I bought it because your milk based products irritated my bowels and gave me the runs. Plus I am aware of the useful and naturally available benefits of the hemp plant for the human body. This stuff tastes like hemp and it doesn't really dissolve into the liquid. Its a bit like making a tea using leaves. They get wet and mix into the water, but they remain bits of tea. So this powder remains powder in the mixer and turns the water cloudy green and some settles at the bottom of the container. Its a unique and interesting, not unpleasant taste, of hemp(!) which is a grassy, not sweet, not bitter, vegetable taste. THe effect on the guts is completely benign, and yields a satisfying energy supply. One star off because it doesn't get you stoned. Gutted. Plus its a bit on the pricey side. I may try Pea Protein as an alternative.

After research i decided that hemp protein was for me, it sits well with my lifestyle and training choices for my food and nutrition. The Hemp Protein hits the mark as it has all the essential aminos and the right balance for omega 3 & 6. Despite its nutty smell, this product really does taste like pondweed when mixed with water alone. However, three teaspoons of instant hot chocolate and I've become quite addicted to it! Perfect if you're trying to avoid the lactose and gluten found in other products. I have been using product for two weeks and am already seeing the benefits in conjunction with my healthy 5:2 diet and normal routine of going to the gym 3-4 times per week. Getting the lean definition that I just wasn't achieving with my normal eating/ exercise habits. Highly recommended if you're looking for leaner definition!

As far as proteins go, this seems to be a little easier to tolerate if you don't like the sickly sweet, all in one, whey based mixes like XS or Extreme. I thought I'd give it a try as I looking for something which lent itself more to a paleo option. TBH, I actually prefer this to the other stuff I was taking (XS & Extreme). They were very sweet and had to tone them down with a spoon of powdered coffee to stomach them. Ok, so it may be a tad lighter on the protein content so take three shakes a day to make up for it. Where the XS and Extreme would play havoc with my insides this is noticeably easier. I still get a bit of gas but that's more likely from the milk I mix it with than from the product. I prefer to use milk as it makes it taste like cold pea soup. To be honest I like the taste this way and I take 3 heaped scoops a day and mix each one with about 2/3 of a pint of milk. It goes down well. Water makes it too watery and as for fruit juice, that would be just plain wrong. Think savoury and you'll be ok. Mixibility is pretty good. A tad grainy but nothing more than usual. I get the odd clump of powder stuck to the inside of my shaker lid afterwards but I shake that off with a bit of water and down it too. Results - too soon to say as it's only been a month.

Severe reaction with vomiting and stomach cramps

Recently I ordered and tried the hemp protein for the first time. Having used whey and soy proteins happily for a year I just wanted to try something different for a change. This hemp protein makes me very nauseous with severe vomiting and gives me hours of stomach cramps. I also had my wife try it and she metabolized it just fine. So it seems that I have an intolerance to it which was baffling to me because I can literally eat anything and my stomach never argues with me. I had this kind of reaction for the first time in my life from this protein. Anyways, I wrote this just as a precaution to try a new protein first and see if it works for you before you order the biggest bag and then realize you have an intolerance to it.

The first week using this protein can be a bit of a challenge in terms of texture, but after that, it's fine. I was looking for a natural, plant based, pesticide/chemical free alternative to Whey, and I'm really happy with the change. The added benefit of Hemp's vitamin/mineral profile, high fibre, and Omega 3 & 6 profile make this a killer addition to my diet.

I was scared of buying this as people where talking about how bitter it was, but if you can down the taste BCAAs this is a walk in the park. It's slightly bitter, but bitter tastes are meant to increase your bile production helping digestion. You can also taste it's nuttiness in whatever you're making but you will easily get used to it. I have flatulence problems with almost every protein powder on the market but this has eliminated it completely. I've even stopped getting acne too as my gut has healed from the damage. I haven't lost any mass since switching from dairy and egg proteins and it mixes easier than Casien and Whey. It absorbs a lot of water so you're going to have to add a lot more moisture to your recipes.

Mixes well. The taste isn't terrible, nor particularly pleasant. Just tastes vaguely nutty. The best plant power protein for vegans and anybody looking to cut down their animal product consumption. I have mine after workouts in the evening so that I dont have to eat late - digests very quickly with no hassle so it doesn't disrupt my sleep at all.

I'm currently trying to make as many vegan changes to my diet as possible and after being disgusted with the soy protein I thought I'd try hemp. It doesn't look or smell great and instead of diving straight in, I thought I'd try half hemp half whey to see how I got on. I agree that the taste it earthy/nutty but again, it's better than the taste of soy. It mixes better than soy, it doesn't go all thick and gloopy but yes, as other reviews have stated, it is quite grainy. However, as long as you've got a glass of water with you, you can just wash it down with a sip to get rid of the taste and texture it leaves. I'm willing to finish the bag to see if my taste buds adjust.

Looks gross, tastes gross. But it works. I mix with MyProtein pea protein powder in my breakfast smoothie, and can just about cope. Going to take a long time to get through my supersize bag! Having it for breakfast keeps me full up to beyond lunch, something soya protein didn't do so well. I don't regret my purchase, but won't be rushing out to buy again.

Taste awfull as expected. But I think it is a good product. Need to take for a few more weeks to see if there are any benefits. Recomend you only take half a measure at a time. You need to be pretty hardcore to down this stuff. Great alternative to dairy and soya based protien.

Limited to protein shakes I can use due to intolerances. I found this one grand. The taste wasn't great but it was definitely drinkable. Better than I was expecting, I found it tasted earthy or nutty. I haven't tried mixing it with anything other than water so may find something to help it.

Well I've never had hemp protein before so this was my first time. I chose it in alternative for whey. It is proven to be more healthy than when but it tastes really bitter. Ive tried mixing with smoothies. But it still tastes bitter.

This is reasonably easy to mix. I add it to a little water, stir with a chopstick until it's a paste than add oat milk. I porefer the pea isolate as this makes me think of the powdered henna I use to dye may hair! Very herbal, but not unpleasant.

Very very happy with this product goes great with my veg smoothies and feel fantastic after drinking them. I blend it so it mixes very well but without a blender its a bit harder to get rid of all the lumps. Highly recommend this to anyone who wants to stay away from milk based proteins.

I made a mistake and bought this foul tasting protein powder, it was impossible to mask the flavor with anything I tried, the bitter taste is just too strong. I don't blame myprotein for this, it's just naturally disgusting. I really recommend brown rice protein for people that can't or don't want to use soy or dairy powders. It tastes nothing like rice and is just amazing compared to this.

I wasn't expecting anything particularly delicious, but the bitterness truly surprised me. I can't imagine having this as it is mixed with just water. Tried adding it to flavoured yoghurt for protein boost, still tasted bad. Haven't tried with strong flavourings yet, but I suspect the bitterness will still get through. I tried this in baking as well, it didn't ruin the banana bread but there was a slight aftertaste. Will not buy again.

After 3 months of on going digestion problems I finally realised I was allergic to whey so I wanted an alternative way to get my sweet tooth craving whilst getting some protein into my body post workout I bought the unflavored version so that I could experiment with some different flavourings/recipes. All in all im enjoying the subtle earthly flavour and texture much more than whey, doesn't leave a strange lingering taste like whey does either! Will be purchasing regularly in future, thank you!!

If you like sesame halva, I experimented and discovered a delicious formula. Mix equal parts of hemp protein, almond protein (aka. almond flour), rice protein and sesame halva, with a fork (not a blender), to a grey lumpy powder. Do not add water! The powder is amazingly delicious, and that's coming from a Frenchman who loves good food. I had hesitated to buy hemp powder in case it made me dopey but it has the exact opposite effect, seems to give a general feeling of wellbeing and energy, while visibly reducing fat.

almond protein (aka. almond flour), rice protein and sesame halva all in equal parts and eaten dry.

This product is excellent, as a lactose, sugar and wheat free person I cannot recommend this highly enough. Those of you who are used to milk and sickly flavouring are probably going to hate the taste but I say get over it. I have been mixing with rice and hemp milk and I must say, other than the little bit of powder that does not dissolve, this is a very tasty and highly nutritious product. I will report later as to its ability to help build muscle.

It is so good tasting that it saves me a lot of time to just put 2 spoonfuls of it in my mouth with sips of water and chew it. It actually make me to look forward to the moment that I eat it daily, which has never happened with any of the brown rice and pea protein powder that I have tried. It certaintly works for feeling more energized! It can be used in recipes too.I used it with buckwheat flour(2:1 proportion of hemp protein being the less) and organic raisins to make crackers.

I use this as a meal replacement. I mix it into natural yoghurt with some stevia and a good few deops of vanilla extract. Yum. To me it tastes like ice cream with a slightly nutty flavour and does me more good on account of the vitamins it contains.

I brought my protein hemp protein after it was recommended to me by friends and after reading the great reviews on the site. When it arrived I put it in my bag went off to train and then put it in my shaker added water mixed up on first appearances it looked disgusting but what you would expect hemp protein to look like and then started to drink this is where the issue starts as you're drinking it there isn't really a taste but you can just fill the powder running through your mouth which feels gritty and absolutely horrible once you've finished taking a mouthful on downing it, how do you take yours the taste kicks in which is really earthy a bit nutty which a lot of people had said you could get used to I've been trying this now for three weeks and I'm still not used to have to have a second drink next to me to down afterwards to get all the leftover powder out of my mouth and the taste out my mouth I've tried water milk egg whites and orange juice have even tried putting it in my morning breakfast shake with bananas apples blueberries and Oates the taste still gets through and is disgusting!! Mixability; despite what are the reviews say mixability is Poor Flavour; very nutty very earthy not for me not for everyone be warned

When I had my first shake I was doughtfull, it didn't taste great but it wasn't bad. But after a 1kg pack the taste has grown on me and I quite like it. To my suprise it's great with milk, I mix it with a bit of dextrose for post work-outs and that tastes great to. I still haven't tried it with juice yet. I just brought the vegan belnd which I will never do again, this product it far superea in taste and mixability. I havn't been working out long enough to know how it effects performence and growth. It mixes well and doesn't effect my stomach in any bad way, neither does it make me fart while squating. Can't wait to finish my vegan blend so I can get back onto this,

Being lactose intolent and vegaterian I've been a bit limited in my choices. I've tried brown rice protein (it's grainy and doesn't agree with me), I've tried pea protein (which is ok) and even mixed the two (it's supposed to give a better amino acid balance) but this was the only protein I've tried which is easily digested and has noticable results. Yes, as others have said, it has a strong nutty / earthy flavour but once you get over the unusual flavour it's the best out there for vegans.

As i like to have diversity in my protein intake i discovered that this kind of raw proteins are a great way to do that by mixing them in half parts with other flavored proteins. I like to try things that aren't usual, i was sceptical with mixing it with whey but after i tasted it, this became my favorite blend, the shake gets lighter, and i find it to be more easily digested. In raw, this tastes like what it is but i find it to blend very well with any other flavour, so the taste shouldn't be a issue.

I call this product excellent -despite its downfall in mixability- because of its purity and rawness as a food. Having used whey protein for a couple of years when I was in my late teens I almost always found problems with it, whether from it being difficult to digest or the bloating that many people complain of. I could 'feel' that I'd had it, and that my stomach didn't like it, for pretty much the rest of the day. Having done a bit of reading it seems that the methods of extraction, the agents that it comes powdered with, and the nature of the protein as animal (and hence not optimised for human stomachs) all contribute to these complaints about whey. I have to commend myprotein on their range of plant-based products as well as the quality and affordability of this one in particular. As other reviewers say, this is raw hemp protein which means it will digest in your stomach just as though you had eaten the seeds. I've found the shakes so digestible that I can have them before/after meals and not feel bloated or over-full, nor does it feel heavy in the stomach during exercise. The product doesn't mix particularly well, but you can't expect much else since it's 100% hemp. Hemp doesn't naturally mix into a solution and it is heavier than milk and water so it tends to sink to the bottom of the shake. You can also feel the powder in your mouth as you drink it, but that isn't unusual with shakes in my experience. It isn't an offensive taste, but the shake benefits from adding your own flavouring.

I'm pretty new to the whole protein supplements thing, but as a vegetarian I decided to try this as it was recommended by a friend. First few goes I mixed it with just water and found it a bit, well, odd - kind of like drinking cold, thin pea soup! But mixed with skimmed milk it's much better - actually quite smooth and really quite tasty. And I have to say that it does seem to help refuelling after a session at the gym. Very good choice, it's vegan and healthy protein! Mixing it with water is okay but it tastes much better mixed with fruit juice. I'll definitively buy it again!

This one is the only protein that is not UHT treated - which means it retains most of its minerals/vitamins and is fully assimilable. It is also cold processed (obtained by physical means) and without a use of solvents and therefore does not get your bowels bloated. The only thing is the taste but it could bypassed by mixing with 100% chocolate. You could mix it with banana as well but do not forget to add a spoonful or two of flax oil to slow down the carbs intake (high index).

Researching nutrition, I have come to learn that this source of protein is the most natural and purest protein out there. Before, I think it was raw eggs, but those days are long gone. Thank goodness, this protein tastes like plants, and takes some getting used to. It can be mixed etc but the taste is quite strong and overpowering. I won't lie about that. However, you can get used to it, and it is fantastic for recovery! A few shakes of this a day, will soon become habit and really does speed up recovery after a workout, also I have noticed an increase in muscle gain compared to other protein powders. The main selling point for me was the purity of the Hemp, nothing is added, or taken away.

No stomach upset at all even if taking few servings per day. For all the fusspots out there, its on par with pea protein taste wise (not great) but in blender with berries and orange juice it is fine, actually adds a nice thick texture. Cant complain on this stuff, taste is irrelevant really unless you are a fusspot and more worried on taste than quality. Sticking to this gear from now on.

I recently started running/jogging with a group of other middle aged women. The reasons for this is first to get fit and hopefully lose a little weight. I have been trying to improve the muscles in my body and this protein was recommended to me. I have only just started using this product along with making other changes to my diet and running/jogging three times a week. Up to now I have no complaints and I am happy with what I received. My fitness has improved and I am slowly losing weight as well as toning my whole body. Give it ago and find out for yourselves. It's never to late.

At first, I didn't like the taste of it, finding it too overwhelming! But then I used 400ml of oat milk, a banana and a half scoop of this protein and it tastes delicious.

I wasn't a fan of this Hemp Protein. It tastes horrible! If you are going to get it I would get a flavoured one!

I have an intolerance to whey to found hemp protein a good replacement, this protein tastes they best of any I've ever had. It mixes as well as hemp protein can just I make it as required or if taking it to training I just give it a good shake before I drink it. Value for money and quality myprotein is the best there is highly recommend it.
