroid for over 12 years my bowel habits have never been regular lets say, tried all sorts of different products but nothing seemed to work. I thought od give this a go just to see...and oh my word its like a miracle cure. Started working after 2 days of use, i have 3 gram every morning in a small cup of water, doesn't taste of anything and mixes fine. I now go to the loo every single day without fail. Excellent product *****
The new powdered Psyllium doesn't mix well at all. The whey protein I mix it with turns to paste after a minute, and it's not as effective as the old, whole psyllium husk. Why this is still advertised as whole psyllium, not psyllium powder is beyond me! Change it back please!Goes Well With:The old psyllium.
I ordered the whole husks and was sent a powder, this was not a big deal deal until I came to bake this into my bread. It's absolutely disgusting, very bitter and has rendered my loaf inedible. I've wasted a lot of good ingredients. I don't normally leave bad reviews but this really is an unacceptable product.
Yes, these are definitely not WHOLE psyllium husks, they have in fact been ground down to a fine powder. They also work in a different way in that they act as an immediate thickening agent rather than expanding in the digestive system. However, the bottom line is that they both perform the same function. As before, I mix them with flaxseed, protein powder, nutrigreens and ground oats to form a nutricious breakfast shake. Because of the thickening quality of the ground husks, though, you will need to add more liquid to the shake.Goes Well With:Great addition to a breakfast shake (or any other shake come to that).
pleased with item not as easy to get down as the inulinGoes Well With:water or juice needs to be mixed vigoursley
This used to come as a fine powder, but now looks less fine. Somewhere in between porridge oats and flour. I'm not sure if that makes it more or less effective for digestion (I certainly don't have any complaints - pun intended) however in terms of mixability it's not as good as before.Goes Well With:I use it with whey protein, but I would imagine it would go with any protein shake.
Can someone confirm that this is now a FINE WHITE POWDER just like chalk powder. The other stuff I ordered under the same product name turn to a gel in water and this doesn't??? Is this right. If not My Protein are conning its customers and are being dangerous sending unknown chemicals/products incorrectly labelled.
Yes, it is effective, but after all this time, why are MyProtein still trying to con us to believe it is Whole Psyllium Husks when in fact it is actually Powdered Psyllium Husks? Surely being dishonest is no good for business. And like the other reviewers said, this powdered one does not mix at all in shakes or porridge and has an unpleasant texture that makes it difficult to use with anything or to swallow with water. MP should listen to its customers and bring back the whole one and in the meantime, rename the product to stop misleading customers.
I have Crohn's disease. I have suffered for many years with too many frequent trips to the toilet !!!! This product definitely helps to firm things up. Sorry to be so descriptive but if you suffer with Crohn's you will know what i mean. Less urgent trips to the toilet. I use one desert spoonful mixed with a mug of water in the morning and one late afternoon. It doesn't mix easily and tastes like wall paper paste. Also needs to be drank quickly before it goes like jelly. But I have tried so many things for this problem and it does help so worth persevering with. 🚽🚽
Excellent product it helps with ones digestive system and bowel movement
Very good product and excellent value for money compared to the same ingredient bought in health stores and pharmacies. It works as it should. The best is to mix it with orange juice (of some flavoured drink of your choice). It does not taste well with water only (but drinkable).
