What is Inulin?
Inulin is a starchy carbohydrate found in pulses, predominantly lentils and chickpeas. This amazing fibre has recently been featured on the BBC’s programme with Angela Rippon, ‘How To Stay Young’.
Benefits on Inulin
Inulin offers a range of health benefits. Considered a prebiotic, Inulin is a carbohydrate that good bacteria in your digestive system utilises to produce a number of nutrients which are beneficial towards human health.
How can Inulin be used?
Inulin is also used in baking to preserve the moisture in cakes and biscuits, but also as a binding agent. Inulin can also be used as syrup, by mixing it with water and heating. Finally, this versatile fibre can be used in smoothies to make them thicker and more satiating.

Arrived promptly and is exactly what I hoped. Goes Well With:Most things from drinks to pancakes
The product is good and can be mixed with most things. I find that there are very few instruction either on or inside the pack. How many times a day is it supposed to be taken (once, twice or doesn't matter) this guidance is important to those who are using the product for the first time.
Great service guys. Very impressed with the delivery time, quality of packaging etc. Started using Inulin immediately - very easy to use - I just added it to my bowl of breakfast oats. In case you haven't seen the programme with Dr Chris van Tuleken and Angela Rippon (How to stay young), Inulin reportedly helps break down visceral fat if used consistently over a period of about six months. Well worth a try.Goes Well With:Basic porridge made with oats and milk.
Last time i went on a calorie controlled diet/meal replacement diet i struggled with my bowel movement for days at a time. That was inclusive of having 28g of flaxseed a day. I have now introduced inulin into my diet and my bowel movements are somewhat regular without the constipated/painful feel. This product mixes very well even in water like others have said; i would definitely be buying this agian. thank you myprotein :)Goes Well With:anything liquid
This is very mixable, you don't need a lot of it, in fact even the small scoop suggested once a day can be a sudden change to the body, any rises in fibre can give gas until the body is used to it. Saying that it does actually work as it's meant to, so I would suggest it for anyone that eats a lot or finds it harder to break down protein and carbs, but maybe start with a tiny bit and work your way up.Goes Well With:protein, oats, glutamine, juice
Our order came promptly and well packaged. Don't really know the benefits and probably won't know in the short time. Just hoping to reduce internal fat if I have any? After watching TV programme about the benefits of inulin, we decided it may do some good and won't do any harm as its only a food supplement. Goes Well With:I find it dissolves easily in my hot coffee or tea.
To soon to tell if this product can do what it's meant to do yet. But it was easy to find on this site and easy to order, and the delivery service was quick. Goes Well With:I use Inulin in the morning with what ever I'm having for breakfast and in the evening same again. It does have more of a sweet tast than plain. Which I personally like.
I have been using it for about 3 weeks. It is tasteless, I have with porridge in the mornings. I can not say it is the reason I have lost some weight. I am taking it because of the program How To Stay Young.
Having watched Angela Rippon on the BBC programme, How to Stay Young, I decided to try inulin because although I am fit for my age and not overweight, I suspect that I am carrying too much visceral fat. It was discovered on the programme that this was Angela's problem, picked up on a MRI scan. I do not propose to go to the expense of an MRI scan, so I can only suppose that the inulin is doing me some good! It is tasteless and mixes well in a morning glass of water. A small scoop was provided and I have one scoop per day, so the 500 gram bag should last quite a long time. No side effects - maybe slightly windy for a couple of days.
I have just started using this but like others I would welcome more guidelines as to how much to take. Saying a small scoop of 5g with shakes etc must depend on how many shakes you have in a day???
I mix this with a little apple juice topped up with water and some green powder. It has no taste and seems to vanish once it has mixed in - just making the drink feel slightly smoother. I feel it has benefited my digestion and so far seems to help with low blood sugar slump. I have not rated its effectiveness as it is too early to say what the long term effects are.Goes Well With:Green powder, Udo's Choice wholesome fast food, Fruit juice and probably anything else you want to use it with.
I want inulin and this is the only source of bulk packets I've found yet in UK. It's a coarse powder (small granules), which dissolve in a glass of water fairly easily. It tastes a little bit sweet and I use it to disguise the rather unpleasant flavour of MSM. Stir the inulin in first for better dissolving. I've been taking it for a few months, to feed my gut bugs and I think it will take longer to assess the effectiveness. No change yet and I'm optimistic it will come.Goes Well With:Water and MSM
Inulin is very good to get enough fibres. I put it together (10 g) with with a pound of lowfat fromage blanc and a proteinshake. It tastes good, is good mixible and its the best overnight combi
Excellent product. Mixes very well. Easy to take.
Heard great things about this so decided to try. Mixes well, no taste and hope to reap the benefits of this super stuff!!
TOO EARLY TO MAKE A COMMENT REALLY, OTHER THAN MY GP HAS AGREED FOR ME TO TRY THIS ON MY RECOMMENDATION, THEN HAVE A CHLORESTROL CHECK IN 3 MONTHS.....WATCH THIS SPACE
Really pleased with the powder, goes into anything and noticed a difference the next day. A very easy way to ensure fiber in your diet and keep the fat tissue around your organs lean.Goes Well With:Anything, food drinks, because it doesn't taste of anything it is so versatile.
Very good product, good quality, definitely recommend
Without wanting to sound disgusting this product really works in producing a better No2. I disolve it in my morning tea or coffee. My only con is the size of the package. I think it's too big for the amount of contents. When using the provided scoop you get lots of product on your hand.Goes Well With:Anything it's tasteless
I first came across inulin on the TV programme "How to Stay Young", when Angela Rippon was advised to use inulin to reduce her visceral fat. I subsequently found a research paper --- "A randomized controlled trial: the effect of inulin on weight management and ectopic fat in subjects with prediabetes" --- that concluded that "Inulin may have a two-pronged effect on the risk of diabetes by 1) promoting weight loss 2) reducing intrahepatocellular and intramyocellular lipid in people with prediabetes independent of weight loss." Inulin is very easy to take. I just add it to a mug of tea in the same way that I would add sugar. It has a pleasant, mildly sweet taste. I started at one scoop (3.5g) of inulin per day, and I'm slowly building up to the levels (~30g per day) used in research trials. I haven't had any significant problems with flatulence, but I was already on quite a high fibre diet so my digestive system was probably already in a good state to tolerate --- and, I hope, benefit from --- the addition of inulin to my diet. It's much too early for me to comment on inulin's effectiveness ....... and I may never know with any certainty whether it's having a beneficial effect on me as an individual. You need proper randomised, double-blinded scientific trials to establish the effectiveness of this sort of dietary intervention.
Didn't know what to expect as this was a first time buy but pleasantly surprised. Very fine powder so mixes with anything - plain water or sprinkle on food. Hardly any taste but sweet, so wouldn't put on savoury food. Use in baking too. Just wish l could monitor it's effectiveness. Goes Well With:Anything non savoury, food or drink.
Easy to use, only been using it for 2 weeks. Very disappointed on instructions only comment on the package 1 1/2 scoop ... no mention of how often, with food or not.
Mixes really well - too early to tell if I will reap the benefits, but after hearing good things about the effects of Inulin, I was intrigued to try it! I was worried it would taste disgusting, but you can't taste it at all! I mix mine with a glass of water each day and it tastes fine!Goes Well With:Water
I bought this product after watching the BBC programme about staying young with Angela Rippon. Being slightly overweight i was worried about internal body fat around heart etc and so thought i'd give it a try, on the premis that it might do me good. Did a lot of back ground reading (which is always a good idea!) and it seemed safe with few side effects. So bought this from a reputable online firm (no high street store by me sell it) My Protein, and am so glad i did. Firstly the product is amazing, it taste when mixed with water (1 teaspoon in water); like very mild fruit sugar. More amazing though is that it has helped me lose 8lb in 4 week. For me this is due mainly i think because it just reduces my appitite. It might be doing something clever inside but i just feel more satisfied after eating and am not craving sweet snacks during the day. It was so effective during the first few weeks i also add some to my sons milk shakes, to help him control his weight. Again it just seems to reduce appetite for us. If it is also reducing internal fat then thats a bonus. Glad i used "My Protein", very careful what i give my son, doubly so with medicine (which this isn't) and suppliments, but i am confident that M Protein supply me a high quality product. Their customer service is amazing and I am so grateful i found this company and this product.Goes Well With:Water and Vimto Milk shakes with fruit
I have only been using inulin for a couple of weeks - all I can say is that I feel better. I don't have any physical proof of it - no weight loss, no miraculous skin tightening or the reversal of the effects of gravity BUT I really FEEL better. Let's give it another little while and I'll report back again. AS for taste - there is none. I usually have it in my first cup of green tea in the morning and it doesn'y efffect the taste or texture of it.Goes Well With:Anything I eat or drink !
Bought this product as it is recommended to reduce visceral fat (around the organs) with long term use, so there's no visible evidence that it works, you've got to trust the research! It's a very fine odourless and tasteless powder so is easily taken in food (I mix it into yoghurt) although I haven't tried it in a drink/liquid. The only negative is the packaging, it comes in a sachet with a small scoop which means putting your whole hand into the bottom of the sachet every time and getting covered in the (slightly sticky) powder which wastes the product. It needs to be supplied in a tub. Goes Well With: Yoghurt
It's difficult to review a product properly when the effects may not be fully gained for several months. But the product is exactly what I expected, it mixes well within shakes, I've yet to cook with it although I don't force any issues having used it cold in mixes. Goes Well With:Shakes (cold)
As stated there is no taste. It is too early to tell whether the product is effective yet as I have only been taking it for a few days. Although the product is light weight and resealable it is impossible to access it without covering your hand in the fine powder, I have therefore transferred it to an airtight plastic box. One further thing, I could not dissolve it in juice as it stayed in a solid lump, however it does dissolve in boiling water which can then be topped up with either cold water or juice.Goes Well With:Water or any juice
My husband is getting on fine with this product but I'm afraid my body is not liking it at all. I have to rush to the toilet up to four times instead of my usual controlled one and sorry to be graphic, but it is explosive! I will give it a few weeks and then try a lower dose and see how it goes. Otherwise, it is easy to use, tasteless and effective.Goes Well With:Fruit juices.
Just bought our second batch of this and I would recommend it. Delivery is super fast both times I have ordered. I found it easier to sprinkle on food especially cereal and there is no taste to it. It can be mixed with shakes or water just my prefrence is sprinkle. After a few weeks of using you really can tell the diffrence in how you feel. It dose at first give you a little wind- but I found that settled after a week and keeps you regular also. Well worth a try and the best value I have foundGoes Well With:cereal, shakes or water
For a diabetic, like myself, this was unusable as there is high sugar content.
Have introduced this product to my diet, after seeing it on TV - unsure if it benefiting, but happy to continue using it.Goes Well With:Fruit as a dessert
really speedy delivery and a great price too. the only thing was I thought there would be a scoop inside the package so you got the measurement correct when using. theres also not much info on how you use it on the packaging, bit daunting for new users like me in case im over or under suing it. otherwise seems fine, mixes really well in my tea just hope im using the right amount and using only once a day! ????Goes Well With:i stir mine into my tea
Extra fine powder that dissolves easily even in cold water to give a clear pleasant drink. Good strong resealable storage bag. Top quality product with fast efficient service from Myprotein. 5 star.Goes Well With:Goes well with fruit juices.
Fast delivery, excellent value, easy to use packaging and scoop. Even though it says unflavoured it tastes nice mixed in with my yogurt.Goes Well With:Yogurt
The product arrived on time and was packaged securely. The Inulin powder is an excellent product.Goes Well With:Cereal, gravy and milk
Using it to help degrade fat stores around abdominal organs. It mixes well and unless a lot is used not sweet. Don't try to eat it on its own.Goes Well With:Cereal
Bought this product to lose internal belly fat. Won't know if it works for at least 6 months Goes Well With:Food
I read about this product and decided to give it a try. It mixes well with all the foods i have tried so far. It has no taste. I gave it 4 stars on effectiveness as the evaluation is on going.. All I can say I have used it daily for 2 weeks with no adverse effects. Hopefully in about a month or so I should see some benefit.Goes Well With:Porridge, a variety of cereals, all diluteable drinks. Can be sprinkled on to many foods as well
Great taste, easy mix.product 100%. Fast delivery. Many thanks.Goes Well With:Anything.
Angela Rippon recently mentioned on TV that Inulin results in reducing internal body fat. If this actually works then I hope the NHS make available on prescription! This product is also good for keeping one regular and so I have been able to stop using a laxative. It's a little difficult to dissolve so I usually put it in my home made smoothies so it gets pulverised during the process.Goes Well With:Smoothies
Arrived swiftly, well packed and seems like a good product.
My family uses this solely for gut health, it works really well. If you are overloading on carbs though...watch out it will very likely make you 'a bit windy😂'. It mixes perfectly in water but we found it was not so great in fruit juice. Feeling much better and more energetic and appetite is definitely controlled. We are taking this in conjunction with tablet form gut bacteria. Would definitely recommend.Goes Well With:Water
Arrived promptly, appears to be good value for money. Tends to harden when mixed with warm food so makes it rather chewy. The taste is OK a little sweet if anything. Just recently started using this so am waiting to see if it's effective or not.
Very pleased with inulin powder Packet comes with a handy measuring scoup. First mixed in water and stirred well to dissolve powder but now mix into porridge. Have taken daily and am very happy with this pre biotic powder.Goes Well With:Water or porridge.. mix well. No unpleasant after taste.
Amazing broad acting prebiotic effects but just make sure you build the dose up gradually if you're new to it to avoid the trumps!! Also I'd recommend you mix it well into other powders as I found adding it by itself to drinks was harder to great a good even mix and to avoid little clumps of inulin.Goes Well With:Other powders
To early to tell how effective it is. Really easy to use. Spoon included. Mixes easily & has no flavour
The product seem fine but the overall result will take time. The amount taken must have some relation to weight and age! The package does not give this information as far as I am aware. It was only when I emptied the contains into a storage container that I found the scoop but how many is required? I look forward to your reply.
I've no idea if this is effective or not. How do you tell? It's good that it doesn't have any taste, but there are no instructions on the pack as to the best way to take it. I put it in my coffee in the mornings but I don't know if the heat from the hot water is doing anything to it in any way. Should I be taking it cold? How soon should I notice any effects? No information at all on the pack.
found Inulin to be very active with the bowel which is good. This calms down after a couple of days. Will be buying again. Only found one issue when mixing was not so good (Turmeric with black pepper and orange juice) we can live with that.Goes Well With:Mixing with most meals no problem.I have put it into pancake batter, fruit crumble ( fruit and crumble topping) chillis , casseroles, cups of tea and coffee. Basically it goes into anything that doesn't move.
