I have been working out for a few months now and have tried several other Vegan protein powders including the Vegan Blend and Brown Rice Isolate. All I can say about this product is that it is the best protein I have ever tried. With the other products I would have quicker recovery and my muscles would not ache as much, with this one how ever I am like a son of Zeus reborn to bring his justice down upon the earth. After drinking this for merely one day I stormed into the gym and destroyed my workout. With each rep I let out a roar like a lion as the weights flew up and down like the waves of a violent storm. After leaving I had another shake and felt an immediate effect to my ego and power, so I ran out into the woods. Stripping my clothes off one by one I decided it was time to return to nature and live like a real man. I proceeded to hunt deer and other smaller mammals in the woods, feasting on their still warm corpses like a rabid zombie devouring his meal. On the fourth day I attracted the attention of a bear that was originally the top predator in the woods. He stood on his back legs and let out a vicious roar as he prepared to crush my frail, human body. Little did he know I had the Pea Protein Isolate effects surging through my veins and I leaped forward like a panther. My fist connected with a shattering crack and the bear simply imploded from the amount of power focused down my fist. I am now wearing his skin like a cape as I assert my manly dominance over my wooded domain. 11/10 - no other product will ever come close.Goes Well With:Bear hunters Demi Gods People who wanna lift good
Great protein with good mixability, which helped me recover faster and gain lean muscle weight. I've never had an upset stomach with it, unlike some other proteins. Great value for money!Goes Well With:Creatine
I was a protein powder virgin before trying this, (and not wanting anything animal based with the nasty additives & sweeteners) after much research I decided to give this one a go. Tried with water at first, and on its own it has a very savoury taste exactly lie you would expect if eating powdered dried peas! But second attempt I blended with a banana and water and to my delight the sweetness of the banana balanced the savoury taste of the pea! Now I have it every day with a spoon of peanut butter, organic banana and a spoon of flax seed oil - makes a great tasting thick shake and super healthy too! :-) Am keen to try the hemp powder next and mix in the same way…! Would recommend…! Goes Well With:Water, 1 Banana, Peanut Butter
As a vegan, to find protein which i can supplement my diet with, leaves me with few options. This protein source is not good on its own as a shake, however I have found it is a brilliant way to make soup full of protein. I make soup full of vegetables to get all the goodness with them, add one to two scoops of protein and then you have a meal with few carbs, lots of nutrients and high protein, which tastes awesome. The pea protein taste merely complements the flavour of the other vegetables, rather than trying to stomach it on its own. I also have Hemp protein mixed in with my porridge with some cinnamon which tastes neat, and a way to make one of the best complete proteins (hemp) taste good.Goes Well With:Vegetable Soup
I recently purchased a 1kg bag of Pea Protein Isolate from My Protein as I have come to realise that after a year of dragon training, my ability to strength and condition train with my 3 year old Burmese dragon has somewhat diminished. He has grown to twice the size he was when I collected him as an egg from his mother's nest in early 2012. As soon as I realised that I could no longer hold his muscular lizard-eque neck in a sleeper hold I knew I had to increase my protein intake without suffering any untoward gastro-intestinal embarrassments whilst in public. With my young dragon screeching from the pain of hunger in the dark, damp dungeon of my 8th century castle, a solitary black crow landed in the courtyard. It dropped a piece of parchment noting that i was to attend the apothecary immediately to meet the Grand Mage of Feathershall to collect my goods. After an hours walk across wet marshland and wooded hills I eventually reached my destination. There it sat.....the satchel of strength.....dressed in a turquoise and white pelmet and physically pulsating I collected my Pea Protein Isolate from the Grand Mage and took my leave back to my castle. By now it had grown dark and thunder was in the air. With rain lashing down from the gods my regal wolf-fleece became heavier and heavier from saturation. I slipped and lost my footing dropping the powdered excelsior into the mud below. A bolt of lightening hit the castle and with that the harrowing shriek of my young dragon filled the air. In my own royal experience I knew this was a bad sign.....but what about the village I had sworn to protect?????Suddenly, out of the black night, crimson and yellow flames began erupting from the castle ahead....."He is coming...." I whispered quietly to myself. The only thing i could do was reach for my Pea Protein Isolate and hope that the energy and spirit of wolves that it contained would be unleashed into my bloodstream once consumed. I collected as much rainwater as I could and crushed some bogmyrtle and dandelion root into the mixture. Tilting the satchel towards the sky I poured its contents and essence into my mouth, with powdered strength emanating from my very core I leaned back, fists clenched and howled at the darkened sky. At first I noticed an intense tightening of every muscle and increased aural and mental cohesion. My hearing increased by 86% and with my mental capacity doubled I knew that the spirit of my forefathers had been tapped into. My skin became like that of volcanic rock and now I had every skill and attribute needed to defeat my tyrannous reptilian beast. With eyesight akin to a falcon and the renewed lung capacity of a 2 year old dolphin I spotted the beast terrorising the village. I lept forward from the marsh, my thighs bursting at the seems I looked up, jumped with all my regal might until I reached the orbit of our closest celestial object and..............it ended. My lungs imploded and I froze to death. Lessons learnt: Never go into space without pressure stabilising apparatus. No Pea Protein Isolate can provide this power I dont care who you talk to. Goes Well With:Dragon slaying. However do not use if going into unplanned orbit without pressure stabilising apparatus (see above).
Overall good product but I deducted one star because on the website they say "gluten free" but on the pouch there is sticker which informs you that this produt is manufactured in a facillity that handles "gluten".
I like to think I can stomach almost any food but this protein has proved my nemesis. I tried it with absolutely every combination and gagged on most of them. For a while, I held my nose whilst drinking it with orange juice, but it got to the point where I dreaded my daily dose of protein. Just this week though, I have finally hit on 2 ways of mixing it which really work for me and don't taste in the least bit vile. 1) Mix with vegetable soup: you won't even notice its presence. And 2) Mix it with Nesquik banana milkshake powder in a 1:1 ratio and add water to mix: quite remarkably, this is actually pleasant to drink! My protein doesn't need to get tossed in the bin after all!!Goes Well With:Banana milkshake. Soup.
So a lot of people have commented on the unpleasant taste of this protein, they weren't wrong. It has a strange, savoury flavour and it has a chalky texture which isn't nice. However, another reviewer suggested blending it with a banana and some peanut butter and this actually made it pretty drinkable. Ultimately I've seen good results from it and I've got a far more settled stomach (compared to whey protein). Plus it's a great opportunity to get away from impact whey which is full of sweeteners. Definitely worth a try!
Since becoming vegan I turned to this and the Soy Protein and have to say that this is hands down one of the worst things I've ever tasted. It's very chalky, bitter and doesn't mix as well as the Whey powder. I've tried mixing this with fruit, cocoa, agave syrup and coconut milk, to name a few, but this still tastes awful. Mixing with less liquid to get it down quicker is even worse because it's so thick and chalky XoP Bananas seem to work and also mixing into a soup or stew but this isn't always convenient when you're in the gym.
Well I must admit that the pure taste is awful BUT there is always a way to make things way more delicious. ? just mix it with approx. 15 toffee flavored drops. I bought some berry flavored drops as well but it is not that good in combination with the PPI. Toffee is excellent. So buy the protein with these toffee drops and you will overcome the bad taste :)
I started taking it (with brown rice protein for better amino acid profile) - and have noticed huge improvement from the start. Obviously i was laking protein for the intensity of my workouts. The taste is very floury, but that has to be expected. Mixed with couple bananas Goes Well With:water, bananas
I have been using this protein and soy protein for a number of years now. As a vegan I was finding it difficult to eat enough protein to build muscle without also eating massive amounts of carbs so I started with the pea and soy powders. I blend it with squash and a banana in the morning and shake it up with some squash after a workout - the banana definitely improves it but hey, I'm not drinking it for the taste. I also tried the other vegan proteins, but for me the price and taste/mix-ability of the pea and soy powders make them my favourites. I guess it has been effective as I'm stronger now than I have ever been - which is good.Goes Well With:Orange and mango squash for taste and a banana to give a smooth texture
Works well , don't buy it for the taste because you won't like it .. I blend it with a banana and some cocoa powder for taste . Gentle on your stomach doesn't bloat you . Pretty good all roundGoes Well With:Banana
I don't know what all the bad reviews about taste are. I assume all these reviews are from people who like artificial flavours reducing the protein content up to 5%. The taste is completely fine and it mixes like a dream with no chunks of protein in like some Whey alternative proteins do. People just need to get to grips that its a protein drink that takes about 5seconds to drink. I would definitely recommend it though, a great vegetable protein to counter the amount of meat proteins a diet. Cannot comment on effectiveness at the moment, but great value and easily better than some Whey alternatives.Goes Well With:Chocolate Nesquik or by itself!
Despite plenty of people stating how disgusting this product is, I still bought a 2.5KG bag of it. I mixed it with a banana, some oats, a tablespoon of peanut butter, some rice milk, water and cinnamon and it was one of the best shakes I've ever shake, super smooth as well!!! I havn't tried it on its own yet, but I'm trying to bulk at the moment so wouldn't have it on its own anyway.Goes Well With:(cinnamon, banana, milk, peanut butter)
"No problems with digestion. Will be buying more.\nOf course it would be nice to drink a protein shake that tastes of a children's milkshake but this is not what we are buying.\nI wouldn't personally add juice or some sort of flavourng, I think it makes it worse actually. Best way to drink it is with water and just imagine you have some medical condition and you need to drink this to cure your illness. It works for me!"
Bought this about a week ago to help supplement myself whilst completing an extended juice fast (only drinking homemade juices made from fruits n veggies) Smelled it and thought it was going to be vile. Could definitely taste a full scoop of it in my mean green juice. So tonight I thought I would try it as it is with water. Ok its never gonnabe a yummy chocolate shake but it was totally fine. Mixed really well and the taste was hardly offensive. So from now on thats exactly how I will be drinking it. When I move on from solid juicing I may supplement soups with it too. Cannot comment on its effectiveness yet as I havent done a work out yet. Very pleased with the macros and the amount of carbs. Goes Well With:for me personally its fine with water!
This is the second brand of pea protein and the Myprotien tastes better and is a quarter of the price. Fits into my vegan diet and has improved my performance on the bikeGoes Well With:Banana and "oatey" drink smoothies
Taste takes getting used to and sits well in my stomach. Whey protein did not and so I looked for a non-dairy alternative. Cheaper and will be purchasing again.Goes Well With:Water
Taste is okay - imagine chick peas finely blended and then water or milk added. A bit heavy to drink down if you add more than a large heaped tablespoon. But worst bit is trying to get the stuff dissolved into a drinkable solution. Even my blender couldn't do it and you have lots of undissolved lumps stuck at the bottom of the blender which is difficult to scrape out. Imagine trying to mix dough together with a little water and feel how sticky it is . So basically you get a good workout trying to stir the stuff manually in a glass but if some of the lumps form, you have to try and use your fingers to break it up. Then the stuff sticks to your fingers like superglue. Awful product and won't buy again - very disappointed with the purchase and just too much hassle. Also, about an hour later you feel incredibly thirsty as if the stuff has absorbed all possible moisture in your gut . So you end up drinking pints of water to ensure its digestion (otherwise you will get constipated- I guarantee it). I think I'll just stick to milk and yoghurt after a workout as this has all the enzymes one needs to help recover. From what I've read , the body can only absorb about 20gms of protein and any more than that is excess (ie.end up as fat or discarded as waste). In my humble opinion don't waste your money.
The first time I drank it, it tasted really bad. BUT the more I drink it, the less bad the taste is. So, to the people who say that they can't bare the taste, give it some time and keep drinking it. You know it's good for you! All natural, no weird and unpronounceable ingredients. Doesn't get any better than that.
This tastes like peas. It really does, which makes sense. I like peas but drinking them is another matter but after about 5 attempts I think I've nailed it. Mix with coconut milk, banana drops and a tea spoon of peanut butter and shake the living day lights out of it and hey presto! You can drink it without thinking 'why the hell am I drinking peas!?' I swear when I sweat afterwards I smell like peas..I don't think anyone has noticed yet. But hey, everyone loves a pea. Oh, and as far as I can tell I'm feeling less tired and recovering faster and feeling strong. Well done peas. Goes Well With:Coconut milk, banana drops and peanut butter
I bought this product having read some of the reviews but I can't believe people actually think this tastes good, it is absolutely disgusting. I've tried to get past this issue and just drink the shake but it's that bad I'm going to end up binning the lot, it really is a horrible shake!
I have bought four 2.5 kg deliveries of pea protein isolate. It is not very easily mixed and does not taste appetising but I could cope with that. The results are reasonable and it is good value for money. However the quality is not consistent. I was pleased with the first two deliveries. The third had a strong taste of fish. I queried this with myprotein but did not get a reply. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and ordered a fourth lot. This had no fishy taste but instead it had a powerful laxative effect whenever I had more than one dessert spoonful serving a day. On one occasion I had to go to bed to recover from a powerful evacuation. As a result I won't be buying any more.
This product is excellent. I mix it with brown rice protein, alpro almond milk unsweetened, organic rice dream, vanilla flavour and a teaspoon of honey, and its yummy. I have one every RPM class I teach, and really helps me recover so much quicker, ready to teach the next day. I have really noticed a difference. Along with a healthy diet, high in protein I have lost weight also. Yay!!Goes Well With:Brown Rice Protein, Alpro Almond Milk, Organic Rice Dream and honey.
This came really quick ordered Sunday got Tuesday and it wasn't meant to come till Friday was stoked thennnnn I tasted it.....no one takes protein for the taste but god this protein tastes like awful! I was taking vanilla cookie whey protein before I found out I was lactose intolerant and it was making me sick (gutted) I was weighing up getting the pea or the vanilla flavoured soy protein but this was on sale and I was being tight fisted seeing as it is January and all. Why o why didn't I get the vanilla soy the shake is awful even tried adding vanilla syrup to it . I saw a review said goes well with vegetable soup so I'm going to try that but I shall definitely be buying the vanilla soy instead god willing that tastes much betterGoes Well With:I am yet to find this out it will be going well with my bun if I don't
I bought this because I suspected that Soy Protein was causing me some medical problems and I can't have dairy. Reading the reviews it sounded terrible but I was pleasantly surprised. The texture is quite different to soy - much more gloppy when mixed. You also have to get past the smell - but it doesn't taste like it smells. I have yet to try this in a shake, but I mix it in my porridge or granola in the morning and I actually really like it. I would recommend it.Goes Well With:Porridge and coconut milk
I am a big fan of the whey proteins I have bought from here as they have been easy to mix and easy to swallow; this is pretty much the opposite. I had tried a pea protein from a high street shop and found it tolerable. This stuff is much thicker (I needed to use about twice as much water to make it work) and then it still has a big more of a creamy texture. Flavour kills it. It pretty much is comparable to drinking mushy peas through a straw. I was keen to try the protein because it's something different, but, I'd suggest avoiding it unless you are desperate for a non-whey option and nothing else is tolerable.Goes Well With:Bangers and mash.
I love this pea protein, it has a high percentage of protien per serving, tastes ok and is very gentle on the stomach, I use is as an alternative to whey as I'm intolerant to whey. Highly recommend it.Goes Well With:All amino acids, maltodextrin, creapure, taurine, and juices.
It took me nearly a full 2.5KG to find a way to get used to the taste, but now that i have,i have no problem drinking it straight with 250ml of water. I first tried mixing it with hemp and creatine, which created a disgusting cocktail that smelt like dog food, i then tried it with soup but i could still taste it, next i tried blending it with banana and peanut butter- the taste still managed to be there for me. I eventually settled on 250ml of refridgerated water, a dash of orange cordial and a full scoop of the pea protein. Apart from a slight foaming i had no problems with this combination and now that i'm on my second bag i have been drinking it with just water when i'm at the gym and don't have any orange juice on me. This and hemp protein are the only protein powders i have ever tried, so i can't comment on how effective it is in comparison to whey or any other protein powders. But i can say i'm seeing gains using it and for the price it can be had for i will continue to buy it.
Ik some people were commenting on the taste but it is truly awful, for some stupid reason I ordered 2.5kg and dred drinking protein each week because the taste is so bad
After buying the 2.5 kg pouch I was impressed with the value for money compared to other brands such as high 5 as you get more bang for your buck. I wanted a pure protein shake and not a sugar shake with very little protein in it so opted for this. The taste like many other reviews state isn't nice and after trial and error I have found 300ml of water and 300ml of milk together with a flat measuring of the powder in the scoop provided is the most palatable. Milk on its own is too thick and water makes it taste worse but is much easier to drink so I've found that half and half has the best taste to drinkability ratio.
The powder worked well and made me feel stronger plus aided my weight gain.
One of the more effective ones that I've tried! If you're not a fan of the flavour its easy to tame, add pretty much anything. Add juice or get the blender out and experiment!Goes Well With:Green smothie ...water, banana, spinach, watermelon ! Or almond milk/water
You don't take these things for taste. You take them to supplement your diet. This tastes repulsive therefore you learn not to rely only on shakes for your protein intake. It teaches you to sort out your diet. I haven't lost any muscle mass since I started this and I don't/ can't have it more than two or three times a day because of the taste. It is cheap and does the job. If I was bothered about the taste, I'd eat cake!Goes Well With:Milk and juice
I bought this protein as I'm lactose intolerant hoping to use this as my main source of protein other than meals. I have done that but the taste is awful even adding different things in with it can't take away the awful flavor!
It does what it is supposed to do. Mixes well with water, and the taste is as plain as expected which is just right. One dose before workout and one right after does the trick! very good value. Goes Well With:water
The only protein drink that does not leave me feeling bloated like other protein drinks ! Would recommend it !Goes Well With:Vanilla flav drops
Cheapest I have found on the net, although it does smell rather foul compared to other more famous brands. Goes Well With:Banana and flaxseed in a smoothy
I am happy with this product for its ease of blending and for the fact that it is easy on the stomach, not full of artificial sweetners and most importantly Vegan. I have seen great improvements in my definition having substituted some of my daily calories for pea protein shakes. I take it with enough water to make in thin consistency and your choice of squash or a dissolved vitamin B tablet
Very good product, 2 minor downsides : 1. taste 2. grainy feel in mouth best solution i found so far : mix with orange juice (test several to get the right one for you) I drink it non stop in 4-5 gulps and done! :) I mix with BCAA's to get more amino acids since i'm vegan + it gives a sweeter taste.Goes Well With:BCAA (important for vegans/veggies)
i don't like that i don't get any calls and I don't know when exactly the product will be delivered... why don't you request a phone number?
The first time you drink this get ready to vomit - but you just got to man up and take the pain. I now add warm water, fill just enough water so that it is thick then straight down with one breath and have something sweet afterwards to kill the taste. Been taking this for 2 weeks - unsure of gains just yet.Goes Well With:Anything with flavour afterwards to kill the taste.
Great value for money. As a shake it does not taste great. However, if I mix a scoop with water into some curry sauce & vegetable stock, the nasty taste is completely gone; a great high protein curry sauce. Throw in a portion of rice and you've got all the essential amino acids. As for shakes, I mix this half and half with another chocolate flavoured pea protein which costs three times as much, and some almond milk. Again; tastes great. I definitely think savoury dishes work better with this powder though, it's a great way to add protein to vegan meals.
I have always struggled to find a protein drink that didn't bloat me until now ! This protein mixes well with no side effects such as bloating ! I have ordered more ! Shame about the taste tho I have got use to it !
It's ok. Solid vegan protein. Tastes pretty rank - mixes well with fruit juice or into food like chilli or similar. But is cheap and presumably useful! A bit more problematic if cutting as there's nothing low/zero calorie it mixes with without being so foul tasting (say if mixed with water) as to be inedible. Goes Well With:Apple juice
Have been mixing this in with my muesli for breakfast. Not as sweet as the soya protein I was previously using so maybe an acquired taste. I like the flavour as it does not really taste of much and so doesn't taint the muesli. Dissolves well into the soya milk.Goes Well With:Muesli
Good price which convinced me to give this product a go - having used pea protein in my diet for well over a year now. I have found that this one has 10 calories more per 20g serving then another leading manufacturer. It also contains far too much sodium - which you can taste - in my humble opinion. It mixes up slower but does turn out to a similar consistency but with less volume. I am stuck with 5kg of the stuff - and wish I had paid out for my regular pea protein for the many health benefits it has. But if you are on a budget and want something simple to add to shakes or porridge etc. - try this as you know no different. I often mix it with water - add my own vanilla and sweetener and it almost tastes like angel delight - especially if you make a bowl and pop it in the fridge for a bit so it thickens. Goes Well With:Porridge, weetabix, yoghurt, fruit, shakes.
The taste isn't great, I couldn't have it on it's own. I mix it with soy protein strawberry cream flavour and it still tastes pretty bad. I'm looking for other ways to use it but not sure how
Although it takes quite a lot of other ingredients to make this into a pleasant shake, I found that this Protein blends perfectly into savoury dishes. Be creative; half a tin of chopped tomatoes, vegetable stock, garlic, chilli powder and a scoop of pea protein powder mixed with water and you've got a high protein, low fat, low carb dish that tastes great and fills you up. Add some rice/red pepper (anything with methionine/cysteine) for a great amino acid profile.Goes Well With:Soup/curry/stir fries.
